Policeman movie showing for Doylestown pride

I can't believe I haven't done a review of the county theater before. I had gone a few times prior to the remodel but the last time I went was the first time since the expansion. When I went they weren't selling tickets at the outside window anymore and all tickets were purchased inside. Someone did check my ticket but I had no idea he worked there since there's no dress code or anything and he was on the phone, but wouldn't let me walk by without ripping my ticket. It was just a little unprofessional. There were 4 people working at concessions which seems like a lot for a tiny little theater. I got a small popcorn. Neither the ticket prices or concession prices were too bad ! The lobby is definitely huge, I'm honestly not sure what else is different about the theater because my memory is terrible. But it was big and spacious. The theater appears to be the same size! I had a nice experience overall. I definitely would love to check in to getting member tickets!

The County Theater appears to be the only cinema in Bucks to show independent and limited distribution films. For that it has my appreciation. I certainly wish the Newtown Theater, the oldest in the country, had the same policy. The digital projection is a big plus. I was there last Sunday for a 4:00 pm show, and it was packed. Not an empty seat in the house! Applause to the members and others who take interest in this institution, as it makes it a fine community resource. If there is any downside (and I hesitate to mention it), it is that when crowded, the seats are a bit cramped, and not as comfortable as the "big house" theaters. Too, sometimes you get some attitude from the regulars who have their favorite seats, and refuse to move over to make room for another couple, forcing them to sit apart. Not much the theater can do about that. Over all, a wonderful piece of Bucks cultural heritage alive and well today.

Always wonderful there. The volunteers are so helpful and pleasant, and the movie theater is very comfortable. Absolutely the best.

Prompt service. Comfortable seating. Bright, clear picture; even from the back of the theater.

Love this place. We see a movie here twice a month. It is so affordable and has such charm. We're lucky to have this theater in town.

I came here recently for a Flashback Cinema showing--it's a series in which many independent theaters play vintage classic movies from the 80s and 90s. I had a blast! It's so fun to see historic blockbusters on the big screen. This is a low-key, no frills venue. There is a modest snack stand at the front and older style seating. I came for a Sunday matinee and it was not busy. There was a family who had rented out one of the rooms, which seems like a cool thing to do. Tickets are $10 and below. I'd definitely recommend coming here if you want a nostalgic theater experience and the chance to see some classic films.

Tickets are $10 ($9 for military, $8 for kids), and they have a special on Wednesday's for $6 tickets. Soft drinks and Icees are $6 or $7 by size. Popcorn is $7, $8, or $9 (of $15 for a giant tub that gets $2 refills). Popcorn and drinks are also discounted on wednesdays. It's set up almost exactly like a movie theater from twenty years ago. I find that charming and nostalgic, though some might find it dated. Either way, while the configuration is classic, it's clean and properly maintained. And while they don't specialize in having a bunch of IMAX screens or Dolby Atmos, etc., they have crystal clear laser projection and decent audio systems that compare to the non-premium (IMAX, etc.) screens at brand new theaters. You're not looking for that much service-wise at a movie theater snack bar, but the staff were friendly, polite, and did everything the right way. The popcorn was fairly fresh. They have the old school "butter" dispensing machine. It was great to be able to have a nice date night at the movies, complete with the snacks we each wanted, for less than $50 for both of us.

They do have a bar area and a popcorn stand. I went for their 90 minute cat video event. During the preshow I learned that this is the oldest theater is America! How crazy is that! They have some fantastic shows coming up including many tribute bands as well as movie showings. I'm really hoping to get tickets see Joan Osborne singing the songs of Bob Dylan. Not only did we get to enjoy a night out in this charming town, but we also had the chance to be part of a place filled with history and character. Walking into the theatre felt like stepping back in time in the best way--warm, classic, and full of heart. The ambience was absolutely perfect. The cozy, intimate setting made the entire experience feel personal and inviting. From the moment we walked in, the energy was welcoming. The fresh-popped popcorn added that nostalgic movie-night touch, and the bartenders and staff members were incredibly friendly, helpful, and genuinely happy to be there. Their hospitality made the night even better. We came to see The Ultimate Doors, and what a show! The sound, the vibe, and the atmosphere all came together to create a memorable night. It's rare to find a venue that feels both historic and alive, but Newtown Theatre gets it right. We would absolutely love to visit again. If you're thinking about catching a show here--do it. It's an experience you won't forget!
