I must say I was pressed to find a replacement therapist and was throughly pleased with the level of expertise and professionalism of provided by Debra Brittain. My areas of needs span from depression, PTSD, from a tragic accident, and multiple deaths of my immediate family members in a short 5-6 year span. Her tools and knowledge in these areas in addition to her supplemental expertise as a Somatic Practitioner has proved to assist in getting my mental health in the right direction for healthy living. Over the years I've seen many therapist, Debra is one of the few that have shaped my life tremendously. I came to Debra very lost, I felt so much disconnection from myself. She has helped me put the pieces together in a way that has shaped my understanding of emotions, grief, life. What I value the most from her is the science I like that she gives me the details and explains to me many theories and perspectives that are rooted in science and philosophy. She makes me feel seen, heard and understood. She works at my pace. And really listens to me. I am forever grateful to have found her as my therapist. My experience using virtual sessions has been great because I like that I can schedule my sessions online using the portal. And then just clicking the link in my email on the day of my sessions. we use all the session time effectively. I never had an issue getting a session and she always responds promptly to messages. Booking in advance is important. I usually plan my sessions for the month. The only inconvenience I've had has been with the layout of the calendar when picking a session I don't like that I have to scroll week by week. Is more efficient for the user to have the option of seeing the calendar month displayed with the days that are available and the ones that are not. Is easier to scroll month by month Than week by week that I find very time consuming. Not every therapist fits ones needs but she did for mine. read more

I was seeking a therapist during the pandemic to help deal with everything that was going on but also so I could work on past and current family issues. She recommended a book right off the back which I found helpful. I found her implementation of somatic/body work to be incredibly fascinating and useful. She makes me very comfortable during our sessions so much that I've cried more times than not (which is super cathartic). Therapy only works when you're open and willing to learn and grow. I had seen Debra Brittain a few times. During one of my sessions I read a letter I had written, she replied 'Oh wow, that so well written'. I'm multilingual, college educated third generation Mexican American whose parents are also college educated. This micro-racism was the first of a few incidents. At a following session held after lunchtime (1pm). I was in the midst of crying when I look up and see she has her eyes closed and is FALLING ASLEEP!!! Debra is a stunning therapist and human being! She has helped me to see situations that cause me anguish in a very different perspective than what I interpreted myself. This has allowed me to alter my thinking to embrace new ways of seeing my world. I originally saw her for intense and frightening panic attacks that she helped me reverse in just a few sessions and quit the dangerous and addicting pharmaceuticals prescribed for it! She is thoughtful and innovative and well-read and versed in many modalities and ways of thinking. I have seen her off and on for several years and have always found her to be quite intelligent and informed as well as warm and compassionate and very quick to link together different thoughts to make sense of what made no sense before. She is a kind and 'real' person with a sense of humor and a big heart as opposed to the therapist I saw before her, who seemed to have a head and brain but lacked this vital organ! I referred my partner, who is affected by childhood issues. She says that Debra revealed to her a way that her subconscious mind was protecting her that served a purpose when she was young, but got in the way of her thinking clearly now... this was a completely unexpected revelation to her and helped her greatly to alter this pattern of thought. Even more amazing was how quickly Debra figured this out, in a couple sessions, not a couple years! My partner then referred her friend who told her that Debra did something similar for her by quickly revealing a thought pattern that prevented her from seeing her most important issue clearly. Debra always makes me feel comfortable discussing my most personal concerns. Her smiles and positive outlook and generous attitude are always refreshing. Finding a therapist is a very difficult process. Resonating with the right person is paramount to being successful in your recovery. Debra is unique in many ways. She has strong boundaries and terrific insight. She has a sense of humor which helps in the therapy process when things get really heavy during session. She is generous with her time, when the situation warrants a longer session. She is not the type of therapist that wants you to be in therapy for years so she can collect a fee. I don't normally write reviews, however i must say that finding Debra and having her as my therapist has been life changing. I have seen her and continue to see her since 2015. She has helped me process certain traumatic events in my life that I would otherwise not. With her guidance and experience I was able to change things in my life that made me feel stuck. I was able to express my feelings and name them. I reconnected with myself and learned to trust myself and my emotions. I learned to connect with others, repair relationships and set healthy boundaries with loved ones. Debra has helped me in many ways, she was and is empathetic, a great listener and asks you to correct her if something does not resonate with you. She gives you the tools to learn how to cope and she is supportive. Her loss I was going to pay cash because of her rude comment I finished the call as she shunned me. Sad to see that people call a therapist for help but all the therapist cares about is money. What I found with Debra was someone who would listen to whatever - I mean whatever, I needed to get out. Someone I agreed to tell the truth to no matter what. After the hour she scheduled me for an appointment on August 1st, however she forgot to pencil in the appointment on her end. I never received confirmation through the client portal. I can honestly say that I have never had a psychologist be a true advocate for what I am capable of achieving.
