Personally, I don't mind the 1-hour road trip to visit Country Store, which is also a 76 gas station. They carry some pretty cool beverages, candies, souvenirs, and even ice cream treats. You can't miss the fortune teller "Zoltar" at the door - his service is just $1. If you have extra time to spare, check out the World's Largest Thermometer and maybe pick up some Alien Jerky down the street. This is a little hideaway spot off the road in the perfect place for a restroom stop! Despite being late at night, it was still well-organized, neat and clean. There is a lot to window shop here - an added bonus while stretching your legs. So many sodas! You will see sodas you've never heard of... specialty brewed, artisanal options readily available. There's your standard souvenir items, but they have cute collections of dragons, gnomes, and unicorns, too. The snack selection is pretty decent- normal snacks, country style snacks, and even crazy snacks like candies with bugs in them. The soda varieties get pretty wild too. If you want to try corn soda, teriyaki beef jerky soda, or dino dung soda, this is the place to get it. Decided to take a little road trip and enjoy they views along the highway so we ended up in Baker at delightful hidden gem. This was the only convenience store that was open during these unprecedent times of the coronavirus. Upon entering he store right away their were guidelines of social distancing and standing 6 feet away from each other with red tape on the floor. To my surprise they had variety of items. In the middle of the store they had pails of candy. Towards the back wall you can pick any 6 of your soda pop which they had different flavors. Bathrooms are pretty clean and decent. I always try to stop off here on way to or back from California. I love all the novelty items they have in the store and the crazy soda flavors. I stopped here recently to show my kids the store because they had never been inside. We also were hungry and wanted to grab some snacks. My son and I both bought a hotdog. The taste seemed to be slightly off and I was hoping we wouldn't end up getting sick from it. My daughter bought a package of sushi looking gummies for almost $7 and over half the package was not edible because it was stale. I wanted them to try taffy but that was pretty hard as well. Was not impressed at all with the food so I'll never stop there for snacks again. We pulled into the gas station for some waters and before getting back on the highway and saw the sign icecream. Say what? It was too late to pull in so we had to drive down the road and turn around. Who says no to icecream? The soft serve ice cream is sooooo good. They have 4 flavors and a ton of toppings. I went with Vanilla topped with heath bar and chocolate syrup. Well worth my $4 and some change. They have a huge beef jerky section. I bought a small bag for $7.95. Self serve salt water taffy $4.95 for a small cup. Lots of drinks. Some pretty cool flavors too. They also have a small area for lottery and scratchers, which seem to be popular too as they have won multiple times at this location. My always must stop at on the way to Vegas. It's a great shop, old school looking. On the outside side wall is a mural with the map of California. I stop here for these reasons usually: 1. Bathroom stop 2. Soda Pop!! There are hundreds and hundreds of them!! 3. Novelty mints and energy drinks (they have so many varieties!) 4. Lotto tickets! Here you will find soda pop, novelty mints and novelty energy drinks that are hard to find anywhere else! Even if I don't always buy one, I love looking at them! If you find one with a character that you or someone else loves, buy it, because chances are you will not find them anywhere else! They also have a wide variety of lotto tickets, from the super lotto, to powerball, to all types of scratchers. However, I've been on very busy weekends before and most scratchers are sold out! They have bathrooms here which I always use. They try to keep the bathrooms as clean as possible... but sometimes people that use them are disgusting and disrespectful. In the woman's bathroom, there are 4 stalls and I've rarely had a long wait. Now they opened a frozen yogurt and smoothie bar. It opened late last year I believe. It's open 24/7 as is the store. Just call a worker over to get it for you if that's what you want. This store is located right in the heart of Baker about halfway between when you get off the exit and enter the freeway (the end) again on the way to Vegas. I'm a regular here and no trip to Vegas is complete without a stop here to and from Vegas! If you haven't stopped here on the Vegas to Vegas, it's a must stop! I am going to say this for the umpteenth time.........it DOES pay to read Yelp reviews. We stopped here on our way to Las Vegas because most everyone commented on having lucky winnings with playing the lottery and/or scratchers cards. Well, guess what......my two daughters, BOTH of whom were NOT going to come into the store while my husband and I did, decided to come inside anyway and played 2 scratchers cards (on my money, I'll add).........my oldest daughter won $200.00, and my younger daughter won $50.00. We were sooooooo excited, and it was quite the way to begin our trip to Las Vegas. Since we were about 2-3 hours ahead of my brother driving out, I texted him to make sure they stopped here, as well. He and his family all won nothing. I felt bad, but then again, neither my husband nor myself won anything, either. LOL We came back here on our way home a few days later, and we all won about $15.00 each. I won $35, but considering I put in $20, well, you do the math. :) It's truly about luck, but I have to say, it's worth the detour. So flash forward to our July trip coming home from Vegas and when the World's Largest thermometer displayed 119 degrees at 6:30pm, and we had finished everything in our car - or it had grown too warm to drink - the vision and sensation of a store full of ice cold sodas reeled us in! So this past Monday Jan.16th ( mlk birthday) around maybe 4:15 p.m - 4:30 p.m...I walked into this store. I bought a red bull, a small bag of chips and a few pieces of candy. A lady with long black hair rang up my items. I saw the total but didn't really think about it at the time. I believe it was $15.44. Anyhow while waiting on a receipt, i noticed she had turned away from the register and sort of kneeled down doing something. I didnt want to wait so I walked out. But upon getting ready to drive away I thought about what she charged me for the items and I thought to myself, there's no way these few items costed that much. It appeared to me I was overcharged. So I went back into the store and requested a receipt. She gave it to me, after looking at it, I realized she charged me $5.99 for a handful of candy that was only supposed to cost $3 and she also charged me $2 for lottery tickets that I did not purchase. Upon complaining. She looked at the receipt, refunded me what she owed me, with no argument as im sure she didnt want the other customers to hear what was going on. She brushed me off fairly quickly. As I was leaving it dawned on me that she turned away from the register to grab the lottery tickets that she charged me for. So this lady is overcharging customers purposely and useing customers money to buy her lottery tickets. The outrage I felt when I realized it. Ill be calling the owner tomorrow. Shame on this lady for stealing from people. read more

Hit the bathroom, grab your cone, wander the store looking at the various flavored sodas and gifts, then get back on your way. Convenient stop for me between So Cal and Vegas. Tons of snacks, drinks and tourist items. Obviously in the middle of nowhere prices are at a premium. $.99 box of Junior Mints is going to be about $2.40 here. Bathrooms are clean and it's a good last stop for lotto tickets if you don't want to deal with the Stateline. Parking lot is also large so if I have one of the pups with me it's a perfect spot for them to take a potty break as well. Cash only for lotto tickets. read more

Right off the 15 it's the 2nd exit once you get into Baker and easy to spot ;) You are graciously greeted on the outside immediately by old school decor and Lucky Lotto signs. Once you walk in, it's your run of the mill open floor plan market style liquor lotto store except the selection and back wall and decorations. So not so run of the mill I guess ? The largest Soda Pop Bottle collection I have seen in a while! Large beef jerry selection, fresh 1lb bag for $25 .. but I was there for the pit stop really and the lotto tickets! Would give 5 stars if it were not for the restroom. I mean what do expect for a highly trafficked restroom but dang, someone disrespected that bathroom with a terrible odor !! :/ I walked in could instantly smell it but more noticed the two workers fixing the urinal I def felt worse for them!! also, there was tagging all over the sink :/ SMH people don't deface other people's property have respect. .. But other than that, the lotto machine quickly made me happy again ;P two different machines, one older one scratchers only, the other one is newer with the code scanner so you can check your own tix get scratchers or play draw games ;) and the previous winners ticket copies are placed on the machines to show their luck! Also you can get quick picks/ personal numbers at the register, cash only for lotto tho you can use card for goods. Got some bomb Chicharones as well for the road.. Stop in for sure and check it out! We played small but kept winning and going back and forth from the car to scratch and into the store to reclaim and buy more. Peed our pants laughing. Best $10 ever spent.
