When I walked into the reception area for the first time at the Villa Verano Estate, I had tears in my eyes and I was literally speechless. From the flowers to the lighting to the table cloths and all the rentals, our wedding was everything we dreamed of and more. A special thanks to her team on the actual wedding day because they were absolutely amazing and it went off seamlessly. Her and her team were by my side the entire wedding day constantly assuring me that everything was on track and going as planned, which I didn't particularly see but appreciated so much because I wasn't bothered with one thing. Aileen and her team anticipated what I needed before I even knew that I needed anything. We owe so much of our beautiful wedding day to Aileen! We couldn't have asked for a better coordinator in all parts of the process. She went above and beyond all of the responsibilities in the contract, and you can tell she really loves what she does. Early on in the process, we had already planned some of the wedding ourselves but we didn't have a very cohesive idea for the design side of our wedding. Aileen took the photos we'd saved of things we liked and our thoughts on what atmosphere we were going for and she created a digital design board for us. Her design board included our color palette, layout ideas, and design ideas for every aspect of our wedding from start to finish. It brought all of our ideas together with new ones into one cohesive, beautiful vision. If I could do one thing different it would be that I had found her sooner in the planning process. They have live music and a raffle and it's just so much fun, I love going now. Last time I went I brought members of my book club which consists of some friends and family. My niece really enjoyed it however there was a couple incidents of this one older man who made both me and my 8 YEAR OLD niece uncomfortable as he kept trying to get her to dance with him and even attempted grabbing her at one point after we had very clearly told him no about 20 minutes prior. That was the first incident of anything like that that I've experienced as the people who run this event are INCREDIBLY big on respecting peoples boundaries and spaces and do not tolerate this kind of behavior.

Riviera park is located on the hillsides of the Riviera, overlooking our beautiful downtown Santa Barbara, and ocean view of our beaches. Simply breathtaking and serene! I've been volunteering for Taste of the Town for 3 years. This event is now in its 34th year and benefits the Arthritis Foundation. For $125 a ticket you can look forward to sampling great food, wine tasting, and listen to live entertainment. I believe there are over 40 wineries to sample from. If you don't buy a ticket ahead of time then you can expect to pay $140 at the door. Still not a bad deal for all the food, wine, and fun entertainment you get to enjoy! Plus it's for a great cause. Some of the restaurants you get to sample include: Ca'Dario, Chase Bar and Grill, Enterprise Fish Co., Los Arroyos, Bacara Resort & Spa, The Nugget, Opal, and Rori's Artisanal Creamery just to name a few. Wineries, Breweries, and Beverages include: Alma Rosa, Artiste, Au Bon Climat, Gainey, Giessinger, Grassini, Island Brewing Co., Carribbean Coffee Co., Carr Winery, and much much more! This event takes place every September. If I wasn't a volunteer every year I would still save up my money just to attend this event because it really is worth it; not only for what you get but again to benefit a great cause! Some of the vendors also have free gifts, and two for one tasting coupons to take as well. Plus you get to keep the wine glass and plate if you choose to take it home with you. Literally around the corner was State Street which is full of restaurants and ships. A nice 15 min walk to the pier - Room 314 had beautiful huge windows that overlooked the street - Staff are all very friendly and professional - Cute outdoor balcony/patio area on the 2nd floor, right off the elevator. Nice comfy outdoor couches, chairs, tables. Shaded and cool. It was a great spot for a quick afternoon drink, or if you need to do some work. We were the only ones there both times we went during the weekend - Lobby was small but very cute - Free bikes for rent (see picture)? DTSB is very bike friendly so it was a great way to get around - Valet used a text service (scan the QR code on your ticket to text the valet to bring your car around), so minimal wait time - Room had a really nice sized drink fridge. I was able to put in an entire pizza box - 2 sinks - Keurig coffee machine in room - Smart TV, I was able to sign into my streaming services - Lobby has a small bar that served coffee and continental brekkie for a fee - Relatively quiet on the 3rd floor. My room was right off the elevator and you could definitely hear some people walking to and from, but honestly pretty quiet. The ice machine was across the hall and that could be noisy but I only heard 1 person getting ice my entire stay Cons: - I can only speak for the room I booked 314, but the shower was a stall with the dreaded flappy shower curtain. If you're uncoordinated (like me) or big and tall, you will definitely feel the slap of that wet curtain on your body while showering - So the showerhead was actually leaking, spraying water above the showerhead onto the ceiling. It not worth my complaining or changing rooms, so I never said anything, but the last morning, before I checked out, it miraculously stopped spraying water. - If you're sensitive to city noises I suggest opting for a room that overlooks the hotels parking lot, away from the street. Our room faced the street right above corner on State Street and Haley, and even being on the 3rd floor, we definitely heard some night life noises - Expensive! This was on the pricey side but, due to location. I thought it was definitely worth it - The hotel is definitely older, but they worked hard to renovate it. It's not just a motel with a facelift - No pool, but the beach is just a 15 min walk away Tips: - Definitely sign up for the Hilton honors app, it'll make it easy to check in and you can pick your own room, get room key access, and check out, etc Would I come again? One morning there was only 1 person working breakfast and she could not handle working the floor, the second day I guess the breakfast staff called in sick, because they were closed. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes just down the block from the hotel. So, just don't go into the expectation that there is a restaurant at this hotel.
