Admittedly not thrilled when I have to go in here. It's mostly because of a defective router. Then again it's a first world problem. There will be some lines, but better than the DMV. Once a representative is able to help, usually they'll square you away quickly. They have some neat toys and services to look at. Cutting the cable cord was a win. Why pay more for something that really doesn't interest you? This store has a good location. It's right in the Kamp Washington part of Fairfax City. Cox workers here were friendly and fairly knowledgeable about policies and equipment. I had a good experience visiting and an even better experience chatting online with a Cox router specialist. Put together, they helped me figure out that my internet slowdown was due to a problem inside my house. A service person came out to fix that. I do wish that I had been able to get a new or freshly digitally wiped replacement router. Unfortunately, the router I got showed a long, long list of previous users' devices. But that is probably a Cox policy vs. something that the people at this store got wrong. This morning (July 23) I stopped by my Church to do some work. There was a Cox Communication lineman in a cherry picker working on lines in front of the Church along Little River Turnpike. For a year or more we had a wire from a telephone pole next to our Church that was laying on tree and shrub branches next to our driveway. The end of the wire was just cut off and was laying in the lawn by our exit driveway. We had no idea how or why it was just cut and left hanging like that. Having the wire on our lawn created a hazard for the commercial lawn mowing crew that cuts our grass. I spoke to your lineman about the wire. He said his name was Dustin. When Dustin was finished with his work by the road he came into our parking lot and cut down the wire so it was no longer hanging on branches and our lawn. Dustin said the wire was an old fiber optic cable from another company. Why they cut the line and just left it as a hazard for our Church I don't know. I just wanted to let you know that the members of our Church and I are VERY grateful for Dustin going out of his way to solve this problem for us. This was clearly not part of his job but he did not hesitate one bit in coming to our aid. Thank you Dustin! read more

Day three or four of dealing with Cox service. I called because I've been waiting at our house all day for a service person to come back for the fourth time to fix our Internet in days. Each time the service man leaves our Internet dies. We are paying for a service and we are not getting it. They have yet to fix our service Sunday through Wednesday) and when I called the very flippant Woman, and I mean down right rude, on the other end told me that she couldn't even talk to me because my husband's name was on the account. And she was flippant from the time she picked up her phone to the time I hung up with her. I explained that if they wanted to continue to have our service for almost one and a half times the amount that it would cost us to use Verizon that she could change her attitude and be kind, this is absolutely crazy and I can't believe this company is in business with better less expensive competition if they're employees act this way. I called for them to rebook it up three times no shows, cant get address correct.... Over a total for 47 minutes to 1.30 hours a phone call!!! This place drives me crazy, no one knows what is going on. I called in to customer service they told me to bring my equipment in to a store, I was moving. Brought the stuff in and they told me that part of it stayed in the apartment. Went back to my apartment complex and they told me that was true, but it was the wrong equipment and to take back to the store. I took it back and they said they were not taking it, but I left it there anyways. As a consumer this is not an easy way for me to work with a company, it is not my responsibility to drive all over town to return your equipment. I refused equipment for included services that I didn't want and only got an internet modem. When I moved, I returned the modem. COX demanded that I also return the equipment I didn't have. I spoke TWICE with customer service, but instead of dropping it they referred me to a collection agency. I was forced to pay rather than harm my credit rating. Shameful. read more

I cannot remember the name of the clerk who assisted me--I really need to be better at remembering--but he was very nice. He assisted me in picking up my internet connection package. It was very quick: no longer than 10 minutes. He even helped me to understand how to set it up. Typical take a number cable store. Staff has technical brochures and sales scripts memorized. Little practical support experience. Tech had me take products back for refund because they for not readily designed for my need and would improve signals. Cheerful and friendly staff with some know it all college students who need to be more grounded with field experience of cox products vs tech spec or what works in the dorm room. Still they are friendly while selling over rated speakers or other wifi products. If not paying a bill, look at Best Buy or Micro Center for any optional accessories first so you can make an informed purchase decision. Coxs cable service deserves a separate rating than this store. Pros: Internet speeds are fast and reliable Cons: Their rates are all over the place, very confusing. It's often cheaper to have more services than less due to packages, but only for a while; after x months they go up again without notice. Their web interface is very strange. It's as if each section was designed by different people. And their channel lineup is awful. Since the page loads by section, if you are, for instance, trying to quickly find what channel MASN is, you can't just hit ctrl-f and search for MASN. Instead, you have to keep scrolling down the page so that everything loads first. Which is slooow. And if you want to search via Contour, the online viewing portal, guess again: The channel listings are graphics, not text. So you can't search them. Also, it's very frustrating that you can add new services on the support portal, but not remove them. To do that, you have to call, and wait... and wait... and wait... the whole time being peppered with ads. That said, the few times I've had to call support, their techs have been very good. They have the elements of a great service, but need to do some serious business process improvement. read more

Went in on 9/3/16, and turned in my equipment because I went with Verizon Fios instead because they offered more for less money! Anyway, I turned in my equipment, and the first guy is having trouble with his computer for some reason. He kept calling over to the other guy that is there to help him, but told him what to do, and still nothing happened. Finally, he has me go over to the other guy, and he was able to take everything back with no problem. I then asked how long would I have with my cox emails. He tells me in a pissed off voice about 60 days. He then asked why I was dropping Cox since I was a customer for 23 years. I told him that I found another provider at a cheaper price. We were returning equipment to the Fairfax store. We called for directions and location which we were given. We even inquired if it was open as we could not reach the store by phone. We were assured that it was open and did not have a phone since it was a walk in store. We drove the 40 minutes to the location only to find that it was not only closed but there was no longer a store at the location. Heather Graf interviewed me and smack dab in the middle of it, some Cox muckety muck called to say my new balance was zero. Got vociferous apology (the woman sounded sincere but it's Cox ya kniw?) and assurance I had nothing further to worry about. 29 September 2018 received NEW Cox BILL dated June 6, 2018 for $475.93 that was, they asserted, due by June 27, 2018. Moved to VA two years ago. Since I can only have Cox as a cable provider in my building, I signed up. Little did I know that the billing is like a roller coaster ride. Up and down. I have to check each month to make sure I am being billed the correct amount. Every other month I have to call to get the bill reduced to the rate promised and wind up spending at least 40 minutes on the phone. Just got off the phone again!!!! Now I am being told that a "ticket" had to be opened and it would take up to 5 business days to see why the rate keeps fluctuating. REALLY??????
