    Costco
    Nicole S.

Updating my review of this Costco, because my last one was written six years ago and was short and lame. I've had a change of heart about Costco in general these past six years. I used to grumble about the fact that I had to show my membership card at the entrance and my receipt at the exit, and that I had to pay by debit card. But all of the benefits of Costco outweigh these hoops that you need to jump through as a member. Honestly, these things don't even register anymore. Costco is great and I'm officially a Costco apologist. Have you seen the size of their pizza slices and the fact that they're only $1.99? I mean, come on. If you're a wine enthusiast, this Castleton location is worth visiting to chat with the wine guy here. I see him in the wine section every time I visit that area, and he's always up for sharing his wine wisdom and recommendations. He even turned me on to a wine app that's great for logging wines and discovering new ones (Vivino)! He is a wealth of knowledge, so if you're looking for something specific or just want to try a new wine and need some advice, seek him out the next time you're here. He's given me so many good recs! I love the layout of this Costco the most of all of the Costcos I've visited in central Indiana. It just makes sense to me. I just wish the sample carts weren't posted up right at the entrance to the aisles, because people be people and block the aisles. And then here I come with my annoyed-a$$ attitude asking them to get out of the way. The struggle is real at Costco when the samples are out, you feel me? You wanted to know what my go-to Costco purchases are at this Castleton Costco? Thanks for asking! I can usually find most of my favorite frozen foods, like frozen tilapia, broccoli, mixed tropical fruit, organic blueberries and sweet cherries. Then I also get parchment paper (Kirkland parchment is amazing), almond butter, almond milk, sardines, real maple syrup and coconut water. I can find these things almost all of the time here at this Costco, which is nice because Costco tends to keep it interesting by switching things up sometimes. Like all of the Costcos, you now have to scan your membership card before you enter. It's another hoop you need to jump through, but Costco got me by the cojones at this point, so I'm fine to oblige.

Paper towels for days! Actually, weeks

Costco has been written about and reviewed extensively. And its fans are diehard. But please allow me to throw my thoughts into the ring for your humble consideration. I used to be against buying in bulk. Really? Do I need a year's supply of trash bags? And enough grapes to start my own winery? (Well, maybe!) I remember when Walmart started selling groceries and became "Super Walmarts". I just kept thinking, "Who in their right mind would want to buy jeans where they also purchase bananas and milk?" Fast forward a few decades and three kids later, and Kirkland has me in a stranglehold. I'll take some trail mix, spiced rum, golf gloves, and a comfy t-shirt, please! Add the rotisserie chickens and hot dogs and you can stick a fork in me 'cause I'm done! (Remember when rotisserie chickens first hit grocery stories? Effing gourmet type shiz. Now they look like overcooked, freeze-dried leftovers. But Costco still has those gourmet rotisseries. Those little chickies alone are worth the trip!). Speaking of which, I swear the toilet paper and paper towels are worth the price of membership. A family of 5 goes through so many paper goods! I hated always feeling like I was going to the store to get more toilet paper. Like, is someone in my family TP'ing the neighbors and not inviting me?! I love Costco paper goods. Best value around! So, whether you need some great discounted alcohol, new tires, fresh fruit, or the best dang birthday cakes around, join the Costco mafia! For real. Just don't crack open that booze with your hot dog while you wait for your tires!

Costco Gas and I did not go into the warehouse today. I would make a separate business, as the gas station operates different hours than the warehouse, but I know Yelp would just merge them together. So here we are. The gas station is physically separate from the warehouse. It's super easy to use with four lanes of pumps. And the hoses are extra long so unless you have a large vehicle like a minivan or a pickup truck, you can use the pump on either side. Me, I have to use a specific side for the Sprinter van which gets frustrating. Membership in Costco is required to use the pumps - you scan your membership card first. Then payment and they don't take Amex. But you can definitely enjoy the cheap fuel! [Review 1305 of 2024 - 182 in Indiana - 22328 overall]

Membership is required but if it is convenient enough to you, the shopping experience is excellent. The items in the store are curated well and we have had very few items not live up to our expectations. If of they don't, you can return them without any hassle. The food court is great and so cheap. Tons of merchandise for sale in the store. Big open aisle which was good because it was crowded. Tons of stuff, but a small number of choices of each item and all in very large quantities. My son was shopping to head back to college and he thought many of the sizes were too large and so he didn't get them. They had sample carts all over with some good and bad things to taste. We really didn't come in contact with anyone other than the people at the doors checking our membership cards.

Much Love to Ms. April who literally scanned all my items for me to quickly get my purchases done!!!

My experience is that this is a mid Costco. Don't get me wrong, Costco is incredible but in my experience the other locations in the area are much better. The food court is kind of a disaster just like the parking lot. Way too crammed for the crowd. It might actually just be that Costco needs to expand the location. I still drop way too much money here regardless.

The new chocolate cookie IS SO GOOD!!!!!! It was ready quick and so warm, big, and fresh! This cookie beats any other cookie. Now I'm gonna have to get a cookie every time I shop at Costco

Still a great place for gas

I have used Costco gas in many places across the country and at this particular place It was clean and well attended with staff a available to help you in no matter what type of situation you may need. Costco in general has very good covid-19 practices in all their staff were masked as well. The quality of the gas is excellent especially for the price point that they ask for and if you need to use premium gas it's a really good value. I recommend using Costco not only for the quality of their goods and their gas but how they treat their staff and give them a livable wage with healthcare and benefits I always want to support a large retail Box store that does that type of thing

Hotdog, I swear they got bigger but are still the same price!
    Brittany S.

Costco and I have a love hate relationship because I love going but I always spend way too much money when I go! I try to stick to the list but that hardly ever happens. Love the samples and the kind staff. Can't beat the $1.50 hotdog and drink...best deal in town

Best, huuuuge hotdogs and unlimited soda refills combo for $1.50! #yum #ReviewsByRL

Furniture reviews, it would seem, fall into this description. When you have a bad experience, you want to share it because someone has been messing with your home. While you may want to share a good experience, for the most part when it comes to furniture we "expect" a good experience and giving us one feels like it's just the way it should be. There are several national furniture brands that have scathing ratings yet they are "popular." Clearly, those having good experiences simply aren't writing the reviews. Bob's Discount Furniture and Mattress Store is exactly what you expect - a discount option for home furniture and mattress needs. I'd visited a couple of times before, however, had never actually bought here until recently when a friend visited the Castleton Bob's while helping me get a guest bedroom set up to help support me as I recover from recent health issues. This is located in the same strip center as Castleton's Ale Emporium. It's a huge, brightly decorated location. As I'm a bit older, Bob's makes me think of Value City - a place where I bought a lot of my affordable, moderate quality furniture when I first started out independently. It's not a great place. It's for the most part not an awful place. It's the place someone goes who has to be budget conscious, or who wants to, when getting furniture. My friend visited here while I was in the hospital and she and I and the sales person consulted back and forth. While my friend is a lifelong friend, shopping to meet the needs of a person with a disability is somewhat different and Bob's adapted well each time I would provide feedback on needs. We were looking primarily at beds for a small bedroom. We considered a few options, however, kept things very simple. Because the bed could end up being mine at some point, we also considered accessibility. So, the basics of the experience: The sales person was friendly, helpful, and honest about limitations (for example, at one point we were looking at a reclining option with my new limitations. This sales person would acknowledge when that feature would and would not be available). We eventually found what we wanted, made the sale, took part with us, and had the rest delivered. We were assigned a delivery window and instructed that an adult with ID had to be home. Additionally, they will wait 15 minutes upon arrival - after that, they leave and you will need to reschedule. This is no-nonsense, however, it's also explained up front. As I'm limited to home right now (I just got discharged from the hospital), it was easy to ensure someone would be here. I got an e-mail the morning of delivery giving me an expected window. That said, it could be earlier. Our delivery arrived a bit earlier. I had my ID, though it was never checked. The delivery people were friendly, efficient, and set everything up (we'd signed up for this). They took packaging with them. The set-up is a solid, entry level bed. It's moderate quality. I sure don't expect it to last long-term, however, it meets my need now. 5 star? Oh heavens no. I initially thought a 3-star was fair, however, I honestly can't think of anything that was truly wrong here. I really just consider this a solid experience with solid sales, a decent price, on time delivery, and good communication. For those needing a budget option for furniture with an experience that matches, Bob's offers it. I have not dealt with customer service post-sale as I've not had the need. However, given my recent stress around health I really appreciate that Bob's offered a low-stress purchase experience.

I've driven by the Bakery, so many times and wanted to stop, but I was always in a hurry. My sister and I went in and we each got a dessert and because it was four in the afternoon, we got decaffeinated coffee. The refills were free and we sat at the little counter like we were at a diner and enjoyed everything about this iconic little bakery. The decor is a eclectic. We just took our time and looked around and laughed at so many signs and odd little things that were placed over the years. On the way to the ladies room, you will find out that the gentleman that started the restaurant fought in one of the world wars, and you will see his worn out shoes, his uniforms, his letters of accommodation and Learn his story. Now let's get to the desserts. We shared some type of a wonderful lemon pastry and a black forest cake. Best black forest cake I've ever had. Savored every bite. We were able to buy the last of the springle's that they had made from Christmas. FYI, if you don't like black licorice don't buy Springerle's but you can only get them at Christmas because it's a German tradition and they won't work in the summertime because of the humidity.
