Love the merchandise, selection and value of the warehouse, tire center, vision center, and gas. Staff is helpful when needed. Downsides are the horrible design of the parking lot combined with the facts that there's only one location in Delaware and residents from nearby states often shop here for tax free shopping, and you're competing with Christiana Mall traffic and Fashion Center traffic. There never seems to be a good time to go, and forget about it around the holidays. It's sometimes worth driving to PA to go to the closest out of state location, but we still love everything else about it and keep going. read more

I have been shopping at Costco for over 20 years and have never had any issues at the Irvine, California, or King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, locations. I am currently visiting a vacation home nearby and stopped by this Costco. Unfortunately, there is a very noticeable difference in both customer behavior and overall courtesy compared with the other locations I have visited. Other than that, the store itself is similar to most Costco locations. I also really appreciate that it has a gas station. For vehicles such as BMWs and Porsches that require premium gas, the savings can really add up, especially when traveling frequently in the area. read more

I get that there's early hours for executive members but my 8months pregnant wife came there at like 940 with three kids in tow, 2 of them under 5, she didn't know you couldn't come at store opening. The 8 months pregnant woman with three younger kids AND needs to use a bathroom should drag them all back to the car and wait. No "hey next time, you can't come this early unless you upgrade." 15min later she tries to come back in, one of the kids throws a tantrum while entering the store and is told to "you need to move people are trying to come into the store" by an employee... which again remember that it's a human being in the entryway not a mere obstacle (people can still get around her mind you, they weren't totally blocking the entrance). We love Costco but the utter lack of compassion for people, we've cancelled our membership and won't be back after being treated like that. read more

This is the fifth Costco I have shopped in, and the first that is sales tax free! It is all a huge warehouse full of what a good supermarket has as inventory, but supersized and well discounted, making visiting a Costco in tax free Delaware more than just an overwhelming consumer escapade that turns it into an absolute carnival of heart contentedness and smart consumerism. True, that the parking design needs major improvement, and that each Costco is different from every other, but I have become a believer. I have learned to control my compulsion to buy on impulse whatever strike my fancy. Going with a list and not going there hungry helps manage those urges and control the bottom line. This was our last stop in Delaware and of our brief vacation. Normally shopping wouldn't rate a mention after days at the off season beach, but saving money on needed purchases actually enhanced our experience and allowed us to enjoy the time a little more. We needed some new tires so we decided to buy them from Costco as we are very loyal Costco people. We got a good deal and like everything it that was included the price. This Costco though is extremely busy so it was a bit of a challenge. We made an appointment for 2:25 and got there about 20 minutes early. There was only one person in the "check in" area and taking care of everyone no matter what they were there to do. It took us about 20 minutes to get checked in and the check process took about 15 minutes. They told us it would be around 90 minutes. We walked through Costco and got some food in the food court and after two hours of not hearing from them we went over and had to wait in line again for about 20 minutes at which time we received a text that our car was done. Overall we are super happy with our tires but having to wait so long to just check in for a scheduled appointment and it taking over two hours to get our car done was not the best service. read more

If you use your HSA to pay for frames, this can really save. Food: best tuna in cans, great deal on romaine lettuces (6 heads in a pack), specialty crackers like almond flour crackers (gluten free) All kinds of foods and the Kirkland brand is usually excellent. A huge selection of pre-made, ready to bake dinner entrees. If you are taking care of a family and working, this beats takeout by a country mile. Invest in a freezer and stock some dinners so you aren't facing the awfulness of coming home after working nine hours to people staring at you with tongues hanging out "what's for dinner?" I don't like working a second shift, and I'll bet you don't either. You can get the freezer at Costco, too. The Bad: The parking lot. I mean, it IS in Christiana's mall region. IYKYK. You'll have to mastermind how to get in and navigate the rows that have traffic coming at you. Figure out your best route in and parking strategy (walking is good for you) and above all, try not to NOT come here Friday, weekends and the day before a big holiday if you can avoid it. If you have to shop at peak hours, bring a buddy to ride shotg-n and for moral support. The Ugly: Your bill will never be less than two Benjamins. If you're lucky. It's just how they roll. You will tend to over-buy because the sizes are warehouse size, not single person, studio apartment size. So plot out a strategy; shop with a friend is what I do; we split up the mushrooms, butter and romaine, for example. Best to plan and do an inventory at home before you shop. That way, you'll come less often. I know someone who inventories her freezer. It sounds OCD but it isn't. If you have a larger family, extended family or do a lot of entertaining, Costco has better quality for excellent prices but planning on your part is a must. SUMMARY: In a sales-tax free state, Costco can be a really great addition to your shopping. The membership is worthwhile for large purchases and families who wish to prepare meals at home and for people who entertain. The parking lot is a bit hairy. read more

My family has ben coming to this Costco for over 20 years and has never had a bad experience. With more population in recent years, it is definitely busier, but it is always manageable if you know your way around. Out of all the Costco's I have been to, the flow of this store has always made the most sense to me, hitting the clothes, then produce, then the freezers, moving to the shelf stable items, and finishing with toiletries and OTC medications. I was confronted by a random woman who claimed to be an employee (but would not show identify) who was apparently trying to illegally save parking spots by placing cones from the front of the store in empty spots. There were no available spots so I moved the cone and was going to park and she walked in front of my car and replaced the cone and told me I "wasn't allowed to do that, and she would call the cops on me". I also always make sure to get a whole pepperoni pizza each visit :) They offer sample in the afternoon and it's pretty crowded on weekends, but checkout lines are always pretty fast and efficient. The Supervisor with the black hair covering wearing a mask .... I think her name was "V " is aggressive and nasty. I was waiting by spinach dip in the back right hand corner, and there was a line going back towards the soda aisle. Someone yelled. "Get the fuck out of my way...move the fucking line." It was the supervisor pushing a cart full of boxes yelling at an older woman in front of her. When she turned I saw her name and tag. I was on the side with my mom, and my children listening to her yell. She is totally unprofessional, rude, and aggressive. She should not be in a supervisory position. Even when checking out she was by the managers desk looking up a price for a cashier and she was barking at them. We go to this Costco because it's the closest one to where we live in Maryland and it's tax free! It's always packed but there are always carts available and employees willing to help. Typically very clean and workers giving out samples again wear gloves and hairnets. They are very friendly and it goes a long way to be polite, I always say thank you and they seem pleasantly surprised that I do, like they don't get that that often. You have to show your membership card again before you self check out, but they don't really look at the picture or anything in our experience. If you go thru the cashier, they take it and look a bit more closely to make sure it's you. Liquor store section is separate, but well stocked, we love the vodka freezy pops by Kirkland, try them in the summertime! Plenty of deals going on in every aisle, worth the drive to shop in bulk and stock up. read more

This is a review specifically about the liquor store. Unfortunately in my area New Jersey we don't have these. And I've been to other Costco's that sold wine and liquor. However, I did not realize that this particular store has an entire separate section just for wine beer and liquor. As a 30 year member of Sam's I have been in a club before and previously had a BJs membership and registration online might be more practical. was available with out being avoid 20-25 minutes listening to a nice but totally ignorant person rambling about a ID so I gave him a military retirement ID card then he asked for a license so why didn't he ask for it in the beginning? God knows he asked me to write my address down then I had to fill in my information on a crapshoot tablet not to mention I use my master card oh oh they only take visa ! Do you see a pattern untrained person with little common sense who doesn't know how to explain what he needs to complete a membership sale ! And a black woman who doesn't understand what to train her employees what steps are need to complete a new customer a membership card it's ridiculous and it's representative of the club's lack of professionalism. The staff seems like they're not properly trained, or haven't been organized in ways to maximize employee strengths. Try a on line membership it was recommended by the help desk staffers. Pathetic service lackluster customer service staff doesn't anyone at this club have training requirements hand book. Exactly who has a way of circumvent the manager at the service she is providing zero leadership she more like a child then a manager maybe she's a baby sitter for unemployable young people who was hired so they could have a place to pretend to work at . The best employees were hustling bringing in the shopping karts and they seemed more interested in helping customers get in and out of the store. tire Center is a DISASTER. customer service is a foreign concept here. 11:30 appointment for new tires. estimated time was 1.5 hours. at 2 hours I asked for status. response was "almost done. one tire one and should be 15 minutes ". At 3 hours the store manager gave a different response but essentially said no more than 15 minutes. Unfortunately, it took a total of 3 hours and 42 minutes to install 4 tires. no issues with the car, etc. their excuse was one of 2 tire mount machines was down. Its worth the extra $$ saved in taxes to go to the Glen Mills, PA store. (I'm a DE resident). read more

Where the members are treated the worst. They constantly disrespect us. Don't expect anything different from the Costco Supervisor up to the Management team. They often try to belittle us. If more members stop going and cancel or don't renew their membership then things will change for the better. Costco is a place where we pay to do business with them. The average employee there makes about $18-$20 an hour that's all from us paying for our yearly membership to shop there. We can take our business to companies who care like Amazon with a flawless return policy and Customer Service for free. We need to send a message to the Costco Wholesale CEO and tell them their Members will no longer accept their disrespect. I held an Executive membership, spending thousands of dollars a year. I will no longer renew my membership or do business with Costco Wholesale until they treat their members with respect. Once those numbers start dropping and membership declines they'll make some drastic changes. They make Billions off of their membership. The bargains we used to get are long gone. Costco Wholesale is power-driven and not Member-friendly. Most companies now offer rewards that you can use towards discounts on gas for free. More at peace and quiet without any madness. Amid of the ongoing pandemic, they are pretty organized and strict with the social distancing. Only allowing 2 customers per member card. Of course must have on face masks and follow 6 feet rule of social distancing. Fri-Sun is crazy with the wait. Lines are wrapped around the building. So best to avoid unless you have a high tolerance of patience. If you're pumping Premium, the cheapest you can get would be here. Even Regular. I take that extra 10 minute drive twice a week to just fill up. Plus they wipe down the pumps frequently. read more

Pretty fantastic Costco. Clean, friendly associates, have a ton of variety and new items my Costco doesn't have, gas, and booze (my favorite part)!!! I come from Maryland once a quarter to snag booze, gas, and tax free items. The only reason I'm giving this a 4 star Costco is because of the parking lot and customers. The design of the parking lot is not good. The entire area near this mall is wild af. The drivers are horrible and rude.
