What I saw was disturbing. I am a white woman living in Harford County, Maryland, where the store is located. I saw an older white woman employee at the exit on the grocery side acting strangely. Specifically, I observed the woman approaching black customers and overly scrutinizing their receipts, but did not do the same to people of my race. The employee would violate the black customers' personal space and go through their baskets as if they were stealing something; the behavior was apparent. This continued over and over. When I exited, the same employee gave my receipt a cursory review and waved me on. With all of the tensions going on, blatant racism only causes more division and makes things worse. Walmart should be ashamed of itself for contributing to societal problems. If people do not stand up to wrongdoing and evil, nothing will change.

My husband received a shirt from my mother that did not fit. I went to return with the original…read morereceipt since they did not have it in the correct size. I was told all I could do was either return the amount on my mother's credit card or receive a merchandise credit. On top of it, she used a $10.00 Kohl's cash on the purchase. So rather than take a little off each item, they deducted the whole $10. What was the point on saving the receipt? I could have returned without the receipt and still only got the store credit, and not lost the $10.00 Kohl's cash. I feel like I was screwed for doing the right thing. Kohl's puts their customers in a potentially embarrassing situation with a returned gift. You look cheap if you used Kohl's cash and are forcing the customer to shop in their store for something they may not want. They hold your money hostage with returns. Next Christmas or any other time I need to buy a gift that I'll purchase for anyone outside of the family, I'll shop elsewhere. Their customer service was nasty too. When I called corporate headquarters to check on their policy, I was told I was a liar, no store returns for cash, even though I just returned items at Penny's, Walmart and Boscov's which did. Then when asked to speak to a supervisor, I was hung up on. Go on Kohl's, keep treating your customers poorly. There are other stores out there we can use.
