Had a great weekend getaway with the wife all thanks to this Hotel. Location is PERFECT and there is alot of bars and dining at a walking distance. Hotel staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. There is a complimentary breakfast bar. It is Valet parking but your car is parked a few feet away inside the hotel under covered parking and it is very quick to retrieve thanks to the amazing valet staff. Our King Suite room was very large and more importantly CLEAN! Overall had a fantastic experience and this is the only hotel we will stay in when visiting Santa Barbara.

"Charming Stay with Exceptional Service" I had the best time here with my family! It's a small, historic hotel, so you do hear some creaks and noises at night, but nothing disruptive. The rooms are on the smaller side -- part of the charm that comes with its age and history. The beds were incredibly comfortable. Everything was spotless and very well maintained. The heated pool was a huge hit with my son! What really stood out was the outstanding customer service -- truly some of the best I've experienced at any hotel. Just a friendly reminder: this is an inn, not a big chain resort, and that's exactly what makes it special. Some people complain about the smallest things, but to me, this place easily deserves a four-star rating. Highly recommend staying here -- we can't wait to come back

We woke up to a very loud buzzing noise, that appeared to come from the building next door. It was really loud and very annoying. Also, when we woke up, our room smelled terrible! Maybe we were by a vent or something? It sort of smelled like sewage or burnt food. The hotel was charming, but the room experience made it so we will probably not be staying again or recommending the hotel. The staff, however, were all very friendly. If we were staying more than one night, we would have complained but as it was a quick overnight we didn't mention it. We did have a nice breakfast in the adjoining restaurant.

    Welcome to the Montecito Inn!!!

It only took me 22 years, but I finally did it! I first laid eyes on the Montecito Inn while going to college in Santa Barbara back in 2001. I was 17 years old at the time and in addition to going to school, I had a part time job at an Italian restaurant just a few blocks from this hotel which sadly the restaurant is no longer around. I remember passing by the Montecito Inn all the time thinking to myself, "one day, I'm gonna stay here." Well on March 21st, 2023... Those small dreams became a reality. My wife and I took a night away for ourselves and enjoyed this quaint boutique hotel and of course all of the magic that being in Montecito has to offer. Our room was cozy, clean & simple and was just what we needed to relax during our 1 night getaway. From the Valet upon our arrival and the gentleman who checked us in, to our awesome bartender at Coast & Olive (the restaurant at the hotel), our stay was top notch and was everything that you'd expect from a boutique hotel in a prestigious town like Montecito. Located in the heart of the city, the Montecito Inn is centrally located to everything you'd want to do while staying in Santa Barbara Proper. Within walking distance to several quaint restaurants, a short drive to the beach, and just an exit from Santa Barbara, the Montecito Inn IS and HAS been in a prime location since it's inception back in 1928. Yes, you heard me right!! Nineteen Twenty-Eight!!!! 95 years ago the Montecito Inn was born and it was THE PLACE to stay. Built by a group of investors including Actor, Filmmaker Charlie Chaplin; the Montecito Inn was built to be an upscale getaway between Los Angeles and San Francisco coined the "cream of the coast". In it's hay day, Montecito was the "Hollywood" of the times where celebrities lived and played, but even to this day that tradition continues and Montecito is still called home to the Rich and Famous in todays times. So... Come treat yourself to a small part of Montecito's history and see why ninety-five years later, this beautiful part of California is still considered to be the: Cream of the Coast.

The hotel is lovely, but the room sizes are not at all accurate. We booked a 245 sq ft king room with a mountain view. After speaking to the front desk they confirmed we're in the correct room, however, there is no version this 11x17 room (that includes the bathroom and closet) can be fudged as 245 sq ft. In fact, anyone who can do math knows that 11x17 ft is 187 sq ft. It's a cute, historic hotel, but the room sizes are not at all accurate, and if I was staying for more than 1 night I'd be very unhappy.

They have a garage that opens around 8 or 9 AM (they don't open it too early because the garage door is loud for guests) and has free stuff for you to use including beach cruiser bikes, beach lounge chairs, towels, beach toys, umbrellas, and more. The lobby has snacks (granola bars, bananas, orange, etc) that were accessible during their hours (they close at 9) as well as a water machine from which you can fill your aluminum water bottles from your hotel room. I liked how they didn't use plastic trash bags, no plastic bottles, and no plastic soap containers. It seemed that they were really eco-friendly. We interacted with 3 hotel staff members and all were helpful and friendly. They gave us a list of kid-centric things to do. We stayed in unit 8 which had a queen bed and a living room as well as a kitchenette. The kitchen had everything we needed and the tools were clean, new and orderly. The unit was clean as well. The palm trees in the middle of the parking lot are nicely lit at nice. The water pressure in the bathroom was super strong. I liked that the bathroom had a window as well as the kitchen. Some rooms have a small patio door in the back. From our kitchen window we could see plants and flowers. Outside of our room there were cute tables with lots of flowers as well. It's a great location and walking distance to the beach. The bad: We accidentally went a few blocks down from here to Harbor View Inn first and then realized our mistake. Two different hotels! The bathroom is on the small side. The interesting: The parking lot is small so they don't allow big trucks/vans. If you check-out before 7:30 am (like we did) then you will leave your keys in the mailbox out front by their office.

Kimpton hotels are very pet friendly and that always gets extra stars from me. They don't charge any pet fee or have size restrictions and if you ask them, they will provide food and water bowls for your stay. As someone who always travels with her dog, that adds a lot of value for me. This location even told me that, while I couldn't bring the dog to the restaurant on site, I could bring her to the nightly wine reception. I did not ever end up attending one but it's the thought that counts. The location was great. It was about a 15-minute walk to beach and we did walk to Stearns Wharf multiple times during our stay. It typically took us about 10 minutes to walk to one of the many restaurants in the area that we had decided to go to each time. There are lots of coffee shops, wine bars and places to eat within walking distance so we ended up leaving our car parked for most of our stay. I believe the valet parking was an additional $50 or $60 a night but you do get in and out privileges. We just found that we didn't need the car much to get around on our visit and in the time it takes to have somebody pull it out for you, you could have already walked halfway to your destination. The amenities are nice. They have a rooftop pool, fitness center and then their complimentary coffee, etc. I did not end up taking advantage of any of those because I travel with my dog, so I can't speak directly to the quality of any of them, but I know most people appreciate having extras like that. Our room was cute and comfortable and felt very cozy. It was honestly probably smaller than I expected for the price point, but it had everything that we needed and I was happy with my stay. If you need a pet friendly, walkable place to stay, and you aren't on a super tight budget, I would definitely recommend looking into this hotel.

We used a credit card that offers "free upgrade" but you never know what that will mean. @ the Kimpton Canary it meant an extremely nice room. Large sitting area, with Nespresso coffee maker, refrigerator and large tv. The king size bed was in a room by itself overlooking the courtyard with fountain. The bed and linens were very comfortable. The bathroom has a separate shower, tub and toilet areas. Bath salts included. Robes and slippers in the closet. Amenities like AM coffee in the lobby or afternoon wine hour are nice to enjoy. The music is jazzy cozy heartfelt inviting. The decor is very chic, modern but not pretentious. Spanish tiles and colorful furniture. Service is a standout. A note in the bathroom said ask for what you need. So i tested it, asking for a lip balm by text and it was sent to the room. I also asked, Ingrid for a bottle of bubbly to be sent up with a birthday card to surprise my wife. It was delivered and made a grateful impression. A couple cookies and another note as well. It was absolutely worth it. The staff was genuinely friendly and helpful, and what really stood out was their text-based concierge system. They text you before arrival, and you can ask for anything during your stay -- they respond quickly and clearly. Honestly, that alone made the stay feel effortless. They even had the car ready before we got downstairs. It felt like having a pocket concierge. The view was fantastic, noise levels were low, and the beach is literally across the street, right at a crosswalk. We spent a lot of time on the balcony -- the room was large, the patio was generously sized, and we loved reading out there with the sounds of birds and seals in the background. Beds were very comfortable, the bathroom had great water pressure, and the jetted tub was basically a sauna -- a huge plus after walking all day. Free water bottles in the room were also appreciated. We ate at Convivo onsite -- it was fine, solid food, but a bit pedestrian flavor-wise. That said, there are so many excellent places to eat in Santa Barbara, and we walked to several without any trouble. Very walkable area for both beach time and dining. For car lovers: there's constant classic car and hot rod cruising along the beach, which was fun to watch from the balcony. It's not cheap, but it's reasonable for the location, room size, and level of service. But only stayed one night for the wedding. The other nights that we stayed were at another hotel in Santa Barbara. This Hilton hotel I'm giving one star more than the other because it is a Hilton. 1) Completely out dated. It looks like it's something out of the 90s. They can at least buy new furniture. The carpets smell. Everything smells very musty and old. The front desk when you check in is very small. We actually walked right by it because we didn't even see it. It was that small. For such a big hotel you would think that they would have a bigger front desk for their guest to check in and out of. For this to be a Hilton, they need to spend more money on renovation. 2) We could only stay one night because of how expensive it was. We were expecting a lot more for the price. When we entered the room, the linens smelled, and again the carpet smelled very musty. We called the front desk. It took them forever to answer the phone and when they did, they had an attitude about changing the linens. It took two hours for them to come to our room to change out the linens thank God they did because the second set of linens did not smell. 3) The staff all over the hotel were completely rude and aggressive. It didn't matter what department they were in. If this was a rundown Motel 6, then that would be one thing, but it was a Hilton in Santa Barbara facing the ocean. 4) When it came time for the wedding it felt great. It felt organized. I'm not sure if that was the Hilton staff or not. but I know that the catering was the Hilton and that was not organized and that staff was horrible and aggressive. For instance, taking your food while you're still eating. And giving you attitude if you say that you're still eating your dinner. 5) When it came time to use the downstairs restroom my wife stated that the downstairs restroom was filthy, and there was paper towels all over the ground. 6) Which brings me to my next point, this Hilton Hotel felt very understaffed. I could keep going, but the point is that my wife and I do love the Hilton family hotels, but this place is not the best Hilton out there. We will not be back.
