Unfortunately, each item had an issue. The field peas were so mushy that they practically turned into a purée when I tried to eat them with a fork. The greens were the complete opposite--they were extremely tough, and I found myself chewing them for several minutes. The flavor was also unusual and difficult to identify. The fried chicken was seasoned, but the seasoning seemed to be mostly on the skin. The meat itself was bland, and the chicken had a burnt taste while the skin was still undercooked. The cornbread muffin was probably the biggest disappointment. It was extremely hard, to the point that I was concerned about breaking a tooth. The picture really speaks for itself. I understand that an occasional meal may not turn out perfectly, so I'm willing to give this business another try. I sincerely hope this was just an off day and not representative of the quality they normally serve. I believe in supporting local businesses, but customers should also be able to expect good-quality food and consistency. Hopefully, my next experience will be much better.

We've had bbq, burgers and wings here and all were delicious. What I would like to see different about their hamburger is thinner patties. I like a restaurant that offers thin patties and you can get a single or a double. Both kinds of burger people are happy when you have that option. The beef is a bit thick for my taste, but it tastes good and has very fresh toppings. Crinkle cut fries could've used a little extra time in the hot oil today. Portions are generous. Prices are fair. They always have something sweet. The cakes aren't scratch but they are delicious and you can't beat a piece of frosted cake for less than $3. They always hit the spot after our meal. What really stands out in this place? In addition to good food, they are all incredibly friendly and this is the cleanest place to eat in Hazlehurst. Everything is well maintained and clean. I've heard so much about the barbecue in the south that it was hard to think about not going there, we had to go. It did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly. As usual, my wife and I shared our entrées and we could not find a problem with anything. We ultimately a sample plate of different barbecue meats. As you suspected, I ate more than she did. We did have apple fritters for dessert and they came out a little bit different than I suspected they would. An apple fritter that I'm familiar with is served like a large donut, these were donut holes. Tasty little bites that they custom-made for our order. The ambience is comfortable, but don't go expecting linens and glasses and a sit down experience, you order and they bring the tray of food to you when it's ready and life is good at that point. I pulled out my phone and showed her the listing, but she kept insisting it didn't say that. If the restaurant closes for a break between lunch and dinner, that is completely understandable. The problem was not the schedule. It was the way the information was communicated. The tone was dismissive and implied that I could not read what was clearly shown online. Customer service matters. A simple explanation, such as "We close the buffet at 2:30 and reopen later for dinner," would have been enough.
