Water Tower Cinema is great if you're looking for a throwback theater experience at a reasonable price. I came here recently for a Flashback Cinema showing--it's a series in which many independent theaters play vintage classic movies from the 80s and 90s. I had a blast! It's so fun to see historic blockbusters on the big screen. This is a low-key, no frills venue. There is a modest snack stand at the front and older style seating. I came for a Sunday matinee and it was not busy. There was a family who had rented out one of the rooms, which seems like a cool thing to do. Tickets are $10 and below. I'd definitely recommend coming here if you want a nostalgic theater experience and the chance to see some classic films. read more

If you miss the early aughts theater experience, this is a great theater for you. Ditto if you want to see a movie in theaters but feel priced out by the AMCs and such. Tickets are $10 ($9 for military, $8 for kids), and they have a special on Wednesday's for $6 tickets. Soft drinks and Icees are $6 or $7 by size. Popcorn is $7, $8, or $9 (of $15 for a giant tub that gets $2 refills). Popcorn and drinks are also discounted on wednesdays. It's set up almost exactly like a movie theater from twenty years ago. I find that charming and nostalgic, though some might find it dated. Either way, while the configuration is classic, it's clean and properly maintained. And while they don't specialize in having a bunch of IMAX screens or Dolby Atmos, etc., they have crystal clear laser projection and decent audio systems that compare to the non-premium (IMAX, etc.) screens at brand new theaters. You're not looking for that much service-wise at a movie theater snack bar, but the staff were friendly, polite, and did everything the right way. The popcorn was fairly fresh. They have the old school "butter" dispensing machine. It was great to be able to have a nice date night at the movies, complete with the snacks we each wanted, for less than $50 for both of us. read more

I have been coming to this theater for a while since it was Frank's . It's not my regular theater choice only because of distance but they do have a decent amount of showings and every time I do go it's clean and nice. The seats are comfy and the theater is definitely well maintained. I have to remember this location is here because it definitely is better than some of the other local cinemas. I like the fact that it is independently owned as well. There also is always ample parking. read more

I just moved to Lansdale from Los Angeles. I've spent the past decade working in Hollywood. I've been to all the iconic movie palaces from Grauman's Chinese Theater to Tarintino's New Beverly Cinema. Water Tower Cinema is my new favorite movie theater. Everything is BRAND NEW!!! It's super sleek with a simple, modern design. The digital posters are modern and fun to watch. The prices are so reasonable and the weekly deal is Way Back Wednesdays - $5 tickets. The seats are comfortable and the theater is spotless. They listened to criticism about the sound system and the new surround sound is spectacular. I've reported the reviews complaining about vaccination requirements in 2021. I admire the courage and attention to detail with this community-driven renovation. We already purchased tickets for 2 other showings this week. We are very interested in the gaming offerings - just need to stress test the wifi for Fortnite. No megaplex will ever compare to Water Tower Cinema. I like the simplicity of this theatre. It is no frills , it's not the movie theater there aren't drinks , limited food and movies. Just saw a low budget M.Knight movie and the $9.00 cost with a $6.00 popcorn was perfect. The previews were extremely loud , way too loud and it gave me a headache. The movie was fine and no issues. It is commendable that in a small township like Montgomeryville, in Southeast Pennsylvania, the Metropolitan Opera in streaming live in HD, is trying to reach an audience that would not experience live opera performances. However, the Watertower Cinema, while convenient, and not overly attended by opera aficionados, is a disappointing venue for opera enjoyment. Firstly, the theatre puts the multiplex screenings room next to a loud blockbuster that overwhelms the music from the opera, Secondly, the volume of the opera is too low to distinguish stereophonic sound, so the opera, while difficult to hear, also sounded flat. Thirdly, during the performance of Aida, somewhere during Act One, the theater lights were tuned on ( my wife had to exit to tell the managers to turn the lights back off! (this also occurred on our last venture to watch La Tosca, where they failed to turn off the lights until ten minutes into the performance. if the theater thinks so little of their opera patrons, then they deserve to lose the rights to distribute the Met Opera Streaming franchise. There may not be many of us, but we are discriminating! read more

This is a new improved Frank's movies called water tower cinema, and we must've been there on the first night and boy has it improved with much improved interiors, theater style seating with cupholders, great video and nice sound. We saw a 98% tomato rated Ford versus Ferrari and it was spectacular. Highly recommended nine dollars a senior $10 an adult. read more

This is a really nice movie theater! It's clean and relatively inexpensive and has that neighborhood movie theater feel to it! We have seen many first run movies there and have taken my wife's 92 year old mom to enjoy the movies there. It's very nice to have an old fashioned neighborhood movie theater back again! I wish they would bring back the drive in movies as that was a great time for families in the summer! read more

Went to this theater once, and they never dimmed the lights. I spoke to the attendant at the snack bar. As I left the building, the manager caught up to me outside, apologized, and gave me a free ticket. I live closer to an AMC, but I will go two miles out of my way to come here. AUDIO IS LIKE WATCHING TV - NOT A MOVIE THEATER EXPERIENCE Been to this theater twice. First time I thought the audio sounded odd, as if tracks were missing. Today I went again and it was just as bad. The sounds is only from front speakers like you're watching a TV. There is no immersive surround sound as you'd expect from a theater. Any noise or talking in the audience is louder than the movie. I advised the front counter and they confirmed it saying that they only have front speakers, no surround. What theater today doesn't have surround sound? Unacceptable! If I wanted to watch TV quality I would have stayed at home. .Waste of time and money. - especially because even though I reported this within 20 minutes of the movie starting and I said I was leaving, they didn't offer a refund. read more

I've tried to support this local theater, but I just can't any more. There's almost always some kind of an issue with the movie itself. One movie, the sound was so loud I felt like i was going to suffer damage to my ears. I had to leave the theater to ask that they adjust the volume, which they finally did. A few movies later, the volume was so low, we were missing half the dialogue. Once again, I had to leave the theater to ask them to adjust the volume, missing several minutes of the show. The last straw was me sitting in the theater with my grandsons, waiting and waiting for the movie.... finally go out to ask what was going on after we finished all of our pop corn. For some reason the movie never started!!! This never happens at any other theater... I tried, but I'm not wasting my time or money ever again! Not worth your time and effort read more

What a pleasure to see the old Frank's Theater being refurbished. So fun to go to a locally owned theater. The movie screen and sound system were great. The new seats are really comfortable. They don't have the fancy recliner seats that some theaters have today - but they also don't charge nearly as much. Popcorn was great! The staff was friendly. When Regal went under temporarily, we tried these guys. Two visits, and BOTH times there were groups of young hooligans causing problems. I'm talking about groups of adolescent boys in the 12-14-year range, on a guess. During one movie, they ran around the theater, yelling and screaming. During the next visit, a bunch of them were making noise, throwing stuff (I was struck by a throw candy) and two even tried harassing my little girl and her friend. I had to have a word with them. Management does nothing, the place looks shabby and unkempt, and now they're doing Gestapo-style carding as well? No thank you. Praise the Lord that Regal is back up and running! read more
