Me and my dear friend arranged for tickets for tonight's showing of Carole King: Home Again - Live In Central Park. What a wonderful opportunity to see this independent film of this wonderful concert from 1973. There were too many moviegoers tonight probably because of the weather conditions outside. So there is lots of seating and opportunities to get some lovely, popcorn and drinks. The venue was very tidy . LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the ACME Screening Room in Lambertville NJ. We are 2-year dual members thus far. In the three years since living in Bucks County and first finding the ACME, they have fundraised to upgrade the chairs, the screen, and digital projection equipment. They have also like overnight somehow been able to acquire viewing of the most current indie and foreign films. Top films at that. We just saw Stan and Ollie, Shoplifters, Cold War, and many other excellent films. Just last night, 3/2/19, we saw a South Beach Miami documentary of two photographers that captured the life and evolution of South Beach. Well done and informative. Just in the past 4 months, we've seen more films at the ACME then at the Montgomery Theater in Skillman and we no longer drive out to the Ambler, Hiway or Colony theaters. I've also participated as a presenter at two 20x20 Pecha Kutcha events and recently volunteered to photograph presenters of the Feb 8th event. Feels good to be apart of the community. Support the ACME so that they can continue to bring us such great film and other experiences. read more

The ACME Screening Room is a non-profit weekly independent and documentary film series. They are located in Lambertville's City's "Justice Center. The Screening room takes it name from the building's past tenant, the ACME supermarket. They regularly features guest speakers (authors, directors, activists), post-film discussion programs and/or exhibitions held in conjunction with a film. The films are from local and national filmmakers. I was fortunate enough to score tickets to see ADVENTURES OF A SECRET KIDD with Kenn Kweder, a film about the Philadelphia Rock Star who has been performing since the mid-seventies. The show included a Q&A after the screening with Kenn Kweder, director John Hutelmyer and the Producer Daniel Roberts. This was followed by a three course dinner at the Swan. Kenn brought his guitar and played for us after the show and again during the dinner at the Swan. He still Rocks it! Films are screened using digital projection and a 5.1 surround sound system in an intimate setting. They recently upgraded the seating to nice comfy chairs which greatly improves the experience from the previous hard plastic. Snacks, water and soft drinks are all available for a nominal fee in the lobby. The Executive director, Donna was on hand to greet guests and to ensure the screening ran smooth. Annual membership is available in different tiers for the ACME screening room and provide a number of benefits above the box office tickets. Parking is available for free on the street or use the lot next to ACME. It is a metered lot and the Meters go until 9 pm. read more

I was very happy with my experience. I wanted to see an independent film called Last Resort. I googled it and this place came up and I always wanted to go to Lambertville. Parked out front and went in and picked up ticket which I bought online through their site. They had concessions like flavored popcorn and soda and candy. The people there were friendly and told me about the place. Film was good too. I would go back for sure. read more

Ripped off! My wife and I went to see a movie at this venue. We drove 50 minutes , paid for parking, and entered the venue. Within minutes of the start of the film, we realized the the WRONG FILM WAS BEING SHOWN. It was not the advertised film. I immediately advised the staff and requested a refund. I was told "all sales are final." I then contacted the executive director of the Screening Room but I got no response and the posted phone number isn't working. We like supporting local theater, but this one is disorganized and the staff obviously just doesn't care. read more

The only place you can watch movies in Hunterdon County! Good selection of indie film, docs and special events, like Q&A with filmmakers, or a chance for local artists to show works in progress. Recently installed a new digital projection and sound system, so the movies look and sound better - plus, nice cushioned seating! Way better than the old hard chairs. Small, casual, and much less expensive than going to the multiplex. read more

I liked that it is run by the local community. Their selection of films is outstanding, and the projection and sound quality were very high.

We like seeing movies here and supporting this place. They have a small popcorn machine and a small selection of candy. It is very small-town and casual and basically the opposite of a cineplex. Their website works great for pre-ordering tickets. The seating tonight was funny and it kind of pissed me off when we walked in, but it ended up OK. They had an outer ring of comfy-looking high-backed office chairs and a central field of plastic folding chairs. The regulars seemed to know the score and got there early, claiming all of the office chairs. We were stuck in the middle, but we had a great view. The sound is blah, but the sound probably wont matter for any movies you'll see here. Kind of artsy-fartsy and good for a cute date if they're showing something you're into. read more
