We got there 5 minutes before 8pm and were trying to find 2 seats together. There were mostly single seats but there was one 2 seats together in the corner right next to the entrance. They were marked 'for guests coming in late so as not to disturb the show'. We were pretty sure it would be fine and were about to take our seats when one of their attendants rudely stopped us saying we had to take 2 separate single seats. One seat was on the left and the other on the right across the room, how ridiculous!! My husband argued and finally she agreed, but on leaving, she said 'a--ho--! We were totally shocked at that outrageous language. We kept our cool and did not want to cause a scene. We have been going to numerous theatres in the suburbs, in Philadelphia, even Broadway and have never been treated like that or ever had such a horrible experience. This theatre is just a small, run-down, 'Mom & Pop' theatre with such uncomfortable hard chairs (wooden chairs covered with red cloth just to look nice). There is probably no backstage as the performers have to go back and forth through the entrance next to our seats. The stage is so small that the performers stand just about 2 feet away from the front row! This was our first and last patronage to this lousy theatre run by a 'no-class' management.

I'm not going to bore anyone with a long history of the theatre because if you are from the area…read moreyou likely have some idea and if you're not then you probably don't care anyway. http://www.emmaustheatre.com/theatrehistory.html http://www.emmaustheatre.com/history.html This place is one of the last single screen theatres in the Lehigh Valley along with The Roxy in Northampton and Shankweiler's in Orefield. The rules of the road here are simple: 1. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for children under 11/seniors over 60 along with all matinees and shows on Monday thru Thursday night. 2. Keep your ticket stub and take a peek over at the concession stand because they give away free popcorn every show based on ticket stub numbers. 3. Only one screen and the theatre is loooooong so it's best to sit towards the front as the sound is stronger coming from the front of the room. Also a slight quirk is that the theatre sits next to a very active set on Norfolk Southern tracks and more then likely once or twice during the show you will get some decent horn noise along with the floor and seats vibrating a bit if you are sitting on the side closest to the tracks. 4. Sit back and enjoy not being assaulted with thirty minutes of commercials and ads along with previews. The only thing here they preview is either for what they are showing next or the movie that they are showing on weekends/earlier in the night for families. So put down the iPad/iPhone/iPod/Nook/Kindle/Smart Phone/Dumb Phone and take a trip back to a simpler time when going to see a movie was about the movie and not about all the unnecessary bells and whistles on the periphery. Bar none when The Boyd in Bethlehem closed this place took over for best place to watch a movie in the LV.

As a preface, I am a huge supporter and fan of local theater, all my life really. I have found…read morethat even the not-great shows ("Mother Courage and Her Children, I'm talking about you) the energy and passion that local productions brings to the stage is wonderful. I came to visit DCP Theatre because one of my dear friends was directing a play there, and one of my favorite sequined jackets was making it's theatrical debut in her play. Yes, I gave a big round of applause for that jacket. The theater itself is decently sized, with a large flat gravel parking lot, a cute lobby and comfortable seating. I don't think there's a bad seat in the house. The volunteers were to a person friendly and accommodating, and the 'snack bar' of home-made and packaged goods was reasonably priced. It's an older building, which they've been working to restore and upgrade with the funds they earn producing plays, holding raffles, etc. The play itself was funny, well directed (yes I am biased here), and a good pace. It never dragged, the actors were wonderful and I had a great time. I'm looking forward to visiting again soon.

Same day reservation made on the RC website with seats needing to be selected which in reality is highly unnecessary when you're going to see a niche show at 4-something on a weekday with ten other people. Parking is across the street in the garage. I guess at one time you either had to pay or some type of validation was needed but I saw nothing except wide open gates. When we got inside there was a clipboard with no pen next to the main register where you could put your name, make and plate info on there but if it's all open, why? As expected, it was a shit show to cross 2nd Street with all of the traffic but there really isn't a better way unless you can levitate or do a Tom Cruise Mission Impossible-esque run/jump across the street from the top of the garage. Typical of modern weekday movies, in principle you could have walked in without paying and seen the show for free. Only two visible employees. One was in the back of the snack area prepping something while on his phone and the other guy was at the register doing everything thing else. The show was the show. I've played the CD, watched the YouTube clips and seen the concert a million times. This was just bigger. No issues with the picture, sound or seat quality. Overall coming here was good enough, but in all honestly, first time and probably last time.
