I'm sure if your a boozer you will love this restaurant but don't go there for the food. I went there for breakfast and ordered eggs benedict and was served food at room temperature. We sent the food back and I was told by the waitress that there warmer wasn't working. They obviously dont cook to order. The hashbrowns looked as if they had been around since the day before. When we got our 2nd attempt at our order the food wasn't much hotter. I have also been there for dinner and the quality of the hamburger was poor. You would think the fries were gold for the amount they give you. Needless to say I wont be back ( atleast not for food but if I ever want to get drunk I know where to go). Next time I want breakfast I will stick to McDonalds atleast the food is hot and wont cost $32.00. read more

Service is extremely slow and all servers and bartenders I've encountered on my visits to Cowboy Jack's have been rude. I would rather give my money to a bar/restaurant where I'm not treated as an inconvenience for walking in the door. read more

We had a rather large party for this past weekend and tried to contact the manager several times to get no call or email back. When we did she told us that they could not do a call in or a reservation and that they would only do one tab for our party of 20 and that 75% of our party would need to be present to be seated because they would not occupy that many of there tables at one time. (Sorry your waitress's missed out on those tips as it was a big drinking party) Poor customer service from a manager. We ended up going to Joe Sensers which they were very accommodating with a reservation for 20 and the waitress's were AWESOME. (I know personally my tab for 5 came up to well over $100 and we tip well if the service is good) The food was great as well. We all stayed at Embassy suites and ended up going to Cowboy Jacks for there $2.00 happy hour from 10-12 to find out that you could not get anywhere near the bar to get a drink nor could you find a waitress and if you did it took them a good 15-20 mins to come back with your beer/drink which was warm and/or melted Ice cubes. Bar started emptying out after the midnight time period which then the service got a little better and then security guards running outside for fights and cops coming inside around 1:30. Atmosphere with the Mechanical Bull and the Shuffleboard was nice but if you like standing shoulder to shoulder and smelling sweaty people and waiting FOREVER to get a drink then it is your perfect place. I think I will pass next time if the idea is ever thrown out there again. Maybe someone should call the Bloomington fire department on a fire code for people in one building at a time. Would be interesting. Or food per liquor sales. read more

Management has a pretentious and rude attitude about customer service. They will not accomodate any reservations in or near the bar area even if you call a week in advance. The staff that answers the phones does not give out the critical information that customers need, which requires you to call back and demand a manager. then the manager is rude and has her nose stuck up in the air about their business. They don't want us there so let's not go. read more

The patio is amazing! The food is good. The service is terrible. So, if you like it when a waitress comes to your table within 5 minutes of you sitting down...you like getting your drink order quickly...you need to eat lunch within a 1 hour time window... This is NOT the place for you. read more

Cornbread skillet appetizer was great and surprisingly filling. But - vegetarians be warned, the veggie burger is just a frozen-hockey-puck-style burger on a white bun with a blob of red pepper sauce on it. I definitely wouldn't order that again! read more

VERY UP SET- my wife was throwing me a surprise 60th birthday party. They charged 15 dollars a head for a minimum of 30 people, which was more then the food or service was worth. OVER 400 dollars, the food was poor , from what I saw the amount of food may have equaled about " 50 dollars of food", then when there was left over food they told my wife she couldn't keep the left overs. The waitress was poor on service and didn't smile. When the room got cold, three people ask for the fireplace to me turned which never happen. it was suppose of been a great time for me BUT because my wife was upset it spoiled everything. She had been planning this since September my party was on December 12th. I would not suggest this place to any group gathering. found some place else. read more

Me and my wife had the fish dinner and expected better. The fries were cheap frozen fries. Coleslaw was ok, but the fish was bad, it was like cheap frozen cod, with a terrible crust, way to salty. We had the same meal at champs and the fish and fries were incredible, these were like fast food takeout. We loved the atmosphere of the place and the peanuts, but if we go back well stick with the burgers and appetizers. read more

My wife and I have wanted to go try Captain Jacks for a while now. We went for the first time today, (Wed, February 11th, 2015). We entered the building, apparently through the back door, although, we did not see anything to indicate that it was the back door and we observed several customers exit the door before we went in. Once inside, we found the interior to be as expected and it looked fun. Problems began right away though as we did not know if it was a seat yourself, or wait to be seated type of place. We walked through the croud of people looking for a seat and once we got to the other side of the buidling, we realized, when we saw the receptionist taking names, that we had entered through the back door. She took my name and said it would be a 45 minute wait. The place was packed so I understood. That was not an issue. My wife and I went to the bar to get a drink and they served us sort of cold beer in plastic cups. Well, it was happy hour and the beer was only $2. So I was ok with that. Once we were seated, happy hour was over. It was $2 burger night, so of course, were going to try a burger. Along with our burgers, we ordered some nachos with the add on taco meet. My wife ordered a bottle of beer and a soda. I asked for a tall Stella. The waitress said, ok, and went on her way. A few minutes later, she came back with the bottle of beer and soda my wife ordered, and another plastic cup full of beer for me. The same size cup I got for $2, but was now $6. My second issue with my beer was that it again, was not very cold, and my third, I asked for a tall beer. The cup my beer was served in was not a large cup at all. I don't think it was much more than 12oz. My wifes soda was in a large cup, propably a 20oz cup. I said to the waitress, I asked for a tall beer. She said, one size serves all here, and walked away. Later, our food arived. The nachos were not very good. The chips were soggy. The cheese was melted, but seemed to have been sitting for a while as it was not very warm. The burgers had a good flavor, but were completely plain. Burger patty and a bun. I noticed other people getting burgers with toppings on them. When the waitress came back and asked how things were going, I asked her, I see people with toppings on there burgers, is that extra? she said, yes, $.50 cents per topping. Then she turned and again walked away. This being my first time at this place, I guess I didn't know and I guess the waitress was too busy to mention I could have made my burger better for another buck or two... So, we finished our food and my wife noticed they had mini donuts on the desert menu. She loves mini donuts when we go to the state fair, so I put in an order. They were just simple mini donuts with sugar on them. They were warm, (warmer than the nachos). They were good. The dissapointment was that for $6 we shared 7 of them. At the state fair (with state fair prices), you get 10 for $5. These were almost $1 each. Let me tell you, they were not that good. The waitress again came and asked if everything was ok. I said, their good, but expensive. She said, only $.50 each... I said, no, closer to $1 each. but whatever, lesson learned. She said she would talk to the manager about that, to which I replied, no, that's not necessary. She did mention it to the manager, who came over and said she was sorry we were unhappy with the pricing. She gave us a $5 gift certificate for our next visit. We gave it to some other people on our way out the door. We don't plan on going back. All in all, great presentation, dissapointing execution. read more

I've only ever been here for happy hour. $2 beers, $2 rails, and 1/2 off apps is hard to beat. I was one of the only patrons at the time so the staff was very friendly and attentive. Minus 1 star because of the country music which was 1. loud and 2. country music. read more

The manager of this restaurant was disrespectful and rude to our group of 30 people. We chose Cowboy Jack's to have a fun atmosphere for the night and we left angry and distraught. There was bias because of our age (20-22), treating us as if we were a nuisance to their restaurant. There was only respect expressed on our end, and yet the treatment we received was ridiculous. Used to be decent place for a burger joint/bar, but went there with a friend last week and sat at the bar to order dinner -- my meal came almost 20 minutes before her meal. I took 2 bites of mine, because my friend insisted, but when her meal finally arrived, the waitress slid it across the bar without any reason for the delay or an apology. My friend took a bite and said she couldn't eat it, it was lukewarm with soggy onion rings. We both put our napkins over our meal and waited for our waitress to come over to us so we could cash out. Suddenly the manager came over and was very confrontational, "Is there a problem here?" We didn't complain to our waitress, so how would he get that impression? We start to explain, and the waitress interrupts, "You ordered two separate tickets, that's why it was late..." So apparently, if you are sitting together and order off one menu (waitress's idea), there is no guarantee you'll get to eat together. I could understand if it was a busy night, but there were more than 20 empty seats at the bar. Next time we'll go to Willy McCoy's, you might have to wait for a table, but at least the service and wait staff is exceptional...maybe that's where all of CJ's business went! read more

Have gone here with my friends for Friday and Saturday nights and have had a good time. I recently went on a Saturday night and the place was packed. My friends and i were able to find a table and proceeded to wait...and wait...and wait...for a waitress to stop by. Yes I know they are busy, but a customer should never have to personally go to the hostess stand to grab menus, then proceed to chase the waitresses around the restaurant in order to get someone to take our order. I have NEVER had to chase a waitress around a restaurant before in order to get service. They need more waitresses on the weekends, 3 waitresses for half the restaurant is not enough. The poor girls looked really overworked. Our waitress was nice and sympathetic that we had to wait for service. The food I ordered actually came out quicker than the drinks from the bar! Moral of the story: don't expect to get good service if you go on a weekend night. I'm sure the place is probably great during the day. read more

We went to Cowboy Jacks Bloomington on Sat Night, My first visit there... I was very impressed at the building & the décor, We were seated on the outdoor patio; I was with my husband & 5 yr old daughter. We were chatting about how cool the patio was, then waited approx. 20 minutes to even be greeted.... the waitress, with a handful of dirty plates took our drink order.... we waited another 10-15 minutes to get those drinks, we were ready to order, my daughter was starving, waitress said she would be right back..... another 15 minutes later she stops and says JUst a sec.... by this time our original drinks were gone.... our waitress did not seem to care that people were hungry our thirsty. We went inside & asked to be move, by this we had a water, soda, and one beer; MUCH better inside, our server was nice & quick.... the food was ok... not outstanding. Not sure if this would be a place we would go back to for dinner, maybe drinks only with friends....don't be in a hurry if you sit outside, my suggestion would be get your own drinks at the bar. read more

If you're tired of going somewhere where the place is full of college-age kids trying to bump into each other in a crowd; where you can't hear yourself speak because the music is too loud or carry on a conversation--- you'll like it here. If you're looking for fine dining and delicious cosine --- probably not the place for you. BUT if you're looking for a great place to sit with friends and enjoy a beer on the nice outdoor patio or relax inside their barn ambiance -- again you'll like it. I found our server, Melissa to be fantastic. She was both adorable and attentive. Never sat with an empty beer and she refilled our water glasses too. Wow... I've been around a bit, and seen scary places, and when we got there, a bunch of little league kids were filing out with their coaches and parents... a nice place. I don't often go on the road. I seldom ever venture forth from my hotel to try a local eatery (mostly room service). However, Cowboy Jacks in Bloomington, MN looked interesting. It had the look of an old english pub on steroids recently converted to a bbq joint. I thought I would give it a shot since it was right across the parking lot. Once I went in, I was encouraged by the amount of people and the general liveliness of the place. I decided to head to the bar as I was alone. I ordered a couple Miller Lite's that came in a strange bottle I have never seen before. I assume this is the "new look" for Miller Lite. Anyway, the bartender seemed very friendly and talkative so I struck up a conversation with her. Keep in mind, I have been very happily married for 26 years to the woman of my dreams and only wanted to talk to someone since the day was a VERY long one. We began talking about the ice she was hauling around (for seven different "troughs" all weighing a considerable amount) and when I asked her what time she got off wok she became very cagey. My question was to gage how many hours she had to struggle with this stuff, nothing more. It was like I had asked her the Cardinal of all inappropriate questions. Now, I have never been part of the bar scene, nor do I want to be. And, in hindsight, this question could be perceived as a "pick up line" (which it was totally not). However, imagine my surprise when my very friendly bartender was displaced by a very foul looking young woman who kept giving me the "angry eye" each time she walked by. I chalked this up to a shift change. I ordered my app (po-tater skins - not great) and fried chicken to go (again - not great - fried chicken deep fried in oil - big deal). As I walked out with my "bag o chicken" I realized I had forgotten my credit card at the bar. When I went back in to retrieve it, the friendly/cagey bartender was back at the bar. Now, maybe it is just coincidence that she came back off break just after I left and went on break after I made a comment she construed as a pick up line but I think it was sad, and humiliating. I was not trying to pick up anyone and was just looking for someone to chat with any MAYBE get a good meal. Neither of which that I got at Cowboy Jacks. What a let down. I am sorry for all the road warriors out there that want to feel at home at what could be a cool place like this (and other places) it appears that a-holes have ruined it for us. It's back to room service me. At least the hotel employee who delivers it pretends like they care about the customer. read more

This is the second time in a row that I've had a really poor experience here. The first was about 2 months where it took 45 minutes to salads/burgers over lunch - with incorrect orders and not correcting it. Today, we came in for lunch, and this experience was worst than the first. Our server brought out 3 of the 4 meals (burgers and salads - which took 25 minutes), and said the last one would be right out. Normally, this is not an issue as it's usually just a couple minutes delayed; however, it was an additional 12 minutes that 1 person sat at the table watching the other 3 eat. One person was done by the time the last meal came out. The worst part was - she didn't even apologize for the delay. She just sat it down, and said, "Here you go." There wasn't even an attempt to show that she was sorry about the delay, let alone offer to compensate (i.e. percentage off the bill, etc.) for the situation. All I was looking for was a genuine apology or some type, "Sorry that you had to sit here while the rest of your group ate." On top of that, the meal came with a "side salad," which was a pile of wilted lettuce with 1 cucumber slice and 1 tomato slice. The service was horrible. The food was mediocre. This will be the last time I go here. read more
