It took forever to get our food. My husband's chicken came out burnt to a crisp but cold. I'm not sure how they managed to burn it, but serve it cold. My steamed vegetables were hard as a rock. Went to Cotton Patch on thursday evening and was really looking forward to writing a review of their catfish. I've had catfish at several locations and have always enjoyed it. Unfortunately, after being seated I sat around for about 15 minutes with none of the waitstaff showing the least bit inclination to actually wait on me. I didn't even get drink service. Chicken-Fried Steak and Chicken-Fried Chicken were great. The Steak was tender without being dry and undercooked. Absolutely no gristle or grease. Had gravy on the side to keep the steak crispy. The Chicken-Fried Chicken breast was perfectly cooked and juicy. The Baked Squash and Broccoli/Rice Casserole were good which I seasoned with on-table pepper grinder to suit my taste. Rolls are really in the top two in town. The only let-down in the whole meal was the green beans. Looked and tasted like out of a can. Will go back but will avoid the green beans. My husband and grandaughter frequent the Granbury Cotten Patch often. Usually good service. Today I chose delivery from Door dash . My orders of steak fingers arrived without gravy. I called the restaurant and the cashier told me they could not bring the gravy or compensate for the incomplete order. I asked to speak to the manager , and after being on hold for 25 minutes, hung up! On top of all, then there is there 5% extra fee they have talked on to their food. Placed an order by phone. Young lady sounded scattered, which was proved by getting an incorrect order. Took 20 minutes longer than told plus an extra 5 to fix the order. Not sure why because there were only 5 tables seated and more than ample staff to cover the entire restaurant plus take-out orders. When you're looking for good food in Granbury, it's often difficult to find good choices. Not because there aren't any (there are a handful), but because they're either closed when you want to go or they've gone out of business completely. Cotton Patch is our go-to. Yes, it's a chain, but the food is consistently good and so is the service. The staff is friendly, the prices are appropriate, and they're always open when you're hungry. We have been going to Cotton Patch for a long time. I haven't been in about a year. I went in with my wife and granddaughter. We waited at the door about three minutes before anyone acknowledged us. The restaurant was not busy as it was about 3;00 p.m. After being seated we waited about ten minutes with no service. I finally got the attention of an employee and asked if someone would take our order. about 5 minutes later the waitress came over. I had the all you can eat catfish, my wife ordered the chicken and dumpling and my granddaughter ordered the salmon. The dinner rolls looked like they just came out of a bag and sprayed with oil,The catfish was good, the chicken and dumplings was way too salted and tasted awful.The mac and cheeze was dry and hard. My wife felt sick after eating the dumplings. We were very disapointed as we have usually had grood service and good food. We are not likely to go back for a long time as this locations need better management and someone to check the food before it is delivered to the table. read more

Ordered the catfish platter and was surprised at the presentation and lack of fries, called a man over and pointed out the problem; wasn't pleased cause I wasn't his table? 10 minutes later an order of fries arrived. Will I come back? Nope. Is it because the food or our server? Nope. Can I give zero stars? Nope. Here's the problem. I ate an early lunch here one afternoon (my first and only meal that day) on our way into DFW. Around dinner time, I started to feel queasy, shortly after I was sick as a dog. Projectile. So bad that I had to go to Lake a Granbury Medical Center and was ADMITTED for an overnight stay. They did their tests and said that I indeed had food poisoning and e.coli!! .... A few days later, and after I was finally discharged WITH multiple medication prescriptions, I was feeling a TAD bit better and called their corporate to let them know. Their local store manager called me back (was very nice) and let me know that their insurance rep would be calling me soon... I then had to go to the hospital to obtain my records and then go to the UPS store to fax all of them over. It wasn't horribly expensive, but between my hospital co-pay, records, prescriptions and faxing about 100 pages to them, it adds up. Not to mention caring for my toddlers and was off work. About 2 weeks later I receive a letter from them...they said quote "since no one else had any issues that day, I simply must of had the flu." I never asked for anything from them...I just called to let them know of this. If it had been one of my two toddlers or my elderly father in law, things could have been much worse...Instead they made me sick, never apologized and basically called me a liar, even with medical records?! I still have my records and their lack of business letter to prove it. Do not eat here...whether now sanitary or not..that's just bad customer service. Our server started out great then got swamped and things went downhill real fast. I felt bad for her... she was way over-sat and seemed flustered. With that said, the food was incredible and quickly made up for our inexperienced server. The hot rolls were aaaamazing! The Granbury Cotton Patch has definitely gone downhill the past few months. I don't know if it's management, bad cooks or what. I've witnessed tables not getting waited on, we were one of them, getting bad food, also one of them, but was so captivated by the people calling out the manager and leaving with their tables covered in uneaten food or leaving before they even put their order in, that it was like a side show. One table of about 10 people got up and left after receiving only half of what they had ordered while the other guests just sat there. Management was called out on this one as well. I moved here a few months ago and we didn't have a cotton patch anywhere near where we used to live so I was excited to try it. The food here is actually really good and I love the king ranch chicken casserole but every single time I've come here there is always some kind of wait staff drama going on! We sat in a booth right across from where all the servers were and no one approached us for 15 minutes until I was looking over to see what was going on- the girls then argued amongst themselves about who would take our table. This place is super nasty, we came here for my moms birthday and it took AND HOUR for the food to get to our table. My mom got a baked potato and it was cold and so was my dads, my tilapia was not breaded right and it was nasty. My mom also got a steak and it was super small and it was really dry the meat. We don't frequent Cotton Patch often but we always enjoy it when we do! They have the best yeast rolls and whipped butter! Be careful not to eat too many though cause they can fill you up quickly! I ordered online at 3:15pm. Arrived, per instructions for CURBSIDE at 3:40pm and waited until 4pm before I went inside to pick up my order. Handed two cokes and while juggling the bag of food, two cokes in Styrofoam cups, my car keys and the car door, I dropped a coke. Went back inside to get another coke, and for 10 mins stood at the counter with 4 waitstaff ignoring me. He listened but then nothing was done for us on our ticket, not even a coupon for a future meal. We ate there about once a month but I guess that was the last time. Ok, I know the choices of restaurants in Granbury are limited - well, at least compared to Dallas. I once went to the Cotton Patch up in Frisco a few years ago and was not impressed. But it seems like 1 out of every 4 times I visit my parents in Granbury - they want to go to Cotton Patch. The only thing that I order now is the catfish basket - I have not liked anything else I have tried on the menu. My folks love the grilled Tilapia - but I have tried it and decided they just like it because they like to eat healthy. The service is very hit or miss - I don't think they hire anyone over the age of 17, so not unexpected. I will give this place two stars - not a place I would ever choose to eat at while in Dallas. read more

I'm a connoisseur of fine chicken fried steak.. I had been told that Cotton Patch made an excellent one, so I dropped in to Cotton Patch in Granbury on 377. The waitress was very nice and prompt. The meal came in a timely fashion and looked good at first. I cut into the steak, and the breading fell off about half the top of the steak. It took a while to cut through all the connective tissue to get a bite size chunk. I attempted to chew it but it was tough. I ate about half the steak (I was hungry) and called for the check. When the waitress asked how everything was, I told her the steak was tough. She apologized and laid down the ticket. No attempt to offer to give me a discount or call the manager. This is not the best restaurant I've ever been in but it is okay. Being a formula restaurant they try hard to do a good job on their food. Better than most. I particularly like the baskets. I often order the Shiner Bock fish or the shrimp baskets and they are pretty good. The service is almost always great and the wait staff are always friendly. Yes, I'll be back. It had been many years since I had visited a Cotton Patch Café. I was in Granbury for the weekend and needed comfort food for lunch. I ordered the chicken-fried steak. When I order food in a restaurant, I like to get things that I either won't or can't cook at home. That includes chicken-fried steak, because I won't fry anything at home. It wasn't the best I've ever had but it certainly wasn't the worst. The breading came off a little too easy, but it still brought me much needed comfort. By the way, the service was excellent. Our server brought me a fresh lemonade whenever my glass got down to half full. That's the kind of customer care that you don't see much anymore. Oh, and did I mention the warm dinner rolls? Stopped at Cotton Patch in Stephenville after a long day. MiKayla was our waitress and she was so nice and helpful. She made sure our drinks were refilled and that we were "caffeined up" to continue our trip. She was so kind and patient with our special needs son... We live in a small town.I get that. We do not have an abundance of Restaurants, therefore we settle for what we've got and do not complain much. It is obvious that the staff is not accustomed to hearing anything but "it is fine". I have been eating at Cotton Patch for 10 years. (5 in Midland and nearly 5 here in Granbury) The difference in locations is night and day. I usually do not say anything....just eat my meal and go, but it is not because everything is always good. I have learned to "settle", because we just do not have much to choose from. The catfish is usually fairly soggy (though it looks crispy), and more often than not, the food comes out cold. Tonight I ordered the fried Mashed Potato appetizers, Meat Loaf, baked potato and broccoli. The appetizers were excellent, but that was it. My entree was terrible! The baked potato was so cold it wouldn't melt the left over butter I had from my roll. The meat loaf was cold and fairly tasteless. The broccoli was YELLOW. I draw a line at yellow broccoli. I am not going to eat it. I sent it back and told the server if that was all they had, I would choose something else. The manager comes over and apologizes.Finally, my second round shows up, and you guessed it....yellow broccoli! Now anyone that has ever eaten, cooked, purchased or served yellow broccoli knows, or should know, that means it is not fresh...it is old. That is what happens to broccoli when it gets old....it turns yellow! Of course it was just dropped off in a dead run so I continue eating my meal before it is so cold I can't eat it. Finally my server comes back and asks how are things. I told her " I can't believe you brought me yellow broccoli a second time! Of course I meant "the restaurant brought me", since they all seem to help each other out and work all the tables together. She said " I didn't bring it"....OK, so you didn't personally bring it. She asked if I wanted something else. My meal was nearly finished by now, so I said no. The young manager shows up to ask how things were. I told him. He didn't realize it, but he "shushed" me while I was telling him. He obviously didn't want anyone else to hear. He asked if I wanted anything else. Well, NO, I was nearly through eating! Needless to say, my ticket/bill showed up fast with no offering of dessert. They wanted me out of there so they could go on pretending that their food is great. The manager's resolution was to deduct $1.99 from my bill. I paid the $16.00+, left a $5.00 tip and left without saying anything else. The challenge we have here is restaurants do not have to do any better. We will eat it, pay for it and probably go back without complaining.......we do not have many choices. Truth is, the food is not really great anywhere here. We have a few that are better than Cotton Patch, but not many. None of them try really hard with the exception of maybe Hoffbrau and sometimes the over-priced Eighteen Ninety (I wont get started on them). I love food, and I love to go out and eat. It gives me a break from the kitchen. It IS disheartening, to spend my hard earned money with restaurants who do not care enough to monitor the food coming out of the kitchen. NEVER IMPRESSED. Let's just start by saying the food is consistent (what food chain isn't). But the service we get EVERY time we go is a joke. The first time we waiting 20 minutes before getting drinks. The second time they gave us our food with no silverware to be found! We waited and even tried to wave down other staff and no one would look our way. Finally we got someone and she still didn't bring us any! We had to ask her again and finally got some when we asked a second staff member! The third time(and last time), they sat us and pretty sure they forgot about us. When a waitress finally came she took our orders and when the food came we had none of the condiments we asked for.
