Liked this hotel. The front desk was welcoming and friendly. The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. The lobby is nice and comfy.

Skillet meatballs
Audrey E.

I travel a lot for work, stayed here for a trip. The hotel is nice, rooms are clean. The courtyard bistro food is ok. Nothing great, felt like you overpay for mediocre quality food. I ordered the skillet meatballs for $15 and honestly with how the cashier was hyping it up I was expecting it to be good but unfortunately it wasn't appetizing at all. The meatballs tasted like it was from a frozen bag of meat definitely not freshly made. Tasted rubbery, and the sauce it came in was from a jar of pasta sauce. The picture of the skillet of meatball that they advertised looked more appealing than what came out. In the description, it stated it comes with some artisan toast but you get some weird smelling bread that was inedible. Service was ok nothing to write home about at the bistro. Ambiance is good, order the food and find a seating area in the bistro or in the lobby area of hotel. Definitely wouldn't come back here to eat.

Eggs Your Way

Restaurant review: The food here is good. But be prepared for a lot of sass and rudeness from the cashier/guy who makes the coffee. At first, we waited by the cashier to order breakfast of which he didn't say hi or anything for a few minutes. We asked him if it's a sit down and order ordeal since we had never been here. He's like please give me a minute. Still no hi. Like ok it was just a question. I wasn't rushing him. Weird. So then he comes by and takes our order. Still no hi. My mom said she didn't want toast with the eggs. He said do you want fruit or something like that. My mom just said sure if you have it. He mumbles under his breath I wouldn't be offering it otherwise. Wtf ? Lol . Ok weird. So then our food comes. We both ordered eggs our way. Perfect amount of food. Not too much, not too little. I liked that you can get tomatoes or potatoes. I eat tomatoes every day in my breakfast. I got up to refill my coffee. All of them were empty. My cup was half full and the lid was off. Unfortunately, it slipped out of my hand by accident. The cashier guy was hiding in the back so I couldn't tell him there was a spill. So I went to the host guest check in for the hotel and informed her. She was super sweet and was like no worries at all. And she told me she'd have them make more coffee. The cashier guy eventually comes out and starts shaking his head mad at the spill. I informed him that I told someone to bring out a wet floor sign and that I'm sorry. He was a total d-- about it. Like I already felt bad. This man had such a stinky attitude. I don't know his namr but he was hispanic and had short black hair. Honestly not sure what his problem is. Anyways. The chef in the back is a super sweet lady. She brought out more coffee and wished us a Merry Christmas. Hotel review: The hotel is beautiful, clean, has a great gym open 24/7, and the hosts at the front desk are all so sweet. The hotel itself is quite, usually lots of business crowd. Parking is spacious 15/night. They upgraded us free of charge to a corner suite. We had just ran away from the Leta (a hilton hotel, which was a nightmare.) They were so accomodating here. Beds are comfy. Bathroom and room are all spotless. Everything felt new and clean. Felt like we were in a five star hotel, just a Marriott Courtyard; but managers are doing something right. 5 star for hotel. 3 for restaurant. I give it a solid 4 for this place!!!!!

Imagine trying to watch a game or the morning news with the lighting blocking, obscuring your view from every angle.

Courtyard by marriott.... I don't recommend it. It's it's clean it's well decorated and a quietly nice place to sleep. But there's no included breakfast. No bagel, no banana, your breakfast bar, absolutely nothing. Shockingly not even a complimentary coffee. Don't get me wrong. They have beautiful breakfast options. The cheapest thing on the menu is a plain bagel for $8.00. At almost $300 a night. for a single occupancy. This is a joke. And just one more somewhat harsh criticism. When you do have a cup of coffee $3.00.BTW THE VIEW OF THE TV AS YOU TRY TO WATCH. THE NEWS IS OBSCURED BY LIGHTING.IT'S THE MOST ANNOYING THING EVER! I'm actually getting even more irritated as I write this review!!!

We stayed here the weekend that we dropped our daughter off to start college life. It was comfortable, clean, and what we hoped for. The front desk associates were welcoming and very nice to chat with. The lobby has a warm tropical scent, and immediately sets the tone for vacation and relaxation. The people above us sounded like they were doing a rendition of the musical STOMP! If you stay on the lower floor, you will definitely hear the people above you. It didn't really bother us because we were tired enough to zonk out, but it's definitely worth mentioning. We will stay here again the next time that we visit, it was perfect for us.

Super dark room with a view of the parking lot through a fake balcony.

Clean, modern location that has been renovated recently. It's conveniently located near the airport and UCSB. Nice pool area with fire pits and putting greens. Downsides: It's right in the flight path so you hear jets landing early morning and night. No complimentary coffee for guests. No Breakfast bar. (They do have a Starbucks where you can pay $3.80 for a single coffee) Parking is $15 per day, even for Bonvoy members. (Why?) Seems like you get nickel and dimed for everything. Rooms are ok, depending on where they are located. We got one that was north facing and super dark so we switched. If you want a quiet hotel, you'll get it because it seems to be practically deserted compared to the other hotels in the area.

Shower has soap, shampoo, and conditioner on the wall to use. No fussing with small bottles.

My husband and I are so impressed with our room, the staff, and the amenities, and we haven't even been in the room for an hour. Maria at the front desk was so welcoming and warm. She offered us water, extra pillows, and was very sweet. She is a gem. In fact, all the staff we have met so far have been amazing. We will be coming back. We come to Santa Barbara from Orange County to get away from the craziness of the busy city, and our room is the perfect place to relax. Everything is clean. The bathroom is spotless. Very impressed.

This is my first stay at this hotel. I was in SB for some girl time with my daughter for her birthday and did not want to have to rush back home or be laden with heavy traffic. The hotel is conveniently located close to UCSB and close to many restaurants and shopping areas. The interior is clean and inviting. My room was nicely furnished with everything I could possibly need for my short stay and included a mini fridge and microwave. Molly checked us in upon arrival and she was extremely lovely , welcoming and helpful ! Would definitely stay here again.

The staff are always incredibly warm and welcoming. I'd especially like to give a shout-out to Tommy, who has gone above and beyond to help us on multiple occasions! The complimentary breakfast buffet is excellent, with a great variety: freshly baked bread and bagels, egg and ham sandwiches, bacon, eggs, plenty of fresh fruit, and yogurt. The kitchen team is very kind and often accommodates guests who arrive a little late before closing. We've also requested gluten-free items several times, and they've always provided delicious GF bread or muffins. The rooms are consistently new, clean, and surprisingly spacious -- they often feel nearly twice the size of comparable hotel rooms. The kitchenette has everything we need to prepare simple meals, and we've even celebrated birthdays "on the road" here. We love the amenities as well. The gym is convenient, and the courtyard area is a highlight with its ping-pong table, putting green, pool, and spa. The location is fantastic: very convenient to everything, yet always peaceful and quiet. Even though the airport is nearby, we've never been bothered by airplane noise (unlike some other places that are directly under the flight path). We will definitely keep coming back, and we highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Goleta or visiting UCSB. It truly feels like a home away from home!

It's a college town so everything is nearby. The rooms are clean and smell like they're brand new. The ambiance is beautiful but the pricing is a bit high although it's the same with anywhere you try to stay around here. With limited rooms around the city prices tend to stay higher than any other city hotels. It is a newer hotel so they are able to charge a premium over others. The sink was clogged, needing multiple minutes to drain. The bathroom has no vent, which is intentional, but I can't imagine why - it smelled every time someone did number 2. The hand lotion smelled nice. The blankets were not thick enough for the weather and kinda rough. But the decorations in the hallway and room were nice; some beautiful photos of the town scenery. Rooms were tidy and cleaned after one night. Free bottled water. There was some construction going on but we weren't affected by it at all. The breakfast wasn't great - we paid for complimentary breakfast, but we only got one meal ticket for two days for some reason; though they gave us the second one when we asked. They gave you huge portions at the counter, but the eggs and potatoes were tasteless; fortunately rescued by the hot sauce they had. The bacon was too dry and sausages too salty. I'm not very picky so it wasn't a big deal, but definitely not a plus. And tip wasn't included, you need to pay tip on top of the strongly advertised "complimentary breakfast." We weren't told or pressured to tip though, but I must be wondering if the staff are being paid a good wage if even the breakfast needs tip. And then to add insult to injury, when writing the tip and signing the pen ran out of ink. The gym was all right, with cables, benches, free weights, cardio machines, plenty of mirrors, towels, and water. Can't complain there. I didn't use the pool or conference room but they looked nice. Hearing about our bad experience, the clerk didn't charge us for parking (you need to put the guest placard in your car and are charged per night). Plenty of parking. Out of the 3 front desk clerks we met, two of them were nice and helpful. The other I would call bare minimum polite, Lastly, after having already driven two hours we realized a phone and charger were left at the hotel. They agreed to mail them to us at our expense, but didn't check with us all the details. We later realized the post offices were all closed and the earliest we could get the phone was in 2 days which would be after our flight already left. It's real lucky we realized and drove back to get the phone, no thanks to the staff, who would've sent it to us way too late without checking. Not a terrible experience but they could've done better.

However, I haven't had time yet to inform the hotel that my son had some red bites on the parts of his body that were not covered by his short sleeved, short bottom pajamas They were not mosquito bites; weather was cold, so he was 100% covered with a jacket during the day. I don't know if it was fleas or bed bugs or maybe neither. I hadn't looked for bugs. By the time I noticed, we had already checked out of the hotel. We were in Room 117, if staff wants to check. Never had a problem before with Best Westerns so hopefully this was just a one-time situation. The heater/air conditioner in this room during our stay in February does not have the best sensor. It hears the room well, but as soon as it reaches the threshold, i.e. 72 degrees, it immediately switches to blowing cold air. We alternating constantly between being cold then hot then cold, etc. The heating unit A/C is near the bed, so it is not too comfortable to sleep on tbe side of the bed closest to the AC. Regarding the breakfast, there was only one type of fruit available every day of our stay (oranges), and every day was the exact same breakfast (scrambled eggs, potatoes, and sausage) though the menu says that they alternate between sausage and bacon. They could benefit from additional seating on rainy-weather days. I had to take food back to my room since there wasn't always enough seating in the dining area. The automatic doors open frequently during breakfast time; this created a cold draft. Sand bags were being used to help keep rain water from entering. We look for places with access to laundry rooms. The machines only accept coins; this is a bit outdated to require coins. Staff has quarters in exchange for cash. But, what if the hotel runs out of quarters? Not sure if they can open the machine to get quarters or if there are no quarters, maybe customers would be out of luck. Laundry room closed by 10 pm. Opened at 7:00 am. I wish I had known this info regarding laundry hours when making my reservation. The info is provided on a card once you arrive. Changing of towels and making of beds is by request only. They informed me on a piece of paper, which I had not read. Other places automatically change towels and make beds without customers needing to ask. Staff was cheerful and helpful to provide fresh towels upon request at the front desk. Pool area looked nice, but we didn't use it due to rainy weather.

I can choose to pay more for a Ritz or less for a Courtyard, but the rooms are always clean and amenities on brand. I have stayed at a few "rough" Marriott properties over the years. The staff was friendly and helpful (when they were available.) CONS: The rooms and linens are in need of updating. My sheets were stained and the shower pan in our room was gross. Don't be fooled like I was. Our tub didn't drain, the paint was bubbling off the bathroom walls, the sliding screen door outside was a huge challenge to work, but overall the biggest qualm I have is that the air conditioning doesn't work. There is also nothing they can do about it, as it's a known issue. The windows don't have screens, so you can't open a window, and you're left tossing and turning all night in the scratchy linens. This hotel needs far more than a coat of paint. Oh, and they charge $32 per night for parking for some ridiculous reason. I do not recommend staying here.
