Our food use to arrive not at our door however since last month we are lucky to get it even warm. So this week we picked up. That did not work the food was still cold.. This location has gone through many changes in the last few years. Some items on the menu are not what they were from years ago. The staff and management has turned over and was not very good. Went to Cottonpatch with my Gf and it looked nice and friendly. Got there and place was not packed at all only 3 tables were being served. Waited about 15 minutes and it seems like the host only came over to serve a larger party but we finally got seated, then proceeded to wait another 10 mins...not a big stickler on servers being on point at all times, but when you have 3 people past by us and not even ask for drinks if makes you feel a certain way . Also did not seemed understaff one bit you had servers and other employees chilling. Just wish I had an opportunity to try the food and give it a shot but oh well. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE! My wife and I have eaten here a bunch of times and the food is consistent and comforting. The chicken friend steak is tender and crunchy at the same time with gravy for dipping or smothering your choice lol. That's a debate for another day whether to dip or smother your fried steak. The friend mushrooms have been nice large mushrooms with a low batter ratio so you get more mushroom than batter. They are not greasy like other places. My wife loves the salads there they have always been fresh ingredients and flavorful with large portions. If you have the chance stop in and check them out...plan ahead though depending on the day and time they often have a wait to get in. read more

She apologized and then offered me another side. Well, I didn't really want to wait for another side, so she just said okay and walked away. So I asked her for something to accommodate me on that, being I only ate half, and unfortunately I said, maybe a couple bucks off, or half price, so she came back with $2 removed, and she said oh yeah, I'd expect that too. Ordered a meal 'to go' the other night. Fairly safe bets: steak, baked potato and broccoli. The sour cream was mixed in with the chives in a little to-go container. Halfway through the potato I noticed the chives had an unusual 'twang' to them that didn't taste right, but since it was mixed in with the sour cream I had trouble separating them out. Two hours later my stomach/intestines were painful and cramping and my abdomen ballooned up like it does when encountering food-borne bacteria. This made for a miserable evening and night. I called Cotton Patch that evening to report my symptoms to the manger but was left on hold for 25 mins. I called the next morning to report food-borne illness to the staff, so the manager called me later that day. He seemed pleasant until he heard my problem then his voice changed. I suspected the chives were not handled properly, maybe not refrigerated correctly. Chives are notorious for harboring Salmonella due to unsafe handling. He kept insisting that I did NOT have food-borne illness because no one else had reported it. He was defensive. He didn't seem to care about what happened to me or what I was saying. I suggested it might be safer to separate chives from sour cream in their kitchen packing going forward to give people the choice. Just some special considerations for to-go items. He was not receptive, and asked me, "What would you like me to do for you?" I said, "I'd like my money back". He quickly rejected reimbursement even though I had my receipt, but he offered me restaurant coupons. The idea of more food from that place didn't appeal me at all after food poisoning, my stomach still sore. He didn't seem to care about my customer satisfaction, the fact that I was a long-time customer, and I told him so. He sarcastically told me to have a great day. I won't be going back. During the pandemic, once they reopened for carry-out, I returned to support them, but the there was inconsistency in the temperature and flavor when I picked up. We were seated and waited for over 20 minutes without ever having anyone speak to us. This is not the first time this has happened and we keep trying as we understand that times are hard and everyone is short staffed. I have been a restaurant owner, so I get it, but it really should be a common practice to have someone at least greet the customer within the first few minutes and take a drink order. Communicate with the customers and let them know your under staffed or kitchen is backed up.... whatever the case may be. But to not even greet a group of 5 and keep them sitting for over 20 minutes is just not acceptable. And I said, this has not been the first time. Celebrated a friend's birthday here with a group of 8 on a Saturday evening. I realize the size of our group probably threw our server off, and she was trying the best she could. She mostly gave us decent customer service. The bread and rolls were fine - if you ask for a mixed basket, they'll also bring out cornbread, which was fine. Long island ice tea was a steal at $4 in a mason jar and was strong! My appetizer of fried green tomatoes came out about 2 minutes before entrees, which is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. I would have sent it back if I wasn't with a large group. They were decent tasting, although I make them better at home. The batter was super thick and super crunchy. It did come with probably 8 or so slices, which was a bigger serving than I expected for the price. I ordered the catfish basket (two fried fillets). Catfish was cooked well, if not just a little oily-tasting. Mac & cheese was terrible - don't do it. Didn't try the hushpuppies. I did try a friend's house salad which was surprisingly really good. She got the Dr. Pepper Chocolate Cake for her birthday (note, they do not have candles, but did comp the cake, which was nice). The cake sounds and looks good, but it is SO sugary sweet, no one could take more than one bite. Seriously, my teeth started crying. We used to love this restaurant, especially my wife. My wife wanted to eat there so the waitress in front said they were cleaning table for us, then for us to take a seat the time was about 6pm. When I arrived home to eat the steaks had been fried so hard that the breading was coming off and the beef was dark brown and hard as a rock. We each found 3-4 bites that we could actually chew. Most went in the trash. We are going to wait a good long time for them to recover from whatever staffing issues they are having before we return. I stood at the podium to get a seat with the "hostess" standing right in front of me. Never asked to help or asked to sit me. Another person walked by finally and asked if I had been helped. The hostess then decided to sit me after she told her to. After being seated I waited there for approximately 5+ minutes and not 1 person came to take my drink order or even say they would be back or acknowledgeme in any way. There were maybe 4 groups seated throughout the entire restaurant so it was not crowded. I finally just left without anyone ever coming to my table. I've wanted to visit Cotton Patch Cafe for a while now. Since I was babysitting three hungry girls, I thought, what better place to go to than this restaurant with the coolest name ever? I wasn't impressed. What we were served was more akin to cafeteria food (canned corn anyone?), and the host didn't seem very welcoming. Our server was also pretty dry--she seldom smiled and was a bit awkward with us. The kids ordered burgers and root beer floats, which looked pretty decent. Service was prompt, so we can't complain about that. I ordered a bowl of my favorite stew, chicken and dumplings, which was very small. I was super disappointed. The dumplings weren't dumplings but looked and tasted like a wide, chewy noodle and the chicken was amiss. The best part was the dining room itself, which was pretty rustic and cool-looking.
