Ok, so I wouldn't usually go to Côte for dinner, just because I would prefer to find an independent French place if that was what I wanted in London.
But due to geographical requirement, I found myself calling on Côte as a reliable chain.
We started with calamari, chicken liver parfait and asparagus. The parfait was excellent, the calamari was fresh & served with home-made tartare sauce. The hollandaise was home-made and tasty.
For mains, we had prawn gratinee and sourdough, duck, ribeye steak and fish stew. Duck was alittle overcooked, there wasn't quite enough of the potato gratin but the watercress garnish was welcomed.
The ribeye steak was OK, bearnaise was good. The prawn gratinee was overcooked and had too much breadcrumb topping compared to prawn. The fish stew didn't have a super deep flavour. The green beans and creamed spinach sides were both fine and of decent portion size.
Overall, despite my gripes, the experience was good, food was generally good, I'm just fussy with my above comments. It was well presented, decent value and the service was attentive, drinks were refreshed and water filled. The decor of restaurant was cute and they even have an outdoor dining area.
Overall, I would still consider Côte a reliable chain, just not somewhere I would run to in London. read more
