I don't get it. We've tried this place serval times because it's got good atmosphere and not much choice in the area. But continue to be disappointed. Hubby and I went here a couple of weeks ago after I read the reviews. We had dinner plans for 8:30 later that evening, and I thought we'd try it since neither of us had eaten lunch. We got there about 4:30 and were the only customers. We were greated warmly, seated and given menus. After looking at the menu, I thought my husband was going to walk out! No chicken fried steak sandwich? No greasy French fries? Not a beef enchilada in sight, and WTH is haricot vert? Pfft! I explained to him this is not that kind of place, haricot vert is french for green bean and after all we were just here for a "tie us over bite", not a 5 course meal. After the initial shock of the realization that I had lured him into a "foo foo" food place, he agreed to at least try something. Not wanting to press my luck, I talked him into trying the sliders appetizer, 2 buffalo and 2 turkey. They were delicious and actually very filling. He had to admit he enjoyed the buffalo, although he wasn't crazy about the turkey. No surprise there. I loved them both. The server was excellent, the water was poured from a glass carafe table side. I do not know if it was simply bottled water or avian. I can tell you it was not chlorinated municipal water. If you or your husband is a steak and baked/fried kinda person, this place is not for you. If you like to try different things instead of the run of the mill, this is definitely worth trying. Well first off the music was too loud I couldn't even hear my waiter even after telling him that I couldn't hear him because the music was too loud the music didn't get turned down which kind of turned me off. Secondly my salad didn't have enough dressing on it and my French onions soup tasted like chicken noodle soup. Thirdly it was just way too Overpriced for what it was . The restaurants very attractive so I was disappointed by the service and the food. It's nothing special but it's better than the McDonald's that's the only other thing in town. read more

We called ahead to take in a party of 12 which included children. This place had our table ready when we arrived and treated us promptly with excellent service. They didn't have a kids menu but we made it work and they were accommodating to help us find options. We ordered many things but highlights included the short ribs, grilled tuna, white wine flight and grilled shrimp. Don't miss the compound butter served with the baguette - amazing! The quality of seafood was impressive and the portion sizes were adequate yet not overdone. We live two hours away and I would easily consider driving here for a date night. Went to this little place with high expectations today. Food was good, had the cheese platter and blue cheese and apple frosting. Wine was marginal at best. We sat out on the back porch next to another table and both tables asked to have the heat lamps turned on as the sun had gone under and there was a chill in the air. Our waiter, who happened to be the manager, told us they were instructed by the owners that they ABSOLUTELY could not turn the heaters on until 6pm and asked if we wanted to box our food and drinks to go. Ummm, What? How about you accommodate your customers that are here in between your food rush. DO NOT support this business- they obviously have no idea what customer service is about. Like the name suggests, this is a very cozy little restaurant! I would suggest making reservations. My husband and I didn't know to make any, and we were made to feel a bit dumb for our oversight, but they somehow managed to "squeeze" us in anyway, despite there being a few empty tables. Inside the decor borders on romantic, but it's not exactly private as there is only one main dining room with no real way to escape what's going on at the other tables. The wine list was pretty extensive for such a small place - definitely did not expect that considering the types of wines served in most Conroe/Montgomery area establishments. No Barefoot or boxed wine to be found here, yay! We started with the escargot ($10). It was served in a warm lemon butter sauce and baguette slices for sopping up the sauce - very tasty, but definitely a calorie splurge. In lieu of an entree, I had the goat cheese salad ($11), which was quite filling for a 'side' salad and topped with sliced almonds and a generous amount of goat cheese - YUM!. My husband had a chicken dish that was featured the night of our visit , which was served with mixed veggies and mashed potatoes. It was about as good as you can expect a grilled chicken breast to be - not my personal favorite and a tad expensive for a somewhat basic chicken entree ($16, I think), but he enjoyed it nonetheless. Next time we plan to try the shrimp scampi appetizer ($11). A table next to us ordered it, ate it up, and then ordered a second, so it must be very good! We each had a pint of the local brew ($5)- Southern Star's Pine Belt Pale Ale - during dinner, and we shared a glass of tawny port ($10) with a slice of Cheesecake factory cheesecake ($5) for dessert. I love a good port and, again, I was surprised to see one on the menu here. I really can't believe we haven't tried this perfect little spot in Montgomery, Texas. The wine selection is impressive. The knowledge of the wait staff is exceptional. Ask for Amy. She will amaze you with her knowledge of wine and her engaging personality. The food is top notch. I'll hold their crab cakes up against the best Houston has to offer. This is our new favorite "adult" restaurant in the Conroe area. 2015 update - have now been here at least five times. The tomatillo chicken enchiladas are excellent. Amy is no longer here but the waitstaff is friendly and attentive and the owner is usually I property if there is a problem. The place is growing in popularity and shouldn't be missed if you're in the area for dinner. Ps if you like funky French jazz music this is the place. read more

My favorite restaurant in town! I haven't had anything bad on the menu! However, my favorite are the fish tacos! They are the best I've ever had! Very good crab cakes. You must get the cheesecake with the caramel sauce! They do have brunch on Sundays. I've only been once. I had a delicious omelet and mimosas! The place is adorable with a huge back patio! They have it enclosed and heated for the winter and open with fans for hot days! They may be misting fans... I can't remember! You will not be disappointed at the cozy grape! read more

This is a brunch review. We went for brunch today and were amazed at how good the food and value is. Similar to other upscale places that have ventured into the brunch realm, they have a limited menu of foodie-centric dishes, but they are very reasonable and delicious. We had the shredded chicken omelet and Tuscany omelet, both priced at $11 and both outstanding. Each omelet came with a side of fruit which was a terrific mix of oranges, grapes, apples and strawberries (no crummy melon!). We wouldn't bring our six year old here, but for adults, this is a total winner! read more

We tried the brunch and it was ok. I guess I had high expectations with all the wonderful reviews I had read. Our waitress was new but had to have been new to waiting tables all together so unfortunately the service was not good. I tried the Tuscany omelette and was not impressed. My husband tried their crab cake egg bendict and he said it was so so. We had ordered coffee in addition to our waters and for our appetizer had the baguettes. We finished our appetizer and still had no coffee. Then our food arrived and still had no coffee. We told her to cancel the coffee. I feel like the portions are a bit small for the price. I would be open to trying lunch or dinner but would prefer somewhere else for brunch. read more

This is an awesome place to eat and enjoy a good glass of wine in Montgomery. We enjoy the food and wine selection. They have an awesome menu selection. The escargot is wonderful. I've never had anything bad on the menu at all! The wine selection is outstanding as well. We enjoy sampling their different offerings anytime we are here. This cozy (see what I did there) little spot nestled in the "cool, little town" (overheard whilst dining at said cozy little spot) that is Montgomery, TEXAS, is a delight. We (my chick and I) stumbled upon this place during an antiquing marathon on Easter's eve. The chick and I shared an appetizer (of sorts) with the Buffalo and Turkey Sliders. Unfortunately, they had run out of arrows and could not bring a buffalo to the table; they brought burger and turkey sliders for a couple of bucks less. It was tasty enough that I want to go back for some buffalo. The beer menu is tremendous. No cheerleader beer here so frat boys need not attend. Devil's Backbone, Spaten and H-Town's own St. Arnold's Lawnmower are available, to name a few...a few of my favourites!! We plan to peek at the vino the next time we're about. So we came here with high expectations looking at reviews. Upon coming in we waited a bit to to be seated. We asked to be outside since it was so nice out. The inside is very nice as is the outside area. It was fairly busy but only outside. Only two or three tables inside . We were seated and told our waiter would be with us soon. He came brought us water and we told him we needed a bit more time to look at the menu. His name was Harrison. Well I guess they want you to get as cozy as possible at this place because we didn't see our waiter for another 15 minuets. It's a good thing we were bright our own water to pour. Menu didn't have much to choose from there is a wider selection of drinks then food. Next time we did see out waiter he was helping another server bring out food. Took another 4 minuets he came back to our table. We should have left at that point. Anyway he took our order. I ordered the Cuban sandwich and my husband ordered the the turkey panini. I asked for a straw he said he's bring one. Well another 6-10 mins go by he passes our table a few times nothing finally I am another waiter if he could bring me a straw and within a minutes he was back with it passing our waiter who again didn't bring me one. So we got our food and it honestly it was a bit of a let down . I'm say if you've ever had a true Cuban sandwich you should stick to where you usually get it. I was pretty disappointed my husband didn't like he sandwich either. We left kind of upset we were hoping for better. Not just service wise but food wise. We both work service industry and our service was lacking. It even took a while to get our card back my husband got up to leave thinking it was handed back . I'm really happy to have found this place. We were visiting for 2 weeks from out of state and were having a hard time finding a consistently GOOD place to eat. Well this is the place. So far I have tried the enchiladas, buffalo burger, pesto shrimp pasta, and the cheese cake. The enchiladas aren't coated in salt, so if you want a Mexican style dish without all the salt this is a good choice. The buffalo burger (medium rare w/avacado) was orgasmic, it lasted less than 2 minutes on my plate. The pesto shrimp pasta was really flavorful, so if you want a stronger flavored dish and like shrimp, this is a good choice. Finally the cheese cake, light and fluffy, not a cheap tasting over sweetened slab you usually find in a grocery store. read more

Went to Cozy Grape a month ago with my son, who by the way was wearing a MAGA hat. Service was very slow and it was very obvious that the owner did not like my son's hat for the eye rolls I observed. After waiting over 30 minutes for our order we left, did not feel comfortable eating the food anyway, lord knows what was in it! read more

We requested they be turned off as did the 2 gentlemen seated at a table next to us - several times. They ignored our requests. I had high hopes for this place based on recent reviews but have to say I was somewhat disappointed. We tried it for a recent Saturday brunch and it was busy but not overwhelming the staff. We had to ask for silverware 3 times and extra napkins to soak up the water running across the table from condensation. Little but obvious things. My real concern was some of the food. I ordered the brunch crab cake Benedict. One had a crab cake and one had ham. The side of fruit was perfect, the potatoes were great but the crab was very fishy to the point of not being edible and the Benedict sauce was just so-so. Our server offered to bring something else but the ham one was ok so I declined and ate around the crab cake rather than wait on a new dish. The restaurant is lovely with a nice patio. So I am hopeful this was just a bad morning and will give it another chance when we are back in the area. Just no seafood dishes... read more

This is quaint little restaurant. The owner was there to greet us with her cute little accent. The restaurant looks fancy inside with high quality PAPER napkins (hey, we're talking small town fancy here)! They have a lot of interesting things on the menu. The wine list looks pretty solid. I had the grilled shrimp: nice flavor, big sized shrimp. I didn't care for the vegetables it came with (tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, carrots). The jasmine rice was good. My husband had the ahi tuna--good but not great. Our server was new but very attentive. I do wish they don't allow smoking at the entrance of the restaurant. Luckily no one was smoking or I would have ended up with an asthma attack! This place has a lot of potential. I definitely would like to give it another shot but order something else. read more

I brought my Mom and daughter here for dinner because it is fairly close to our house and it was pouring rain. My Mom ordered a shrimp salad and the shrimp tasted awful...like they were old, like ammonia. Definitely not edible. The waiter took the shrimp back to the kitchen and my Mom ate the rest of the salad. I was shocked when I got the bill and nothing had been taken off for the shrimp. The bread was hard and old....the grilled shrimp was good, tough but good, but the vegetables it was served with were not "clean". The were slimy and slimy. And yes slimy. Yuck!! Too too much butter too. But so slimy like they were boiled because the cook isn't creative enough to grill them. Also....seriously?!...paper napkins with low light dinner?!? Omg! That is terrible. This review is only for the wine bar. It's a small hallway between the two dining rooms and right across from where the food comes out of the kitchen. Lots of traffic between the servers and the kitchen. It was also where the servers congregated to have conversations that most guests don't want to hear. The wine advertised on the website by the glass was not on the menu. The server cheerfully gave me two other options. I asked her to describe them and she said "The Zinfandel tastes like a Zinfandel, the red blend tastes like a mixture of wines." When I realized that was the extent of her knowledge I ordered the Zin. It was a good wine at $8/glass and was served at the correct temperature. read more

Very disappointed. I have eaten at this restaurant over the past several years. Recently have been going for Sunday brunch. Today the omelette was very over cooked and tasteless. When the owner/manager came to pick up my credit card to pay my bill, I mentioned that fact to her. She took my card and ignored my comment. When she brought my card and the approved purchase back to me, she muttered "Thank you" and again disregarded me. I was not asking for any financial consideration, but only providing my feedback. Obviously my comments were not valued, only that I paid for my food. I had scheduled a dinner with two other individuals for this Wednesday, but will change to another restaurant. There was a time the Cozy Grape portions were way undersize, but they've stepped their game up and now it's a full plate. Appetizers are all delicious, good adult beverage menu too. Main courses are tasty and filling, a cut above average in presentation and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is that of an old home converted into a small restaurant, which it probably is, and the back patio is ideal for larger groups. It's a little bit California yuppie mixed with TX traditional food. Give it a try for something a bit different than your typical eatery. read more

Arrived before 7 pm on a Saturday night - were told by the rude hostess that they had no tables available (clearly some were marked reserved but not all of the tables) we weren't offered a wait time or the option to sit at the bar. We were blown away by our recent (first) trip to the Cozy Grape! The ambiance was perfect, the waitstaff amazing, even the owners stopped by our table to check on us during our stay. We tried several menu items during our visit including the blue cheese and apple crostini, the Goat cheese pizza, the french onion soup and the creme brulee. All were impeccable and delicious! The red wine flight was top notch, as were the other wines we selected. We will be coming back on a regular basis. I cannot say enough about the Cozy Grape, the food, the people, the service. Restaurant and bar located in downtown Montgomery. The food was delicious and the service excellent. It is obvious a lot of care goes into the ingredients and preparation of their dishes. My wife and I had dinner at the GRAPE last night and had a ball! When we arrived, we knew several friends and customers dinning there! The food was good, and the wine was GREAT!
