Marian is an awesome optician. She placed my order for progressive lenses and a high quality affordable frame. She also handled the VSP insurance claim and made sure I got a discount for the second pair with transitions lenses. Costco and Marian are the gold standard of care. I do not know why you would waste time or money anyplace else. read more

I've been seeing Dr Curt Nguyen for years and he's always been pretty awesome! I've probably only made one appointment and the rest of my visits were walk ins which I find very convenient. He is thorough but quick with his exams which I appreciate since I normally go during my lunch break. Ordered new glasses and was excited to pick them up. Well I put them on and can't see person in front of me with them on. I tole employee something was wrong. He said those are correct glasses. I said I can't see you, it's very blurry and he said they are only for reading. I said why would I get these as I only read very little and he said that's what "we" ordered. I explained I'm not a glasses expert but these aren't what I purchased. He said my previous glasses were progressive lenses and these new ones weren't. I said EXACTLY. Employee said he could order me new lenses and I could take these out and I could keep them and I would pay for new lenses and I already paid for this incorrect order. I said NO. He said well that's all I can do. Meanwhile the manager who ordered them was listening and didn't do anything. Marian is manager name and she's rude to her employees just like her customers. My whole family went here for about 4 years... my brother felt that his prescription has never been correct, and my glasses had been making my eyes tired for years (I usually wear contacts, so I didn't care too much). We found another optometrist who fixed our prescriptions and offered a wider variety of contact lenses to fit my needs. You get what you pay for! read more

Optometrist seemed a little rushed. I think this is the shortest appointment I have ever had. Maybe 10 minutes tops. I think I had a great optometrist in So Cal but I am now 500 miles away and am looking for one up here. The frame selection is limited but cheap. I didn't find exactly what I wanted because they don't carry a lot and no longer carry frame-less glasses. The woman who fitted me was nice and took her time but there was not a lot to choose from. Prices are much lower but next time I think I would rather go to a place that has more selection. Also you have to file your own paper work for insurance. They don't do this for you. The Optometrist does not even take the Costco AX credit card. Update. After wearing the glasses for a few weeks I just don't like them as much as my old glasses. The style is not as nice and they are heaver which you will not realize until you wear them for a day. I would not go back here again. Do yourself a favor and spend the money for a proper pair of glasses. Cheaper is not always better with an optometrist and glasses. read more

I had my eyes examined last week at Costco Optical and was very disappointed. The exam was short and I didn't feel like it was thorough. I am 60 and am having trouble with my vision and droopy eyelids so asked for a "field vision exam". It showed that I have "blank" spots in my periferal vision. The optometrist said that the test results were not caused by my droopy eyelids. He also gave me a new prescription but did not correct my distance vision - only the close. I was not feeling confident about this visit so made an appointment with another optometrist (not Costco). He found that I needed a correction for both my close and distance vision. The Rx for the close up correction was very different than what the Costco doctor said. I also had another field vision study and it came out similar to the test that I had at Costco. The big difference is that my new eye doctor said that droopy eyelids DO cause problems with periferal vision. I spent $110.00 for the Costco exam and feel like it was a huge waste of money. I spent another $195.00 for the second exam but walked out of that appointment feeling very confident. I will NEVER use Costco Optical again. You may think it is cheap but you get what you pay for - a lousy, useless eye exam. read more

Cheapest prince on contacts, hands down. They also have a great selection of frames. My husband finally had to get glasses. We took a look and was happy to find a pair of designer frames both he and I agreed on. It take about a week to get them back after ordered glasses. read more

The day that I was heading on vacation I realized that I was down to my last pair on contacts. I called Costco Optical and they were able to fit me in their schedule the same day. I explained that I was there because my prescription had expired and I wanted an exam so that I could pick up some new contacts. I was in a bit of a rush and I was so impressed with how thorough and quick the exam was! I will definitely continue to go to Dr. Nguyen for my vision needs! read more

My rating for the optometrist service we received is not 1 star-it's 0 stars. Yes it's that bad. My son and I went to visit the optometrist for an eye exam after three years of wearing the same glasses, but the service we received from Dr. Curt Nguyen was the worst my family has received. Throughout the whole procedure, he went through the examinations in less than 10 minutes as though he is aiming to hit no higher than the bare minimum quality necessary. The way he rushed through the examination is very unprofessional. The worst part, though, was in the dilation eye exam. During the dilation procedure, after putting the eyedrops in, typical doctors would wait for 20 or so minutes in order for the eyes to dilate to check the back of the eye. However, Dr. Nguyen did not wait and instead did the procedure immediately after the eye drops were put in. Although he did give his opinions of how it was unnecessary, it felt as though he was trying to get us out of the room as soon as possible for the next patient. I will never return to that place again. read more

Don't go if you want any kind of friendly competent service! We went a few days ago to get my daughters eye glass prescription filled. It was busy but not crazy. There were 3 persons working and after about a fifteen minute wait our number was called. Unfortunately our number was called by Debbie. She was so rude and acted very rushed. She didn't allow for questions at all! She has no customer service at all and didn't know how to center glasses on the eyes. She was mad and flustered. Terrible! The doctor is wonderful, and deserves 5 stars, however, the employee behind the counter was extremely rude. When I was trying to explain my situation to her, she denied me my contacts, and was a real bitch. She's middle-eastern or African-American. Couldn't tell, because by then, she was trying to reiterate to me how a Costco Membership works. What nerve ! I told her I was in the system to receive contacts, yet wouldn't sell me them because my mother was not present. I understand this is a protocol of Costco's, but it did not justify her bitchiness towards me. I even mentioned how ill my mother was and was trying to provide her my mother's contact information just in case she didn't believe me, but rudely cut me off. Of course she didn't believe me. Who turns down a customer like that?? That's horrible business, and bad customer care. read more

I love Costco optical! I go to this one and the one in Danville but I prefer this one because I am more familiar with it. (I used to go to school right around this Costco so anytime I needed glasses or contacts I came here.) I prefer this optical department over Danville's optical department because of the layout. It's got it's own section sort of away from the chaos that is Costco. I bought a pair of Betsey Johnson glasses here recently and I love them. I get compliments on them all the time. They only cost me about $120. They are so much cheaper than my optometrists. They have a wide variety of glasses to choose from. The customer service is fantastic. The people that work here are really nice and very informative. Sometimes the wait is long but it's so worth it. They will adjust/clean your glasses at any time for free. I also want to give special kudos to a lady that works here named Cass. She is awesome. I have talked with her on the phone and interacted with her when I went to buy my new glasses. She is sweet, has great customer service skills and knows a lot of helpful information. I have also bought my contacts here with no trouble. read more

I have a major problem with one and ONLY one optometry staff. She doesn't even have a name tag so so sad I can't expose her. She kept bending my glasses because I said one side with heavier than the other. WHAT DOES THAT SOLVE!!??? I wasn't asking her to tighten, my reaction was DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, NOT MAKE IT WORSE. I first met her to get my new pair of glasses and she basically ruined it from the start. Then, now today she even did a more worse job and is making me want to chop my ear. She kept blaming it on the glasses that they were 'heavy'. The first time I got my glasses, she adjusted it. She didn't make an excuse that it was heavy. Now apparently 3 weeks after, it's 'heavy'. If you see the women, black hair, slightly fat, no name tag, I would advise you to wait for the next staff available so this won't happen to you. You'll end up paying more money because of a lower paying person doesn't reach your expectations that should be fired. read more

I picked out a pair of sunglasses at their road show today. When I purchased it, I knew it was a bit big. Because it fitted my face so well, I got it anyway. The ladies there were amazing. Instead of sent me my way, I got two charming ladies, Donna and Judy to helped me to adjusted it to perfect fit. It took quite a few tries. They didn't quit until it was perfect. I was thrilled. Then, I realized there was a chip in the frame. They cheerfully provided me with a replacement and repeated the adjustment process. Their customer service and over and beyond. I could never ask for anything more. Kudo to Judy and Donna. read more

You can also see reviews under Dr. Curt Nguyen here on Yelp. Anyway, since I was new in town, low on contacts, and with an expired prescription, I decided to give Dr. Nguyen a try. Somehow he managed to mess up my prescription, not even offer a sample pair to try (which I didn't think about till too late), and I ended up with special order lenses that I couldn't see with at all. So, fed up with this error and his receptionist who always seemed totally clueless, I moved on and found Dr. Li, located in the Livermore Walmart. He is friendly, professional and not expensive. He corrected my prescription, ordered me multiple sample contacts, until we found the perfect pair, made with a new, very comfortable material, not even suggested by Dr. Nguyen. I highly recommend Dr. Li, and will never return to Dr. Nguyen. By the way, Costco prices aren't all that great at all. Walmart's are very comparable, and my contacts can be found on line for cheaper than either of these places. read more
