We stopped at this country looking store to grab some munchies on our way to Las Vegas. The outdoor and indoor decor Looked like an old country store. The wood was weathered and shabby. The signs attached were vintage looking and were very cute. The inside has a shrine for all the lottery winners at this location. I was amazed by the numerous healthy options they actually have. The reason for my amazement as you can see by all the photos is that this place is a soda addicts dream. I saw bacon flavor, popcorn, grass, dirt, and turkey dinner! Um, that is so gross! Shelves of collectors items were all over. Novelty sodas: cans from Star Wars etc were also covering the shelves. Also, if you're a jerky lover this is a must stop for you. They have all the flavors you could possibly want or think of. Our healthy options we chose were garlic roasted pistachios and water. The pistachios did not taste very good at all and were $5 for a tiny little bag. This was a cute little store to stop in while we were looking at the thermometer and alien jerky joint! We didn't need gas, so we decided to stretch our legs at the Country Store. We'd seen it many times but never stopped. The restrooms were decent, a little old, but clean. The real draw to this place is they have every kind of snack imaginable, nuts, chips, cookies, candy. We got a vitamin water, some corn nuts, and some BBQ chips. They have all the flavors of Cornuts, not just one or two like most places. Definitely a larger selection of snacks and beverages than the convenience stores attached to the gas stations. This is a must stop on our trip home from Vegas. We of course stop at the Alien jerky place but we always buy our jerky from here. Cheaper and tastier. They also have a really cool selection of sodas. This is our go to snack and drink place on our way home. They also have cool stuff if you need to browse and stretch your legs. I didn't check out the bathroom but I'm sure I will one day. Staff is always helpful and smiley. I will continue to hit the country store on my way to Vegas or on my way home. read more

Only a pit stop on the way to Vegas, I figured there wouldn't be much to complain about. Boy, was I wrong..... It's 7:45 a.m., what do you need to get your day going? Coffee. What don't they have freshly brewed here? Coffee. Yup, two pots were on empty, leaving only one option: trucker sludge. Well, that and decaf, but c'mon, do we really even call decaf coffee? Like I said, pit stop, and you need to go take care of some very important restroom business. Well, this place isn't the cleanest to do your duty/doodie. The cashier working the store wasn't too friendly either. Maybe if he'd had some coffee in him, he'd be a little more of a morning person. DON't waste your valuable time & money at this place; drive a little further to Eddie World in Yermo- you'll be glad you did! Never stopping here again (why would I especially with Eddie World not too far in Yermo?!)- can't believe I was actually excited for their Dole Whip! DOLE: It's fake- not dole whip, had a Disney pass & enjoyed the dole every time I went, so I would know (sorry not sorry LOL) The bladder infection yellow colored dole whip didn't even have the smooth texture. Only 1 flavor was available (even though signs reflect at least 4 are offered) PRICE: Everything is overpriced... $6+ for a large Dole whip... that the employee purposely left hollow, just to make the serving look like a large (see picture) RESTROOMS: Filthy, only 1 offered per gender CUSTOMER SERVICE: Not one friendly employee- 1 employee was extremely RUDE. The hefty Latino employee in his 30s yelled throughout the store when he caught a glance at the back of my fiancé's head as she went into the restroom. I asked him what was wrong- he said a man went into the woman's restroom (thinking I was a complete stranger- WTF, that's professional right?!) I had to educate him in reminding him that women can have short hair too & it doesn't make them a man if they chose to have short hair. read more

Great attendant! Humorous personality, mixed with fun factoids! However, out of the 4 stalls that were in the women's restroom, only 1 TOILET actually FUNCTIONED ( it was in the handicap stall). Consequently, I was oblivious to the knowledge that there was no toilet paper in that stall (Thank God for baby wipes)! read more

This store has a fascinating mix of inventory including over 100 brands of root beer and every brand of candy bar or sweet treat that you may have assumed was no longer in production... However, as interesting as this store's selection can be to peruse and consider, the management's pricing practices gouge consumers in such an extreme manner that the words "Highway Robbery" come to mind. I filled up with Unleaded Premium fuel in Las Vegas for $2.79 a gallon. The same fuel at this store's 76 brand pumps is $3.99 / gallon. Everything else is 50% to 200% above suggested retail... it's a shame, that the people working on providing decent showing. read more

I stopped at the Country Store in Baker, CA on 9/17/2015. It was my 1st time there. I came there for unusual sodas, unusual candy and beef jerky. I got all three, but my total bill was $77.68 ($52.00 of that was the jerky). Oh well, you are in Baker. Plus, I took photos. read more

Do you like deliciously weird but undeniably desirable candy? Do you think picking 2 or 3 sodas out of about 400 sounds like fun? Dude whoah.... My boyfriend saw the sign and we came and boy did they deliver. I got fermented rose lemonade. And the ginger beer assortment is pretty impressive.... So I picked a few one being a ginger jasmine tea brew on the way to California and a pomegranate ginger beer on the way back. My boyfriend got some killer birch beers and a strawberry creme soda that basically was like licking a strawberry shortcake doll. Remember the scented ones or the lip glosses? This is a popular quick mart stop for those usually passing from L.A. to Vegas and vice versa. We always come here to get lottery tickets. It's sort of a tradition in my family. Why not right? You're already going to test your luck in sin city. Haven't won the lottery yet though. You can pretty much get anything you need here as you would in a regular quick mart. Oh, and there's this press-a-penny machine right outside the door that I see how many people getting. I didn't know that the machine is so popular, but if you're not from the area, at least it'll give you a token to remember it by. read more

It's hot here. Just check the world's largest thermometer right next door. But once you overcome the heat when you get out of your wonderful air conditioned car, you quickly forget about the discomfort of the temperature as you step into this oasis of a store. Old fashioned candy.... they've got it. But not just memories from my childhood, cool stuff I've never seen before. I was so excited when I saw that they have Thanksgiving Gum Balls... sounds gross right? But my favorite holiday is Thanksgiving, and I always thought Willy Wonka should have designed a gumball that goes through all the tastes of the holiday dishes.. and low and behold, I own that gum! From nuts, to sweets, to old fashioned drinks, they've got it all. I guarantee you will not just stop to use the restroom without dropping at least 20.00. I'd recommend leaving the kids in the car, but you'd be arrested for that... too hot and too dangerous. But once kids step inside this candy wonderland, it's pretty much a surrender of parenthood. I'm pretty sure most of the traffic between LA & Las Vegas stops in Baker. I stopped in Baker my last trip out there on the way back to LA. Gas prices vary all over the place but the 76 gas station adjacent to this store seemed to be the cheapest in the area. We also needed to make a pit stop and buy some drinks for the road. You'll find a variety of things here... tons of different kinds of pop, and candy...two things I don't eat. I did pick up my sister a tin of candy in a sugar skull tin. It was $3.99 but I was ok spending it for a unique souvenir. Like others have mentioned... prices are a little steep here for a convenient store. Also, if you forgot a Vegas souvenir...you can pick one up here as well! The bathroom was clean though so that was a plus! read more

This place is really awesome and is now a permanent stop on our frequent LA-LV trips! Love this place!! It's clean and spacious and packed with an enormous variety of snacks and drinks. I'm really impressed that they carry Dang Butterscotch Root Beer, its creamy sweet deliciousness is addictive and so hard to find! They have more flavors of Pringles than I knew existed and my husband was so pleased to find a large array of corn nuts ha ha. When it comes to drinks they have all the usual suspects, and then all kinds of gourmet sodas, international goodies and a handful of hilarious options. The ladies at the registers are super attentive and quick. Oh and they also have a few lottery and scratcher machines too. This place is way better than the alien place down the street! I was super excited to try their string ice but i found out they stopped making those about a year ago. Cute little store on the way to Vegas or back? I have been stopping at this store since I was a kid with my parents and as an adult on my way to Vegas for 49 years!! It has always been a great last stop on the way out of Cali and/ first stop into Cali. For a drink, munchies and a winning lotto ticket! I WILL NEVER STOP HERE AGAIN!!!!! The store has changed ownership and the employees where incredibly rude! The selection of snack items and drinks is sadly deficient and twice the price it used to be. If I where desperate and they were the only restroom in town I would suffer until the next available restroom. It makes me sad to see a fun tradition for family and friends go by the wayside. They have a large selection of drinks, although I heard a gentleman with Diabetes complain about them not having Diet DrPepper. He stalked out saying that they should tell whomever stocks the back to order more diet soda, since there are people who cannot drink sugary drinks. The cashier, helpless, just says that it is unfortunate that they don't have Diet DrPepper. In my head, I'm thinking, "Drink WATER!" Anyway, this is a great pit stop. It's cheaper than the AMPM. They have a microwave, napkins, plastic utensils, scratcher machines for pre- and post-gamblers, and a large selection of snacks. Their bathroom always smells pleasantly clean, and they have my favorite soap fragrance, almond cherry. I know... who has a favorite soap fragrance? Well, now you know someone. Everything was overpriced (like 3x the normal cost). No Thanks! If I wanted Jerky, i'd go down the street to Alien Jerky!! This place is realitively new too, so i dont understand the whole Lotto thing people are talking about. #LOL. Fun little country store with a truly amazing selection of sodas! If that's what you're looking for, consider this a five star review. Myself, I was looking to grab a bottle of alcohol along with some sodas to mix up into cocktails in Vegas, thinking it might be cheaper than buying booze there. That would be incorrect, considering their alcohol selection is almost all OVER DOUBLE normal market prices. Since Las Vegas doesnt allow lotto or scratch tickets we ALWAYS stop here for them!! This place is a great place to stop and go peepee and buy some scratch tickets! I purchased 2 but alas didnt win! Its ok though! I haven't scratched a tickets in almost a year since I lived in Colorado!! They have yummy beef jerky and and the snack you could possibly want! The bathrooms are nice and dont smell like piss so thats def a plus!! The only thing that sucks is leaving and trying to get back on the road, its usually busy! Will def be back again! read more
