Now, I like aliens just as much as the next guy, but it was one of those places that I really had no reason to top of. But let me tell you, I am so glad that I did. In addition to having probably the largest selection of beef jerky next to buc-ee's, this place has more alien stuff than you can shake a stick at. Honestly, this place really does look like it belong on the Vegas strip with its big LED signs and alien motif all throughout the exterior. Additionally, they are in the process of building a UFO hotel. I'm going to tell you this. I will be there as one of the first guests in line when this thing opens up. Let's talk about the jerky for a second, they're not kidding when they say it's fresh. I have purchased multiple bags here on multiple occasions, and I got to tell you this is some of the best beef jerky you can ask for. It's super tasty, and not like that really nasty hard stuff you buy out of gas station convenience store, this stuff really is fresh. I don't know how to quantify alien fresh, but this jerky iis probably some of the best I've ever had. Tons of different flavors and heat levels for every person's taste. Bottom line? He didn't get the name of the lady that said she was not cooking any more food... but it was around 230-245pm on Saturday 12/27... absolutely ridiculous, especially since it is football season and mostly everyone is home and off work for the holidays... Yet another reason for me to absolutely hate Walmart! Maybe they should reevaluate some of their "policies" since Barstow is limited on resources !!

I had picked up a sheet with information on old Daggett from the Route 66 Museum in Barstow. Here's the short version. The original store burnt down in the Daggett fire of 1908. (the nearby buildings were also destroyed as well) But they rebuilt this place, and this became the first 'fire proof' building in the Mojave Desert. Fire proof due to the fact that the whole thing was re-built using a railroad carload of cement. (The roof too!) Back in the day, the place was one of few that exchanged gold dust and nuggets for cash that miners could spend. Later, in 1953, a safecracker got away with $1000.00 in gold dust and nuggets. But ya. Back over Columbus day weekend in 2017. I stopped in front of the place because it looked old. Then I read the paper and discovered it was actually old. Then I went in to buy a soda because it was kinda warm out. The guy behind the register was nice. The soda was cold. Boom. That's about how a convenience store run should be.

It offers many different types of meat and flavor options including Beef (Classic), Brisket (Classic), Turkey, Buffalo, Venison, Wild Boar. Most of these options will be available for purchase by weight or prepackaged and offer bold, sweet, spicy and savory options so there is something for everyone to enjoy. It's expensive, but worth it! All of the jerky was delicious and it lasted us several days. A lot of unique flavors to choose from and the store has so many creative options.
