I've eaten at this location many times and never had an issue. Today my husband, myself and two year old went for lunch and we ordered the chicken strips for her. I've attached a picture of how "cooked" her meal was. Luckily she didn't bite into it, but the more I think about it the nauseated it makes me that this is what my toddler was served. I do want to say that the waitress, and manager handled the situation professionally. They were very apologetic and offered to bring her new chicken strips ( which I declined and asked for Mac n cheese instead), and in the end they did comp her meal. While passing through Clovis at dinner time I checked the reviews on a local restaurants and this one was one of the highest. I went in and was sat immediately. My waitress Tamara was very attentive and easy to converse with. After quizzing her on a couple of the entrees she sold me on the chicken fried chicken. The portion of chicken was huge, the potatoes ample at just the right amount of veggies which was carrots zucchini and broccoli. She even brought me some extra gravy. Driving around, looking for a place to get fat and sassy. Quite happy we found this place. The service was fast, friendly and hyper-efficient. Chicken fried steak the size of your head and done to perfection. The sweet potato fries were ok but that's not the meals focus. You can hardly call this a hidden gem because it appears to be the place to go on Father's Day. We decided to go hereafter reading some of the reviews. We were not disappointed. Based on the reviews, I ordered Fish & Chip but substituted Onion Rings for the Fries. My wife ordered meatloaf. The fish was well prepared with near perfect crust. The same breading was used on the onion rings. Both were among the best I have eaten. My wife's meatloaf was good but she makes better meatloaf at home. Normally do not write reviews but we had a horrible experience Saturday night at Cotton Patch of Clovis, NM. First of all, the restaurant was really dirty, I understand busy night of the weekend. But there was a large puddle of water standing on the floor near the kitchen, looked like the ice machine was leaking? Well we were seated near this area. Took over 20 minutes for a waitress to take our order then it was over an hour wait for our food to arrive. I ordered ice water and a "bug" was floating in my glass (GROSS)!!! Sat inside for at least an hour while passing through for the server to offer togo drinks and ask what else we needed. We were stuck in Clovis due to a snowstorm, tired and hungry. Our hotel concierge recommended Cotton Patch Cafe to our family of 8 and we are so glad he did. The prices were great, it was family friendly with plenty of options to choose from on the menu. Everyone loved their food except the tortilla soup is not a real tortilla soup (more like veggie soup) and the chicken biscuit pot pie had a tad too much pepper in it. The burgers, however, were great as were the chicken strips too! The wait staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean (that's a biggie for me). Highly recommend! read more

I will start with the positive and unfortunately end on a negative note. Our waitress was excellent. She took our order quickly and kept checking on us to see if we needed refills on our drinks. She kept us updated on the status of our order. Not her fault but we did not receive our order until an hour later. We all had to return to work thus we had to take to-go boxes. The waitress was very apologetic. She comped our drinks and took 10% off our ticket. I wish I would have noticed her name so her manager would know she did a great job Now to the negative note, it took us an hour to receive our food. I understand lunch hours can be busy but restaurants also have to be to prepared to serve people that work and are on their lunch hours. I don't know if they need more kitchen employees or if their current kitchen employees are disorganized but there is no good reason for it to take an hour to get very basic meals to 3 people. Looking back we should have asked to speak to a manager. After receiving our food we were in a hurry to return back to work and did not have any time to spare. My son ordered the pumpkin pie off the menu, but the server apparently didn't know the restaurant was out of pie, so he changed his order to chips and salsa. The chips were obviously freshly fried - the one good thing, but ruined by the fact they were served with what appeared to be warehouse club bottled salsa (very clearly not fresh made). I have read glowing reviews for Cotton Patch in Clovis, but they don't match our experience. Things started off nicely. We were seated promptly (they were only moderately busy) for dinner. Our server was prompt with drinks and taking our order. Then we waited for our food. Our server came by with drink refills, we were still waiting. It was well over 30 minutes from the time we ordered until our food arrived, well most of it anyway. My wife's fried okra arrived as we were finishing up our meals. From there our server became hit-and-run. She would come by and ask if we needed something, then turn away before anyone had a chance to answer. When I noted the long wait for our food, she did get a discount from a manager on our bill; but a manager never visited our table nor apologized for the delay. This is definitely not a well run restaurant, at least during the dinner hours. read more
