Really cute and nice hotel in an amazing location in Santa Barbara. When you check in there is a collection of free alcoholic drinks that you can choose from to have a mini happy hour which is cute. The hotel itself is not too big with only 2 floors total. The room decor is simple but cute and everything was furnished well and felt nice! We had a two bedroom queen and the beds were nice and comfortable. There is a fridge in the room but it's mainly for beverages that will be charged to the room if you drink them. Bathroom was upgraded but small and there isn't a fan for circulation. Pool had a really nice heated pool and jacuzzi in a courtyard type area that is lush. The location of the hotel is superior! We walked to the marina easily for lunch and to state street for dinner. There is a small charge for parking. We took the train and it was a short 8 minute walk from the train station. Hotel staff were friendly. Free coffee in the lobby in the mornings. I would definitely stay again!

On the house upon arrival. A nice welcoming touch!

"What went well?" asks Yelp. My response- "EVERYTHING!" A solo impromptu trip to Santa Barbara had me searching the interwebs for great deals with equally great accommodations. Since I had never been to the area before, I had to take a chance on anything I chose based off of photos (possibly doctored), and all kinds of reviews. To be honest, the reviews for Mason Beach Inn were decent at best, so I managed my expectations. I was pleasantly surprised by everything - from the grounds, to the actual rooms, and the service. I arrived a couple of hours early and luckily the room they had for me was ready. I was so tired from the drive up, I was able to rest before heading out for an evening walk downtown to explore. Close proximity to the beach, State street, the warf, etc. It is in a great location and I felt very safe, which is important for a solo female traveler. Upon check in, you get a choice of two free beverages on the house. I chose Stellas :) there isn't breakfast, but if you need a snack they have fresh cookies, oatmeal, coffee, fruit, and various teas all day in the lobby. Staff are so friendly and kind. They even have bikes to use on the premises, but I chose to walk everywhere. Also - the scent permeating through the hallways smells so delicious! I would definitely stay here again (and probably will TBH) because it's quiet and tranquil, and again a great place to stay for reasonable price. Thanks Mason Beach Inn!

I have no idea how this place doesn't have 5 stars, we are extremely picky with hotels and we LOVED it here! The rooms were modern and clean. The vibes were so fun and they gave us a welcome drink upon check-in which made our trip start off on the best note! It was in a great location between the beach, harbor, and about a 15 minute walk to the Funk Zone. It is definitely longer to get to downtown, especially the wineries like Grassini, LouBud, and Jamie Sloan (about a 25 minute walk with 50% of it lightly inclined) but very very manageable. The hotel even rents out bikes to ride, has a nice swimming pool and jacuzzi, ice machine, 24/7 coffee (decaf, medium roast, and dark roast) and tea, instant oatmeal, cookies, and apples. The front desk workers were SO nice! We were able to check in 3 hours early for about a 20 dollar fee. Parking was 18 dollars a night. We loved it here and would totally come back, we felt so safe!

Super cute hotel, customer service is great, Martha was all smiles and so welcoming from the moment we pulled into the parking lot. I would stay here again without a doubt.

They provided free drinks at check in and the front desk staff was very kind. Room was clean and up to date. I love the monstera accent wall in our room. I definitely recommend this place if you're going to SB! The only caveat is no microwave. They don't have empty fridges in room for guests, but you can shove an item or two in the mini bar fridge.

enjoyed this cute boutique hotel, perfect location walkable to downtown santa barbara. the front desk was super sweet and helpful, offering early check in because we got there early. the pool was nice and the room was lovely. my only complaint was that the wifi was spotty, and all of the soap/shampoo was lemongrass scented and the smell was strong.

Mason Beach Inn is a cute boutique hotel located right down the street from the beach and within walking distance of everything you can ever want. The room and premises were immaculate and front desk staff were very cheerful and outgoing. Tommy Bahama bath amenities instantly transports you to the beach. At check-in, you are offered complimentary wine or beer and a little display of cookies which was a nice touch after a long drive. Walking to my room on the 2nd floor, I was blown away by the subtle melon fragrance that permeated the hallways. Indoor hallways that actually smell this good is definitely something that I didn't know I wanted in a hotel until coming here. Miguel & team runs the best hotel I've ever stayed at. Absolutely a 5 out of 5 experience. Highly recommend.

Amazing location, friendly staff, very nice interior renovation with a modern, stylish design. Loved the pool and hot tub. I had a king room off the main corridor and it was very quiet. Super clean and everything felt luxurious and relaxing. Loved the welcome drinks and 24/7 snack bar - multiple coffee options and a great tea and cookie selection. Disclaimer: I haven't stayed elsewhere in Santa Barbara, Montecito, etc -- if you want to pay $500-$1,000+ a night, this isn't that. But it exceeded my expectations for a "moderate" room in this market and I would happily come back.

Great hotel overall! Rooms are super cute, location is great! 10/10 stay ! Can't think of any negatives or cons !! Rooms feel clean, hallways and main entrances smelt like heaven! Pool was a nice touch as well Definitely will be back!

This was the accommodation we found closest to the pier & walking distance to the shopping/restaurant areas due to our last minute booking during Labor Day weekend. It's kind of cute from the exterior. The interior was pretty mediocre. The bed & pillow weren't too comfy & the TV channels were lacking. They offered free coffee & muffins which was a nice gesture.

Location : Very convenient and walkable to a lot of restaurants.Which we love. Parking : If you stay on the queen suite side there are limited spaces but they do have permit for you to park on Bath St. as well but if you stay the other side of the property which is King suites. Those rooms came with 1 parking space per room. Rooms : First time we got room No.7 which was a queen suite.Man oh man that bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept on in a hotel rooms. The room came with full stove and kitchen utensils,Coffee maker and ground coffee. If you decide to cook yourself some food they pretty much have everything you need. The second time we stayed on the king suite side at room 118A. Staffs : Every single one of them were nice and friendly.Check in and check out process went very smooth. They offer you a free snacks in the office as well. They have a garage that opens around 8 or 9 AM (they don't open it too early because the garage door is loud for guests) and has free stuff for you to use including beach cruiser bikes, beach lounge chairs, towels, beach toys, umbrellas, and more. The lobby has snacks (granola bars, bananas, orange, etc) that were accessible during their hours (they close at 9) as well as a water machine from which you can fill your aluminum water bottles from your hotel room. I liked how they didn't use plastic trash bags, no plastic bottles, and no plastic soap containers. It seemed that they were really eco-friendly. We interacted with 3 hotel staff members and all were helpful and friendly. They gave us a list of kid-centric things to do. We stayed in unit 8 which had a queen bed and a living room as well as a kitchenette. The kitchen had everything we needed and the tools were clean, new and orderly. The unit was clean as well. The palm trees in the middle of the parking lot are nicely lit at nice. The water pressure in the bathroom was super strong. I liked that the bathroom had a window as well as the kitchen. Some rooms have a small patio door in the back. From our kitchen window we could see plants and flowers. Outside of our room there were cute tables with lots of flowers as well. It's a great location and walking distance to the beach. The bad: We accidentally went a few blocks down from here to Harbor View Inn first and then realized our mistake. Two different hotels! The bathroom is on the small side. The interesting: The parking lot is small so they don't allow big trucks/vans. If you check-out before 7:30 am (like we did) then you will leave your keys in the mailbox out front by their office.

Kimpton hotels are very pet friendly and that always gets extra stars from me. They don't charge any pet fee or have size restrictions and if you ask them, they will provide food and water bowls for your stay. As someone who always travels with her dog, that adds a lot of value for me. This location even told me that, while I couldn't bring the dog to the restaurant on site, I could bring her to the nightly wine reception. I did not ever end up attending one but it's the thought that counts. The location was great. It was about a 15-minute walk to beach and we did walk to Stearns Wharf multiple times during our stay. It typically took us about 10 minutes to walk to one of the many restaurants in the area that we had decided to go to each time. There are lots of coffee shops, wine bars and places to eat within walking distance so we ended up leaving our car parked for most of our stay. I believe the valet parking was an additional $50 or $60 a night but you do get in and out privileges. We just found that we didn't need the car much to get around on our visit and in the time it takes to have somebody pull it out for you, you could have already walked halfway to your destination. The amenities are nice. They have a rooftop pool, fitness center and then their complimentary coffee, etc. I did not end up taking advantage of any of those because I travel with my dog, so I can't speak directly to the quality of any of them, but I know most people appreciate having extras like that. Our room was cute and comfortable and felt very cozy. It was honestly probably smaller than I expected for the price point, but it had everything that we needed and I was happy with my stay. If you need a pet friendly, walkable place to stay, and you aren't on a super tight budget, I would definitely recommend looking into this hotel.

We used a credit card that offers "free upgrade" but you never know what that will mean. @ the Kimpton Canary it meant an extremely nice room. Large sitting area, with Nespresso coffee maker, refrigerator and large tv. The king size bed was in a room by itself overlooking the courtyard with fountain. The bed and linens were very comfortable. The bathroom has a separate shower, tub and toilet areas. Bath salts included. Robes and slippers in the closet. Amenities like AM coffee in the lobby or afternoon wine hour are nice to enjoy. The music is jazzy cozy heartfelt inviting. The decor is very chic, modern but not pretentious. Spanish tiles and colorful furniture. Service is a standout. A note in the bathroom said ask for what you need. So i tested it, asking for a lip balm by text and it was sent to the room. I also asked, Ingrid for a bottle of bubbly to be sent up with a birthday card to surprise my wife. It was delivered and made a grateful impression. A couple cookies and another note as well. Feeling extremely well taken care of here.

Perfect anniversary stay -- peaceful, friendly, and right on the beach…read more We stayed at Santa Barbara Inn for our 25th anniversary and paid for the beachside view. It was absolutely worth it. The staff was genuinely friendly and helpful, and what really stood out was their text-based concierge system. They text you before arrival, and you can ask for anything during your stay -- they respond quickly and clearly. Honestly, that alone made the stay feel effortless. They even had the car ready before we got downstairs. It felt like having a pocket concierge. The view was fantastic, noise levels were low, and the beach is literally across the street, right at a crosswalk. We spent a lot of time on the balcony -- the room was large, the patio was generously sized, and we loved reading out there with the sounds of birds and seals in the background. Beds were very comfortable, the bathroom had great water pressure, and the jetted tub was basically a sauna -- a huge plus after walking all day. Free water bottles in the room were also appreciated. We ate at Convivo onsite -- it was fine, solid food, but a bit pedestrian flavor-wise. That said, there are so many excellent places to eat in Santa Barbara, and we walked to several without any trouble. Very walkable area for both beach time and dining. For car lovers: there's constant classic car and hot rod cruising along the beach, which was fun to watch from the balcony. It's not cheap, but it's reasonable for the location, room size, and level of service. If you're looking for a peaceful, clean, friendly place that's perfect for couples or a special occasion, this is absolutely the place.

Our ocean view room was beautiful, spacious, and very comfortable. The outdoor s'mores were such a fun touch and the staff was mostly friendly. Pros: 1) Across the street from the beach…read more 2) Great views 3) This Hilton Hotel has a Spanish look to it, much like Santa Barbara. Cons: We went for a wedding. But only stayed one night for the wedding. The other nights that we stayed were at another hotel in Santa Barbara. This Hilton hotel I'm giving one star more than the other because it is a Hilton. 1) Completely out dated. It looks like it's something out of the 90s. They can at least buy new furniture. The carpets smell. Everything smells very musty and old. The front desk when you check in is very small. We actually walked right by it because we didn't even see it. It was that small. For such a big hotel you would think that they would have a bigger front desk for their guest to check in and out of. For this to be a Hilton, they need to spend more money on renovation. 2) We could only stay one night because of how expensive it was. We were expecting a lot more for the price. When we entered the room, the linens smelled, and again the carpet smelled very musty. We called the front desk. It took them forever to answer the phone and when they did, they had an attitude about changing the linens. It took two hours for them to come to our room to change out the linens thank God they did because the second set of linens did not smell. 3) The staff all over the hotel were completely rude and aggressive. It didn't matter what department they were in. If this was a rundown Motel 6, then that would be one thing, but it was a Hilton in Santa Barbara facing the ocean. 4) When it came time for the wedding it felt great. It felt organized. I'm not sure if that was the Hilton staff or not. but I know that the catering was the Hilton and that was not organized and that staff was horrible and aggressive. For instance, taking your food while you're still eating. And giving you attitude if you say that you're still eating your dinner. 5) When it came time to use the downstairs restroom my wife stated that the downstairs restroom was filthy, and there was paper towels all over the ground. 6) Which brings me to my next point, this Hilton Hotel felt very understaffed. I could keep going, but the point is that my wife and I do love the Hilton family hotels, but this place is not the best Hilton out there. We will not be back.
