Chopped onions are back at the food court!!! If you order a hotdog at the food court, be sure to ask for the chopped onions. They are absolutely delicious on that hot dog. This is a moderate size Costco, with a parking lot that gets full on the weekends. There's some street parking but it's limited. Be prepared to do it out for a parking space if you come on a Saturday or Sunday. The staff here is helpful. But the lines can get long when the after work or weekend a crowd arrives. I mean this place is daunting and I've always expected more from Cotsco. The few times I've been, the sampling has been real limited, like 1 or 2 spots. They seemingly change products? Something I've gotten one month, a few months is no longer there. This one does seem a bit smaller and parking is mayhem. The lines are long but go swiftly. I love them, just love them. It's a monthly ritual to come here and get stuff. I go during the week so the line isn't as long, however, recently I went and everyone and there mother was in there. I can find what I want where I want it. The associates are quite brisk when speaking to you. So it's clear, especially at the end of the day that they want you to leave. Hoovering just enough and telling you that they are closing. It's not like they have to wait for us to leave to close down, so that's always been weird for me. The store is nice and clean and they have a large selection of things. My main two gripes are that the book section is much smaller than it used to be. I loved to peruse books and buy some. But, the section is tiny and useless. The other issue is that they split the wine offerings and instead of being one stop looking there are two sections. I don't know what they replaced it with, but some are on the shelves and others are in bins. That's also strange to me. So I have to look at two different places for the wine. They also don't have my favorite cheeses, but that's a rich person's problem. The value is good, especially on clothes. Seasonally, I get shirts and pajamas. I also get my undies here. Food, you have to be careful, because it will go to waste if not used. Coffee, crackers, and tortillas are always a good buy. Then there is the medicines and lotions, shampoos, etc. The spices are a hit. I avoid the food court because I'm not a food court girl. I also don't want to wait in line for a meh whatever it is I'm buying. On my last visit I didn't go in with a cart, but I decided to go though and get some toilet paper. A person doing go backs had two carts and asked me if I needed a cart. I said yes and she emptied one to give to me. An associate came over to help her. That was awesome. That felt good! Costco is always a good place to buy your bulk items at occasionally. They have a lot of fun stuff that will attract your attention like I found today. They're pretty good about having smaller gifts available so you can fill a lot of Christmas stockings or presents and not pay an arm and a leg for it. This Costco was bustling and loaded with customers. Parking was interesting and we were able to find a space right out the front door. We must've had the good luck to be at the right place at the right time. We must've had good luck because we got and found everything we needed in a couple extra things as well. The place was clean. The shopping carts were full and they were actually enough motorized vehicles because I am slightly handicap. Those MOBILITY creature godsend for a big place like that. They have a lot of things on sale at this time that they don't normally have on sale and I appreciate it and I would recommend to anybody who is interested to read how the codes are on the tags check it out on the Internet. You'll find out if something is truly a sale an in-house sale seasonal sale. We're going to be discontinued that sort of thing. Costco is a great place. Although further from my home, I like this Costco because it has a fuel station and it's close to Ranch 99 when I need to restock on Asian groceries. It also offers more Asian products like oyster sauce, lapcheung, Pocky, etc. It would benefit from having a self checkout, but the cashier teams move quickly. The parking lot is on the smaller side, but I still find it worth stopping by when I am in the area. They even had a steam cleaner when I was looking for one today! read more

My most recent visit was a freaking horrible experience. Cashier was chatting with someone while ringing me up. Ended up double charging items, then removing them, then readding them, which made the receipt a nightmare to understand. After exiting the warehouse I carefully reviewed the receipt trying to decipher the mess, and noticed there was a double charged item still there. That resulted in having to re-enter the store, queue up at customer service line, and have perishable items sit out of refrigeration. Worst Costco experience ever!!! Also generally on Saturday and Sunday this location is a madhouse. Crowded aisles, people fighting for parking spaces. Shopping at Costco should be pleasant, not stressful and nerve-racking! read more

Costco in Richmond can be a nightmare. Parking is hard to find when going there during lunch and over the weekend. With the street parking near the warehouse can be horrible since nobody pays attention to cars coming or learning to park on the street. Getting line for gas can be very crowded. Drivers can't decide which pump to go to. I have seen cars cutting to go to another pump across from the lane you were at. I sworn nobody knows how to stay in the lane you are at. Inside Costco there are plenty of people shopping here. I have seen long line at the self checkout. I have seen people cutting other people in line which Costco tries their best to inform people that the line starts here and no cutting allowed. If the situation at Richmond does not get solved I don't think I would give this five stars. Four stars isn't bad but it is still a good review but there has to be problems that need to be situated. read more

The last time I was at Costco I picked up several bottles of various red wines and two bottles of the same white, accidentally. I gave one of the whites to my book group hostess and plan to give the other to my neighbors. I liked all the reds so when I had drunk them all I decided to return to Costco to buy more. When I brought one bottle to dinner w/ my next door neighbors' last week they told me that a friend of theirs had purchased a Kirkland brand Châteauneuf-du-Pape which was reasonably priced and excellent. This year's supply is sold out, so we'll have to wait until next year. Today I chose several more bottles, some new to me and some repeats from my last purchase. The prices of Costco wines range from inexpensive to OMG, so there's something for every pocketbook. I'm not sure whether they offer a case discount because I've never bought a case there. Trader Joe's doesn't and BevMo does. I have a dim and possibly untrustworthy memory of buying half a case at Costco and being offered a discount, but either my memory is faulty or they no longer do that because I wasn't offered one today. I have found the employees very helpful and the store well run. One long-time employee told me how well they are treated. I only wish they didn't move products around so often, forcing you to spend more time there than I'd like. I see someone complained because they closed the self-checkout. That's because people were using it to steal from the store. It's not Costco's fault. And the other few times, there was a good amount of carts too, great job Richmond Costco! Save yourself the time by going to Danville, SF (SoMa), or San Leandro instead. This location is an abomination of Costco. Against my better judgement I tried the Richmond location today and ended up wasting an hour and getting nothing. The lines were backed up because a supervisor was needed by the person in front of me for an item exchange, for 15 minutes, and apparently this short bald guy wearing a blue vest that was standing at a podium that was occupied with his phone screen was the supervisor. After 15 minutes he decided to go help another checkout that had just asked for a supervisor. Maybe that supervisor just really hates the checkout person whose lane I'd picked and chooses to fully ignore them, perhaps they got in a fight at some point and the checkout person has a restraining order against that particular supervisor, but I left my stuff on the conveyor belt and walked out. btw, I'm pretty sure the item exchange was broken eggs, which I've received from this location every time (and just suck it up, though I did think about going back once when I'd found they'd broken 6 eggs). Richmond has a few egg slammers. This location's optometry also wouldn't resell me glasses. I broke a pair of glasses that I'd bought from Costco and just wanted to replace them. The optometry here refused to sell them to me again without getting another examination because it had been 13 months since my last eye exam. So I went to Danville where they didn't have any problem replacing them and even gave me a discount on the frames. Every Costco location is far better than this one in every way. read more

Just like any other costco, but this one has a strange parkinglot and strange routing of path to the gas station. Then the parking is kind of odd on the side and back of the warehouse. Overall everything else are like the other costcos. Ton of product and even Halloween Items already on the display 3 mos ahead of the game. I was there mid July. Interesting. The pizza looked so good that I went back and changed my hot dog to the full size pizza. Staff were really friendly about it and easy to exchange. Got everything I needed, checked to see if they had anything different from my area in SSF but similar items. May come by again for gas if they open early. Costco Richmond is the closest one in my Pinole area. It's good if you know what you're looking for & get it & go. Afternoons are very busy. They now have ck your own items which is faster for small amount of items which is great & fast. I can't complain everyone loves a good deal for their family & business! I hope others feel the same. Today I want to take the time to thank the staff and the members at Costco for helping my mother. "Do the right thing" has always been part of Costco's value and today my family had the opportunity to experience it in a very grateful way. My mother was rushing when she was loading up her stuff and forgot her about her phone. It was unknown what happened to her phone but she thought she left it on the Costco shopping cart. She did not realize her phone was missing until she returned home. Believing that phone could possibly be in the shopping cart still, she returned to Costco and attempted to find it. She contacted Costco customer service and her phone was located. It was either a Costco member or a staff who located the phone and returned it to the customer service. Small act of kindness is the reflection of Costco's values and we truly appreciate it. Thank you again for doing the right thing even when no one is watching. read more

The wait for work at the tire center is ridiculous. They are way overbooked, and I waited for hours for a simple tire rotation.

Great products, very competitive pricing, happy, helpful, busy employees, quick, accurate check-out, generous return policy, tasty food court. Limited multiple brands are stocked for a particular item but the curated one they do carry is often superior. I live alone yet I have learned how to select and properly store Costco's large quantity product offerings to serve my usage. The only thing better than Costco is Costco stock. Why are the bathrooms closed for cleaning 90 minutes before closing? The Hispanic cleaning lady yelled at me for going into the bathroom while she is standing there for hella long waiting for the remaining people in the bathroom to be done. I just needed to pee really bad which takes less than a minute and her yelling at me was uncalled for. I hope you never have to experience someone yelling at you for no reason and denying you access to the bathroom When you really have to pee just because they wanted to clean the bathroom more than an hour early before closing. I never had a bad experience with Costco employees and usually think they are more pleasant and provide better customer service than other places but this was new. read more

I worked for Costco for 4 years and during that time we were always taught to give the member anything they needed. If we had any attitude, caught on our phones, slacking off, or harassing members, we were written up or fired. Boy oh boy this Costco does not live up to these standards, not even close. First the employees can be very dismissive and rude. One employee, mando was on his phone having a conversation with a friend. When he saw me grab a lime box to put my items in it, he sure had something to say about that. He harassed me to put it back. In my 4 years of working at a different location, we never harassed members about anything trivial. After this he dismissed my question about this "rule" and continued having a comical conversation over the phone. The prices here continue to rise and rise and rise. It's starting to become less "cost effective" to shop here. I understand inflation and the economics behind it; however, for a place that prides itself on "making profit on penny margins", it seems like they're following industry trends of selling products well ahead of the cost of inflation. At least the hotdog is still a buck fifty. I understand maintaining a positive work environment, however when your cashiers are having conversations with each other or with the boxers, it shouldn't cause them to work extra slow.
