Our room was clean but it smelled like pee in the front, maybe a pet peed on the carpet at one point. The carpet in the halls looked frayed The barnyard door worked well vs the one in morro bay. Safe bet when staying in Santa Barbara. Good location and walking distance to a lot of good places to eat. The hotel is a bit older and in need of some TLC but that is common in SB. It also appears that it is in the process of being sold to new owners. The rooms are good sized and the overall condition is pretty good. The housekeeping staff is competent and does a good job. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast is a bit sad but pretty much the standard post-COVID. The eggs are lifeless and the bagels are literally grocery store pseudo-bagels. Fortunately you are not in Santa Barbara for the hotel breakfast so it is easy to look past. The room rates are high but that is true of every place in this town as you would expect. Hampton Inn is a good choice for a stay in the area. read more

Yesterday we checked in for a one night stay. All was normal and room was good. We had dinner nearby and came back to unwind and call it a night. Suddenly the power goes out ~10 PM. We waited and waited then went downstairs to ask what may be the issue. Turns out hotel staff already knew that the power will be out! The hotel staff failed to inform us that there was a SCHEDULED 5 hour power outage yesterday when we checked in at 3 pm. They intentionally withheld that information! Power went out ~ 10 PM and came back between 3-4 AM. Major inconvenience! We had to shower in the dark. Couldn't watch TV. Had to open windows for cool air but with street noise made it hard to sleep. Then when power came on 3-4 AM had to get up and turn off all lights! Never staying here again. read more

During the recent fires in Ventura county we retreated to this Hampton Inn location because it was the first in the Hilton umbrella of hotels in Santa Barbara county. As a long time Hilton Diamond member, of course they are my go to hotel for family outings and in this case emergency situations. Wonderful, clean property. Our double queen suite was plenty roomy for our family. Also, the common area for breakfast was also awesome. As well as what they had on offer for breakfast. This is a relatively new property or perhaps refreshed (not sure which) because everything had a sparkle. Also, it had lots of amenities including business center, pool, gym, etc. The staff was friendly as well! I wouldn't hesitate to chose this location for a vacation or business as it in downtown Goleta with quick access to UCSB! read more

Want to stay at a very mediocre Hampton Inn? Here's the $250/night place! You might actually do better at a Motel 6 so you can use the savings to buy a decent breakfast and still have money left over for an awesome lunch! First of many signs? Dirty carpets. Get in the room, the lampshades are all flimsy, loose, and askew as if nobody cares. 5V charging outlets that don't work. And they make it 'easy' to solicit for tips for the staff: CHEESY, TACKY, so it's convenient for you to subsidize staff compensation. Is there any supervision here? And yet another insult: watered-down 'orange juice' at breakfast? CHEESY! I asked the front desk staff to have the property's manager to call me directly as we checked out. No call. Instead, I get an e-mail asking, "what he can do to make it better". I told him that it's his role to make that decision. When we finally do talk on the phone, all we get are excuses from the manager. So, so lame! Eventually, what do I get in response? A $22.84 refund to my card. This was a very disappointing hotel. It was not cheap ($450 for 2 nights), in part because they added on lots of charges -- like for parking, which is standard for urban hotels, but not in a suburban setting like this one. On arrival, we were told that housekeeping was every other day -- meaning no housekeeping for a 2-night stay. The fitted sheet on our king bed was too small (presumably a queen sheet), so it came off during the night. We complained in the morning, and they put on another sheet that didn't fit. The last straw came when I used their electronic tipping app (via a QR code on a card in the room), and they charged a service fee (not mentioned on the card) for using it. I have relatives in Goleta, and will be returning there for visits, but I won't be staying at the Hampton Inn. read more

I was impressed by the bathroom. I have stayed in a lot of nice hotels, but the bathrooms were small or not designed very well. Though the bathroom is simple. It is the best because of these reasons one it is large. Two, the shower has closed glass doors so the floor does not get all wet. Three there is lots of counter space for your toiletries. Four it has shampoo, bath soap, conditioner and lotion. Five they have a hairdryer six it is easy to operate the shower water. One handle and just turn it to adjust to your temperature. No other fancy gadgets to confuse you. This by far was the thing I liked the most and the water turned hot instantly. It also had a good flow. The room is spacious to fit our suitcases and it has bedside table on both sides of our bed to fit our Cpap and charge our phones. I haven't had their breakfast yet, but I'm just really happy with the bathroom in the room. Whoever designed this did a good job. read more

This Hampton Inn could really use some love from corporate. It's just tired - old carpet, dated public spaces, slammy room doors that don't do much to muffle occasional boisterous hallway noise and crash shut each time they're used. That said, our room was clean, mattresses and pillows were comfortable, thermostat was easy to control. Breakfast was good enough, but again, I've had better breakfasts (larger selection, tastier eggs!) at other Hampton Inns. I'd stay there again, but not with great enthusiasm. read more

This place is overpriced $4xx per night for a moldy smelling room, i did early check in and chose 330 and when i arrived to check in i was given room 316. Walked into room with the window wide open, which is strange. Turns out the room smells like rotten moldy carpet, like someone peed on the carpet. Where do I start? Start with the price. Over $900 for two nights at a Hampton inn. Crazy. You charge what the market will bear, but at that price it better be perfect. It was not 1. Bathroom smelled like raw sewage. We reported it and left for 10 hours. I told the manager and the front desk. Came back and it had not been fixed. The next day I isolated smell. It came from the sink when the water was turned on. Which is even worse than if it was from the toilet. We were drinking that water and washing our faces with it. I told them at the front desk as we were checking out. They said they hoped our next stay was better. No offer to comp our room or even reduce the rate. We definitely will not be coming back. 2. The room is labeled a suite. We got a suite so my sister, who was traveling with us, could stay with us. A suite is supposed to have a second room. This was just a rectangular room with a king bed and a sofa bed. She had to get her own accommodation 3. Door to the shower wouldn't stay closed. Just slides open on the side with the shower head. Had to prop it closed with a wash rag. I think they fixed this after reporting the problem 4. Soap ran out in shower after first use. I guess they forgot to fill it 5. Gym. Only one elliptical, that looked like it had been bought third hand. Could move the resistance up but not down Honestly, I've never been so frustrated with a hotel stay. read more

We stayed three nights when in town for UCSB orientation and can't say enough good things. Super close and easy to get to the campus from the hotel. The rooms were clean and the beds and pillows were super comfortable. (I loved the pillows). The staff were extremely friendly and attentive. I was a pretty needy customer.. and they responded to all my requests with a smile on their faces. They gave me some great recommendations for some local places to eat (all awesome recommendations). They handled a minor billing concern I had expeditiously... and helped with an issue I had with a neighbor who left a howling dog in their room all day. The front desk does not answer the phone. We called multiple times (from the room and also from outside) and seriously, no one answers the phone. The tiny "queen" beds feel more like full sized. Decent hotel, with some pluses and minuses. As a part of the Hilton family of hotels, there's a certain minimum standard that these properties have to meet, and I'd say that during our stay here it generally met our expectations. Pros: - conveniently located to the UCSB campus - easy access to the freeway - ample free parking - hot breakfast included - clean and reasonably spacious rooms - excellent water pressure in the shower Cons: - not a particularly attractive location for a hotel - on a commercial street with tired old shops, a few fast food places, small groceries, and gas stations - soundproofing was just adequate - we could hear our neighbors' noisy kids and the clomping around of the people above us - price was a little more than expected when considering all the various factors that add and detract value from a hotel Our beds were comfortable and the towels were fresh and clean. Mid-grade toiletries were provided. There was a mini-fridge and a microwave in the room, and we were able to heat up some dinner that we bought at Albertsons. The coffee machine made a weak brew, but there was also coffee in the lobby. The hotel, like many other businesses these days, seems to be a little short-staffed. There were several of us waiting to check in at arrival and only one person at the desk for quite a while. Finally someone else appeared and we were all able to get our keys. At breakfast, the staff had a bit of trouble keeping the food stocked, and the rubbish bins were overflowing. This place seems to attract a lot of families with young kids, and so there was a certain level of charming chaos during breakfast and in the elevators. All told, this was a generally fine experience. If we have a need to be at UCSB in the future then we'd consider staying here again, but if our destination is elsewhere in Santa Barbara then we'd opt for a different location. read more

We stayed here for a Bachelorette weekend trip. The hotel was just ok. The beds were too soft for our liking. The soundproofing was not that great, could hear the loud footsteps from the people above us. Price was also a little higher than expected for a Hampton Inn. We were woken up by a fire alarm at 8:30am..but not exactly the hotel's fault. However, wish there could have been better communication from the front staff as to what was going on. Would recommend more detailed training for front staff (he seemed panicked and didn't seem to know how to handle the situation professionally - Another guest had to call 911 for firefighters to arrive and assess the situation) Now for the positives, the rooms seemed pretty clean and spacious. Unfortunately the Manager Kyndall Hunsaker is the problem at this location. She refused to address our concern , and did her best to avoid solving the problem . My husband asked the front desk to please makeup our room in the morning around 9:50 A.M. as we were gone for the day. Front desk agreed. We returned to refresh and go to dinner, yet the room had not been done. 3:40 P.M now. The guy at the front desk said it would be at least another hour to have our room made up. He tried to call Kyndall the manager to assist us. He finally had to give us her cell phone. She refused to answer her cell phone. My husband left a few messages. When she finally came down, she felt it was more important to make us wait longer. The man at the front desk was willing to refund us for that evening, as we decided to drive home rather than pack and be relocated to another room. She refused to sign off on our refund until she checked the "video footage" to see if my husband had indeed asked for our room to be made up? She lied about the room maid service policy, she said it was posted in the room on the mirror. It was not. We found out via a slip of paper she handed to us: Policy said it was available upon request. We did request it. A gentleman in the lobby was also waiting to complain about something. He was also shocked at how we were being treated by the manager. Kyndall gave us a phone number to file our complaint. I was on hold for a very long time, on speaker I asked the man at the front where she had disappeared to? He said she was "still her office." I went into her office as the disrespect for our time was blatant at his point. She was at her desk, making vacation plans for her Sept 18 trip! Unbelievable. (I was still on hold, on speaker ) and sat down on a chair in front of her desk, until she was finished with her personal call. Kyndall Hunsacker decided being in her office was a "the crime" So she called 911. The Sheriff's were confused when they arrived. And saw we were clearly not a threat or problem. I have a witness ( with his name and phone number in case I need it for the future.) She doesn't want anyone at her desk for actual business, yet she refused to help us. She said she had us remove from the hotel property when I called the day after to get the name of her supervisor. Then she hung up on me. No police report was made. No crime committed. She refuses to help the guests if there is a problem and she will not give you her supervisors information. Kyndall claims she is the top supervisor. We found out, this establishment is under new managment by intermountain management company. I did contact them regarding this ordeal. This was a horrible experience for our family, a two hour nightmare that could have been resolved in 20 min. We will not return to the Hampton inn Santa Barbara location. read more

The staff is very nice and helpful, so the first items could easily be overlooked, but why this hotel deserves 1 star is because at breakfast they have Fox News on both TVs with Sound. Fox News is self-subscribed entertainment, and not news. I prefer News in the morning and if owners want to offer news on television in the morning on both TVs there are plenty of shows with journalistic integrity. I stayed here for one night on January 25th. I was in town for my son's baseball tournament and since it was raining and it was very late, we decided to stay the night instead of driving the two and a half hours home. As soon as we got in the room, we took turns showering, by the time I got out of the shower, about 30 minutes to an hour after check in, I began my routine check of the beds. We travel a lot for baseball over the last 8 years, I always check the beds for bed bugs and luckily have never found anything, until this day! I found a bed bug under the seam on the bottom right side of one of the beds. I took a photo and video and immediately called the front desk to inform them. The gentleman asked me to come downstairs so he can check me into a new room, I came downstairs, provided him the photo and video via email, as requested. He came to the room to collect the bed bug and help us move rooms. He apologized profusely and without me asking, assured that the promised points and money used to book the room would be refunded. He said the manager would call me the following day to discuss. After checkout, I noticed I was still charged and the points weren't refunded. A couple of days passed and a manager did not call, the following week, I called the hotel multiples times and was given the run around by multiple employees. I was told Daniel, the manager would call me, more than once, he never called. Eventually, a woman called me, don't remember her name, but she said that they hired a third party company to come out and check the room for bed bugs and because they didn't find anything, they can't refund me. She made it a point to highlight the fact that I found only ONE DEAD bed bug, call me crazy, but I think one dead or alive bed bug is one too many, it's indicative of the fact that bed bugs were present at some point and the room clearly wasn't cleaned properly, which puts the guest at risk. Her tone of voice was accusatory, it seemed as if she was accusing me of planting the bug, as if any sane person would go to those ridiculous lengths. read more

Staying here was convenient for what we needed, but for the area and what we paid, I expected more! First off, the positives - the bed was awesome! Very comfortable. Complimentary coffee down in the lobby is also very nice. The rest: - The TV in the room is an older flat screen. The guide did not work - showed from December and didn't have any information. Their TV's should already be upgraded to Smart TV's. - The elevator creaked open and closed. Appeared to need maintenance or at least be oiled. - The process of wanting to buy food from their concession area is overly complicated. If you want to pay cash, that should be an option. If you are not wanting to put any charges on the room, you shouldn't have to give the room number or a credit card. The concession area should also be bigger and offer a bigger selection of items. - The coffee maker in the rooms should be upgraded to Keurig machines. This by far was not the worst hotel I've stayed in, but also not the best. There shouldn't be such minor things in a hotel like this when you're paying $250 for 1 night. If I come back to this area, unfortunately this will not be the first place I book to stay at. read more

Only thing I'd have to say is that it would be nice if Sandra was friendly while checking us in. The Indian lady that checked us out was so sweet. Oh, and the two rude and angry Asian ladies at breakfast service shouldn't be working there. One kept giving everyone dirty looks and the other scolded me and another guy for not throwing our waffle batter cups away even though we weren't done yet. Stayed here for a mini Babymoon in Santa Barbara for two nights. It wasn't a luxury resort but it got the job done. We did have a hiccup in the beginning when we got to our room and it had a musty odor due to the air conditioning unit filter. The front desk person was actually somewhat rude to us when we confronted her about it and asked if we can change rooms. She actually outright stated to us that this was not the Ritz Carlton lol. Well that is true I still think that hotel management and people in the hospitality industry need to be a little bit more conscious of the way they react to customers requests or concerns. Besides that, the hotel did offer continental breakfast with a variety of options which was very convenient. There were waffles, egg dishes, sausages, potatoes, cereals, oatmeal, juices, baked goods and more. The rooms also included a mini fridge which was very convenient. Parking here wasn't the best and got a little hectic at night but it could be done. They do have a pool and gym for use as well. It made for a decently comfortable stay. read more

When addressing 3 issues: 1) unclear communication and expectation of housekeeping 2) no response to Hilton app chat despite chat clearly stating "connecting to HOTEL TEAM MEMBER" and 3 different hotel team member all having 3 different responses aka lack of consistency and coherence 3) housekeeping or employee opening my room door WITHOUT knocking while I was naked and 3 different team members again with 3 different answers. No follow up on the "lock interrogation" promised by Daniel Tolliver. No sincere apologies were given from Anna/Ana nor Daniel for all 3 items despite addressing it multiple times and repeating myself 3 times from front desk to GM. Also, there were lots of excuses or reasoning behind what happened was appropriate for example, it's common for employees to have master key to access rooms and did you see who the employee was as a response to Ana said it's not housekeeping and GM said it must be housekeeping. Not I apologize for the terrible experience and having intrusion upon seclusion. Honestly, as Gold member one of the absolute worst facility that I have stayed and will never return here. Also, Daniel never got back to me despite his email saying he will get back to me after doing "lockdown interrogation". He also shared he doesn't have to follow up with me and that he's doing me a favor by even investigating as he has a lot of other things he can work on instead. read more

I am a Government Certified First Responder and Survivor of the Terrorist Attacks on 9/11/2001at the World Trade Center Towers IN NYC. I became (as most of us ) have become very sick because of that day and the following almost two years I spent at Ground Zero. Very Fortunately I have a beautiful service dog who has been professionally trained to assist me. I walked into the lobby of this hotel on June 27th 2023, at approximately 4pm with a reservation for two nights my son was in town who I hadn't seen in over 3 years. Upon checking in I was asked why I needed a Service Dog being perplexed by having to divulge my personal heath issues I said " beauregard insure I will wake up in the morning. Before I could say anything else I hear a voice coming from behind me say "that's an emotional support dog not a service dog". It was a lady who claimed to be the manager. After refusing to acknowledge the US Registry ID badge on his service vest because she said "anyone can get a vest off of Amazon for $20" and my 5hr drive to get there I said you will ill pay for him then I was told he won't be staying 8n this hotel I asked why and I was told he's over the hotels weight limit. I had in my hand my California issued handicap parking Placard the entire time. We left there and found another very welcoming hotel not too far away. My CARD WAS STILL CHARGED for the room and upon getting my statement I called the hotel and was told it would be funded but that NEVER HAPPENED. MY dog is a pure bread Weimaraner who at the time was 3 years old and 70lbs. It took me a long time to write this review because I couldn't stomach how I was treated. I've never ever been so humiliated in my entire life. The way I was judged by this woman just upon site makes me convinced I was treated that way because of the color of my skin. read more

I've had consistently positive experiences staying at Hiltons and Hampton Inns across the country when I traveled frequently for work, so I was very disappointed by my experience staying at the Hampton Inn Santa Barbara Goleta. So this is a 3 star hotel, my family of 4 was not expecting Conrad or Four Seasons level service and we understand that we get what we paid for. The hotel in itself is run down and unkempt. None of the sanitizer stations had sanitized filled, and I saw remnants of leaks bandaged with masking tape in our bathroom. What topped my family's bad experience at this Hampton Inn was that our room was right next to a group of college aged basketball players and young girls who partied until 3:30 am. The walls were thin so we heard it all: loud music blasting, stomping and dancing, lots of shouting and screaming and tik tok videos being shot. The worst of it? The front desk downstairs didn't take the time to come upstairs to investigate which room was causing the noise at 3 am. Instead, the front desk kept calling OUR room, harassing my family to keep the noise down. My husband picked up the phone twice from 2:30 - 3 am, and one final time at 3:30 am until he finally yelled, "We are a family of four trying to sleep! It's the next door room! Stop calling us!" The next morning I talked to the front desk to complain about our unruly neighbors and the harassing calls we kept getting from the operator. All we got was a half hearted apology. Scrolling through these Yelp reviews it appears that late night parties and unsupervised teenage groups is a common occurrence at this hotel, as well as hotel staff that doesn't do anything about these noise complaints. As someone who consistently had positive experiences staying at Hiltons and Hampton Inns across the country, it was disappointing to have such a poor experience all around and most of all to have staff that harassed my family with phone calls in the middle of the night and didn't appear to care about their guests. Don't stay at this Hampton Inn, find another hotel especially if you are traveling with your family and kids. read more

I will never come to this hotel again. They don't even deserve the one star. The way the manager spoke to me during a check in because the reservation was under my husbands name. In between talking down to me, she answered the phone and was so rude to them for a cancellation in the future and then hung up. I have never had an issue with checking in with Hilton and the way the "manager" treated the situation was horribly wrong. They also still charged be account because it was the day of. Lower your expectations if you make the mistake to visit this hotel. Understaffed and unwilling to do the basics. Overpriced. Staff person (the only one who worked there according to her) is rude and unhelpful. An actual doormat hangs on the gate at the pool area where guests are sitting. The color of the water in the hot tub is a murky green/yellow. There are no towels out by the pool for the two days I was there. The dirty ones do not get cleared nor does the trash on the tables, ground or seating areas. This hotel has one employee apparently who hangs up on you when you call- because they literally cannot help you with basics even with the extremely high price point. This was by far the worst Hampton Inn I have ever stayed at. When we travel with my grandchildren we look for placed that can accommodate 5 people...usually two queens and a sofa bed. From the moment we walked through the door until we left there was nothing good about this place. When we arrived we were (not) greeted by a sullen young man who acted like it was an effort to check us in. A theme that was repeated every time we came through the door not just with us but with other people we observed when they came in. The smell was not good...the kids walked around holding their noses in both the lobby and hallways. The room was not as good as the other Hamptons were I have stayed..dirty carpet and I am not so sure the blanked in the duvet covers were very clean. When my daughter asked for extra towels, etc since there were 5 of us. She was told she had to go to the lobby to get them...which she did. With 5 females we went through them that night. They next morning we asked the cleaning people in the hallway if they would take them and replace them. We were told we had to take the dirty towels down to the lobby ourselves. The lady was willing to give us clean towels. We just piled the towels up in a corner. The only tp (a partial roll) was on the rusted and pitted holder...no extra roll in the bathroom. 5 females...went through it in no time. When we called for another roll again we were told we had to go down to the lobby to get it. When I spoke to the man at the desk regarding the issues he explained they were short staffed. The breakfast was the worst I've had in a Hampton. There was one scowling lady doing all the work. She was not helpful at all. The food was not good..thank goodness for the dry cereal and toast. The decaf was cold so I told the lady at the front desk (where the coffee was being served. She said she would let them (I guessing it was the scowling lady dealing with the food). When I went back to see if it was done they had taken the regular coffee urn and the cold decaf was still sitting. The stomping of the people in the room above us sounded like they were crashing through the ceiling. While some of these complaints seem petty when you add them up the made for a disappointing stay. Sadly since these hotels are franchised you never know what you will get and Hilton seems to do a poor job of oversight on the hotels. I gave this a 1 because I couldn't not give it a zero!!! Update: I received a call from management at the hotel, apologizing for the situation and they refunded me 35% of my stay. read more
