Our New Year's weekend stay at this motel was unfortunately a letdown. The toilet in our room would not flush, and even after three tries, George at the front desk couldn't fix it. He kindly offered us a different room, but that one had a busted TV. The whole place felt dirty and worn out, not relaxing at all. We weathered one night in our booking, and between the paper thin walls and the rain, I could barely sleep because of all the relentless noise. It was torturous. Shoutout to George, though--he was truly the only redeeming factor. Super understanding and helpful. We didn't stick around for breakfast, checking out early to dodge more disappointments. Word of advice: book directly to avoid any third-party headaches and save your money. In a nutshell, if you're okay with just a place to crash that isnt your car, this might do. Otherwise, look almost anywhere else for a better experience. read more

Not the worst hotel, the staff were very friendly, our room was pretty clean - nothing crazy. But I'm not sure I'd stay here again unless I just needed a quick stop for a night or something like that. It's priced pretty reasonable for the area and what it offers. It's definitely a "motel" type place. The doors and windows open out into the walkways, stairways and parking lot. The rooms have a nice view of the mountains but you can't enjoy it unless you don't care about people walking by and staring into your room constantly. The bathroom is incredibly small and the door opens into it so you can't bathe or use the restroom with the door open - there simply isn't room lol. Our tub wouldn't drain very well so you end up standing in ankle-deep water during your shower. And the toilet seat was soooo old! It was all scratched and dented and was terribly uncomfortable! The breakfast offering was pretty sad - just a pastry and a yogurt. But it's pandemic times so that seems to be commonplace right now. The queen room did have a microwave and fridge and they were clean and worked well. The AC unit worked well also. It's a little sketchy in the parking lot after dark - I didn't feel comfortable walking up alone. They have people hanging out and being loud at the picnic tables around the grounds and parking lot. VERY unimpressed with my stay. We booked a few weeks ahead of time, and called the week before our stay to ask about an early check in policy. We were driving in (about 6-7 hours) and needed to get ready before a wedding locally. We were told our room would be ready 12pm-1pm. When we arrived at 1:30, the front desk attendant (young African American man) had headphones in and didn't respond to us until I greeted him a second time loudly enough. He told us he would NEVER let a guest in early and turned us away. We ended up having to wait until 3 and then took 12 mins to check us in. Left us with 18 mins to get ready for the wedding instead of the 2 hours we expected to have. The room is gross and poorly maintained. Super super disappointed at close to $300 a night. Spiders crawling out of the drains and peeling toilet seat. Questionable discoloration on the ceiling could be mold?? You're better off sleeping in your car Also, only gave one roll of single ply toilet paper. Seriously???? read more

Older complex, a little dated but overall clean. I book a lot of stays for my employees and myself through Choice Hotels (diamond member) so I typically know what to expect with every Choice Hotel from their budgets to their boutique. I came into their tiny lobby but was a little taken back when the individual working behind the counter (a young male with a forearm tat) asked that I masked up even though the mandate in California for indoor spaces was dropped last week. He handed me a mask and I complied (don't want to freak anyone out). Well....I left my key in the room when I went out to dinner so I had to go back to the front desk for a new key. I was blown away when this same (words I can't use in a review) individual came out of the back with no mask and proceeded to make a new card key...still no mask, WTH! Of course, I had to ask what was up.....no comment. Just gave me a dirty look. Management, if you're still concerned or want to protect your hypocritical employees, put up a large plastic shield to protect them. If you're still going to promote mask mandates after this state removes them, I'll find a different place to stay next time I'm in town. read more

I am giving this hotel 4 stars because it is well priced in a town and a time of multi-$100-a night stays. CLEAN CLOSE to coffee, groceries, hiking, gorgeous residential areas, or a $10 Uber to State St businesses and the beach. HAPPY / HARDWORKING manager and staff. The gentleman I presume to be the manager is clearly not Latin, Spanish, or Hispanic in any form (by his ex-US accent), but speaks in fluent Spanish to his employees, who all walk around with big smiles on their faces. He, the manager, was working today from sun up to sun down doing a major clean and paint of part of the front office. WARM common/kitchen area. Spanish-speaking music of many genres welcoming you in, warm light, cozy, welcoming. (For context, I am a Scottish-heritage, white, middle-aged married woman who now lives in Seattle but lived for stints in the UK, CO, NYC, and SoCal .) The only thing I could have asked for was eggs and fruit or just added fruit for breakfast. It was just carbs. Cereal, bagel/toast, waffles (which smelled divine). We will be back. read more

This place was pretty gross. We saw a roach on the nightstand that crawled into the alarm clock and immediately checked out. There was also rice on the carpet (see photo), indicating that the room had not been thoroughly cleaned. This was the type of place you don't want to take your shoes off in (a clear sign that I should've never been there in the first place- I was being cheap lol). The thing about Quality Inns is that they can vary greatly depending on location. Based on other reviews, I thought this would be a decent one...SO WRONG!! Horrible Whatever shift manager or supervisor working on July 17th morning shift . Did receive a booking.com email to confirm and a ten minute phone call from booking.com about my check in update on the 17th of July and all was confirmed and well. I went as far as confirming myself on Monday before we left our property as it was a 4 hour drive and I wanted to assure all was planned as it should be and they said yes you are on our list for check in . Upon arrival from my wife working at 3 am till 11am and straight into Los Angeles traffic to our destination in Santa Barbra to be told be the inn that they sold out and they had nothing for me to check into . I double checked with their staff and showed them my emails and they looked at me like I was the one who double booked or sold off the remaining room they had . Obviously they gave out the room I had booked and told me they would call me within the hour , never received a call , a apology nothing we drove around looking for a room for 3 hours . We were upset and confused that this actually still happens but we got over it but at least they could of reached out to us to tell us the TRUTH or a apology. Wow !!! read more

Everything in SB is expensive but you definitely don't get your moneys worth. It was a place to sleep but rooms small so not a room to hang out in. Staff very pleasant and nice. Beds hard but doable, room was fine. Free breakfast has no protein, surprised they don't at least have hard boiled eggs but they do have waffle makers. This place is a dump. I don't know how its still open. I made the reservation on priceline.com because I was getting some work done to my house. When we checked in it was around 3:15 and they stated they would have to double check there was a room available strange since checkin time was at 3 but okay no big deal. When we parked and went into our room it was dirty it had stains on the sheets, spiders hanging from the front lobby, no TP in the bathroom and smelled. There was people living in their cars in the parking lot and people smoking and drinking near the pool not the one beer and chill vacation type but like the already drunk loud people you don't want in front of your kids. I called priceline and asked to cancel the room so I can check-in somewhere else but they they said it would have to be cancelled by the hotel. I went to the front desk and explained the issues and they agreed to checked me out and handed me a receipt showing zero fees. After a few days I noticed that the charge was still on my credit card so I contacted the hotel which stated they had no record of me renting a hotel at all so I contacted priceline and they contacted the hotel and the hotel said since I waited 3 days they would not refund. We stopped by Quality Inn for a night on our way up to wine country. We weren't expecting much in terms of the property itself, but were pleasantly surprised at how clean the room was and how friendly the staff was. Other reviews are correct that this is pretty much a no-frills hotel, but they have the basics covered: Clean Room, Decent Breakfast, and Helpful staff. Checking in was a breeze, and the front desk representative was very friendly. We quickly got a room on the second floor, overlooking the pool with very comfortable king size bed. There was coffee, a fridge and a microwave in the room as well. The bathroom sink is located a bit oddly in the entryway hallway, but I suppose the location allows for someone to use the shower and the sink at the same time. The location of the motel was very convenient to downtown State Street, only a few minutes drive away. There is a Trader Joes and Coffee Bean across the street as well. Breakfast was also surprisingly diverse, there was fresh fruit, biscuits with sausage bacon, scrambled eggs and a make-your-own waffle machine. The coffee was fresh and replenished often. The breakfast area was also tidy and well-stocked. I think the biggest thing I liked about Quality Inn's breakfast they don't immediately shut everything down at 10:00AM. If you roll in a little after 10:00AM, there'll still be plenty of food to go around. I also liked that the check out time is 12:00PM, which was much later than a lot of motels in the area in case you have a late-sleeper in your group. The only complaints I have are minor: all the rooms face the parking lot, so it can get noisy at night. During our stay, someone inconsiderate decided to rev their motorcycle in the parking lot at about 3:30AM which woke everyone up. This was not the motel's fault. Also for what you get, the cost can be high. Our room was about $200 for a single night (granted it was a holiday weekend). Granted, Santa Barbara is just generally an expensive area to stay. Besides that, we could definitely stay at the Quality Inn again when we come back to the Santa Barbara area, and if the price is right. read more

This is my second time staying at this Quality Inn. It was very comfortable especially since we were ungraded from a Queen to a King bed. The room had a desk, comfortable chairs, small refrigerator, and all the bathroom things to make you comfortable. They offer a continental breakfast: waffles, eggs, biscuits and gravy, fruit, coffee, tea, juices, pastries, yogurts, a variety of bagels and muffins. Started from our socks turning black, gunk on the floor, old bottles from previous guests, debris all over the room and old beds. The worst part of the experience is that we noticed BLOOD was on our comforter! BLOOD! Made me want to throw up. Never in my life I had to book another hotel due to my stay. This place was clean, however the TV was broken, the towels were threadbare, the blankets were like tissue paper, the heater was weak, and worst of all was the huge group of drunk Bros fighting, screaming sobbing and cursing in the parking lot that the manager didn't kick out and the group of weekly stay drunks living in the room next to mine who were also having a fight. AC was broken in the room, when I went to see front desk, nobody was there at the desk - I paid almost 4 x the normal hotel price for single night - not worth at all. Breakfast - very bad - just banana in the name of the fruit and some packed muffins, etc - clearly taken advantage of COVID to save money - what does it take to stuff something more, at least some more fruit verities? just saving money and advertising "free breakfast" included. Fortunately, I was previously booked for 2 nights but then changed my plan to stay only one night and another night I stayed at Quality Inn in Solvang - striking difference between both hotels - even though both are Quality Inn.. breakfast there was way way better than SB - more than bananas, hot breakfast, pan cake, waffles, toasts, cereal and milk, etc - I paid here 1/4 of what I paid in SB. A nice stay for a good price in Santa Barbara. This Quality Inn sits on the north end of State Street and is a short drive to downtown (1.5 - 2 miles). If you're up for some cardio, don some comfortable shoes and walk/run to downtown or the beautiful beach. The rooms are pretty small and do need a little updating but they are comfortable and offer convenient amenities like an in-room fridge, coffeemaker, hair dryer, iron & ironing board and a large flat screen tv. We utilized the complimentary wi-fi, complimentary hot breakfast and the swimming pool. The pool was nice and clean and perfect for cooling off from the 85 degree weather. The breakfast spread was decent -- the biscuits 'n gravy and the scrambled eggs were a little bland but the waffles were very good so be sure to make yourself a plate of them. There is a Trader Joe's next door and a Coffee Bean, Bev Mo and CVS right across the street. There are a few nice dining options within walking distance like the popular Los Agaves, Renaud's Patisserie, Flavor of India and Our Daily Bread. Would definitely consider staying here again when in SB. read more

For our long road trip to LA we decided to pass through Santa Barbara since we'd never been there. We only planned to stop by for one night and needed a clean and relatively cheap place to crash. I wasn't sure what to expect until we pulled into their parking lot. The parking lot seems kind of small, but we didn't have any issues. Check-in was pretty easy since we're booked and paid for everything online. They were pretty responsive to our requests which was nice. We had a room on the first floor. Either the insulation is good or we didn't have a neighbor above. Either way we got some peach and quiet after a long day of driving. The blackout curtains were really nice to have. They provide a simple continental breakfast in the mornings - juice, cereal, toast, pastries, etc. Overall, I was pretty happy with this place and would recommend it to people. The place was clean. All the right amenities were provided. Wifi is included too! read more

Billing errors that border on fraud!!! Official check in time is 3pm. Not allowed to check in until 4:45pm! Motel agreed to a discount because of the late check-in. 3 days later I still have a pending charge for a full nights stay, a mystery pending charge of $2, (both which impact my credit limit) and a posted duplicate charge for a full nights stay. These are in addition to the legitimate charges. DO NOT STAY AT THIS MOTEL. Appears the only business they get is from contractors looking for a local place to house their work crews overnight and unsuspecting one time out of town visitors. The Manager can be seen around most of the time making sure all is well. He and all the Staff are very attentive, friendly and available to help with any guest's needs. Quick Mother's Day weekend in Santa Barbara!! We enjoy the Quality Inn chains because we have had many many restful nights sleep in them so why change? Anyway, we got a fairly good deal, made the reservation and went up from L.A. Quick 2 hour drive up the coast and voila, we're here. About a 5 minute drive off the freeway, easy to find. Check in, get to the room (upstairs) and had a nice view of the pool, street, baseball field, park and, hey look, there's a homeless guy using his little corner of the park as his own personal urinal! Told the kids not to look and ignore him but was kinda hard since he kept yelling at himself to "SHUT UP"! We nicknamed him "Richard" (!) The room: You could NOT possibly put another piece of furniture in this room it was so cramped. 1 Queen bed, 1 twin bed and the usual desk, chair, end-table, fridge and you were done! By the time we left, we were getting pretty good at the logistics of moving from one side of the room to the other. "O.K., if you move over there, then I can move over here and then you can move to the bathroom". Speaking of Bathroom: I'm a pretty big guy so if you have to use the toilet, put one leg in the bathtub, problem solved. Shower: Red is cold, blue is hot. Reverse for sink (You are welcome) One reviewer commented on the size of the pillows and I agree. They are the size of throw pillows but you get like 20 of them so if you stack them in the shape of a rhombus or any other similar shape, you should be pretty comfy. This location is too far (couple of miles) to walk to downtown, well you can, I'm not. However, there is a coffee shop (Coffee bean and tea leaf), Pizza place (Giovanni's) and a Bevmo :) right across the street. Continental breakfast is awesome! OK not awesome but it's free! Quality by name, quality by nature - not the most classy hotel in the world and certainly not the most classy in Santa Barbara but it does the job. If you looking for somewhere to rest your head then look no further. The hotel itself is about a 30 minute walk from State Street which is the main shopping/eating district or alternatively you can Uber it for around $5. Facilities include a communal pool, a complimentary breakfast and a great filter coffee machine in the room. Other than that things are pretty basic. It's really easy to find - just off the 101 highway and perfect for a pitstop if you're heading down the West Coast like we are. read more

Not the place you wanna stay when you are visiting beautiful SB. We had to book a hotel last minute and this was the only option left that was under $400/night. That being said, we paid almost $250/night here and it was SOOOOO not worth it. This type of place should be a quarter of the price. Also, the water in the bathroom smelled like rotten eggs. Bleh. I know SB is expensive, but there has to be better options for $250/night than this. If we booked our room more in advance, I'm sure we could have found something nicer. When I drove up to the Quality Inn, I was like 'Ugh, this is it? Ghetto!' I thought whatever, it was in my price range and I just needed a place to stay. Checking in was quick and easy. I got to my room which was on the bottom floor (why is it that people on the floor above you always noisy at all hours of the night?). The room itself looked like your everyday motel. It was clean, neat and odor free which is about all you could ask for. I plopped down on the bed to get some rest after the drive down from San Fran and checked out what was on the TV. There was free HBO the first night and then for some reason it vanished the next day. Odd. I like how just about all the amenities in the room were included in the rate. Hooking up to the internet was easy. There's a mini refrigerator, coffee machine, hair dyer and iron for you to use if need be. They also have a Continental Breakfast every morning in the Lobby. Free coffee, orange juice, fruit, cereal and pastries. Would I stay here again? Yes, if I was by myself again. Otherwise, I would stay at a hotel closer to the pier. At first I was going to rate this three stars, but the location and the continental breakfast pushed it up a notch. The inn is located just off of State St., a short drive away from the shops and the ocean. It is also right across the street from a Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, a HUGE plus for me!! So nice to be able to step out of my room in the morning and pop across the street in 5 mins flat! Also, the continental breakfast was pretty decent. They have a waffle maker machine my friends enjoyed, I stuck to bagels, a hardboiled egg and yogurt (Activia). I think they also had a couple of fruits and some cereal selections. CONS: - I didn't like that all of the doors to the rooms were facing the parking lot. I usually prefer to stay in rooms that have the doors in a hallway, but I guess that's the difference between a hotel and a motel. -The rooms were also somewhat small, getting out of the bathroom was a flexibility challenge. - The blow dryer decided to give up on life halfway through my hair drying. Good thing I brought a hairdryer as backup. - THE PILLOWS! My god, they were so small! It felt like they put throw pillows in pillowcases and called it a day! It was a great location near many local shops and eateries, but away from the touristy State Street. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and bathroom was sufficient. My mom is part of a rewards program that gives you points for staying at certain hotels. Quality Inn was one of them. This was the reason we chose this hotel, however we ended up using our AAA discount and never even brought up the rewards program. I made a reservation an hour before we arrived. The man on the phone was very formal and talked to me nicely. He explained the prices and discounts perfectly. When we arrived we spoke with him again to finalize the payment plan and he gave us our keys. The hotel room was very clean! Everything was prepared for us to come in, unpack a little, and go to sleep. The bathroom was clean too! There were outlets for us to charge our phones on the nightstand, which was very convenient! The complimentary breakfast was really good too! We made our own waffles, grabbed some muffins and yogurt, and eat our daily dose of fruits! We woke up early to go to the pool but it had not yet opened. And by the time we came back from our outing it had already closed. It's understandable since they want to have quiet times for the rooms living next to the pool. Shame we couldn't go in though. Regardless, I loved my stay at this Quality Inn. Motorcycle road trip from Vegas. 7 of us checked-in Oct 6 & 7, in 7 seperate rooms. Upon check-in the clerk wanted us to park our bikes all bunched up in one area because the hotel was fully booked. We argued that we are all paying for individual rooms and we should have one parking spot per bike, as you wouldn't expect people with cars to be bunched up. The clerk agrees. Only real complaint was I found one small cockroach running around in my sink when I turned on the light late night. Another was a homeless girl stealing food from morning breakfast then bumming for cigarettes inside the hotel property (no security what so ever), for $94 with military discount I couldn't really complain. read more
