I also got a salad and chicken! I need to start making a lunch when I take my daughter to work! Well I'm back to get my daughter from work! I did excellent timing. Only bc the cashier was super helpful and fast! Her energy was so precious! She told me take my time . No need to rush just the coolest! These huge bags of popcorn one was $4.69 I believe and $5. Just checking in to record a wild Friday afternoon at Richmond Costco. It wasn't crazy wild, just that kind of super-busy regular Friday. Folks were parking out on the side streets, which is a sign of how busy this store gets. I decided to use the bathroom facilities and leave without stopping to shop for anything. There were at least 25 people queued up for food, so I just could not bear to experience that either. Ah well, another day. I went over to the nearby seashore, walked a bit and felt the calming, salty breeze of the bay instead; very energizing and healing. A great Friday afternoon after all. read more

My elderly mother bought a set of tires from Costco that come with a warranty. She got a nail in her tire, so I tried to help her out and take the car in today to get the tire repaired. They refused to honor the warranty and repair the tire, because she wasn't there with me with her membership card, even though I had the receipt and all the paperwork with her member number on it. The guy behind the counter in the tire center was quite rude and told me that the memberships aren't shareable. I'm not trying to share the membership, I'm trying to help my elderly mother get her tire repaired. The customer service at Costco has really gone downhill. The tire repair service at Costco is terrible anyway. Whether you make an appointment or not it still takes at least 3 hours. Who has that kind of time? So whatever you're saving with the warranty, you're probably going to spend on an Uber to wherever you're going because they take so long. What are they doing for 3 hours when it should take about 10 minutes to patch a tire. My family will not be getting another set of tires from Costco. read more

In my 26 years as a homeowner dealing with dozens of contractors rebuilding our 100 year old house from the foundation up, never have we experienced such a horrendous experience with either a contractor nor delivery. Marcos showed up at 3:00, an hour before the promised 4-6 pm window just as I was beginning to empty the refrigerator. We were his last job on a Friday and he seemed determined to start his weekend early by finding a way to cancel the delivery. He insisted that our recently new shut off was rusty and not operable. When I closed it informing me that it was installed a few years ago and new, he insisted there was a wall between it and the refrigerator. I mentioned that it was still within the 6 foot threshold. He said he was not allowed to hook up a water line if there was a wall there. I told him no problem, we'd hook up the water line easily ourselves. He insisted that the delivery had to be cancelled and called customer service when I objected. With 31 years experience as an elementary school teacher and site union representative for many of those years I know how to read a contract I told him the Costco contract said that they could leave there refrigerator, haul away the old one but not hook up the water line. He said he was not bound by Costco contract because he worked for a third party and called customer service. Marvin at customer sent me a text that the delivery was cancelled. Fortunately I was able to inform Marvin that the photographs Marcos had taken without pulling out the refrigerate were misleading and that there were several feet of new copper tubing water line behind the old refrigerator. I offered to text him clean pictures that we took a few days ago. I told Marvin that the guys had shown up over an hour early on their last job, hoping to start their weekend early by invalidating it but that t it was against their Costco contract. I started reading from the contract and Marvin realized they had made a mistake and called the guys back to the job. To get revenge they messed up my floor, and never finished installing the refrigerator, leaving all the blue tape and shelves installed, with one of the five missing. They also left plastic all around the panel, that I've had to use a toothpick to remove. They left so fast I couldn't even hand them the tip since they did seem skilled at what they were doing. Marcos (not his polite Columbian partner who was fine) was the rudest contractor we've ever worked with. My son just got a Costco membership a year ago and was very excited to include me as a household member. He bought us this refrigerator with his new job. I thought I would join Costco and get a family membership. My husband laughed that he wants no part of you. He asked Marcos how many deliveries he had made prior to ours and Marcos said 13! I can't imagine installing sinks, washing machines, dishwashers and all the things your email says might be installed. This is inhuman and almost slavery. I can see why Marcos was so upset by the time he arrived at our house. This is why i wanted to tip him. As we speak it has been 12 hours and the refrigerator, though the water works just fine, is not yet producing ice nor is cold. I hope we wake up to what was promised. I mean this place is daunting and I've always expected more from Cotsco. The few times I've been, the sampling has been real limited, like 1 or 2 spots. They seemingly change products? Something I've gotten one month, a few months is no longer there. This one does seem a bit smaller and parking is mayhem. The lines are long but go swiftly. I love them, just love them. It's a monthly ritual to come here and get stuff. I go during the week so the line isn't as long, however, recently I went and everyone and there mother was in there. I can find what I want where I want it. The associates are quite brisk when speaking to you. So it's clear, especially at the end of the day that they want you to leave. Hoovering just enough and telling you that they are closing. It's not like they have to wait for us to leave to close down, so that's always been weird for me. The store is nice and clean and they have a large selection of things. My main two gripes are that the book section is much smaller than it used to be. I loved to peruse books and buy some. But, the section is tiny and useless. The other issue is that they split the wine offerings and instead of being one stop looking there are two sections. I don't know what they replaced it with, but some are on the shelves and others are in bins. That's also strange to me. So I have to look at two different places for the wine. They also don't have my favorite cheeses, but that's a rich person's problem. The value is good, especially on clothes. Seasonally, I get shirts and pajamas. I also get my undies here. Food, you have to be careful, because it will go to waste if not used. Coffee, crackers, and tortillas are always a good buy. Then there is the medicines and lotions, shampoos, etc. The spices are a hit. I avoid the food court because I'm not a food court girl. I also don't want to wait in line for a meh whatever it is I'm buying. On my last visit I didn't go in with a cart, but I decided to go though and get some toilet paper. A person doing go backs had two carts and asked me if I needed a cart. I said yes and she emptied one to give to me. An associate came over to help her. That was awesome. That felt good! Thank you so much to those people because I would have had to struggle to the front of the store with my Tofu and my toilet paper. I could have juggled and struggled but didn't have to. Chopped onions are back at the food court!!! If you order a hotdog at the food court, be sure to ask for the chopped onions. They are absolutely delicious on that hot dog. This is a moderate size Costco, with a parking lot that gets full on the weekends. There's some street parking but it's limited. Be prepared to do it out for a parking space if you come on a Saturday or Sunday. The staff here is helpful. But the lines can get long when the after work or weekend a crowd arrives. As usual, this Costco has the great value that all Costco's are known for. read more

Costco is always a good place to buy your bulk items at occasionally. They have a lot of fun stuff that will attract your attention like I found today. They're pretty good about having smaller gifts available so you can fill a lot of Christmas stockings or presents and not pay an arm and a leg for it. This Costco was bustling and loaded with customers. Parking was interesting and we were able to find a space right out the front door. We must've had the good luck to be at the right place at the right time. We must've had good luck because we got and found everything we needed in a couple extra things as well. The place was clean. The shopping carts were full and they were actually enough motorized vehicles because I am slightly handicap. Those MOBILITY creature godsend for a big place like that. They have a lot of things on sale at this time that they don't normally have on sale and I appreciate it and I would recommend to anybody who is interested to read how the codes are on the tags check it out on the Internet. You'll find out if something is truly a sale an in-house sale seasonal sale. We're going to be discontinued that sort of thing. Costco is a great place. It also offers more Asian products like oyster sauce, lapcheung, Pocky, etc. It would benefit from having a self checkout, but the cashier teams move quickly. The parking lot is on the smaller side, but I still find it worth stopping by when I am in the area. They even had a steam cleaner when I was looking for one today! read more

The 5 is for one of the Managers Tiffani. She listens and treats people right. It's a busy store and arguably hard to manage. Why I would rate the store a 3.5: Beware - the coffee grinder backing wall has a hole in it! You pour your beans in one side, and if the clear round backing wall has come loose, the beans spill out the hole. Hopefully they will fix this soon (with more than tape). The tire pump outside the store frequently shuts off before the gas station is shut. Plus it may not be available when the gas station opens in the morning (depends if anyone shows up to the tire center early to turn it on). Not sure that's even legal. Lately I don't think they take phone orders for pizza anymore. Not sure as they've gone back and forth on that over time. Biggest recent complaint: If it's supposed to close at 7 PM on a Saturday, you better be there at 6:55 PM. Yes - to go home early I've seen the employees shut the gate at 6:58 / 6:59 PM. A lot depends on whose working the gate that night. Nonetheless, it's Costco so it can't be that bad. read more

Once you are in the store you'll have to navigate throngs of shoppers and slow check out lines... Customer service is a low priority for the management at this store. Costco in Richmond can be a nightmare. Parking is hard to find when going there during lunch and over the weekend. With the street parking near the warehouse can be horrible since nobody pays attention to cars coming or learning to park on the street. Getting line for gas can be very crowded. Drivers can't decide which pump to go to. I have seen cars cutting to go to another pump across from the lane you were at. I sworn nobody knows how to stay in the lane you are at. Inside Costco there are plenty of people shopping here. I have seen long line at the self checkout. I have seen people cutting other people in line which Costco tries their best to inform people that the line starts here and no cutting allowed. If the situation at Richmond does not get solved I don't think I would give this five stars. Four stars isn't bad but it is still a good review but there has to be problems that need to be situated. read more

My most recent visit was a freaking horrible experience. Cashier was chatting with someone while ringing me up. Ended up double charging items, then removing them, then readding them, which made the receipt a nightmare to understand. After exiting the warehouse I carefully reviewed the receipt trying to decipher the mess, and noticed there was a double charged item still there. That resulted in having to re-enter the store, queue up at customer service line, and have perishable items sit out of refrigeration. Worst Costco experience ever!!! Also generally on Saturday and Sunday this location is a madhouse. Crowded aisles, people fighting for parking spaces. Shopping at Costco should be pleasant, not stressful and nerve-racking! read more

The last time I was at Costco I picked up several bottles of various red wines and two bottles of the same white, accidentally. I gave one of the whites to my book group hostess and plan to give the other to my neighbors. I liked all the reds so when I had drunk them all I decided to return to Costco to buy more. When I brought one bottle to dinner w/ my next door neighbors' last week they told me that a friend of theirs had purchased a Kirkland brand Châteauneuf-du-Pape which was reasonably priced and excellent. This year's supply is sold out, so we'll have to wait until next year. Today I chose several more bottles, some new to me and some repeats from my last purchase. The prices of Costco wines range from inexpensive to OMG, so there's something for every pocketbook. I'm not sure whether they offer a case discount because I've never bought a case there. Trader Joe's doesn't and BevMo does. I have a dim and possibly untrustworthy memory of buying half a case at Costco and being offered a discount, but either my memory is faulty or they no longer do that because I wasn't offered one today. I like costco in general. The bakery however used to be amazing. I think they have gone downhill and suspect they are using inferior ingredients to save money and so they don't have to raise prices. I would prefer they raise prices. there bakery is not even close in quality to what it was a couple of months ago. There is hardly any cookies and the chocolate chip cookies look over cooked and unappealing. They used to be chewing and crunchy delicious. Not anyone. I have found the employees very helpful and the store well run. One long-time employee told me how well they are treated. I only wish they didn't move products around so often, forcing you to spend more time there than I'd like. I see someone complained because they closed the self-checkout. That's because people were using it to steal from the store. It's not Costco's fault. For me, I also appreciate they have not cowed to the bullying from Washington to stop certain policies. read more

And the other few times, there was a good amount of carts too, great job Richmond Costco! Save yourself the time by going to Danville, SF (SoMa), or San Leandro instead. This location is an abomination of Costco. Against my better judgement I tried the Richmond location today and ended up wasting an hour and getting nothing. The lines were backed up because a supervisor was needed by the person in front of me for an item exchange, for 15 minutes, and apparently this short bald guy wearing a blue vest that was standing at a podium that was occupied with his phone screen was the supervisor. After 15 minutes he decided to go help another checkout that had just asked for a supervisor. Maybe that supervisor just really hates the checkout person whose lane I'd picked and chooses to fully ignore them, perhaps they got in a fight at some point and the checkout person has a restraining order against that particular supervisor, but I left my stuff on the conveyor belt and walked out. btw, I'm pretty sure the item exchange was broken eggs, which I've received from this location every time (and just suck it up, though I did think about going back once when I'd found they'd broken 6 eggs). Richmond has a few egg slammers. This location's optometry also wouldn't resell me glasses. I broke a pair of glasses that I'd bought from Costco and just wanted to replace them. The optometry here refused to sell them to me again without getting another examination because it had been 13 months since my last eye exam. So I went to Danville where they didn't have any problem replacing them and even gave me a discount on the frames. Every Costco location is far better than this one in every way. read more

Just like any other costco, but this one has a strange parkinglot and strange routing of path to the gas station. Then the parking is kind of odd on the side and back of the warehouse. Overall everything else are like the other costcos. Ton of product and even Halloween Items already on the display 3 mos ahead of the game. I was there mid July. Interesting. The pizza looked so good that I went back and changed my hot dog to the full size pizza. Staff were really friendly about it and easy to exchange. Got everything I needed, checked to see if they had anything different from my area in SSF but similar items. May come by again for gas if they open early. Today I want to take the time to thank the staff and the members at Costco for helping my mother. "Do the right thing" has always been part of Costco's value and today my family had the opportunity to experience it in a very grateful way. My mother was rushing when she was loading up her stuff and forgot her about her phone. It was unknown what happened to her phone but she thought she left it on the Costco shopping cart. She did not realize her phone was missing until she returned home. Believing that phone could possibly be in the shopping cart still, she returned to Costco and attempted to find it. She contacted Costco customer service and her phone was located. It was either a Costco member or a staff who located the phone and returned it to the customer service. Small act of kindness is the reflection of Costco's values and we truly appreciate it. Thank you again for doing the right thing even when no one is watching. read more
