We had a wonderful time at this hotel. We really enjoyed our stay no complaints beautiful ambience great atmosphere great hospitality comfortable bed. We enjoyed a nice cup of coffee in the morning downstairs walk out the door and you're just a few steps away from State Street so many shops and restaurants to enjoy a nice drink And something to eat and don't forget the sweet treats as well. Very nice rooftop with a heated pool we ended up parking overnight in the garage to the right when you first walk out the front door. We only paid $33 for the night thank you guys for your hospitality. Can't wait to come back satisfied couple from Orange County.

The best hotel in Santa Barbara!! When we first arrived, we were greeted by a very kind and friendly valet. Mind you, the valet was consistently kind and respectful throughout the entire time. In the lobby, you're met with a staircase leading down, as well as a lounge two areas. It's an absolutely stunning hotel; both inside and out. There was a photo booth in the lobby, which my family seemed to really enjoy. I also noticed a dog bowl--a thoughtful touch that makes perfect sense for a pet-friendly hotel. A+ for that! Our check-in was very smooth; as well as the check out process. The hotel rooms are clean, fresh and organized. A lot of times, hotel rooms can feel cluttered by the unnecessary use of space - this was not the case! Our room was spacious and quiet, which we very much appreciated. The hotel location itself is perfect! You're a few minutes down from the outdoor shops. We took a morning stroll to Lululemon, Vans and other little stores. You're also surrounded by a lot of restaurant options; which is very convenient! The staff were incredible! A special thank you to the hotel manager, Ingrid, for her assistance. She was professional, attentive, and exceptionally kind to my family. She also remembered our names and made us feel like valued guests!

    Dog friendly

Everything was clean , everyone was very welcoming. They treated my dog good. The room did not smell like dog . They have everything you need . Good location too. They were doing construction across the street that's the only thing that woke me up early but won't take points off because bed was comfy

Beautiful hotel. Live the Kimpton brand. Each hotel is nicely done, offers many amenities but each is unique. Live that they are dog friendly. This may be my favorite. Our room was big enough for 3 of us with 2 king beds. The bed and linens were very luxe as were the robes. They have a very nice bar/ restaurant. We ordered Negronis which were fabulous. Nice wine happy hour between 5&6. Staff were super friendly.

Kimpton never disappoints, nice location, great amenities and good service! Great for short stop at Santa Barbara downtown.

One of the very best quality hotels we've ever stayed in, and we have stayed in hundreds around the world. The location is perfect - just off State Street. The facility is top notch, the decor is amazing. Everything was obsessively clean. Our room was perfect - king 4 poster bed with a quality mattress, couch, sitting area, controllable A/C, bath and shower separate. We arrived to a welcome gift. We booked through Chase so we got a $160 food/beverage credit, which turned out to be a good concept but not great if you read my review of Finch and Fork (the hotel restaurant). There is an amazing rooftop pool with spectacular views. The entire staff was top notch, very friendly and professional. I can't pick out a single thing that was not 100% awesome. We looked around at a lot of different hotels, and won the jackpot with this location. It was so good we are booking another trip that we hadn't planned on.

A nice hotel in downtown Santa Barbara. Centrally located where you just can walk to the downtown where all the restaurants and attractions are. It's also a dog or pet friendly hotel. They serve free wine tasting at the lobby area from 5-6 daily. Overall it's a very nice hotel and Will stay here again definitely.

At 5 pm when checking in they told me that the room was not ready and no one knew when it would be ready! The girl at the reception was not friendly, she never smiled, never apologized. Who even hires people who don't know how to interact with clients?

Kimptons are great, especially if you have a pet. They are super pet friendly, and I love that. On this trip, unfortunately I didn't have my fur child but enjoyed a girl's weekend in Santa Barbara. We arrived at the hotel a little after noon and we had just planned on leaving our bags and setting out for the day since I knew that check-in wasn't until 4pm. It took a few minutes for someone to come to the front desk but that was ok, they were decorated for Christmas, and we were enjoying looking at the lights. To our surprise, our room was ready, and we set off to the 4th floor to see our room. We had a two-queen bedroom with about a 6inch "balcony". The room was very spacious, and the bathroom was large. It had a separate tub and shower. Plenty of space to for girls to get ready. As with all Kimptons, they serve free wine from 5pm-6pm and have a coffee bar in the mornings from like 6-10? Maybe 5-10. We did not have food at the hotel but did get a couple drinks at the bar and the bar staff was very friendly and recommended some special holiday drinks. They do have a rooftop pool that we didn't get to enjoy but it's beautiful at night and has great views of Santa Barbara. They were hosting a free yoga class in the morning, but it was a little early for our late night. The Canary is a little pricey, but I think it's worth it, especially if you have a fur baby. It was quiet, the beds were comfortable and it's in a good location just right off State Street so you can walk to everything. If you want a comfortable, safe place to stay that's a little bougie, than the canary is the place to stay.

Love this hotel so much! Beautiful rooms and centrally located. Georgie loves it too!

I've never had a bad experience at a Kimpton hotel. Canary did not disappoint. I was here for a weekend during this past September and decided to stay here. I typically stay at Milo because its across the street from the beach but they've been in serious need of a remodel so It's been some time since I've stayed there. My second choice was always the Pendry because... well... its the Pendry.. but I decided to stay at the Canary this time around to see what all the buzz is about. The hotel is very well maintained and has that Santa Barbara spanish charm that I adore! I booked using my IHG app and upon arrival they upgraded my room to a juliet suite which was fabulous. They also gave me a complimentary tote bag with water bottles which was needed because for some reason mother nature thought we'd like 85 degree weather. I didn't get many pictures of the room oops! but it was comfortable and quite large. The beds were soft as you'd expect from a Kimpton hotel and the pillows were V plush! Overall my experience here was great!

Avocado toast for breakfast at a conference May 2023
    Rebecca D.

I was here for a business conference for two days May 2023. The hotel was clean, with modern decor, pool on the rooftop and paid valet parking $40/night. The food served at our breakfast and lunch was top notch and the service was great. There was a breakfast bar- one day with egg sandwiches, the other with avocado toast (stellar) along with coffee, teas, yogurt, fruit, etc. The beds were comfortable and the room size fine. We didn't have a great, view, but that's okay because it was for business. The hotel smelled of recent paint, so we opened the windows and it was a little loud outside in the middle of the night - remember this is downtown, walking distance to State Street. The bathroom was clean, but had louvred doors, which was a little awkward because I was sharing the room with my female colleague. If it was my husband, wouldn't have bothered me and it is nice not to have a moldy smelling bathroom.

We're thinking of booking here for our honeymoon. Can you tell us if the Pool is first come first serve or if you need to make reservations for pool time (due to Covid)?

We had to make reservations for pool time due to Covid around May 21.

A response is requested from the hotel. We noticed you are very dog friendly and see many photos of dogs on the beds . Are the linens sanitized after a dogs stay in the room & carpets cleaned from any "accidents"?

    How much is the parking?

Hi it's $38/day for Valet. $23/day general. We had vouchers for wedding guests day of the wedding.

Is this hotel noisy due to its downtown location? And, how are the beds?

Not sure if you would hear traffic from the street, but probably the same as you would with any hotel right on the Main Street. And as far as the bed, it was great although a bit tall. If you need a boost up there is a step stool for that purpose.

How is the rooftop NYE party? What age is the crowd? What type of vibe?

They have a garage that opens around 8 or 9 AM (they don't open it too early because the garage door is loud for guests) and has free stuff for you to use including beach cruiser bikes, beach lounge chairs, towels, beach toys, umbrellas, and more. The lobby has snacks (granola bars, bananas, orange, etc) that were accessible during their hours (they close at 9) as well as a water machine from which you can fill your aluminum water bottles from your hotel room. I liked how they didn't use plastic trash bags, no plastic bottles, and no plastic soap containers. It seemed that they were really eco-friendly. We interacted with 3 hotel staff members and all were helpful and friendly. They gave us a list of kid-centric things to do. We stayed in unit 8 which had a queen bed and a living room as well as a kitchenette. The kitchen had everything we needed and the tools were clean, new and orderly. The unit was clean as well. It's a great location and walking distance to the beach. The bad: We accidentally went a few blocks down from here to Harbor View Inn first and then realized our mistake. Two different hotels! The bathroom is on the small side. The interesting: The parking lot is small so they don't allow big trucks/vans. It was absolutely worth it. The staff was genuinely friendly and helpful, and what really stood out was their text-based concierge system. They text you before arrival, and you can ask for anything during your stay -- they respond quickly and clearly. Honestly, that alone made the stay feel effortless. They even had the car ready before we got downstairs. It felt like having a pocket concierge. The view was fantastic, noise levels were low, and the beach is literally across the street, right at a crosswalk. We spent a lot of time on the balcony -- the room was large, the patio was generously sized, and we loved reading out there with the sounds of birds and seals in the background. Beds were very comfortable, the bathroom had great water pressure, and the jetted tub was basically a sauna -- a huge plus after walking all day. Free water bottles in the room were also appreciated. We ate at Convivo onsite -- it was fine, solid food, but a bit pedestrian flavor-wise. That said, there are so many excellent places to eat in Santa Barbara, and we walked to several without any trouble. Very walkable area for both beach time and dining. For car lovers: there's constant classic car and hot rod cruising along the beach, which was fun to watch from the balcony. It's not cheap, but it's reasonable for the location, room size, and level of service. Pros: 1) Across the street from the beach…read more 2) Great views 3) This Hilton Hotel has a Spanish look to it, much like Santa Barbara. Cons: We went for a wedding. But only stayed one night for the wedding. The other nights that we stayed were at another hotel in Santa Barbara. This Hilton hotel I'm giving one star more than the other because it is a Hilton. 1) Completely out dated. It looks like it's something out of the 90s. They can at least buy new furniture. The carpets smell. Everything smells very musty and old. The front desk when you check in is very small. We actually walked right by it because we didn't even see it. It was that small. For such a big hotel you would think that they would have a bigger front desk for their guest to check in and out of. For this to be a Hilton, they need to spend more money on renovation. 2) We could only stay one night because of how expensive it was. We were expecting a lot more for the price. When we entered the room, the linens smelled, and again the carpet smelled very musty. We called the front desk. It took them forever to answer the phone and when they did, they had an attitude about changing the linens. It took two hours for them to come to our room to change out the linens thank God they did because the second set of linens did not smell. 3) The staff all over the hotel were completely rude and aggressive. It didn't matter what department they were in. If this was a rundown Motel 6, then that would be one thing, but it was a Hilton in Santa Barbara facing the ocean. 4) When it came time for the wedding it felt great. It felt organized. I'm not sure if that was the Hilton staff or not. but I know that the catering was the Hilton and that was not organized and that staff was horrible and aggressive. For instance, taking your food while you're still eating. And giving you attitude if you say that you're still eating your dinner. 5) When it came time to use the downstairs restroom my wife stated that the downstairs restroom was filthy, and there was paper towels all over the ground. 6) Which brings me to my next point, this Hilton Hotel felt very understaffed. I could keep going, but the point is that my wife and I do love the Hilton family hotels, but this place is not the best Hilton out there. We will not be back.

Our tea tray included a variety of desserts, all beautifully done along with some additional savory options as well. Everything we were served was delicious. We were also served warm scones mid way through service. We especially enjoyed all the different tea options they provided based on Zodiac signs, very unique. I got a massage while I was there and it was wonderful, if you are thinking about getting one, go for the 90 mins, I kick myself for only doing 60. Overall, I'd stay there again.
