This is my first time in this Cox store. I can here with my cousin who also needed assistance with her Cox account. We walked in and were greeted by Myquasha right away. He helped me by letting me know what benefits come with the next plan tier and my cousin also got the help she needed with her account. It was a smooth, quick process for both of us. My experience is 5 stars because of one employee, Myqasha T. I was in a hurry, movers were waiting and I was returning my cox cable box after living in the area for 5 years. Myqasha sensed this and said I'll be right with you ma'am, professional and friendly. I explained my movers were annoyed because I was stopping and he said I'll be as quick as possible. He was reassuring which immediately put me at ease. I asked him if I purchased a phone screen protector would he put it on for me? He said of course. He also said that might take a minute and I know your movers are waiting. I said they're already annoyed and another few minutes won't matter. We both laughed. Myqasha is exactly the type of employee I would want to have working for me; professional, personable, smiling, helpful, reassuring, and overall stellar customer service. Constant calls to Cox for internet outages. They blame it on having the Google mesh system, which came recommended by their techs. Once again internet does not work even though their speed test says it "does not see an issue." Coax internet is outdated and simply does not work with modern tech. Fios lines are buried in my neighborhood and I can not wait to sign up with them. read more

If it was possible to give 0 stars I would. Tried to get service started at my new house but the brand new router didn't work. Talked to a chat messenger and he told me the only way to get my brand new router to work was by paying $100 to have a tech come out. I said no bc there was nothing wrong with my router. The whole time he's trying to upsell me on a different plan as well. Often ignoring my messages for 25+ minutes at a time. I told them if they couldn't get my brand new router to work then I would cancel my contract and so I did. I don't regret it and will never use this company again, definitely sticking with the big brand names from now on. I recently purchased a camera system for inside and a ring door bell. The sales rep did not explain the needs for the door bell so I returned it as soon as I received it. I received my receipt and left the office. I then called the same day to make sure I would receive my refund for 159.00. I was told yes within 2-5 days. 7 days later no refund and after speaking to so many people I was told I would receive a refund for 159.00. but I later received a email saying 74.00. I then called back and they say oh we took the money for the next month and this is still August. I told them this is a big inconvenience, I brought a device returned it and now cant get my full amount back with a zero balance when I purchased it. They only saying well this is the balance for the next month that's not even here yet. They also said if I make a payment in the amount they took they'll refund me my whole 159.00. How dumb is that. This company is the worst. I would give them 0 stars if I could. I was a customer for 30 years and have dealt with their customer service department. Nothing but lies and false promises. The latest debacle is that they would not honor a two year contract that their own loyalty department offered me in November of 2023. They lie to you to get you to hang up and then they do nothing. Coming here on a Sunday definitely wasn't the smartest move as there were quite a few people thinking like us. Thankful the wait wasn't long at all! Went in & signed in on the kiosk. Even better that they have multiple screens showing the waiting list plus about 4-5 employees assisting in every way possible. Since i upgraded to panoramic my wifi has sucked. Talked me into new modem, then monthly service. Now it sucks worse. Previous tech that was here said signal to house was bad. Last one thats been out twice says i need to buy new 129.00 pods. ??? Trued moving box, resetting cable many times. Latest call was frustrating also. Suggested replacing box AGAIN and buying a pod or two. When i asked for specs so i coild just go out and buy a complete MORE POWERFUL system, he said it wont be as good as theirs. When i hung up, my wifi actually dropped a bar like he throttled my speed again. read more

I've had no choice but to keep Cox until now. Luckily Verizon finally serviced my area. When my house burned down, it was bad enough they made me pay for my box, but when they waited a year and said I didn't pay and made me pay again, it was even worse. They always try to raise the price. Their customer service is horrible. I had to go to Better Business Bureau and then corporate got involved. Fixed it for a little bit, then more of the same. I talked to them on the phone to get shut off and was told I was good, but had to turn in box (which I paid in full for, not rent) and they tell me my account wasn't turned off. Hopefully everything is finally done and I never have to deal with this company again. read more

Used to use Cox back in Fairfax, VA, but it was too expensive after 20+ years, and switched to Fios. Moved down here, and Fios is not really accepted down here because the speed is too slow. Came in yesterday before closing time, and was greeted when it was my turn. Friendly young woman asked what I wanted, and told her just Internet Services. Signed me up for the Service that was over 100, which I found to be very fast! LOL! Anyway, get home and hooked up the Modem, and the speed is very fast! In a 1 year Contract, and hopefully the rate won't go up too much when that happens. Looking forward to see what happens next. :-) read more

This isn't a review of this store specifically. I haven't yet had to go to a Cox store in person. But a review of the wifi in general. I used to have Xfinity wifi, but moved to VA beach and Cox was the most affordable of very few options here. I have only been here since April, so not even 3 months yet. And there have already been 6 outages in our area... I had xfinity for almost 2 years and only had one outage during that time. 6 in a span of not even 3 months just feels like a lot. And it takes an extremely long time for it to get fixed. Just something to think about if you're considering Cox especially if you rely on wifi for working from home or something like that. I will say internet speed is fast when there's no outages. read more

This cox service doesn't provide a direct service in their boxes to Disney or paramount or new services or hulu. They do you off and my cable bill is 400 plus a nutmeg for my home even though most only use this box as a HD gateway. To the services provided on a gigabit service. They are wanting a410a month service fee for a service that we pay every month for Netflix hulu and Disney plus and paramount plus and espn plus plus they charge us every month. So yes do your much needed research. This company is robbery. read more

Friendly enough and there was no line so we were served immediately when we arrived to exchange our non-working cable box for one that would hopefully work. But this seems like a pretty decent place to wait if there was a long line - wifi, a couple of computers and televisions up as demonstration models and plenty of seating. read more

The employee of this COX are poor customer service SCAMMERS. I had rent a wi-fi modem for 1 month and I wanna purchase it on the next month but I want to pay it monthly, like layaway. I went to the store that is close to Lynnhaven Mall and met that rude, ignorant lady. Her face is like she just went to a funeral or something. No smiles at all, talk like reading a book, look at the screen for the whole time... Anyways, I told her directly like this: "I have a rental Wi-Fi modem, now I want to purchase it but I want to pay it monthly." She didn't say nothing, but nod her head. Since I'm not a native English speaker, I wanted to make sure she got what I was saying, I asked her one more time: So... I am paying for the modem monthly, right?? She just kept nodding her head like a broken robot, and so I assume it means that she got it... About half month later, the next bill arrived. It showed that the Wi-Fi modem is in FULL amount so I went to the store again and ask that same lady why. She kept saying that paying monthly is rental. Since I said I wanna purchase it, I have to pay the full amount. I kept explaining to her that I understand what rental means, and now I'm buying it but I just want to pay it monthly. I just can't use my whole day to let her make me feel like I am an idiot, so I tell her: "If you wanna buy a car, you don't have all the money now, so you want to pay it monthly, that's still means you are PURCHASING the car, right???" Then she tell me: Oh we don't do that. Honestly I've asked my native English speaker co-workers and friends that do they understand: "I want to purchase it, but I wanna pay it monthly". They ALL understand. Well, one of them say that I could say I wanna break down the payment so it sounds more clear. YET, that lady could've ask me to explain more if she was not clear. She probably just wanna cover her butt of her ignoring me when I first tell her of what I wanted to do so she was trying to take advantage of my race (Chinese), and try to act like I don't understand the differences between rental and purchase. Finally I have to pay that freaking $140 something in full amount since the 30 days return policy was over. They are THIEVES. I mean that's not a big money but that is just not I was planning to do. In my area Cox is the only provider available, the location I move from also had Verizon Fios available which was $79.00 a mo for their highest speed with free gateway modem and no data limit.Cox charges $99.00 a mo plus $12.00 a mo for rental of a modem and has a limit on data unless you pay another $30 a mo. Some how even though I have internet I feel like lm being ripped off. If another provider comes to my area I'm dropping Cox. Oh by the way Verizon speed is faster. read more

Service in the store far exceeded my expectations. I visited to cancel the cable and telephone service, keeping just the internet. There were five customers waiting and each of us were called up as soon as a representative finished with their customer. I was called, went to pick up the large box of equipment for return and the rep actually beat me to it and carried it to his station at the back of the store. He asked what I needed and politely asked why I was cutting the cable service. I said cost, he nodded and within two minutes he made all the changes and handed me a receipt. I never thought I would give Cox any rating above a two but this young man knew what he was doing, was polite and set the standard for customer service. Wish I had gotten a name. read more

If I could give this location 0 stars I would. It has been nearly half the year and I've been battling with Cox communication over my account being thrown in to collection. Let's talk about the service. It's terrible, never could stream my games or even YouTube when ever I was in the mood to play. I'm barely home due to my job, but when I would come home the internet was so horrible to the point that my girl and I didn't use it. The cable was whack, barely any channels for the money that you are spending. Every other month I was calling Cox communication to have my bill lowered. I was sick to the point that I finally decided to cancel Cox communication all together. They tried to get me to stay with pointless incentives that could be presented to you in the beginning but isn't. I dropped off my equipment to the location right by old apartment, the sales associate didn't want to take it at first. He did and said he would take care of the equipment and told me to keep the wires. Cox communication could not prove that I indeed return the equipment. As a result they marked my account unpaid and threw it in to collections. I've been fighting for months trying to prove and show that my account was paid in full and I return the equipment for I'm with Verizon now. Prior to Verizon I had cox communications service for years. I was never given a receipt or anything showing that I returned equipment when I needed to. Whether it was replacing a dvr, modem, it was always taken care of. Cox communications is the worst cable provider ever thought of. Just get Verizon. Verizon is awesome. I've had no issues with Verizon. Cox communications and this location in particular are incompetent, unprofessional, irresponsible, and distrusting group. I remember that day, it was a male and female associate working and they both were very uninterested in helping me. It was ending of the day, but the man assured me that he would take care of the equipment. Now I'm suffering with all this unnecessary hardship with my credit due to someone else not doing their job and reflecting that I returned the equipment. I let everyone I know to stay away from Cox communication. Go back to training and crossing all your T's and Dotting all your i's. read more

Consistently horrible service, errors in cancelling and establishing service, equipment is re-purposed and doesn't work most of the time, what does connect at least 3 times a week and will be out for anywhere from 15 minutes to 4 days. You can wait on hold for over 40 minutes and then have calls disconnected before they get through. Surprise charges for equipment you don'e have and have never had. Months of complaining and hours and hours on the phone trying to get anyone to help, and they are either incapable or refuse. Vastly overpriced. I've had Cox in 4 other cities, not because I wanted them but because they were only option, and the same problems are everywhere. They give kickbacks to cities where they are allowed monopolies. Worst company, period, and no incentive to improve. read more

If I could give this company less than one star I would. I pay my bills on time every month and have been with this company for quite a number of years. Their customer service has not been great over the years, but I had heard unfavorable things about Verizon's CS as well, so I stayed. Last month I decided to upgrade because of a promotion they offered. I was told the promotion to upgrade my Internet would cost $15 more. I asked if I had to purchase a modem and was told the promotion covered the rental fee. I specifically asked if I was going to have to pay a rental fee for the modem or any other changes, taxes, fees, etc. I was told no. I asked again to confirm, again he said no. He said the cost of installation was free due to the promotion. I received a confirmation email that confirmed the charges. When I received my next bill there was a charge for installation and a higher monthly bill. I called Cox and after over an hour on the phone with two workers and a manager, I was told that they didn't have any record of what I was told. I offered to forward them the email from their company, they said they had no way to receive it. I offered to take a photo and send it to their phone and they said no that wasn't possible. The manager said the only way they could possibly honor it is for me to physically come to a Cox store to show them the email! I'm so done with this company. - read more

I was there to pick up equipment I added to an already existing account which I have had in good standing for 18months. On the phone I was first told there would be a deposit for due to a late or missed payment, when I told the rep that I had my account pulled up, he said that it "could" be for those reasons *eyeroll I asked him why I would need a deposit if I already have an existing account with autopay in good standing, he told me has no clue *another eyeroll He did transfer me to billing and it was straightened out. I expressed my frustration in thinking how many people fall for this and are taken advantage of with this type of fraud, as if our cable bills aren't high enough already. While I am in the store, one of the reps is trying to help a customer understand their bill, LOUDLY and rude. The gentleman was asking the rep why she keeps telling him a different amount due, the rep replied that SHE'S not telling him anything, it's what the computer says! I said to the person who was helping me, sounds like she could use a break. My rep felt so free to tell me that the customer was uptight and couldn't understand his bill and blaming the other rep, that "he's not gonna come in here and talk any kind of way he wants" "That mess don't fly in here" Even tho it wasn't my particular transaction, it does skew the way other customers view the company. Yes, it's frustrating to deal with unhappy customers but after all it is part of the job in trying not to let it get to that level of anger. Remembering that it's not personal, it's business. Sometimes things are so atypical that you have to log on and mention it. Here it's great customer service. Say what you may about the pricing and quality of the product, but the customer service here is the standard. I've traveled much, and used Charter, TW, and Dish, none rival. I've never had a bad experience here, they take the time to explain things, offer discounts when available, and don't pressure me into options when I say "no".
