Initially after reading some of the reviews I was a little worried. I was using my American Homeshield warranty and you just never know who they will assign. We have had some good experiences with the warranty and we have had a couple of bad ones. My concerns started out with a four day delay in getting out to have my A/C looked at. Our air went out Friday morning and they were not able to see us until Monday. Then on Monday I had no time window to start the day. then it appeared that we were forgotten and given a 5-7 pm window. So saying I was concerned was understatement. In the end I have to report that Houston the tech was great ! He diagnosed the problem on Monday and before noon on Wednesday we had a new blower motor installed and a cool house. So yes, I would recommend Cote's Mechanical. Sometimes things happen but it is making it up and getting taken care of that matters. read more

So I have an annual maintenance agreement with Cote's after they installed my system four years ago. Last evening I noticed that the A/C was blowing air, but it didn't seem to be too cool and went outside and sure enough the outside unit was off. I've had this problem with my previous unit and it was a capacitor that failed. I called first thing this morning and because I have the maintenance agreement they bumped me to the head of the line and had someone out between 10-1 to fix. An easy 15 minute fix and the A/C was blowing cold air again. Thanks for the quick and courteous response to getting the A/C blowing again in these 100 degree temps!!! read more

We had Cote's Mechanical come and diagnose a problem with our AC systems, as they were diagnosing the problem they suggested to maybe get the air ducts clean, wish I said I will think about it. Later that day I open the vents myself and being that I live in a newer house I notice the ducts were very clean, so did not consider something I needed it anymore. Cotes was schedule to come and actually fix the problem they diagnose broken, when they call they said that they will be there between 1 and 3 and they did, they never told my wife who was the one who was there at the time that they were going to also clean the air ducts, later they ask my wife for $650, but she ask them who authorize the air duct work they keep saying that we did but was not true at all, they actually did not even fix the original problem with the excuse that they were given the wrong part. Lots of miscommunication between their techs and their management, but the customer should not be paying for services that we don't need, and BTW, they say they clean all the ducts in the downstairs but not true only a few rooms were clean. They threaten my wife with putting a lien on my house for service not paid but they didn't finish what they says they have done even we did not ask for the 1/2 service they claim they did. I have to say that I was extremely happy with their service till they did a service with out anyones approval, I hope this was just miscommunication and not something plan in advance. read more

Very disappointed by the service and the attitude! American Home Shield sent us to Cote's Mechanical for an AC unit that was not working. 4 days later, they came out and told us it was an easy fix. Then, they said they'd be back the next day to fix it. The next day, they called to say they couldn't come out and could we reschedule.... finally, 3 days later, they called to confirm they would be out that day - and they never showed up! We spent an entire afternoon and evening waiting for the tech to arrive - no call, no message, no courtesy of letting us know they weren't coming. The following day, the tech came out and said we needed a new coil and their recommendation was that we get a whole new AC unit. When we said, no, we will let the Home Warranty fix it, they advised us to not trust the Home Warranty company. Later, when we called the Warranty company to find out status of the parts that were supposed to be ordered for the coil, and we were told that Cote's had not submitted the diagnosis so no parts could be ordered. It's been almost 2 weeks since our AC problem was called in, and we still don't have a working AC unit. I have called American Home Shield 2x, and they have called Cote's 2x asking for the diagnosis so that parts can be ordered. Still waiting..... do yourself a favor and avoid this company! read more

I called so many times and they come and fix something and the tech said everything is fixed. after he leaves my ac is still blowing hot air.. the office people are very rude and keep arguing their side. I had to come many times during my office hours to fix the same issue. the office people don't care what you go thru. they don't apologize to the customers. they are coming again today to fix the same issue. the office manager is very rude and she won't let you talk and she is very rude to the customers. The tech is nice but he needs to follow the process. once he fix something, he does not go inside to check the ac to see if it's really working or not. read more

All I can say about this company is BUYER BEWARE!!!! Like another poster, we had intense discussions with the office staff. Ours was a Home Warranty repair. (see my other review under Cote;s other address on YELP. I ran out of characters and had to split it into two parts and Yelp only allows 1 review per business) For Home Warranty Company (HWC) issues in general: I suggest that you get someone to certify that you have no material code violations before the HWC Contractor comes to your house and show that to the HWC Contractor when they come to visit. If they can't "write you up for code violations", then they might try to tell you that the system wasn't maintained properly. If so, the Home Warranty company won't pay anything. Keep all records of HVAC inspections you get and use them in Small Claims Court if you are denied the claim on a maintenance issue. Truth is, most of us don't have documentation so this is a cash cow for the HWC. Home Warranties and their vendors appear to be complicit and you will be the loser. Example: Home Warranty companies tell new customers that they don't need to get equipment inspected prior to purchasing the warranty. That sounds great BUT the truth is that they don't want a prior inspection that you can use to refute them when they tell you that you had "issues" before you bought their warranty. They have protected themselves in the small print for these issues. Find "improper maintenance" in the small print. Also, take photos of your system prior to the installation and then compare them to the "after installation" and see if they actually corrected "code violations" they required you to pay for. Measure any "Box" that must be enlarged according to their assessment and then measure again after the installation to see if the new box was actually "enlarged". Nicole, you can report any HVAC licensee to their Licensing Agency if they violate their license and also go to County Small Claims court for remuneration. (rather than saying "told a lie")" and any others that might be appropriate for your situation Be sure to present documentation with facts and make no emotional statements. I believe the word on this company that has no moral or ethics is a necessity. I hope this may save someone's life! Here is my very condensed story... My A/C broke at the start of the Texas hot season. I have a home warranty through American Home Shield. I contacted them asking for service on my A/C they sent Cote's Mechanical who after 4 visits said it was my coil. When they called to set my appointment up they said "oh by they way you have $800 in code violations" WHAT!! After 3 days of begging for an explanation and never getting one and the research I could do myself being untrained in the art of HVAC and feeling held hostage in the 102 degree weather I agreed to a reduced amount of $700. Only reduced because I had carbon monoxide detectors. Cote's Mechanical came out to fix my problem only to have 4 more failures in the last 45 days. I finally was able to get approval for a 2nd opinion through American Home Shield on Monday. I have attached a video of the upgrade work to get my system to "code". I never needed the very expensive coil, the code upgrades were absolutely fictitious and NOT code at all and as you can see their lack of knowledge put my family at great risk of harm or worse. The video is of the upgraded gas line running into my furnace that was intentionally left turned off at the valve... I can only imagine what would have happened if one cold night we lit the pilot! Please share this even if they don't live in Texas they may know someone who does!... This site does not allow video but what is showed was a everlasting flame coming from the fitting going into my furnace. Please don't put your family in jeopardy! CALL ANYONE ELSE!!! read more

I had American Home Shield as a home warranty provider, they sent out Cotes (technician was a New Yorker named Bill) when my AC was not working (June 2017). Our system was frozen and Bill said he'd come back the next day once it was thawed. I said I've had numerous issues with this system and wanted a replacement so Cote's dad sent me quotes on a replacement. The next day Bill came back to give an assessment and ask about replacing the system. I told him their price was double other quotes and I was going elsewhere. Bill said, "I could tell American Home Shield nothing is wrong and you would be screwed, but I'm not that type of guy" he said my coil needed to be replaced and the system was in poor shape. (Who would ever say that to a customer!!!!) Low and behold Cotes/Bill told American Home Shield nothing was wrong with my system IN NOVEMBER!!!!!! I guess they didn't get the diagnosis submitted in back in June. I have email from Cote's dad quoting me a new system, and Bill is an "honest" guy, right!!!!! Crooks! read more

We have a warranty company that dispatched cote's to our home for an issue with our central air unit. First guy mis diagnosed the issue 3 times before using his gauges to determine that the system was low on refrigerant. Found a leaking Schraeder valve on the suction side near the compressor. Replaced the valve and charged us $325.00 for freon. 22 days later the system went out again, I spoke with Rebecca and requested that they send a different tech. She told me that she would an senior tech and she was apologetic in the fact that Jeff was not professional. Wife takes off from work to meet new guy and he shows up on a truck with no tools and clearly not ready to repair my unit. He determines that we are not going to just buy a new Ac and sends another guy. 3rd guy shows up and finds a large leak at the compressor on the copper. Makes a repair and the unit worked for 7 days then stopped again. Same senior tech shows up ( I take of work ) to assess the issue and said that the Jeff messed up and didn't back seat a valve and it leaked all the freon out( seems fishy) fills it up and leaves. 2 days later the unit stops working again and he comes back ( wife takes off work ) he tells my wife that he rigged the unit last time and his ghetto repair didn't hold. He says he's going to order the part and be back on Monday, so Tuesday he shows up and replaces the valve. I stopped by and asked him to record the values and supply me with all the previous invoices that he has never provided for us. This repair LASTED 6 HOURS. Our warranty company agrees to send someone else and ( wife takes off another day) and he finds the leak in the coils within 20 minutes in the inside unit. This company has pumped numerous pounds of toxic freon in my house. To think that the state has allowed these guys to obtain and hold a license is amazing. read more

We had so many issues while working with Cote's Mechanical A/C company that I can't even list them all. To sum it up..we just purchased a home that has 3 A/C units. When we bought our home, only one of our A/C units was not working. For reference purposes, we will call that particular unit, unit A. They came out to look at unit A and told us we had a leak in the coil. We arranged for them to come out and replace the coil. They came out a few days later and put in the new coil and to service the A/C unit. The following day Unit A was only blowing out hot air and was not cooling at all. So we called and had them come out again. They recharged it and again, we had cool air for about 1 day and then it would stop working. While they were there I had them check our Honeywell Focus Pro 6000 TH6220D1028 thermostats. They said that 2 of our Honeywell thermostats were not working and they replaced 2 of them with Two (2) Seabreeze TPS12X thermostats. When they did this our A/C unit that controls the kitchen and living areas (I will call this Unit B) would not turn off. I turned the thermostat completely off and it would still keep running. We ended up pulling the breaker. A few days later, Cote's sent out the technician to look at it. He told us they would have to rip out our wall and completely rewire the system. It wasn't doing this until they replaced our thermostats with the 2 Seabreeze TPS12X thermostats. When we did research on the SeaBreeze thermostats we found out what poor ratings they got, we requested for them to replace the SeaBreeze thermostats with comparable Honeywell Thermostats that were originally in the home instead of the low end Seabreeze thermostats. They refused and walked off the job...this was in the middle of the summer in Texas. Working with this company was extremely frustrating as they were very defensive as we caught them in several lies. They would not reply to any emails we sent, I am assuming because they did not want any documentation of the lack of customer service they provided. We went 3 weeks trying to work things out on our own with this company. Going for 3 weeks with only 1 working AC unit trying to cool our entire house was quite frustrating. What was the most frustrating was the fact that they walked off the job and left us high and dry with wires unplugged in our attic. We ended up having another company come out and look at the problems. They replaced all of our thermostats with White Roger thermostats. The Problem with Unit B was resolved immediately confirming that the thermostat was the problem and not the wiring. Unit A was misdiagnosed by Cote's Mechanical. Our Condenser was not working properly and therefore needed to be replaced. Because our old unit was a 10 seer, the coil that Cote's mechanical installed was useless to us. We paid over $900.00 for a coil that we had no use for since you can no longer buy a 10 seer unit. And we had to buy another coil to go with our new 13 seer condenser. When the 2nd A/C company came out, the installers told us the coil Cote's put in was not a new coil and looked to be refurbished. I to give them an opportunity to make this right contacted Cote's directly yesterday with us and asked for them to reimburse us for the coil that we had no use for. They declined to make things better for us and again treated me very poorly. The 2nd company with in 1 day had all three of our A/C units working great and were very honest with us. It just confirmed that Cote's was in the wrong. To sum this up, I am very upset with the fact that we had to go so long with out A/C, were lied to, problems were misdiagnosed and they made absolutely no effort to make things better for us. The main purpose for me writing this review is to let other consumers know what we ran into with this company. I would hate for anyone else to have to deal with the problems we dealt with. read more

Stay away. Tried to send me a list of required code upgrades in addition to fixing the problem. Ran the list of upgrades by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation who told me the claims were false and the code sections referenced were false. The agent at the TDLR called Cotes on the carpet. Cotes had to back down and just fix the required elments covered under my home warranty. They installed a new mother board and 4 months later when I needed heat it errored out. Tried to call Cotes and tell them is was so apparent that the board was not installed properly (just common sense), however, they were jerks about sending someone out (heard on of the ladies in the office yell at the lady talking to me "just get off the phone with him". Called home warranty and told them about the service so they arranged for another company to come fix at no charge. The other company just left after switching two wires - Cotes had the polarity wrong on the new mother board. Wow, shocker that the mother board was not install right. The new repairman said that Cotes knew it was not working as the error messages would have been blinking when they turned the unit on. read more
