This hotel is over the flight path of the Santa Barbara airport. I literally felt I was at the airport. They also charge $10 a night for parking which is unusual at this type of hotel. read more

Great stays, great Values! Any hotel that scores between a 4 and 5 in my scoring system, to me are excellent stayover locations... this Courtyard hits the mark dead on, not just on exquisite location - but service, amenities, details, cleanliness and beyond. Having the opportunity to regularly travel by air and auto across and occasionally inside and outside the country, not a professional hotel reviewer by any means, and not a regular business traveler - but as a primarily pleasure and needs wanderer, I have developed as what I believe is a concise a method for measuring the worthiness of each hotel visited. My criteria are: 1) ease of access to and from public or private ground transportation [Score:4]; 2) convenient and safe parking [Score:4]; 3) access, accuracy and convenience of check in and check out [Score:3]; 4) atmosphere, ambience, public facilities, lounging areas and access to an office center and Wi-Fi access [Score:4.5]; 5) overall customer service - including but not limited to Hospitality, Support Services, concierge knowledge, communication, attitude and demeanor [Score:4.5]; 6) quality, cleanliness, value, convenience, amenities and comfort of rooms, beds, room safe [Score:5]; Taking all the aforementioned categories, I've devised a scale of 1 star to 5 stars with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best a hotel can be! This hotel rates a: 4.1. Most positive point(s) at this airport are: it's proximity to dining, activities and parks - as well as the downtown action centers. Most negative points here are: the access to inside corridors from parking area are too few and far between. Excellent price to value to amenities - what one would expect in convenience, cleanliness and responsive service while away from home. read more

Staff was incredibly rude. I booked the wrong Marriott. Residence in is just down the road and pet friendly. I booked this one by mistake....and I was I sorry. Staff was so rude and when I realized the mistake, I was told I could not cancel my reservation. Residence in down the road is much nicer and staff is too. read more

A great stay at the Courtyard by Marriott. We stayed Friday night 9/7/12, so I guess the hotel had only been open about two weeks. It is easy to get to from Hwy 101, just take the Storke Rd/Glen Annie Exit & go West on Storke Rd. past Hollister Ave & it will be on your right. It is West of The Marketplace shopping center which has Costco in it. If you are going to be in Santa Barbara, Goleta is a nice place to stay & still close to everything in SB area. We had a 2 queen bed room & it was comfortable. The doors to the hallway are really, really noisy & I find this to be a common problem. Marriott (& other hotels) should research how to have the doors close without slamming loudly. I was awakened in the morning to hear lots of loud doors & I had a "sound machine" going already to drown out any noise. This new Courtyard uses the "bistro" style restaurant which has Starbucks coffee drinks, a full bar, and light meals. I miss the breakfast buffet that Courtyard used to offer. I think with the Bistro they are able to really downsize the hotels without actually having a restaurant kitchen at all. The rooms are nice but again they are a little downsized as Marriott is now using smaller furniture that looks like an IKEA wall unit. They still have the desk that pulls out & the computer chair if you need to work on your laptop, but it is smaller than before. There is also a comfy side chair in the room. I prefer the look of the older Courtyards that had real furniture and a real restaurant. However this one has a very nice tub/shower combo, and a nice, roomy sized bathroom. There is a full length mirror on the wall in the hallway area. The central courtyard area with pool looked nice from our hotel window above. They have a FIRE PIT that is going in the evenings with chairs around it & at the other end of the pool there is a strip of fire burning for ambiance. We were on the 2nd floor as we are Gold members of marriott rewards & like top floor. The front desk staff were helpful, the staff in the "bistro" were still learning how to prepare the light meals. I ordered a burger and fries for my son. The menu doesn't say this, but the burger comes with fries. They serve free coffee in the morning in the lobby until 10 am. You can also buy the special Starbucks coffee drinks anytime in the bistro. There are two computer stations just to print boarding passes in the hallway near the elevator by the lobby, and there is also an additional computer business center for guests as well. We checked in after 9 pm so we didn't have time to try the exercise center but it looked like a pretty good one. The maids need more training as I reported the next day to the front desk, as the coffee grounds were still in our room coffee pot & the regular coffee had not been replaced so I had to go and ask for some as I had 2 decaf in the room. Overall a good stay and we will definitely be going back. Highly recommended! I like how they put the hearing impaired rooms across from the elevators because those guests won't hear the elevator noise. Good planning on their part. Give it a try, I think you will enjoy your stay. read more

The hotel is pretty, and the front desk is very friendly. However, I don't know if it's a busy week while we were here (5 nights), but the room was not clean. I had to ask housekeeping to not only change the bedsheets, but also for more shampoo since the housekeeping wouldn't provide more when we were clearly out of supply. One night, we came back to find the trash can on top of the toilet after housekeeping "cleaned" the room. Further inside, even the bedsheets were messy! It looked like a half hearted job of cleaning with the housekeeping thinking to themselves "that'll do." Maybe they were in a rush finish their work. Very disappointed. read more

Who knew I could find the perfect place for a quick relaxing getaway right here? It's not in Santa Barbara...it's just outside of it. Last minute adventure day had us driving up north and stopping wherever we felt like it. This is where we decided to stop and I'm pleasantly surprised. A hotel snob at heart, this does NOT feel like a typical Marriott Courtyard...it has a gorgeous outside pool/patio/lounge area with fire pits. Perfect for quiet conversation and exactly what I needed that day. Staff was friendly, food in the lobby restaurant was pretty good, and it was well-maintained. Next time I need a quick getaway, this will be on the list. read more

Marriott at Goleta. We chose this Hotel because it was close to the UCSB campus which a family member is attending come the Fall. We liked the parking availability versus the hotels closer to town. Checkin was smooth. Room was on the second floor facing the pool area. The room was very clean, the hotel in general was kept very clean, people vacuuming halls, cleaning lobby and gym. It was very nice to have the little extra touches of fresh flavored water, fresh apples and freshly baked cookies all complementary throughout the day. Also the frig in room and access to microwave in lobby was nice. Free Wifi a plus, could be a little faster though. We will be staying again. read more

Omg worst hotel experience. So at night there is banging in the wall. All night long, I'm so tired. Then I go downstairs to the Starbucks. The girls there did not know how to make coffee which made me not even trust the food. The girl made the coffee the dumped half a cup of cold water into to fill it up. The only gave me coffee and water, not even what I asked for, which was an carmel ice coffee with cream and sugar, but nooo. I get coffee watered down. Then there is never towels by the pool. I do not recommend staying here read more

My sister chose this for our overnight stay with our mom before her early eye surgery in Santa Barbara. We made the most of our short time in this lovely hotel. While Goleta is not particularly known for eye appeal in this area sometimes called the California Riviera, the Courtyard Marriott felt like a relaxing oasis. In fact, although I've stayed in a few Courtyard Marriotts before, the actual courtyard here impressed me like none other. It caught my eye on the walk to my 2nd floor room of the 2 story property as the the buildings surround this jewel. The windows along the hallways overlook it, with its pool, spa and seating areas in a lovely garden setting. There were at least two groupings situated around gas-fueled fire pits - the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening. We were fortunate to have a room overlooking the courtyard. Teresa and I shared the queen bed by the window and Mom got to sleep in the other solo. I have a hard time finding mattress that I consider comfortable. I loved everything about this bed, from the firm mattress, to the down-filled pillows (and plenty of them), to the quality linens. I wish I had this bed at home! The bedside lights were bright enough to read by, and there were outlets galore to accommodate all our charging needs. The bathroom was handsome with a tub/shower combo with no shortage of water pressure. Shampoo, conditioner, soap and lotion were provided, although they were in bottles even smaller than usual and nothing overly luxurious. Before the night was over, Teresa and I took advantage of the courtyard amenities with a post-prandial dip in the whirlpool. It was just the ticket to send us to slumberland in that cozy bed, all de-stressed and unwound. If not for the 5:30 wake-up, it would have been ideal! read more

We have stayed here several times and this is by far the best Hotel in the area. The rooms are very clean, the staff is accommodating and the management is very knowledgeable. The Pool area is to die for, we always end up staying in the hotel and enjoying the beautiful outdoor patio. Leslie, Stacy, Drew and the rest of the staff is always friendly and ready to assist us in any way. Thank you! read more

I had such a great stay at the Courtyard by Marriott in Goleta a couple weeks back on our way from Santa Barbara to Solvang. Check in was such a smooth process, and the woman helping us (I think her name is Nicole) was so lovely. We stayed in the two-queen suite, and the room was spacious and clean. Had a glass of wine at the Bistro at night, then woke up for a delicious breakfast there as well. Highly recommend for a weekend trip! read more

What a GREAT experience. When you first walk in you are shocked at how wonderful and comfortable the lobby is. Great for meeting people and just hanging out. The front desk staff is all smiles an happy to see you. The rooms are very comfortable. One of my favorite things to do was sit outside, in the courtyard with friends and chat by the fireplace. It was the perfect place for us all to stay for my big girls weekend birthday celebration. Close to various day trip activities and Jodi at the front desk did a great job helping us plan everything out. We are considering meeting there again! read more

I'm told that this is a new hotel, and it's probably the best Courtyard I've stayed in in a long time. Hotel staff is quick and friendly. Rooms have a slightly modernized layout compared to other Courtyards. Outside area is actually quite gorgeous, with pool, jacuzzi, and 2 fire pits. Not a bad way to enjoy that Santa Barbara weather without having to leave your hotel. Costco, shops, and restaurants are just a block away. read more

Great stay. The rooms and facilities seem very new. It is a quiet area, but close to a shopping plaza with plenty of restaurant/fast food options and a Costco. For the road-trippers, the nearby Costco unfortunately does not have a gas station. The staff is accommodating and helpful. There is a microwave located in the small food shop within the hotel if you need to heat something up. read more

One of the best Courtyards I've stayed at in my travels. Nice layout and build out. The room temperature is not regulated by the thermostat very well. You end up hot then cold and back and forth throughout the night. The patio area is very nice. It has a pool, hot tub, putting green, fire pit and several tables. The staff is very friendly and helpful. read more

Best courtyard hands down period. Rooms are above average but the location is great. The common area, especially the courtyard are fantastic. Only reason no fifth star was due to the high price, but is was high season so can't blame them. read more

First time visiting this hotel. We found this place while looking for lodging in the vicinity of the Santa Barbara area. We map-quested (is this a word?) this place prior to our drive up from Los Angeles. This place is so new that its landmark didn't even show up on the satellite version of map quest. Glad to know it was actually there when we arrived. This place is not difficult to find and it is conveniently located a block from The Marketplace in Goleta. Despite the fact that it is right next door to a fire station, the noise from emergency vehicles was infrequent...in fact, I don't remember hearing sirens to the level of noticing them. What was annoying were the heavy room doors that slammed shut in loud fashion. Since this place is brand, brand new the entire room (and rest of the facilities) was in excellent condition. Nice room decor, comfortable beds, flat screen TVs (maybe 32"), and free WiFi. The bonus of this place is ample free parking and its location. With proximity to The Marketplace, UCSB, a 10 minute freeway drive to Santa Barbara while being walking-distance close to restaurants, shopping and entertainment makes this place a great option for lodging. If staying here, a nice treat is sitting in the actual courtyard enjoying a nice cup of coffee from the on-site Starbucks and a delicious coffee cake from the hotel's restaurant The Bistro. Will definitely be back if I need overnite accommodations in the area. read more

This hotel only opened five months ago and is the nicest Courtyard brand hotel I've stayed at. The mattress and pillows are still better in a full service Marriott and you do not have a restaurant like you would in a Marriott, but in many ways this hotel is superior to larger Marriott properties where I have stayed. The bathrooms are large and well laid out. There's a putting green (they provide clubs and balls) where you can practice or challenge your travel companion(s). They have fire pits in the patio when it is not too cold to sit outside. I agree if the point of your trip is to hang out in downtown Santa Barbara, then the hotel is a little out of the way, but if you are passing through on a road trip or in Goleta for business, this is a perfect location. read more

Definitely one of the nicest courtyards I've ever stayed in - and I stay in marriotts 80-90 times a year. The actual courtyard is pretty amazing with two fire pits, pool and hot tub. The rooms are standard but very clean. Every employee I've met had been super nice and helpful! read more

rockstar staff and genuinely great service with heart. This place totally exceeded my needs. Pros: The staff, the staff , the staff Fire Pits Gym Pool Room design proximity to airport, Goleta Pier, and UCSB Cons: bright garish interior colors steep pricing (for a courtyard) no organic food options (hit the whole foods before you arrive) bathroom doors shut automatically. I left here well rested, well fed, happy and grateful. read more

I had a great experience here. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, the shower was hot, the gym was up to date, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was just ok, but it was a classic free hotel breakfast, so I can't take a star away for that. read more

I have not even stayed here yet and the girl at the front office was horrible. We have a block of rooms there and informed me that the cut off was 2 weeks back..totally understand but then told me that she had been working with the wedding planner yesterday and just gave others rooms under the rate. But cannot for me...hmmm, why would you even say that? This just doesn't sound right to me. I have never been dismissed by an agent like this before. So rude and definitely not the way Marriott treats their Bonvoy guests. I have been with Marriott for 10 years this is just flat out rude. read more

I was quite disappointed in this hotel. First the positive. It is a fairly nice property. Now for the negatives. I had called at 9 AM that morning to request an early check-in and was told that they had plenty of rooms and an early check-in would be absolutely no problem. We arrived and were provided with the room, however we got to our room and found out it was a handicap equipped room. They did not mention this to us upon check-in. Within a handicap room is a shower that is flush with the floor. After being told there were absolutely no other rooms available until 3 PM which was the time we needed to leave for an event, we opted to try and stay in that room. I turned on the shower in the entire floor of the bathroom flooded because the showerhead was not adjustable. We then called back and requested that they please change our room. They gave us a double queen. We packed up all of our stuff and headed down to get our new keys. Went up to the room the keys did not work. Went down and got new keys those keys did not work. They finally brought us a 3rd set new keys, after we were let in our room by housekeeping. After departing the room to leave for our event I had realized I forgot something and went back to the room to get it and again my key did not work. The first few times we requested keys, the front desk staff appeared annoyed. read more

Made a reservation to stay at this Marriott property recently, traveled 3,000+ miles to get there from Boston, MA and was informed upon my arrival that they were overbooked and could not accommodate me. They arranged for me to stay at a dirty non-Marriott property nearby and for the inconvenience, offered no rewards whatsoever. Terrible customer service! I even tried voicing my dissatisfaction up the ladder and was circled back to the same assistant manager and manager of this location, who stated they did not owe me anything because I'm not a member of status. So much for feeling like a valued Marriott customer! After this dreadful experience, I will not be staying at any Marriott properties in any future business travel. I have had nothing but great experiences at HILTON properties and will proceed as a loyal Hilton customer from this point forward. Thanks for nothing, Marriott. read more

I was really disappointed with my stay here. I travel a lot for work and I stayed 5 months at the Fess Parker Double Tree in Santa Barbara but ended up staying at the Courtyard the last week of my business trip. The staff was nice and the hotel is brand new so that's a plus. However, the walls are very thin and doors close really loud. You just hear doors slamming all night. Further, something was taken out of my hotelroom and when I was reaching out to the hotel staff they were not very helpful and said they were not liable. read more

Horrible noisy hotel. I would never stay here again nor would I tell any of my friends or family to stay there. Also, their beds are terrible. My back hurt for two days (and I'm in my early 30's so it's not from age!). They also give you these pillows that go completely flat when you lay on them. You might as well just lay your head on the mattress as it's the same thing! They probably purchased their pillows at discount at the kmart across the street. I rated them as pricey. It's not necessarily "pricey" but it is for a noisey room that vibrates all night and flat pillows. read more
