I first went to the one in Denison and it was great. Went back and it was great again. Came to this location and was disappointed. I've been back a few times since and it never any better than "alright". The food quality and service are just no quite up to par for some reason. Cotton patch does a Scottish Rite Children's Hospital charity gift card program, which is so cool. If you're going to donate to a good cause SR is about as good a cause as it gets. read more

If I could give a negative star I would . Went to this restaurant last night got seated with my family. Waiting for 20 min and no one greeted us or came up to our table. They were not busy at all had about 8 servers in the back walking around. Multiple servers passing by us starring at us and no one comes to the table. We made eye contact with almost every server and still no one came up to us. Finally someone came and said your server will be right with y'all. 5 min pass still no one to come up for drinks or nothing. Me and my family decided to get up and leave since no one cared we were there. As we were leaving all the servers were in a group watching us leave . I went back inside by myself and asked for a manager. The manager could care less all he said was "we will work on that" and said nothing else. That is not a way to run a good business or any type of business at all. All the servers were just staring at us some were laughing just passing by and no one comes up it was ridiculous. Since moving to McKinney in June 2012, I have become a regular at McKinney's Cotton Patch Cafe. The food, service, and pricing is pretty much always excellent. However, on Sunday March 24th, at 4:30 pm I visited for an early dinner, it was a quite windy and cold day. Infact the wind was so strong it kept blowing open the entry door. The hostess was sweeping the carpet and continued for a period of time with me waiting to be seated. Upon finishing sweeping she seated me at a table closest to the entry door while many tables were setting vacant deeper in the cafe. The next group arrived and she also seated their group close to the entry. The Dad in the group looked over at me and shook his head as if to ask why. When my server took my order for turkey I requested extra cranberry sauce, well when the order came out guess what no cranberry sauce. I eventually got some sauce. Maybe two bites into the meal the server brought my check. Having been a regular for a period of time I know most of the servers, the hostess and server I didn't remember from before. I think they must be new hires. As a retired self-employed person having had service businesses for years, it appears to me that the orientation process for their new hires needs to address customer friendly practices to assure the company policies are black and white. I will continue to patroize this location, but I hope this day was just an abnormal occurrence. read more

We love the food at the Cotton Patch in Frisco so thought would enjoy the one in McKinney. My wife said her chicken and dumplings did not taste right. I had the Trailblazer. There should be something lower than one star. Service was terrible! We had to stand and wait for someone to seat us and not one employee would stay up front to welcome customers. The whole time we were there people were just standing there waiting to be seated. We could not get silverware and had to walk up front and ask. The food itself was terrible. It was like something you would get at a cheap all you can eat place. The roast beef was tough and hard to cut with a knife. Okra was fried into little rocks. The corn and green beans were soggy and nasty. All of the food was tasteless and looked like it had been under a heat lamp for hours. Stay away from this place!!! read more

Very disappointing experience at this location. After 10 minutes we had to go to the hostess stand and ask for a waitstaff to come to our table. It was about another 5 before someone finally arrived to take our drink orders. Took forever to get our food. Waitress was overwhelmed with the 2 tables she had and spent most of her time leaning against the prep area in plain sight. She informed us that our food was almost ready and that our appetizers would be out at the same time as our food... they got to keep the appetizers. We won't be back to this location. read more

The food was not near as good as it has been in the past. Grill was so dirty it left nasty black stripes on my chicken. They have started putting a huge amount of salt on the outside of the baked potato again. That might be one of the things that made it extremely hard. It did cause everything on my plate to have way to much salt. The staff was less than perfessional. This included being overly loud and profanity. This place has a very inexperienced staff. I put an order in for pick up they said it would be ready in 20 mins. Went to pick up the order for me and my children but no one new where it was or who took the call. No one apologized or cared. Dined on 8/1/2014 using credit card (unused in months); Credit card company called (9:00pm 8/2/2014)saying card was compromised 8/2/2014 attempting to make an unauthorized telephoned purchase of $540 in Florida). 8/3/2014, I called Cotton Patch Cafe and spoke with the manager, advising that the only time the credit card was out of possession was Friday 8/1/2014, when the waitress picked it up from the table for payment of the meal, to which he said thank you for telling me (not inquiring any further). I responded that "thank you is not good enough; don't you want the information to investigate?" to which he said (reluctantly) "okay" so I provided him the following information from the meal receipt: Receipt #1080 for $32.47, Date 08/01/14, 13:40 hours, Cotton Patch Cafe #840 Server- Keisha B. He said "thank you for calling" to which I responded "No; that is not good enough; I expect you to investigate, confront the waitress who took the card and cashier or other person, if a cashier or other person is involved and I expect to be briefed as to your findings of said investigation. His reply was a half-hearted "okay". I proceeded to give him my name & phone # advising that "I will be providing an honest report of this on Yelp.com, good or bad, and want to know when you will get back to me". Disappointingly, his response was "well, today is our busiest day, so some time toward the end of the week." I again said "That is not acceptable, I've already given you $32.47, a card was promptly compromised with an attempted $540 purchase, and now the card must be cancelled, and all you are concerned about is your busiest day and not a customer whose financial account has been violated, very possibly at your place of business? By the end of the week is the best you can do? How many other customers must have their cards compromised before it is considered important? I expect you to investigate and provide me your findings by Wednesday 8/6/2014", to which he agreed. I repeated (to confirm) that I could expect contact and a report from him by Wednesday and again he agreed. TODAY IS WEDNESDAY (10 DAYS LATER) AND STILL NO CONTACT FROM COTTON PATCH CAFE. I can only wonder who actually caused the grief and the forced cancellation of a credit card (?) ... was it the WAITRESS, was it the CASHIER or could it actually have been the MANAGER who was reluctant to investigate and who has FAILED TO FULFILL HIS PROMISE to investigate and contact me with his findings by 8/6/2014 or??? I'm not sure if our server was just a poor server or if he was new. He was very friendly but I just don't think he was server material. My friend and I ordered off the menu. She ordered the Chicken fields salad and I ordered the grilled shrimp. Our server asked us way to many questions for such a simple order. He asks me if I want the 4 or 8 shrimp. Um the menu says 8,but what the hay I'll eat light today and get the 4. The menu said it came with a side so I chose the loaded baked potato. When food was brought there was no potato. I ask the server. He says oh the 4 doesn't come with a side. Then why did you bother to ask me what side I wanted? We also ordered the fried green tomatoes appetizer. Oddly enough that came after our meal. I thought an appetizer comes before the meal not after. So when I got the bill I notice the server rang up a side of shrimp and a side salad for me. Hmmmm no wonder I didn't get that potato. Management should work on training the staff better. The food was okay nothing exceptional. Seems how my first time trying this place was not thst great of an experience I don't think I have a reason to come back. read more

Great food and usually good service, but it's like eating in the middle of a controlled mob. There are no acoustics, just wood and more wood, noise and more noise. Worst service ever the last three times we have eaten there. This last time I ordered chips and salsa and asked for fresher chopped jalapenos. I told the waitress not pickled however that's what she brought. Then I told her that's not what I wanted and could I get fresh and she says he has to speak to the manager. (Really for chopping a .10 item). Then she brings them after were done with the chips. Then I order the lettuce wedge and ask for extra blue cheese and guess what happened. She never brought it and then my son reminds her and she says "oh do you still want it" wow.... and then my son orders a bacon burger however it comes with no bacon. She says well have to cook some and five minutes later when his burger is cold she brings it. The whole the waitress has no idea she's doing a terrible job.
