Saturday May 25, 2024 9:45am I when in Shell to buy something to snack on. I pick up Chickostick. Standing in line waiting to pay I look to my right and notice some Crazy Candy pick that up. The young lady ring up my stuff and I really didn't take notice of cost. She ask me if I wanted a receipt and I said no. My husband and I was walking out out of the store and my husband said did you hear what she said? I said she ask me if I wanted a receipt. My Husband said no she ask you if you wanted to tip her. Are you kidding me. I have hearing inpairment I am deaf on the left side and about 80%of hearing on my right ear. So I don't pick up what people say to me sometimes. when I got in my car I got a notfication on my phone from my bank My total of the snack was 14.00. Wait ! did she just give herself a tip. By the time I figure this out we were all ready on the road. I wanted to stop on the way back home but my husbamd did not make that stop for me. I going to try to deal with this. ZERO STARS!!! All the auto stops on their pumps are broken so they don't stop pumping when you're full. Gas starts spewing out of the tank and they won't do anything about it. We told the guy their pump was broken and he was like "okay yeah". He wouldn't refund us anything and just told us we should have been more aware. read more

Some of the truckers here were real jerks. We travel in a motor home with an enclosed trailer and are 65 ft long so when we stop overnight in truck stops when on the road. We parked all the way in the back to give the truckers their needed space. Some of the truckers made excessive wide turns in the dirt lot, coming within a few feet of the front of our rig and kicking up unnecessary dirt, as if we were in their way. If they truly needed to make that wide of a turn, they aren't very good drivers. The plus is that the burgers at Denny's across the street were DELICIOUS! read more

Wow, what a picky bunch! Yes the prices are high but they're there to make money. Put in two gallons and head south. If you're headed into Death Valley, well that's on you. Plan ahead people! Frankly the place isn't bad considering the high traffic they must get. Cleaning up after people at a gas station is a full time job all by itself. Was it spotless? No. Was it a pigsty as some places are? No. I was actually surprised how clean it is. All considered I'm going for 4 stars. In a less trafficked area I might be pickier, but not here. Worst customer service ever. The cashier an older Asian man was very rude and unprofessional. My nephew walked up to look at the model cars not even had touched it he runs over and starts scolding him telling not to touch it. I told him to go over and grab the one he wanted. I attempted put gas in my car (the pump said it was dispensing) got back in my vehicle and realized my gas gauge did not change. There was incline to weather at the time so I assumed maybe there could have been issues with the pump. The attendant told me his pumps are working just fine and it was my car's issue not the pump. I offered to go idle my car to prove it wasn't a delay in my gauge. I drove across the street to Valero and low and behold my gas gauge does work! I used one particular credit card ONCE at this gas station as we were passing through to get some road snacks. I had trouble using the pump.. I swiped my card and put my zip and the screen went back to the prompt screen as if nothing had processed. I went inside, asked for $15.00 on my pump since I was heading back to LA and wanted to top off my tank. I overestimated my rental's tank and only got to pump $11 and change so I went inside for a receipt and was told to hang on by the rude cashier. He finally said the rest would be refunded to my card and immediately ignored me after that. No receipt given. Just east of Alien Fresh Jerky in Baker, California is the town's Shell gas station. We pulled up to one of their pumps and swiped our Citi credit card as instructed on the pump display. After entering our billing ZIP code, the pump display came back with "see cashier". I usually do not want to see the cashier so I canceled my transaction and waited for the pump display to return to its welcoming messages. We left to get gas at another Baker station. About half an hour later while entering the Mojave National Preserve, we receive a call from the Citi Fraud Early Warning Division. They ask if we just made a $99. purchase at the Baker Shell station. We tell them the story and they square things; no Shell charges on the credit card bill when it arrives.
