As a therapist myself I understand the vulnerabilities that client have in session and how fragile emotions can be during the first week of therapy. It is important to build rapport, empathize, respect and support people especially if it is their first time in therapy. I had my first session with Liz and I honestly write with such disappointment. She was extremely unprofessional, rude, and non empathic. She charges 150$ which is fine but I felt for this fee the therapist would be a little more knowledgeable, seasoned and attuned. I found her through Yelp and now I understand why she had no reviews. It was my mistake for not getting a proper referral which is why I am posting this review. I am not angry or trying to retaliate by no means but I would like to spare someone else from going through what I experienced. I sought her services for couples counseling. During our first session she offered no hope, little insight minimal feedback. I sent her an email before my partners first session and she took it completely wrong and made it about boundaries. When I tried to clarify I gave her a call and she did not answer. Instead she sent me a text saying she did not want to work with me anymore at the exact time she was to start with my partner. No ample notice, my partner was literally on zoom waiting for her. Completely unprofessional as this was his first experience in therapy. She had also forgotten the time of the appointment. I had to screen shot and send it to her via text that she offered a different slot. She made her frustrations with the email about myself and was so incredibly rude as she stated that she was not here to build my ideal partner, I still cannot believe it. She even went off to say that my partner had a disorder that would be hard to deal with. I was like wow, no hope, isnt that what therapy is about? I am real too and honest with my clients/patients but this was ridiculous. I am not blameless I am sure I must have upset her but these things should always be addressed professionally and with empathy. If I said something in an email (naturally I was anxious about problems I had come to seek support with) she could have called me and cleared it out with respect. It is so unfortunate that there are people like her in this field. I have been in the field for years, I have never treated anyone this way and neither have any colleagues that I know. This therapist is definitely more worried about ego than motivated by helping others. I highly discourage working with her. Also, the last text I received from her was a threat about taking legal action if I posted a fraudulent review about her. Whatever that means? Nothing on here is false. This was my experience and her trying to intimidate me to not post a review just encouraged me more to speak out. Just my thoughts and experience. She also uses information for case studies to train interns which I had asked her to please not to and respect my privacy, make sure you read that in her consent forms. Some therapists do that but it is not my preference. Something to think about as well. Hope this helps someone save time, money but most importantly some pain. This was very disheartening for both my partner and I. read more
