Outside of theater on S. 4th St.

I've grown up going to this historic theater. Where else can you get a ticket, a soda and popcorn for less than $10? The seats are fairly new, comfortable and have cup holders (the old ones did not!). Once you buy your ticket, you have a chance of winning a free popcorn, soda or taking $2 off your snack stand order which is always a fun perk! There is a NEW owner as of this summer! He's younger and seems very nice. I had to take away one star because there is a slight tear in the movie screen (only noticeable when the scene on the screen is very 'white') and of course, the Emmaus train adds an extra element of '4D' when it rumbles by once or twice per movie and shakes you in your seat! I find it unique and fun. This is one of my favorite theaters and I feel lucky that it's so close to my home.

What a great place to see a movie. Don't mind the train that only adds to the ambiance. If you've never been to a small local theater it may be s shocker. It's cozy and friendly. What more do you want? The sound system, movie screen, and seats are very good.

What other movie theater has so many popcorn toppings?!

The screen isn't huge, the sound is okay, and the train runs right past the theater at least once during the movie.

I remember seeing movies there as a kid and I am pleased to be able to see live shows as an adult. (They still show current movies at the crazy low price of $4.) As old time theaters go, the Roxy is on the small side. But its grand art deco design and decor rivals any larger playhouse. Anywhere you look--the walls, ceilings, stage--you are reminded that generations of theater-goers sat in that same spot for over a century. It's nostalgic, cozy and magical. We have lost so many historic theaters in this area... this one deserves the public's support. Because of it's smaller size, there's not a bad seat in the house. We were seated halfway down the aisle, on the furthest right of three sections, and had no difficulty seeing every inch of the stage. Seats, while not luxurious, were comfortable. The theater does its best regarding accessibility. Though, it might be a challenge to navigate the small lobby, where the refreshment bar is, when filled with people. There is a dedicated wheelchair section in the theater, but also enough space to wheel down the aisles. As I understand it, there are restrooms on the first level, but also a small ladies (2 stalls and a tiny sink) up a narrow flight of stairs. The snack bar is limited with popcorn, candy and a variety of drinks. The butter seemed fresh, but I was a bit disappointed that my popcorn wasn't hot. I don't know a thing about "acoustics", but from my seat, the sound level was perfectly fine and the singing was clear. Overall we had a lovely time and look forward to returning for more live shows. (Up next: a live performance of The Nutcracker ballet!)

Please take your children to the Roxy to see what real theaters used to look like from the Hollywood Glam days. Prices cannot be beat, both parents and kids will be happy because there is no need to say no when they ask for a box of candy here! I don't know about everyone else but after admission, popcorn and sodas at modern theaters with reclining seats I'm almost broke and refuse to pay $6.99 for a box of candy on top of the exorbitant must get items. Anyway I took my son to see King of Kings cost for 2 with admission, large popcorn, sodas and yes ... CANDY was $20 total. Yep WINNER,WINNER chicken dinner LOL. We'll be back and in case anyone asks, no the seats don't recline but audio and visuals were both great and I think the ticket and concession prices were fantastic!

I came here recently for a Flashback Cinema showing--it's a series in which many independent theaters play vintage classic movies from the 80s and 90s. I had a blast! It's so fun to see historic blockbusters on the big screen. This is a low-key, no frills venue. There is a modest snack stand at the front and older style seating. I came for a Sunday matinee and it was not busy. There was a family who had rented out one of the rooms, which seems like a cool thing to do. Tickets are $10 and below. I'd definitely recommend coming here if you want a nostalgic theater experience and the chance to see some classic films.

Tickets are $10 ($9 for military, $8 for kids), and they have a special on Wednesday's for $6 tickets. Soft drinks and Icees are $6 or $7 by size. Popcorn is $7, $8, or $9 (of $15 for a giant tub that gets $2 refills). Popcorn and drinks are also discounted on wednesdays. It's set up almost exactly like a movie theater from twenty years ago. I find that charming and nostalgic, though some might find it dated. Either way, while the configuration is classic, it's clean and properly maintained. And while they don't specialize in having a bunch of IMAX screens or Dolby Atmos, etc., they have crystal clear laser projection and decent audio systems that compare to the non-premium (IMAX, etc.) screens at brand new theaters. You're not looking for that much service-wise at a movie theater snack bar, but the staff were friendly, polite, and did everything the right way. The popcorn was fairly fresh. They have the old school "butter" dispensing machine. It was great to be able to have a nice date night at the movies, complete with the snacks we each wanted, for less than $50 for both of us.
