Outdoor sports and activities are my favorite thing. I am an avid skier and ski instructor,…read morebackpacker, trail runner, horseback rider and driver, photographer, former raft guide, and aspiring climber and I think this store has the best rewards system in the business. When you make a purchase, you accrue points immediately (10% back unless it's a sale item), which is to say that if you buy a big thing first, the points you earn may cover the cost of the second thing you buy. No waiting until the end of the year, just immediate savings. It really inspires return business, which no doubt is the point. The store is not huge and therefore the selection could be greater for certain things (I'm looking at you, camp stoves), but what is available is well-curated. Also, the staff is friendly and helpful, parking is solid, and the area is serviced by the HOP bus, so it's easy to get to even if you aren't driving. I can't get everything here, but I will get as much as possible.

I really like this little store. Sure, we buy a bulk of our outdoors stuff at a bigger place but…read morethere is a different selection of certain sorts of items here that are always worth checking. I have found many things here, more unique in some way, a different and better color or size for me of something (very often athletic skirts) or a similar but better for me style of something (sunglasses) and other random stuff. They have a nice rewards program too so the prices are always competitive, even when bigger stores may be having a sales event. You earn dollar points and they always remind you when buying something that you have some and ask if you want to use them. I have earned some buying items online occasionally and did not even know I had them until offered at the checkout here. The staff is very relaxed and extremely helpful and friendly. There is a fun atmosphere you can see right at the door with their sidewalk placard that often has jokes or trivia. This is a small place but tightly packed with stock.

REI has been our go to for gear and seasonal casual clothes for decades, yes 4 decades! Even before…read morethey were in Boulder we would drive to Westminster which was the closest location back. Wisely they moved the North Metro location to Boulder. I know many of the staff on a first name basis and they never steer me wrong. My husband is the avid camper, hiker , adventurer, but I have been lucky to find xc skis here for years, to have my bike serviced here and most recently have bought much footwear and casual outdoor seasonal wear. What I was looking for today was not yet in stick for summer but I will look again next week when the spring/summer sale starts. With a membership there are so many perks so the savings are huge, especially kf you use their partner credit card. Even leaving empty handed today, it was a fun experience . And when my husband needs a new tent, no matter how small in comparison to this display today, he will get it here and at a good price for exceptional quality.

This location continues to decline in outdoor community vibe and customer service - perhaps it's…read moreREI all over? Although the Denver store is pretty decent, in my opinion. My 4 year old was peddling around on a bike, and since he's still learning to stop - was not able. The bearded bros came a running "no no he can't do that". I was waiting for the mace. Being grandiose but not too far off. Their panic was hilariously overzealous. Take pride in your job but brother - Your assistant daytime front end merch manager status equals zero power. Y'all need to chill the eff out. You're an outdoor gear store. Supposed to be a part of and embrace your community. There's a reason why people are turning in their memberships left and right. You're one step away from being in that Walmart level of stores. Sad. Adios- Chad, Kyle and Aspen.

Very well organized, you can clearly find what you're looking for if you come in on a mission! Definitely the best place in Boulder to buy or sell gear…read more I discovered BSR about a year ago and since then have bought and consigned lots of stuff there. When I take my old things there to put on consignment they are incredibly fair on the pricing and the people who work there are always friendly, knowledgeable, patient with me, and make it easy/enjoyable to do business with them. It's definitely the first place I go to shop for anything that's outdoor gear related. If you check out their website (that they frequently update) they list all of the different types of things that they are currently looking for people to bring in and put on consignment and you can check out some of the things that are for sale. A bonus for me is that they keep me out of the large/overpriced corporate outdoor gear stores plus I never have to deal with the hassle of listing things on Craigslist/Facebook Market Place and all the hassles that go along with that process. They definitely make my life easier and I feel lucky that they're part of our community.
