I was definitely persuaded by these reviews - and now will question every business that has 5 star reviews. Do your homework and don't be fooled. Project took much longer than what it should have because they were disorganized and would forget certain things (the foreman would even admit that the PM should have told me certain things!) that I would have imagined a contractor had down pat in terms of sequencing. They use some subcontractors and you are at the mercy of their schedules. They just are not organized (you will do a lot of the reminding, checking in, following up, and certain things still may not happen). They failed inspections meaning more cost (it is their job to pass these! It says this in any contract!) If it seemed as though I was questioning something, the PM got defensive and sometimes unprofessional, gaslighting me in a very aggressive manner. I saved the communication, in fact. The people I worked with directly were young and it showed in the almost-too-casual style of communication and lack of professionalism. I surrendered towards the end and just wanted the project done and everyone gone. I feel completely foolish that I went with the significantly higher estimate thinking it would offer a smooth, superior experience. The actual people who did the work worked hard though and did nice work - hence the two stars. But at the end of the day, it's actually hard to enjoy the work as I am reminded by the months of bad experiences - up to the very end. You can find more experienced contractors out there for equal quality of workmanship and for a more competitive price. I am using a different contractor now for other work at the property - it's a 180 degree difference - they have a dedicated team for my project, meaning time to completion is more accurate and on time; they have a dedicated person to procure the finishes and fixtures, not myself; they are way more organized and even provided me a timeline of what to expect and communicate with me what time they are showing up and what progress was made that day (!!); they are bringing a truly expert eye with attention to detail that ELEVATES the space and are teaching me to ask things I didn't even know I should KNOW to ask; and most importantly, I feel truly comfortable asking questions without defensiveness and aggressive steamrolling in their answers. I received none of this level of care or expertise with MHR, and I want you to know that you should expect these things!!!

This makes no sense because we just want to get a ballpark to see if it's even make sense to continue. But anyway, on the date of the site visit, the guy come without any tool for measurements and for note taking. The guy just spent like 20 mins walking around the house and said he will get back to us with a quote. But I never hear back from them since. I think the company is very picky on clients and like to see if they have enough money to pay for their service. If they think we cannot afford it, they will just cut all the communications. Some were more complex (e.g. the installation of a shower kit to convert our clawfoot tub to a shower and the construction of a storage space below our house). Some of the projects were simpler (e.g. replacing old electrical outlets, hanging artwork, replacing doorknobs, installing hooks/shelves). Osvaldo and his crew did all of our projects, large and small, with impeccable craftsmanship! The process started with an onsite walkthrough of our projects. Osvaldo gave us a detailed estimate and was communicative throughout. The day of our project work, the crew came early and ready to work. They were very careful to prep the work areas to protect our home. They worked efficiently and came back the next day to ensure everything was perfect with finishing touches. Osvaldo and team went above and beyond -- laying concrete to even out our storage space floor and adding vents. Osvaldo even sent a cleaning crew to clean our house after the project. Just a fantastic overall experience! Thank you, Osvaldo!

I (regretfully) did not end up moving forward with them on this project, but wanted to write a review because I was so thoroughly impressed with my interactions with Doron. Doron was the first contractor that I spoke with about my project, and was by far the best experience that I had. He took the time to really look at my space, listened to my needs and specific requests, and gave great suggestions on how I could improve it. After taking measurements he sat down with me for over an hour patiently answering all of my questions. This was my first time considering a major remodel and he was great at anticipating where I would need guidance. He also showed me various completed projects in his portfolio and I was so impressed with the quality of his work. I could tell that he really takes pride in his team and his craftsmanship. Doron was able to provide me with an initial quote on the same day as our consultation. I ended up with further questions and changes, and he graciously set up a zoom call with me to address them the following day. Out of all the contractors that I spoke with, Doron stuck out for being the most passionate about his work and also the most detail oriented. I really appreciated his honesty with me about what I could reasonably expect. As this was my first project, I didn't have a good idea on what to expect regarding costs. I didn't end up moving forward with Method Remodeling because of my budget, but would love to work with them in the future when I am better established.

It's everything around that which was challenging. When they originally came to scope the project out we explicitly talked about some extra things - but then at the end of the job they said they actually weren't in scope and wanted me to pay extra. Then, when I held back on paying the final bill until that was resolved, they unwarned put a mechanic's lien on our house. Also I'm nervous about their billing setup generally - it got hacked last year and I almost got scammed out of $11k. And during the job itself, they had to take the crew off of our job for an "emergency" somewhere else, leaving a big gap where there wasn't any progress while we had an active construction site at our house. I understand some level of scheduling issues but this was really frustrating. So overall, I'd say all of this put a really bad taste in my mouth, and I'd be really torn on whether to work with them again. The work was tremendous but I can live without surprise interruptions and liens on my house.
