This is a mega Costco, that I typically avoid because the size of the store is overwhelming and the parking lot is huge. The store carries everything that you can imagine or need. The aisles are wide and the check out clerks are amazing at moving people through the lines. They have everything that you could ever want and a bit more than most Costcos. I saw an eye glass center that was featuring sunglasses. The clothing section was massive. I was nearby and stopped in to pick up wine and some trash bags. The wine selection is decent. And, of course, I grabbed a strawberry banana smoothie because it was hot outside. At $3, the smoothies are the best deal in town. The line to leave (check receipts) was long and slow. And of course the gas is always cheaper, usually by 20 cents or more. I can't say that the store is easy on and off the highway, because there's always construction nearby. The parking lot is a bit stressful walking through as people driving seem to be in a hurry and don't yield to pedestrians. read more

This Costco is always crazy busy! They did improve the parking lot which helped with the flow of traffic. The gas prices are usually the best around town. The lines to checkout are usually crazy!! Today I had a rather frustrating experience. I bought diapers, which were posted to be $10 off online and in warehouse. After I left I realized that they did not charge the sale price. This store is well organized. It is very easy to find items that you are looking to buy in bulk. They employees are very helpful because it was my first time here and what I was trying to use to shop wasn't coming up. The customer service worker took time out of her day to call the customer service line to try and help me. My gift card wasn't popping up for me which I think was due to the service inside the store. I had to come back at a later date just due to it not coming up. I learned to just print it off instead or have a screen shot of it before going to the store. What an embarrassment but they understood. The prices are your typical prices for buying items in bulk. They are a membership store and the membership is not much. Updating my review of this Costco, because my last one was written six years ago and was short and lame. I've had a change of heart about Costco in general these past six years. I used to grumble about the fact that I had to show my membership card at the entrance and my receipt at the exit, and that I had to pay by debit card. But all of the benefits of Costco outweigh these hoops that you need to jump through as a member. Honestly, these things don't even register anymore. Costco is great and I'm officially a Costco apologist. Have you seen the size of their pizza slices and the fact that they're only $1.99? I mean, come on. If you're a wine enthusiast, this Castleton location is worth visiting to chat with the wine guy here. I see him in the wine section every time I visit that area, and he's always up for sharing his wine wisdom and recommendations. He even turned me on to a wine app that's great for logging wines and discovering new ones (Vivino)! He is a wealth of knowledge, so if you're looking for something specific or just want to try a new wine and need some advice, seek him out the next time you're here. He's given me so many good recs! I love the layout of this Costco the most of all of the Costcos I've visited in central Indiana. It just makes sense to me. I just wish the sample carts weren't posted up right at the entrance to the aisles, because people be people and block the aisles. Then I also get parchment paper (Kirkland parchment is amazing), almond butter, almond milk, sardines, real maple syrup and coconut water. I can find these things almost all of the time here at this Costco, which is nice because Costco tends to keep it interesting by switching things up sometimes. I used to be against buying in bulk. Really? Do I need a year's supply of trash bags? And enough grapes to start my own winery? (Well, maybe!) I remember when Walmart started selling groceries and became "Super Walmarts". I just kept thinking, "Who in their right mind would want to buy jeans where they also purchase bananas and milk?" Fast forward a few decades and three kids later, and Kirkland has me in a stranglehold. I'll take some trail mix, spiced rum, golf gloves, and a comfy t-shirt, please! Add the rotisserie chickens and hot dogs and you can stick a fork in me 'cause I'm done! (Remember when rotisserie chickens first hit grocery stories? Effing gourmet type shiz. Costco Gas and I did not go into the warehouse today. I would make a separate business, as the gas station operates different hours than the warehouse, but I know Yelp would just merge them together. So here we are. The gas station is physically separate from the warehouse. It's super easy to use with four lanes of pumps. And the hoses are extra long so unless you have a large vehicle like a minivan or a pickup truck, you can use the pump on either side. Me, I have to use a specific side for the Sprinter van which gets frustrating. Membership in Costco is required to use the pumps - you scan your membership card first. The items in the store are curated well and we have had very few items not live up to our expectations. If of they don't, you can return them without any hassle. The food court is great and so cheap. Tons of merchandise for sale in the store. Big open aisle which was good because it was crowded. Tons of stuff, but a small number of choices of each item and all in very large quantities. My son was shopping to head back to college and he thought many of the sizes were too large and so he didn't get them. They had sample carts all over with some good and bad things to taste. We really didn't come in contact with anyone other than the people at the doors checking our membership cards. read more

This is my favorite Costco location, it seems bigger and less crowded than some of the other locations. I can get in and out quicker here, the aisles are less congested and checkout lines are shorter. I love how friendly and helpful the employees are, and it is easy to find assistance when you have a question or need help loading something heavy or bulky. Costco carries a wide variety of cheeses, including varieties that you see in the cheese shop section of grocery stores. The prices are much more reasonable here. I also like the fresh produce section, and I seldom make it out the door without visiting the bakery department. There is a good selection of beer and wine, and prices are decent. I always look forward to the seasonal merchandise. It's the best place to buy bags of garden soil, grass seed, patio furniture, and much more. Gas prices are always the cheapest around. Even if gas is the only thing you ever buy at Costco the savings will more than pay for an annual membership. Terrible service in the tire center. Don't believe anything they say. They will play games with appointments and lie until you that they're still working on your car when they have overbooked or in front of you. I went there after calling to check that my tire was in stock. I have to confirm confirming that they have the inventory, I told them that I was on the way to get my car fixed inventory. My experience is that this is a mid Costco. Don't get me wrong, Costco is incredible but in my experience the other locations in the area are much better. The food court is kind of a disaster just like the parking lot. Way too crammed for the crowd. It might actually just be that Costco needs to expand the location. I have not always been a bulk shopper, but this has definitely improved my life. I love that I can buy like 3x what I would normally get and pay such a good price! Then I can just freeze anything I won't get too immediately and avoid going to the store for a much longer time. The groceries are always stocked and everything looks pretty fresh. I will warn, CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATE!! I have myself made the mistake of grabbing the biggest bag of broccoli I've ever seen and it's best by date was the day after I bought it. So that was a bummer, but I definitely learned my lesson. I love getting doggo supplies here too! My pups love the Kirkland Dental treats and anything else I decide to get that trip. She scanned her membership card in the mean time Felicia bagger horrible attitude drama queen is THROWING items in the carts. I scanned my cc for payment (member of Sam's Club 20+ years that's allowed) Felicia instead of doing her job runs and tell Maggie an alleged supervisor (the knowledge & maturity she lacks greatly, uninformed about providing great customer experience) causes a huge scene because I tried using my cc in which said see cashier so did not go through because only member can pay. Felicia not minding her own business and doing her job so she throws items in carts mixing orders up. Highly frustrating, I asked for a manager was denied. Treatment was totally unnecessary, after that altercation over trivial issue I will continue never being a member. Look at the bagger's name if it is Felicia, get in a other lane. She either hates people or her job, others have commented on her behavior and attitude as well. My friend tried to place a complaint with Maggie but she advised she would not do so. Many things rotate seasonally and some are just one time, so over time you get a feel for what you can rely on being in stock They offer services.... I haven't tried any... Photo, heading aids, pharmacy, etc ... I have tried purchasing appliances and I would not recommend doing that online with delivery ... It might be different if you deal with it in store. The warranty, return policy, brands and prices are great. This specific location is a bit busier than others in the area, but still Costco makes me happy... Even though I spent way too much money. I joined Costco shortly before returning to work following an extended health-related absence that resulted in the loss of my left leg. While it took nearly 4 months to build strength and re-learn daily life, one of the things that has continued to be difficult is simply putting gas in my car. I learned from a friend that Costco is willing to pump gas for those with disabilities - the exact procedure is posted on their gas pumps as it occurs between certain hours and simply involves pulling up to a pump and tapping on your horn. Costco has both individual and business memberships with both types of memberships having two different levels priced at either $60 or $120 annually. The difference is essentially additional perks for the higher priced membership. The higher individual membership offers 2% back on certain purchases along with extra benefits, while the higher priced business membership has both of those perks plus the ability to add additional people to the membership and to purchase memberships for resale. By now, I think most people know the basic deal about Costco. It's a membership only wholesaler with an emphasis on selling goods in bulk or large quantities. As a person who is single, thus not very often needing bulk, I must admit that I have long hesitated to try a membership. However, between the availability of certain items, the option of having gas pumped (and usually significantly lower in price), and extra services like travel, optical, home repair, and others I decided I could likely justify the $60 annual fee. First off, I'll note that I've used the gas service twice now and it worked perfectly. I pulled up to a pump - in both cases, it happened to be the same employee. He was incredibly friendly and very careful about confidentiality of my credit/debit card. As we're currently in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, I also noticed they were actively cleaning the pumps off after each use. The hours they will pump gas for a person with a disability are generous and they are super friendly about it. In terms of in-store, the atmosphere is essentially a huge warehouse that is fairly well organized. The down side - if you're someone who wants the same specific brands all the time, you may find yourself disappointed. Because you're basically dealing with wholesale options, brands come and go here. Some are fairly consistent, of course. Plus, the in-house Kirkland brand, which is generally high quality, is pretty much always available. However, if you think "I have to have this type of cookie" you may find times it's not there. Because prices are in bulk, I sometimes felt like actual "savings" was questionable for a single person for me. For example, I bought a 16-pack of hot dog buns. I quickly learned I couldn't possibly go through them all before they were stale and, as such, I really spent more on buns than if I'd simply bought my usual 8-pack somewhere else. However, for bigger families or organizations there can definitely be savings. They have regular e-mails, if you sign up, that can clue you in on the most recent specials and sales and invite you to special deals quickly. I've noticed one cool factor - a lot of the prices quoted online actually include delivery (though be aware - you can sometimes get a lower price in-store). I really only bought a handful of items during my initial visit including some cleaning supplies that were a pretty decent deal. As is often noted, Costco typically has lots of samples but this is on hold right now due to COVID-19. Employees are for the most part friendly and helpful and as a mass wholesaler they are often good during times like this when some supplies are limited. When the initial COVID rush happened, they were packed but they quickly adjusted how they operated and their crowd management has been beautiful. While I can't say this is going to be anything like a weekly stop for me, other than maybe for gas, it's easily worth the $60 annual fee and really solved a huge problem for me with the gas issue. For families, organizations, and businesses, I definitely see a strong benefit here. Individuals, on the other hand, will need to decide for themselves if the membership is cost-effective. read more

Having a Costco nearby was actually a huge help during the holidays, even though it is a complete and total madhouse that is not something you just browse leisurely in and grab stuff at a slow pace. On weekends and holidays, you have to have a specific mindset to be a Costco shopper. You need to grab a cart, have a list (either mental list or on paper), head to those items, GRAB THEM BEFORE SOMEBODY ELSE DOES, and get to check out ASAP! No browsing. No "oh look at this" or "I want to go down this isle to see if they have X". That is just a recipe for disaster. You will get stuck behind the convenience store owner who forgot to order soda this week and is buying out the store. Or the north side snobs who are re-stocking their mini-bar with every alcohol known to man. So uh...where was I? Oh yeah, holiday time for me. I came in several times during my several holidays to grab cookies or other baked goods and they were all big hits. The guy who I usually go to for check out recognizes me. Ok, he recognizes my service dog and by proxy recognizes me. But I digress. The hot dogs are $1.50 with a drink and they are fairly delicious. So what is keeping me from giving a 5th star? Two things: Costco will discontinue a product you love at the drop of a hat. They have been out of this delicious chicken tikka masala that I love. In fact, they still have the nerve to stock the garlic naan near where the tikka masala used to be. You fall in love with a product and then they take it away. And the parking lot. There is nothing resembling a crosswalk or any type of designated crossing area. And this just makes no sense since Costco has this huge lot pretty much to themselves with no nearby development. Even that horrible Kroger at Nora has designated areas for walking into the store. But they still stock my rice milk and organic bananas. So I'll keep coming. read more

Another stop in my action packed day was to Costco with my friend. I used to have a membership many years ago - but it's been a long time. I accompanied my friend with main objective of purchasing frozen salmon. Over an hour later; having looked at furniture, clothing, of course food, and sampled many food items my receipt was checked on my way out to confirm my items were paid for. I got my salmon and was able to restrain from SEVERAL impulse buys and limit myself to a delicious specialty cheese (a gentleman was passing out samples), salmon, fresh raw shrimp (the fresh seafood is on display today being Friday), and tuna my friend raved about. I felt successful in not succumbing to numerous impulse buys - the reason why I DON'T have a membership. However there is no denying there are many great deals to take advantage of! read more

This COSTCO is not terribly old, it keeps the facility up, anyway. It has been years that I've not had my member card with me and went to Membership to get a temp /day pass to do a little shopping for Christmas. The lady at the desk (one of four positions) was just barely short of being rude. She acted as if I was coming in weekly without my card. She warned me that I had to go online now and do some unexplained actions on my account and said, "I'll be checking the next time you come to this desk to see if you've gone online ..." and did something, but didn't say what. I wasn't impressed with her attitude or complete lack of Customer Appreciation. Why go to a company where it'd so crowded there are no shopping carts available, but have to wait for an employee to bring in the carts? Or go to get two very needed prescriptions and there's tens of people ahead in line (I stopped counting at 40) and couldn't afford the 30 minute wait to just talk to someone behind the counter. It's getting to be not worth it. At $120/yr for dues and be treated like this? Not good at all. read more

Okay, I have to admit. I love Costco, no I LOVE Costco. If you can find it in the store, thrown it in the cart, and take it up to the check out you almost always have a deal. I buy paper products (toilet paper and paper towels) in bulk because they are much less expensive. Staple food items (can goods), fresh fruit and veggies, tires, microwaves, flour, and other random cool things I find there. They have a good variety of wine, some beer, and liquor at good prices. And don't forget the GAS at great prices! I also appreciate how helpful their employees are when you have questions or need help. When we are on a road trip, we look for Costco gas station whenever they are available. As a Costco member I have found that they have among the lowest prices. While they are not always the lowest, they are always competitively priced and often can be 10 to 20 cents per gallon lower. This one is located a short drive off the Interstate highway and might be a little challenging to find without a GPS. But once you do find it it has the usual layout where traffic is one way in and one way out. The other feature is that the gas hoses are long enough to reach for either left or right side fill and have retractable hoses so they don't get tangled.
