Summary: moldy sandwich Labor day weekend I came here and I ordered a BLT. I didn't notice from the center cut that the entire perimeter of the tomato was completely covered by a neon green mold. I ate a few bites before noticing this. Then I realised the sandwich was moldy and felt pretty grossed out. I told our waiter who didn't seem that shocked. He asked the kitchen to remake it and I had a new sandwich but at that point I wasnt that hungry. Also to add insult to injury I was still asked to pay for this sandwich but I wasn't charged for OJ. Um... thanks I guess? As a chef you would have to be fairly negligent to slice and serve a tomato completely covered in mold. It's definitely a dive, looking from outside and in like a beaten up Denny's or IHOP, but having been here several times now, I can say it's totally what you want it to be. The menu is extensive enough to cover anyone's tastes. We've only been for breakfast/brunch, so this review only covers those options. I love all the topping options. My standing favorite is the banana peanut butter waffle (I sub in two 'cakes for the waffle). Yum. Waffles can be ordered as a half or whole, topped with strawberries, blueberries, apples, etc, and any of these can be done as 'cakes as well. They'll let you add eggs and sausage/bacon to anything which is a nice touch too. Not as much food as ordering full sides, which I really like. Service has been really good, other than one time when I think it was a fluke, and the staff is really nice and kind to my kids. They have a huge back room to accommodate large parties. We've never had a long wait, but I presume it's possible on a post-Church morning for a big party. read more

Came here before leaving town to head back to the bay area and it hit the spot. Coffee was fresh and hot, and the biscuits and gravy were huge and tasty. Only downside on my meal was the breakfast potatoes, which had no seasoning and kind of just tasted like oil. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their breakfast, as well. If I'm back in town and looking for some hearty and cheap breakfast, Country Waffles will be on the list. Bottom line: Avoid the breakfast potatoes, but enjoy the waffles! read more

I got pancakes and a side of scrambled eggs. The eggs were rubbery, cold, with strange discolored bits, but the pancake was ok. They were accommodating for kids (I had two little ones with me). The kids smiley face pancake bits are made with fruit, not whipped cream so be prepared for possible disappointment! The decaf coffee was awful, regular was ok. As others have noted, the decor is appalling. Kind of a dive in that it looks really old. The staff were all very friendly and the atmosphere felt like grandma decorated. I usually go to Country Waffles about twice a week sometimes more and I enjoy every meal. Today my employer and I went in for breakfast/lunch. Meaning he had breakfast and I had lunch. I had never had the broasted chicken before. It was the best chicken I ever had. Juicy and crunchy it was so delicious now I'm wondering why it took me so long??? This is my favorite place to eat. Michael has totally redone the restaurant interior during some of the Covoid closures. The staff is very friendly and efficient with frequent coffee runs to keep cups hot and full. Charlene, Jennifer, Wendy and Crystal are always happy to see you and eager to help with your order and comfort. Food is always hot and have never had a bad or less than delicious meal. I haven't been here in years, so decided to give it a try, since I was in the area. It was almost lunchtime but I decided on their chicken fried steak breakfast. It came with three eggs and the choice of hash browns or country fried potatoes. I chose the hash browns, which were perfect. The people are always so helpful and friendly and you don't have to wait for your server as they all help out each other. You can also buy just the biscuits to go. It is noisy when it is about 3/4s full so I try to go before or after the rush. Not always successful since anyone who has been there comes back. The food all taste home made, and is served hot and right away. Everyone that works there deserves a raise including the cooks. Used to be the place to go, but that's changed. We're longtime return customers and the last two times we came, we were rushed to get adult drinks before the kids drinks and then the kids trickled in and took about 15 minutes total. Another 10 minutes before we had a server come take our order because nobody knew it was their table. Now today, we can't barely sit before she rushed our drinks. Then came and dropped them off and ran off. People got sat next to us after us got their order taken first. My family and I enjoy coming here. The customer service from the new owner and his staff is outstanding and really outshines almost every restauraunt in Redding. Even when very busy, we have never had to ask for refills on coffee and water due to the attentive staff. The food is very good and the servings are such that we need to request take-out boxes. Do yourself a favor and come in for breakfast. I spoke with the owner today and he stated that they will be opened for dinner as well. I also told him that I very much appreciated his friendliness to his customers since it must be difficult at times trying to please everyone that walks through his doors. This place is the breakfast champion. Imagine it now: Chicken Fried Steak - delicious crispy-on-the-outside, soft and hot on the inside - hashbrowns. That's what we get for being such slavish devotees to Yelp... We ordered a garden omelette, a basic waffle, and blueberry pancakes. All were good quality, reasonable portion size. The blueberry pancakes were probably the best of the bunch. My wife really enjoyed the waffle, though I did not think it was remarkable. Service was quick, friendly and excellent.
