Hands down the only company I trust with my heating and air conditioning, both from a maintenance and new install perspective!

I'll start with the positives: our AC is cooling again, and the technician was prompt, courteous, and professional. If this review were only about the onsite work, it would be higher. My concern is the high price and how the company responded when I asked for transparency. The tech diagnosed a failed capacitor and a faulty liquid-line pressure switch. We paid $1,233 total: $89 Service call + 269 Capacitor replacement + $875 Liquid-line pressure switch replacement. The $875 line item is what prompted this review. To get the part, the technician drove to Carrollton for an OEM switch. The drive, pickup, and install took about two hours total. While they were procuring the part, I did some research. An OEM switch of this type retails for about $50-$150, and a typical all-in price for this repair is around $300-$450. At $875, even valuing the part generously at $300, that leaves $575 for two hours of labor -- nearly $290/hour, on top of the separate $89 service call. That's well above standard rates. What bothered me most: before I paid, I called the office and asked for a breakdown of the $875 price. The rep declined to itemize, said the rate was "industry standard" (it's not), and dismissed my questions. I paid the invoice promptly, but deciding to urgently fix your AC in Texas heat is not the same as being clear on if what you're paying is reasonable. Net net, I should've done due diligence on the quote and I paid the price for it (literally). I originally called Calvin's for help because it seemed to have a good reputation with pricing and doing right by the customer, but their refusal to explain why I was charged 2x benchmarks makes me feel like I was overcharged. My advice to future customers: do your due diligence and benchmark the quote before you authorize the work. Flat rate pricing shouldn't absolve a company from telling you what you're paying for exactly. read more

The journey to update our master bedroom air conditioning began 2.5 months ago and involved quotes from multiple hvac contractors. For those who haven't been thru the process don't assume what your told is always correct. Sometimes additional work is necessary to correct the issue completely rather then leaving most things as is and just changing the HVAC system - a quick swap of the outdoor unit is less work for a company to turn a quick profit In the end Calvin brought years of knowledge, professionalism and interest in correcting our cooling issue far beyond what others companies wanted to invest. The team showed up early each day and worked well into the evening. In addition they kept noise to a minimum and were polite and respectful. On the final day of the job Calvin was thrown a curve ball as part of the new equipment was defective. Even though a new job at another home had begun Calvin didnt leave ours until all issues were rectified and the new system was fully operational - he ( the owner of the company ) personally owned our job for another 3 hrs to fix the unforseen issue and complete it. I was fully at ease with Calvin and his crew working in our home and I'm pleased to say I've found a first class HVAC team to handle my heating and cooling needs and recommend you consider them when your needs arise too read more

I have had Calvin come out several years ago for an AC issue. They fixed it on the spot for a blown fuse. Very fast respose time. This last repair was a big job. system was 22 years old and had to be replaced. Very happy with the work. Staff on time and profesional. No up sell. Calvin comes buy and makes it clear. We have been having a/c issues since we bought our house in March of 2019. Gone through a handful of hvac companies and repair men, thousands of dollars worth of replacements, parts, labor etc. we were recommended Calvin's through my uncle who has used him for years, and WOW! Calvin is the best!!!! We called and he was super fast to come out and give us a quote. We needed a new air conditioning system in the worst way. Calvin was honest with us and gave us an honest opinion about the systems. We could tell he honestly wanted what was best for us and the house. His prices were reasonable and he was more than willing to help us out price wise. We bought our own nests beforehand so he took off the price of the nests from our final bill. He was more than willing to work with us in any way possible. The day of the install, his guys put in 10+ hours worth of work so they'd only have to inconvenience us for one day. The work was thorough and Calvin's men were super clean. The nest downstairs wasn't working the night of the install. Calvin apologized incessantly and came out the very next morning to fix it. Simple fix. He's so nice and quick. His work is top of grade. Five stars well earned. This company is the real deal! read more

Calvin's Climate was pleasant to work with but very expensive. Angela was very efficient scheduling the appointment. Bruno the Technician was on time and very knowledgeable. Paid $511.00 to have a fan motor replaced in a Goodman condenser. That price includes a $79 service call. I think the amount is excessive. The parts cost less than $130.00. Bruno was at the job site just under 1.5 hours. Calvin's Climate offered no discounts including no senior citizen discount. If desperate, would use Calvin's Climate again, but they would not be my first choice. read more

My unit was older and struggling so got a referral from a friend to call Calvin's. They came out, gave a full diagnosis of what the problem was and gave us the recommendation. We ended up getting a whole new system and has worked great. We had an issue a few months later where Calvin came out at 8pm on a Friday night to figure out the problem. Fixed it and was on his way. Moving into a town where we didn't know a lot about different companies, they made it seamless and trust them with any of our HVAC needs. Recommend that 1000%. What an awesome company! Calvin is top notch and I cannot sing his praises enough! As an attempt, though, I want to provide a back story to show just how great he and his company are! We recently moved into the area and was very surprised when we discovered that our two Carrier HVAC units had a 10 year extended warranty that was purchased by the previous owner of the home and transferred to us when we purchased. During the summer of 2014, we had numerous problems with both units that resulted in us continuing the relationship the previous owner had with a local, large, big box HVAC company that tries to specialize in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and security systems. Additionally, they feel they can adequately service a 50+ mile radius of the metroplex. The name of the company is A#1. We encountered numerous service calls in 2014 that finally resulted in the coils being replaced in both units. During this time, A#1 honored the warranty and we there were no out-of-pocket expsenses. Even though I was frustrated at the incompetence in diagnosing the problems and the delays with part orders, etc., I figured they could come out as many times as they wanted since it was on their dime. The straw that broke the camel's back, though, was a cocky coil repairman from A#1 who thought he was God's gift to the world (he bragged that he was the ONLY person there who did coils at the company....really? one of the largest HVAC companies in DFW and you're the only person who can do a coil, eh?). His utter incompetence eventually caused our kitchen ceiling to fall in from his coil replacement and failure to reconnect and properly plumb in the drainage line. After that mess, I demanded to speak to their service manager who ultimately had our ceiling repaired and threw in some maintenance visits as a gesture of goodwill. Trying to get through the phone trees, multiple people answering the phone, and navigating through the mess was extremely frustrating and made it appear that they didn't want management to speak to customers who had bad experiences. Same problems started occurring in 2015 - during the maintenance visits, I felt like we were getting taken advantage of since the units always needed refrigerant. If the unit was leaking, it was because they could not fix it properly! The final, last straw was when I called for service early in the 2015 cooling season because the unit was not cooling, despite having paid for a spring maintenance a few months earlier, and they tried to charge me a service call fee when they had never done so before (the warranty was 100% parts and 100% labor - they were trying to milk a service fee out of me for more money). A#1 is too big and tries to be everything to everyone is every place of the metroplex. I was done. I did a lot of research and made many phone calls and stumbled across Calvin, who is an authorized Carrier repair facility. I called and his delightful wife took her time to answer all my questions, many of which were very specific and unique. Ultimately, I scheduled someone to come out and perform our winter maintenance last fall. Calvin himself showed up! He took the time to fully explain his services, talked to me about the units, and was EXTREMELY knowledgeable. He found a couple of residual issues that A#1 had sloppily left and fixed those for us. Talk about great customer service! It is so refreshing and nice to do business with a company who respects their customer and takes the time to answer their questions and provide excellent customer service. I am thoroughly impressed with how they do business and that they realize they can provide much better service by specializing only in one area of expertise and one geographic area. Calvin is truly a God send and I am absolutely excited to transfer the remainder of our extended warranty over to his business and have his team take care of all future HVAC needs. Calvin was very friendly and explained everything. He suggested I replace a contactor (or something) in the outdoor unit or he could just replace a burnt wire but warned that it may need to be replaced in a year or so. I liked being presented with options. read more

Calvin is knowledgeable, informative, friendly and beat prices on previous a/c service companies. Calvin assessed the problem, told me what was likely to occur with my unit, but allowed me to weigh the costs and risks and decide on course of action. The phase out of R22 has caused horrible price increases so Calvin actually weighs the freon and charges for only what was used, not a service mans best guess charge as with other companies.
