A fantastic place where children can explore and unleash their creativity. They have the freedom to run, play, experiment, and innovate! With three floors to discover, we moved through it quickly, yet it was all the more enjoyable. The top floor captured my heart, offering a breathtaking view. Not worth the $20 though.

What an amazing and beautiful children's museum! And it is conveniently located right here on State Street, adjacent to the Funk Zone area and only a couple of blocks away from Strearns Wharf. Warning: I came with my 15 and 10 year olds and they were too old for this museum. My kids are also amazing so they humored me and didn't act too cool and played at every play station even though the other kids in the line are 5 and 7 year olds. Fun. Beautiful. Educational. Jam-packed. Varied. Not the cheapest entrance fee.

Went to the MOXI with our kids today. They had fun exploring and running around to all the exhibits. I thought it was interesting. Watching a mechanical drum beat to the sound of my wife's and son's heartbeat was cool. Finding out that I am a loud walker not so cool. Would I go again, probably not but it was fun to go with my family.

We walked by when we were walking to the pier and my daughter really wanted to check it out. I was worried it might be a little too childish for a pre teen, but end up we both had a good time and spent about 1-1.5 hours there. And also one cool thing is you can send back your projects to your email (I have been to museum that charge extra for that). I will recommend if you have kids and want to get something to do outside than the beach to entertain the kids.

Moxi saved our trip to Santa Barbara . we got this week the only 2 raining days in the week and the city do not offer much on raining days . staff is super welcome . they have this great create your own craft area and all the sensory activities are great for kids from 5 to 13 like mine . i recommend to go to third floor for amazing views of the city .

Filled with sensory play & wonder, curiosity of fun awaits you on each floor at Moxi. There are 3 levels which consists of interactive experiences for every age, toddlers included! I came along with my daughter's kindergarten class to chaperone and it was not what I had expected. It is very cool that they have a museum to exist that question young minds to think, to build, to create, yet at the same time have fun with it! Field trips do not include the workshop on the first floor. The person did not explain nor did I question why at the time as my little group were a little dejected but quickly forgot about it once they headed outdoor. There is a little gift shop located next to the front desk. Parking is a little difficult but then again, where isn't it when in SB. We walked across the train tracks to sit on the lawn for lunch and headed back to school. Noticed there is Starbucks right across the Main Street and restaurants to dine in if you don't have lunch.

Great museum in Santa Barbara. Lots of great views from the rooftop. Lots of great activities for the kiddos and the space is well thought out. Parking was a bit challenging, but we ended up parking at the bus station near by which was $3 per hour with first 75 minutes free. The museum is also a short walk to the pier which we also visited .

    Is it expensive?

    Adult (13+) $15 Child (3-12) $10 2 & Under $0

The website suggests to purchase tickets in advance. Should this be done? What happens if you're late and miss the time that you advance purchase for?

Maybe buy a head of time if your going at peak hours. Otherwise its perfectly ok to purchase on site, once you show up. The staff is pretty relaxed there and they'll still let you in if you arrive late, if you do decide to get tickets ahead of time.

Hi! How far is the museum to the beach? Is it walking distance?

Yes, it's walking distance (around 10 mins?).

I have heard about the rooftop parties. Have those taken place yet? Are they fun?

Hi Jenna - you must be referring to our wildly popular adults-only nights at the museum! Our next Afterparty event is scheduled for Friday, October 20 and tickets go on sale on Thursday, September 28 at 10 AM. Our first three Afterparty events have… Read more

Does it have activities for kids around 1?

You will certainly have to help the little one participate, but yes there is so much to do down there. It's worth at the very least, a visit!

Bring plenty of sunscreen in the summer because you'll want to spend a lot of time on the roof sky garden.

When we were first searching for a venue, the first person we met was Andrew. He took the time to show us the space, listen to our vision, and truly understand not just what we wanted, but why we wanted it. From that very first meeting, he gave us the impression that this team puts the customer first -- and that if something could be done, they would find a way to make it happen. That turned out to be completely true. From there, Melody and the rest of the team were communicative, quick, and direct, answering every question we had with care. The venue itself is spacious and stunning, with so much room to make the space entirely your own. We rented out all three spaces, which gave us the room to really spread out and create something special. One of our biggest selling points was that food, bartenders, tables, and chairs, etc. were all included -- we didn't want to deal with coordinating a dozen third parties just to have the basics covered, and the fact that it was all taken care of in one place was such a relief. They also offer plenty of add-ons to customize your package, and they were completely flexible with us bringing in our own photobooth and DJ -- making it easy to personalize every aspect of the day. The food was absolutely delicious (catered by our favorite - MIZZA) and the team was incredibly accommodating throughout the entire planning process. If we had a specific vision for something, they found a way to make it happen -- no question too big, no detail too small. Our setup was pretty extravagant, with a whole team of family and friends bringing our vision to life, and Andrew and the staff jumped right in to help without hesitation. They made what could have been a stressful process feel seamless and fun. On the day itself, Melody, Andrew, and the whole team made everything feel effortless and magical. Everything went completely smoothly -- we had absolutely no issues from start to finish, which is truly the greatest gift on your wedding day. They served dinner, kept the drinks flowing, and made sure we felt taken care of every single moment. Andrew especially went above and beyond -- my husband is obsessed with the bruschetta, and Andrew made sure a plate was saved and ready for him the moment we arrived. It's those little personal touches that set this team apart. So many thoughtful details made our day unforgettable: early access the day before to set up, coordinating with the restaurant next door to get our cake, letting me use the upstairs space to get into my dress before heading to the courthouse, preserving my flowers so I could enjoy them the next day, and giving us the grace to clean up the following morning without ever feeling rushed. If you're looking for a venue where the team genuinely cares and goes above and beyond for your big day, look no further. We are so, so grateful and would recommend the Santa Barbara Distillery to any couple looking for an incredible space to celebrate.

It's only about a five minute walk, which made everything so convenient for us and our guests. The food was absolutely amazing. Almost a year later, people are still talking about how delicious it was and how much there was. That alone says so much. On top of that, the pricing was incredibly reasonable, especially compared to other quotes we received that were honestly outrageous. The outdoor space with the fountain is such a beautiful bonus and really added to the atmosphere. The owners were wonderful to work with, even though I was planning everything from out of town. They were extremely accommodating and always responded quickly, usually within a few hours to a day, which made the entire process feel so easy and stress free. The wedding staff were also incredible, so kind, attentive, and genuinely helpful throughout the entire event. They made sure everything ran smoothly and made us feel completely taken care of. I can't recommend this place enough. Definitely check it out!

It was recently beautifully refurbished into an oasis of an artisan strip mall and offers surprises both inside and out. The venue is wonderfully landscaped and offers great curb appeal, with ambient lighting and drought tolerant vegetation. The parking area is small but there are reserved spaces in a lot across the street where Low Pigeon Coffee is located. The exterior retains its original "mill" charm with natural wood siding and large industrial windows. You'd have no idea it housed several businesses from the front and that is what I appreciate. The facade was kept to look like how it always has, so it remains in tune with the neighborhood rather than sticking out like a sore thumb. You'll find the coolest courtyard just beyond the entrance which is shared by all businesses. It is well lit and offers ample seating and a few clean restrooms. I've been when there is live music and it's the ideal place to enjoy a beverage under the evening sky. There are a handful of small businesses occupying The Mill. I love the vibe of Potek Wine, the interior is intimate and the exposed barrels make for a nice backdrop. I'd say the star of the show is the Third Window Brewing which offers a large main room along with a secondary private patio and a rotating restaurant which varies from their in-house menu to nightly popup dining. A great vibe overall.

There are tons of sunny campers to supervise their all day play and help them all have a great experience. One of my kiddos had a hard time with waves and got scared (we aren't from here so she isn't super down with the ocean yet) and was hysterical, but one of the counselors was there to get her through that fear, offered her a private surf lesson the next day and got her excited about the ocean and she did some surfing and boogie boarding independently! The counselors are super kind and stoked to get all the kids to love the beach. Obvious this would be awesome for any locals, but I will add we came down from Seattle to go to a family reunion thing and we put our kids in this for the week, and it was the most brilliant vacation scheme ever; the kids got a great California experience, the adults got hours every day where we got to be kid free!
