Country Knives - My new Spyderco pocket knife. - Knife Sharpening Near Me - Intercourse, Pennsylvania

I found the Victorinox 250 at Country Knives on Wednesday and attempted to place an order through their website. No matter what I tried, the checkout process would not work properly. Out of curiosity, I tested the inventory system by adding 100,000 knives and then 200,000 knives to my cart. The website actually allowed me to proceed to checkout with 300,000 knives, despite the fact that only 1,776 of these knives were ever produced. At that point, I decided to call the store the following day to verify that the business was legitimate and that the item was actually in stock. I spoke with the owner, Dave, about purchasing two Victorinox 250 knives and was told there was a limit of one per customer. I explained that I needed two and was advised to place the order online instead. When I pointed out that the knife retails for around $125 everywhere else, while their website listed it for $175, I was essentially told to take it or leave it. I was informed that they had three in stock and that I could purchase one for $175 plus $12 shipping, bringing the total to $187 for a knife that normally sells for about $125 with free shipping. The website itself continued to be problematic. It would not allow me to register an account, forcing me to check out as a guest. When I finally managed to place the order, the system allowed me to purchase two knives, which I needed as Father's Day gifts. Despite paying nearly $100 above retail for the two knives, I completed the purchase. Three days later, instead of receiving my order, I received an email demanding additional verification. I was asked to provide either a bank statement or my driver's license, along with additional credit card verification information, before my order would be processed. I was expected to send this sensitive personal information by email. Despite my concerns, I provided a bank statement with all sensitive information redacted and again explained that I needed two knives. When I followed up with a phone call on Monday, I was told that two of the knives had already been sold and that only one remained. I was then informed that because I had not provided my driver's license, my order would be canceled. His exact response was: "You're not getting any. I'm canceling your order." He then hung up on me. From Thursday through Monday, I got my order canceled after being asked to provide sensitive personal information. If you want to be asked for highly sensitive personal and financial information, enough to have your identity stolen or get brank fraud going since all of your info out in open and have your order canceled, Dave with his Country Knife store has you covered. I know I am not coming back and WILL make sure everyone knows about this business practices! read more

Nice selection of quality knives and cutlery . I can't comment if prices are fair , as nothing is marked. I had every intention of walking out with a purchase , with no set price in mind .The fact that nothing is priced and the inventory is vast , makes selection difficult and experience unpleasant. Yes you can ask and they are willing to spend time with you . For me i'd rather search the store on my own until i'd find the one at the right price . Not sure i'll be back read more

Wide variety of literally any knife. Staff was very helpful, knowledgeable and fair. Fair, in the fact, that they did not push the most expensive items onto me. Has its own parking lot - no street parking. Overall very good experience, would highly recommend! read more

Photo says it all. Management response " As designated, the blade is not stainless steel (or stain-free) and is subject to corrosion and rust, best cleaned with kitchen cleanser to remove orange rust. Over time, use and food acids will patinate the blade to a dark blue-grey color which gives some protection against corrosive rust. That said, the blade is preforming as it should and regretfully not subject to return/warranty." read more

Huge, and I mean... Huge selection of items. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Very high quality items. Highly recommend shopping here. Was well worth the drive. read more

The selection of knives and cutlery is amazing. If they don't have it, you probably don't need it. The staff is well informed and knowledgeable about their product. They have plenty of price-friendly everyday knives as well as exotics and high end items. Overall, the prices are a little higher than some, but it's a small business with a huge inventory, so it doesn't bother me that charge a little more. read more

I would strongly recommend seeking knife services else where. I Have waited to write this review for sometime hoping the owner would do the right thing and he has not. I took two of my hunting knives to be sharpened at country knives. I called ahead to ask if they sharpen single bevel knives and they said they did so I dropped off the 2 knives one was a single bevel one was a double. When I went back to pick up the knives the staff took my single bevel buck brand knife and ground it into a double bevel and even ground the serration double bevel.(something you never do!) I had several emails back and fourth with the owner to no avail. I sent the knife back to Buck to see if they could repair what was done. Unfortunately, there was nothing they could do to undo what country knives did. After speaking to buck twice they could not believe someone in the knife industry would do that to a single bevel knife. After bringing the news to the owner he was less than remorseful. Below is my last correspondence I sent to owner. His response was that he has responded and that the matter is closed in his eyes. Hey Brian, I have been very cordial and understanding up until this point. The fact of the matter is still that I brought a single bevel knife in to be sharpened. Never was it expressed to me that your company would be changing the knife into a double bevel destroying the knifes integrity. As previously stated, numerous times I would have taken the knife elsewhere. You damaged my knife and your answer has been in short "Oh well". Here's a run down of the events that led to this to recap. I first phoned your business 2 days prior to me bringing it in to ask if you business sharpened single beveled knives and gut hooks. I spoke to you on the phone and you said yes here are the days we are doing sharpening to which I replied great ill bring it in tomorrow. I came into drop the knives off and the younger gentleman was the one who checked my knives in while the woman was helping another customer. You were not the one checking in my knife. The younger gentleman said "wow I haven't seen a Buck Knife like this before with the serration and gut hook". That should have been my first red flag. I said I would like the two knives sharpened he said okay. Never once in any of my conversations was there any talk of changing the bevel or knife design. You said you have sharpened tens of thousands of knives and everyone has been happy. Bucks Warranty department stated that whoever ground down the serration should not be handling knives. So that is where this conversation is. This is what you said prior to me sending the knife to buck. "That said, if you want to pursue having Buck restore the knife, kindly contact them and let me know what it will cost if are they willing to regrind and re-serrated the blade. We can discuss some reimbursement at that time" That time has come and unfortunately buck was not able to fix the damage you inflected so the reimbursement would be the cost of that knife or supply a replacement that buck was not able to match up a blank for. Replacement cost would be $300.00. I am willing to work with you on that but you did permanently alter and damage my knife. You took it upon yourself to not sharpen the knife as you were asked to do but to alter the blades design that is not sharpening that is altering. That you did on your own accord not my instruction. I don't know if whoever you had doing it wasn't paying attention that day or it was accident but it happened and I am not accepting of the result. Sincerely, Brett Hewlett read more

** GREAT FIND ** We saw the signs on the highway pointing to this place and thought "oh cool, knives by the Amish". Lets check it out since the Amish make things that last a lifetime. Well after finally finding this place, we walked in and theres no Amish people there! But we were immediately blown away by the selection of everything in the world that "cuts". Even nail clippers! Anything that has a sharp edge can be found here. The young gal who helped us (Brenna) was a treat in itself. Such a wonderfully articulate and KNOWLEDGABLE young lady. What a pleasure dealing with a sales person who has such in depth knowledge of "all things sharp" and every single brand and manufacturer, and theres tonsss of them there. The way she educates the customer, the way she imparts the knowledge is first class and easily understandable, even to novices like us. Anyway, we picked up a some kitchen knives knives, a sharpener, some accessories etc; these products are obviously real quality. Again, we were impressed. A few of the items we ordered never made it into our bag. Understandable, as we got there near closing time and got so into the "experience", that time just passed and passed and before you knew it, it was past closing time. Way past. Called a few days later to inform them that we forgot our steak knives; and as expected they sent them immediately and paid for priority mail shipping. Every interaction (by phone or in person) we had with Brenna, Brian and Dave was perfection. These people really know their stuff and are a real pleasure to deal with. I am now a forever customer. Simply stated, Country Knives Inc is a business you WANT to work with. Everything is first class. Every time. ** GREAT FIND ** HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ** read more

I originally contacted Country knives using my personal email, which uses my given name. I was Surprised that I didn't get a reply in 2 days. I decided to call and see if I could get a reply to my email. The owner of the store was very short with me and left a rather bad taste . I decided to go ahead and place an online order a couple days later. I used my business address , and my partner paid using her debit card. Her account was charged. 2 weeks later we had not received shipping notification. I emailed him today and he accused us of fraud , for using different names and too order and to pay He canceled the order and said it is not up for discussion read more

We were very excited to go to a knife store on our weekend trip. We were super impressed with this "hole in the wall" shop and their great selection. It is a good feeling giving small business's the business especially with everything going on. However, customer service was not their main priority. They were more worried about you wearing a mask and putting on hand sanitizer as soon as you come in. No other words were exchanged until I asked how they were doing today. Walked passed me and my wife several times never asking if we wanted to see something. It was kind of disappointing. A woman came in during our visit requesting knife sharpening. After she left they proceeded to mock her and talked about how she must have been using the knife so incorrectly because of how dull it was. read more

I've been collecting knifes for more than 15 years and have dealt with more dealers than I can count. Some dealers in this industry can be "shady" and take advantage of novice buyers, and I learned that the hard way many years ago. Country Knives, however, is one of the only dealers I go to now because of their honesty, professionalism and general respect for their clientele. They have a tremendous stock of knives, and the models I have interest in are priced very fairly. Their team is always willing to help answer questions because they believe, as do I, that if you treat a custom with respect they keep coming back. I've been a happy customer of Country Knives for years now and recommend to anyone that is a collector, looking for am every day carry knife, etc. to visit their online store or their storefront in Philadelphia if you happen to be in the area. This company is highly recommended! read more

On Brian's recommendation, I bought a nikiri knife here 4 years ago. It finally needed sharpening, which the manufacturer would have done for free, but I sent the knife back "home" for Brian's attention. BOY, Am I glad I did! My knife was sharpened and returned in a very quick "turn-around,' cost very little to sharpen, and is now even much sharper than it was when it was new. I got follow-up email, and felt comfortable and well served. If you love and respect knives, THIS is the place. I'll never have my knives sharpened anywhere else. read more

The rudest business owner I've dealt with yet. I had picked out a knife to purchase and was waiting for one of the sales associates to get my knife from the back. While we were waiting my 8 month pregnant wife desperately needed to use a restroom. We asked and they said no. Waited longer. Finally told them we were going to head down the road to find a restroom for her when another sales associate asked the owner again if my wife could use the bathroom while I awaited finishing up the transaction. The owner loudly said "NO". The sales associate said she would walk my wife back to the bathroom and again he emphatically said "NO". He also would not look at us while saying it even though we were right in front of him. Just amazed when business owners are that rude. Needless to say, I chose at that moment not to buy the knife. Nor will I ever set foot in that store or recommend it to anyone even though it's only an hour away from where I live. I mean we're talking about an 8 month pregnant woman and a paying customer.
