We believe a visit for an annual exam was incorrectly billed to our medical insurance, not our vision insurance, resulting in a larger co-share for us. We called the office without any resolution, and wrote a letter asking that they resubmit this correctly, or we would be leaving the practice. They haven't called nor resolved the billing issue - and seem okay losing a long-timer client (10 years), and a longish-time client (5 years). I thought I would write this review since on my last visit, before I had even seen Dr Kraft, one of the techs asked me to write a review on some platform (maybe this one).

When I gave myself a gnarly corneal abrasion causing terrible discomfort, my wife (who is a patient…read morehere) told me I should give them a call to have it checked out. Thankfully they were able to fit me in that same day and I saw Dr. Vinh, who diagnosed my abrasion and immediately alleviated my discomfort with numbing drops and a contact lens bandage over my cornea, prescribing me antibiotic drops to take to prevent an eye infection. Long story short I leaned the very hard way that I am allergic to a specific type of antibiotic eye drop (which for the record Dr. Vinh said was quite rare) and my eye swelled up and became badly inflamed overnight, causing me to return the next day and see Dr. Perry, who took great care of me and gave me steroid drops to bring down the inflammation. A day later and my eye was as good as new, and I saw Dr. Vinh again who gave me a clean bill of health. Simply put, I could not have been in better hands than I was with NOVA Vision Center. The professionalism and care that I experienced from the receptionists to the techs to the doctors was second to none. These folks are good at what they do, they truly care about their patients, and it shows. I now look forward to making them my new eye care place in the future, hopefully next time under better circumstances! :)

(I told her so many times that I just wanted basic black sunglasses! lol) She insisted that I still needed an anti-reflective and anti-fog coating, so I agreed to pay an extra $90 for that, bringing the adjusted total to $250. still so expensive... Guess what I actually got? SHE REMOVED THE TINT ENTIRELY, and I ended up with CLEAR glass???!!! So Crazy!!! And, I have no idea why she would even recommend an anti-reflective coating on a non-prescription, clear lens after she removed the tint. lol.. Does this woman completely lack common sense? Does she not know the basic definition of a sunglass? Hey, the Indian lady!!! Sunglasses have a tint!!!!!!!! She really took the time to get to know me as a person as well, which I believe gave her more background when deciding which contacts to recommend, but she also seemed to be genuinely interested in me. (Really refreshing) They got a new front office staff which was a brilliant improvement from my experience last year. The front staff are insanely kind and willing to do everything they can to make the experience as smooth as possible. They took ample amount of time to make sure I understood everything on my bill/insurance in extreme detail. I did have to wait about 15 minutes after my appointment time, but the care they took to make sure I had a good experience was well worth the wait. I've also seen Dr. Sparrenberger who is very good as well. When I got home, I realized I forgot to update my new address. I called right before close and they immediately updated my profile and sent me a email with an updated copy of my receipt. Beautiful customer service and definitely the best experience I've had at an eye doctor. This is a review of the Reston location as I have not been to other locations. 1/3/2020

The staff in the front of the store are focused heavily on selling glasses, while the professionals in the back who conduct the eye exams were courteous and did a good job. The problem came after my eye exam. Once my new prescription was determined, I expected to receive a copy of it so I could decide where I wanted to purchase my glasses. Instead, the prescription was immediately sent to the front desk. When I made it clear that I did not intend to purchase glasses there, I became concerned about the prescription I was ultimately provided and whether it accurately reflected the results of my examination. The prices for glasses at NVDOC were substantially higher than what I could find online, which made the experience even more frustrating. A customer should be able to receive an accurate copy of their prescription and shop wherever they choose without feeling pressured into purchasing glasses from the office. The eye-care professionals themselves were good, but the overall experience at the front of the store left me extremely disappointed. I would recommend getting a copy of your prescription and having it independently verified before purchasing glasses elsewhere. Based on my experience, I would not return to NVDOC.
