The quality and workmanship is far below substandard. no concrete was used on the shower floor and no impermeable membrane. also in the shower, they used sheetrock instead of waterproof backer board. Chesp, cheap, cheap. I am now spending $12K to remediate these issues, as the shower floor flexed during showers. Also the dry wall work is terrible as every seam is visible. This is the framing work of the builder who is building my new home. I had a pre-drywall/pre-cover inspection done by a private third party inspector. Notice the gaps in the lateral bracing. Do you think that is acceptable? Per the inspector, it's not and we would want that to be fixed. It's lateral bracing that helps prevent framing members from twisting and buckling. If they are not fastened properly they won't do what they are supposed to do. The builder was supposed to fixed the gaps but didn't. Instead, started installing insulations and the drywalls to cover up the defects. Refusing to remove the insulations and drywalls so I can get it re-inspected which I am allowed to per the contract. Therefore, breaching the contract. Now I had to hire an attorney in order for me to get my escrow back since they breach the contract. If you are looking to build your new home, please be sure to have a pre-drywall inspection done prior to the installation of the insulations and drywalls. If not, the structural integrity of your home will possibly not in compliance with building codes. I'm glad I caught this before closing. Unfortunately, based on the Google reviews, other homeowners who had their new dream home built by this builder weren't so lucky. We were scheduled to buy and brand new build in Pomona Manvel, Tx. Prior to closing we read the warranty book closely and observed that workers and contractors were violating the very issues that would have voided the warranty for a homeowner. We documented so much prior to closing and would report each violation to their Corporate offices. We reported so many violations of their own warranty that they cancelled our purchase. 2/25 Status Update: - Coventry has address some of the minor warranty complaints, however many of the issues remain unaddressed. - The issue around the bath tub remains unresolved with Coventry still claiming that the issue cannot be addressed because it is due to water damage (again, this is for surfaces around a bath tub, literally inches away). A couple of additional examples of issues previously not mentioned in hopes that Coventry would address them: - Poor water drainage around home. Photograph included of both sides of home taken the same day within a few seconds of each other. Per a third party inspection report: "Drainage needs improvement on the west perimeter fence. Observed standing water on this side of the house. Water is not able to properly drain as the condenser units are in the way. Drainage swale is not continuous at sides. The drainage swale must be kept clear and continuously sloped to drain water properly. Our sales consultant was great. We are very unhappy with how they handled the construction of the home. We have an issue with our yard. The sod was not laid correctly. We have gaps in the yard that are a hazard. They consulted with the landscaping company and they refused to correct. We are very disappointed with their lack of concern. read more

I requested a warranty item when a roofer hit a water line in my roof. It is out of code compliance because it is too close to the roof. Per the Dan Marcos compliance officer, they should've put a metal plate there. Coventry is denying my warrenty claim because I have been in my house past the 2yr warranty period & it passed inspection for them. This line thay was hit flooded my master bathroom, my master closet & my master bedroom. Everything is pulled out. I currently have no bathroom & everything from the bathroom cabinets & my closet are stacked up in my living room. How can a code violations not Trump a warranty time frame. Their customer service is very poor. They are about making a dollar & not backing up their service to their homeowners. I purchased a Coventry home in Viridian approximately 16 months ago. A few weeks ago, during a heavy rainstorm, I discovered water leaking through my bedroom ceiling. Assuming it was a roof leak or a cracked pipe, I immediately contacted a water mitigation company to assess and address the issue. During the investigation and mitigation process, it was revealed that a vent pipe leading to the roof had been left unfinished by the builder. This open pipe had allowed water to enter my home continuously for the past 16 months, saturating the attic insulation and drywall ceiling. To be clear--the builder left an exposed roof vent pipe open to the elements, causing prolonged water damage and mold growth. Despite this clear construction defect, Coventry has refused to reimburse me for the water mitigation costs, arguing that I should have contacted them before taking any action. They claim they would have fixed the problem had I submitted a warranty request first. However, without knowing whether the issue was a plumbing failure or a structural defect, how could they have guaranteed an immediate resolution? It is difficult to believe that Coventry would have taken full responsibility without first confirming their own negligence--though the Warranty Department insists otherwise. Given the recent lawsuit against Coventry in Houston over mold-related issues, I find that hard to trust. So, in the event of another leak or water damage in the future, am I expected to wait for Coventry's response while water continues to seep in, risking further structural damage and mold growth? Does that sound reasonable to any homeowner? The cost of reimbursing my mitigation expenses is insignificant compared to the damage this situation does to Coventry's reputation. To make matters worse, this is the second home I've purchased from them--after this experience, it will certainly be my last. I will strongly advise my family and friends to steer clear as well. This is not the level of accountability or customer care one would expect from a reputable home builder. ***UPDATE: After posting this, I received a call from the Coventry Warranty team, who reaffirmed that they will NOT reimburse me for the water leak mitigation costs I incurred. This is the design for a spec home at Windsong Ranch, Prosper. Initially, I thought the issues I noticed were just cleaning problems, but they ran much deeper. The lack of communication and transparency from Coventry Homes was appalling no updates or emails until 30 days before closing. Then, they gave me just one day and pressured me into choosing a lender due to their own mistake. Their "preferred" lenders, like Jet Homeloans, are a complete scam. Jet Homeloans offered rates that didnt even match those of big banks and provided a terrible customer experience. When I tried to escalate the issue, I was met with roadblocks. The only escalation option before closing was through the sales counselors email, and after signing the contract, the corporate office staff hung up on me when I called to address the issue of Jet Homeloans refusing to float down the rate during a market dip. I have only lived in a brand new house built 2023 and I have had to buy a new garage motor because the motor used burned out as the door was heavy, I just changed the fresh air intake motor for my AC unit, that burned out. I have changed out pretty much all my door handles, and I have also changed out the LED disc that is supposed to last 50,000 hours continuous use. This is the worst. read more

We are in the process of building with Coventry. Initially, we were very pleased with their communication and the overall process. That has now changed. The design center neglected to include a dedicated outlet for my outdoor kitchen on the build order. It was included on the diagram, but did make it to the order. I questioned this outlet during the framing process, but Coventry is refusing to include the 1 outlet, even though they acknowledge this was not my error, but the design center that they contract. Buyer beware. UPDATE: After posting the initial review, Coventry reached and changed their position. They agreed to add the dedicated outlet that was not transferred to the build order by the design center. We are hoping this is the final hiccup and we are looking forward to what will be our beautiful new home. I do believe Coventry needs to revisit their policy of absolutely no changes, even though the error was made by one of their partners. read more

Recently, I gave 1 star due to some disagreement between Coventry and me. I am still not happy with their thinking process. However, it is not fair that this disappointment weights 100%. I have to give a credit to the Coventry Sales Rep Tania; she took care of us like family. If she was not there, I might consider other builders. Let me begin by saying in know way did I expect that a newly built home would have no minor imperfections. I purchased newly built spec home and during initial walk through it was obvious no one pre-inspected the home. There was chipped molding, missing texture on Sheetrock, missing caulk, drawers loose, large amount of paint spot defect etc. The response is we will take care of it but you cant delay closing until you ensure it's done based on the sale agreement you sign. Within 15 days of sale I had to submit 21 warranty request for issues missed during walkthrough to include scratched window glass, failed seal in window, toilet not flushing, dented window frame, cabinet drawer face fell off etc. They found a pipe in the toilet and shower valve broken in master. Toilet was fixed but it's been over two weeks and no one has informed me or scheduled for broken valve repair which requires tearing out the tile in the shower. I ask Max the PM and am repeatirely told he will check on it. Some of others repairs are finally being completed. Except the dented window they are telling me that replace it. it was present and noticed before I moved in the home (moved In 17 days after purchase) therefore that negates any claim that I could have caused it and because it's high on the window the only way it could have been dented would be at install. This is unacceptable. The warranty service is substandard, the system to submit claims is faulty they dont even get all your requests, there is no response, you calll the number they give and no one answers or calls you back. read more

The intention of sales person is take way my entire earnest amount. Even they raise the cancellation form , not even given time to think on that and marked as voided within one day. They have been out twice and end their report with "we left with AC working properly at this time." what a joke. Trim crooked, paint peeling off the wall, wavy drywall, wood floors peeling off the ground, paint has runs, drips, and sags, carpet peeling up, sink loose, cabinet doors rubbing, front and back doors stick after rain. I'm 240 lbs and have to push my body into it to open. seems like a fire hazard. the list goes on and on and our third party inspector caught a laundry list before we closed. my brother bought a David Weekley home just down the street over a year ago and has had zero issues. They brag about the one year warranty, and I'm seeing this is the way they justify shoddy work. The worst part is they have structured their system where all managers or higher ups are out of reach. I bought my home two years ago and of course Coventry gave a two year warranty, rightfully so, because I have had issue after issue, ac, lights going out, light flickering and this morning to top all I woke up to water all over. My warranty just ended in July, so I call none the less thinking with this issue which by the way has to do with the piping inside the walls and the lady basically said, oh well your time is up, you on your own. No concern at all. They build with the cheapest of materials and has the highest of prices. My neighbors also have shared with me their horror stories. I have had three homes built. At the end of the day, one-third of my driveway installed by Coventry Homes (subcontractor) will need to be replaced even though cracks started appearing shortly after I closed on the property. Coventry Homes claims it "Homeowner Maintenance" and will not fix it. The cause the cracks appear to be from poor driveway foundation and base installation issues. UPDATE - SUCCESS. WORST BUILDER EVER!!!!!! Getting a Coventry home was the WORST DECISSION we ever made. I am not even going even going to talk about the challenges we faced during the build process as they blame COVID for that but I am here to give feedback about some of the concerns that we had when we had our 2nd walk through BEFORE CLOSING and those concerns are yet to be addressed and we have lived in that home for over 2 years now. We have drywall crack issues, we have grass issues, stucco issues which were all talked about during the 2nd walk through but yet after 2 years they are still not being resolved. The employees there do not even last long enough to fix the issues. Just in our community we had probably over 10 site managers changed in the span of 2 years. Every time the site manager changes, we go back to square one and have to explain everything to the new guy and by the way he even starts working on the issues, he leaves the company as well. Where do I even start? You just have to make sure that you're stopping by the construction site a couple times a week to make sure that they didn't put the wrong frame on the front door, wrong frame for the bathtub in the master bedroom, that the cabinets that were installed in the working kitchen aren't broken, that the back door is not too big for the frame and you don't have a hard time locking and unlocking it. That the master bedroom closet looks like what we asked. That you don't have a water leak in the sprinkler system (that is NOT covered by warranty) months into moving in to your home. That the plumbing is adequate enough so you are able flush the toilets every time without it clogging. I could go on. When the financing portion of the process comes about make sure that you notify them 30 days prior to the closing date that you have your own lender and won't be going with their lender. If they give you a closing date and it's in less than 30 days and you didn't tell them about your lender, you're out of luck. Don't bother calling corporate office because Max, the VP over the financing, will not only not return your phone calls and messages, he will tell the sales associate to tell you that HE WILL NOT BE CALLING YOU BACK. Save yourselves the headache and do not go with Coventry. Where do I begin? First off my wife and I never got to the phase with Coventry. The process is extremely unorganized and we never knew where we were at in the process, despite repeated inquiries. We never received a clear and comprehensive explanation of the process. We were given basic information, such as expecting calls from low voltage and the design center, but we still feel completely clueless regarding the overall process and the next steps. Additionally, there were numerous mistakes that me and my wife identified throughout the process. Such as, corrections to the contract, and constantly inquiring about credits for items we elected to not include in the home. Incorrect floor plans was sent to the low voltage team, resulting in the rescheduling of our first appointment. The second appointment, while it had the correct floor plan, still did not include structural modifications. Similarly, the floor plan sent to the design center also lacked these modifications. Our first design center appointment was quite disappointing. We were presented with exterior color choices on sheets of printer paper in poor lighting conditions, which is not ideal for selecting exterior colors. There was only one white color option available, and we were told if we wanted more choices we had to bring our own examples. Moreover, the new design center standard options were very basic and builder-grade. One of the reasons we chose Coventry was because the previous design center company offered a wide range of high-quality standard options, which we expect for a Build On Your Lot (BOYL) project at this price point. Furthermore, we had to cancel our second design center appointment because we had not been given the option to select certain items that were required for the second appointment. After the first appointment we had $31K in upgrades in which we felt were builder grade. After discussing this with the sales manager he was completely clueless and had to reach out to the regional manager. We had a conversation with the regional manager and he agreed we should have better options and informed us that we should've been given the option to visit another design center for build on your lot. Our issues were we expressed this to the design center and the sales manager. Had we not pushed the issue we would've paid thousands of dollars for items that were sub-par and should've been included as standard. During contract A negotiations we requested a metal front door and were informed that this would be chosen at the design center. However, once we visited the design center they did not have any metal doors to choose from and basically told us we had to choose a basic door. For the sake of time I won't list all the issues we had with Conventry but in the end with had a teleconference with the regional manager Matt and he agreed they were negligent in their responsibilities and offered additional incentives as a compromise. Due to the numerous issues and lack of integrity we felt the company is extremely shady and tries to hide cost from you so we elected to cancel the contract. Matt agreed and said he would send us a cancellation form. We finally received the form, after numerous inquiries, completed the form and return it to the sales manager. At this point our realtor is handling communications on our behalf. It's been 3 weeks and now Matt is not answering our messages and blocked my realtors number. All we're asking for is our $7500 deposit to be refunded after serious negligence on Conventry's end. Since we can't seem to get a response our next step is KSAT news 12 on your side to see if we can bring awareness to veterans to stay away from this builder *Update: Miraculously, 45 minutes after this review was posted my realtor and I get a text from Matt saying "I'm sorry for the late response. I am out this week. It did not get approved for a refund due to the circumstances and policies set forth in the contract". I immediately responded and asked what specific policies in the contract he was referring to but he never responded and blocked us. Jan 2021, I signed purchase contract to buy the second most expensive floor plan at Klein Orchard subdivision. My first year went by on August 2022 but I haven't got a chance to enjoy the moment of having new home. I have been struggling to get Coventry Homes builder fixing issues that show inspection reports. I feel like I bought foreclosure home not new home. In the past few months, I have tried to make appointments to fix issues that I already submitted in MHI Home Warranty website. I have 2 days off in one month. Unfortunately, the appointments on my day off have not been kept as scheduled. I tried to make appointment on weekend. My weekend appointment did not show up. I moved to new home in August 2021. I spent 4 months back and forward with Coventry Homes builder to fix issues in my house. Then, April 5, 2022, L&W Supply Company vehicle while deliver sheetrock to a new construction Coventry home, reversed into my driveway, hit my garage. HIT and RUN. They denied their truck hit my house when I verbally told them. Luckily, I have security camera to prove it was their fault. After waiting 2 months for repairing the damages, I had to fight with Coventry Home builder to get inspector and to replace lintel. Reason to replace lintel because the original lintel was used for bricks. Bricks have been discontinued; stone is much heavier than bricks, lintel has to be stronger to support the stone. I had to hire Attorney because Coventry Home Builder didn't have inspector to inspect damage of my house and didn't want to replace lintel. August 8, 2022, the settlement between Coventry Homes Builder, L&W Supply company and I was failed. I disagreed with the settlement from Coventry and L&W Supply Company because the settlement didn't give me any good. I had to pay $2701 Attorney fee and $1200 inspection fee because Coventry - L&W Supply Company vehicle hit my house - HIT and RUN. My conclusion: Coventry really push to sell and make me think Coventry Homes builder is a good builder. After having this new home, I don't feel proud that I have a nice home, the second most expensive floor plan in the community. I don't feel I am the one who pay Coventry Home Builder to build my house. After having this new home, I feel I am a beggar to ask them to give the house to me and whatever they can give to me with their least effort. The way they treated me make me feel I have been wasting my time, wasting my energy to beg them fixing issues of my house and keeping my appointment. I don't want to invite my friends, my relatives to see my home because I feel like I live in a junk house with lot of issues. For one year, I been worked with a sales representative to get screen doors for an 8x12' sliding glass door in my new home. This was an item noted on the inspection report and promised would be addressed. A year later, the sales representative was no longer employed by MHI and corporate denies all knowledge of the arrangement, suggesting the MHI employee wasn't representing MHI at the time he agreed to provide screens. Do NOT buy a Coventry home. Not only will you get a sub-standard home and have to deal with Coventry's nightmare customer service, but they may also fuck up enough to get your family killed (think loose gas valve in fireplace that's virtually undetectable until it's too late). They might've had a decent reputation pre-merger, but I purchased my home in January 2023 and it has been nightmare after nightmare. They do NOT want to honor their warranty nor fix any of their screwups. I have had to fight, argue, and threaten with legal action for practically every issue. Pre-closing, their was a bad leak in the garage, Kelly insisted that they would fix it so there wouldn't be mold. Guess what happened? Mold. Then they kept lying to me about removing the moldy parts, good thing I hired a mold inspector. Post-closing, I hired a fireplace inspector who found issues, without even coming out to look, Coventry sent me a letter certifying that the fireplace had no issues. A few weeks later, I smelled a gas leak. THEN they sent the fireplace contractor out, who found a loose valve that he said was loose from installation. EIGHT MONTHS of a slow gas leak. A few weeks after that there was a loose valve under the stove that caused another gas leak. Besides electrical, plumbing, and HVAC issues, I am now fighting with Coventry over framing issues. What started off as bulges in the ceiling drywall has evolved into two separate framing issues and now I'm fighting to have a third one fixed. Here is Coventry's playbook if you report an issue: (1) refuse to admit fault; (2) if you push, they will send someone out who will tell you nothing is wrong even if it's a glaring problem; (3) if you keep pushing, they MIGHT send someone out to try to fix it; (4) if they can't fix it, they will tell you it's not covered by warranty. I'm a lawyer myself and I'm sure that's the only reason I've gotten some of the stuff fixed, but I have already asked a colleague to look into legal action. Completely unacceptable that Coventry is refusing to fix things that are clearly their fault. Oh fun fact, they fired the construction manager 2 days after my closing and they want to convince me that my house was built properly. I see a lot of comments talking about how great Kelly is, don't believe them. Kelly is a salesperson, that's it. She says what she needs to say to close a deal. She promised me when the fireplace was installed in the wrong spot that when they move it, there won't be any issues. I was terrified of a gas leak when they moved it, and she said don't worry, if we mess up we will fix it. Nope! When my fireplace inspector found issues, they refused. Didn't even come out to look at it, just said they knew it was correct. If it weren't for the gas leak I smelled, they wouldn't have bothered. And I'm very lucky to have smelled the leak when I did because there was a freeze that weekend in Houston and I would've turned on that fireplace and my family would be DEAD. But Coventry doesn't care. RUN AS FAR AS YOU CAN FROM COVENTRY!!!! read more

My Husband and I entered into a contract with Coventry Homes in Cypress, Texas to build us a new home on 01/06/2024. We were only 10 days into the contract when we determined that this was not the builder for us. Since we were still in the planning phase, we requested a refund and was denied the refund even though Coventry Homes has not started the project. We submitted $17,000 in Earnest Money and this company is making every effort to keep our money with out providing any services. We decided not to move forward after spending time at the Design Center when we determined that everything that is standard with other home builders is an upgrade with Coventry Homes. Even their upgrades are Sub Par and SUPER Expensive. This is where they will make up the difference in the price of the home as the standard choices are standards from the year 1994. We also decided not to move forward after reading numerous COMPLAINTS from Customers who are experiencing the SAME PROBLEMS OR WORSE. PLEASE, PLEASE, DO NOT BUY A HOME FROM COVENTRY HOMES UNTIL YOU DO SOME RESEARCH. Now, we are looking at taking legal actions as Customer Service and Upper Management are no help. read more

Stay away from Conventry at Dunham pointe build quality is horrible and there plans have the smallest rooms. They do not give you the dimensions or the dimensions are not accurate. And they rush the build process. Do not trust any of the sales reps. read more

If you have a list of 100 builders and if coventry is one of them, I would suggest put them on position 101, unless you want to fight continues battles to make sure warranty items are taken care of. I was promised a smooth process, that didn't happen. I can provide details as needed. Interesting I was told to write to Coventry for additional details. I wish I could juta reply to the lady who asked for details, but I can tell that I sent an email two weeks ago and no one has taken the time to respond. I am a Coventry home owner who struggle during the whole process and even now, so If you have patience and want to have a stressful year and a half, then Coventry is your option. read more

Great home but the landscapers they hired were awful and the warranty dept for Coventry are not helpful. We got some awful trees. Notified them soon after we moved in about the trees. Yes we signed that the stuff looked good but we were under the assumption the trees were taken care of by coventry and/or the landscapers during the 36 days prior to our buying the house. We know now to being a certified Arborist to the walk through and don't sign anything but we feel that if we didn't sign the build would of paid us 500 plus out money back and cancelled the contract. We are now out thousands of dollars and no help from the builder. Almost everyone in the new section of the neighborhood has lost at least one tree. read more

Businesses go downhill after they're acquired by PE firms or publicly traded companies -- and this is exactly what happened to Coventry when Dream Finder Homes bought them in late 2021. Our house is about a year old and has over 20 unresolved visual and structural issues. They were honestly so nice and diligent about warranty requests (fixing mistakes THEY made) in the first 6 months post-closing. Either they have a secret cap on the # of mistakes they're willing to repair for customers OR their new umbrella company (DFH) is prioritizing shareholder value over quality and integrity. Probably a mix of both! It's a matter of time before they piss off enough customers and lose another multi-million dollar lawsuit. read more

I realize your response it to keep the peace, but it's too little too late. Where were you after we emailed the vp Rudy and got no response? Where were you the four times we called the construction regional manager and got no response? Where were you when our house sat vacant for four months because your company didn't order enough tile? Your company has a bad reputation in my community. You were complacent while you let an unqualified construction manager run over the buyers and the sales person. You put this person in charge of the biggest purchase someone can make in life, and I know the things he did were not just related to our house; he did this across the community. We sat and anguished over our build for 22 months and 3 failed attempts to get us closed in a timely manner, which cost you rate lock extensions because we were not going to pay for them. Now it's our turn to tell our journey to anyone reading this. As a company, you need to remember that social media has impact. I see your response about forwarding my concerns and using warranty - which we will be because we have been closed 5 weeks and still do not have a microwave or an oven. Yes - read it again, there is a hole in our cabinetry where a microwave and an oven should be and we are living in a home without them. You coerced us to close without them. Now we have to begin running a laundry list of issues to your warranty department that should have been done prior to close. Each time a warranty appointment happens, one of us has to be home to receive them. With the list of items we have, we will be taking weeks away from work. We followed your direction and filled out "observation forms" six different times that repeatedly listed our concerns, and now we have to continue filling warranty claims out until they get fixed. We are resilient and we will do what we need to, but we will not forget. read more
