We 3 did figure out what to do and gassed up our rental car, line wasn't long either. 5 stars so far. Our friend paid with her Costco card ... but noticed a charge on her card later - a pre-charge or something... in Addition to the gas Cost.... Good selection, almost good service but there was particularly one snobby self righteous younger employee lady behind returns that was being high n mighty and rude to us for returning a bag of frozen scallops that we had JUST walked out with. They were charging 40 pounds for a small bag of frozen scallops. And when her own supervisor gave us the ok, she was still trying to argue and say they shouldn't take it cuz it'll be a loss for them. Costco is an American chain which washed up on the sunny shores of Spring burn some years ago. I've been lucky enough to come here with my mum & her trade card for years. There're some truly ridiculous things on offer, aimed more at the business owner than private consumer. Why come to Costco then? Well if you have the storage space there are some real bargains and great savings on bulk packs of everyday items. Costco's own Kirkland brand serves up good savings on things like baked goods, coffee, nuts, oil etc. Some of their range includes fair trade & organic items. Besides crates of soda, multipacks of toilet roll etc you can also make decent savings on books, clothing, electrical items & homeware. Of course it goes without saying that you can buy giant cakes, crates of buckfast & everything else you'd want for a birthday party (you can probably even buy the marquee). In store you can also order larger items like carpets, beds, garage doors etc for delivery. Once you've done the rounds & paid, you end up face to face with the cafe, which offers food & drink at very reasonable prices. Bargains include refillable soda at 80p, hot dog (including aforementioned soda) for £1.50 as well as giant NY style pizza slices for £1.65. Decide for yourself whether it's worth queueing for. All in all I love occasional trips to Costco to stock up on essentials & before the festive periods, which is when a membership really pays off. read more

The first thing I should mention is that you need to be a member to shop here. If you aren't clever enough to marry a man who's mother is wonderful enough to put you on her card then I think it costs around £30 for a year. Inside it sells everything from HUGE tvs to sushi. The Christmas department is spectacular in not only the kitchness but also the fact that it normally starts creeping into the store in late August and when I finally admit defeat and start thinking about Christmas shopping (20th December) all I can find is garden furniture and lilos. It is a wholesalers so don't expect anything to come in small quantities - chicken breasts are sold in packs of 20s, the packs of loo roll fill the trollies and if you can use that much double cream before the best before date then I hope you have the cardiology unit on standby for your triple heart bypass! This visit we left with plastic storage boxes for the loft - yep the reorganisation of chez Macp continues, a combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector and a Johnstons Baby Caddy containing all the smellies. Unfortunately, I restrained myself and couldn't find a way to justify buying the green dinosaur sheet cake for £13 or persuade g that the wooden Wendy house would fit into the back of the car. read more

I personally dont have a costco card but my boyfriend does so i regularly accompany him on his wee trips and i have to say i quite enjoy a wander round costco. There is a huge amount of parking but it can be quite hard getting out of the car park if turning right at peak time. 9 times out of 10 then are food samples to be had whilst you are wandering around the store of all different types which is fab. I noticed recently that there is an opticians instore and also a car tyre place. The tyre prices look quite reasonable too. Plenty public toilets and a cash machine too. There is a little cafe that actually does quite nice food. Its not gourmet but its cheap and cheerful so always nice to stop in once done with shopping. Membership is £25 for the year and you have to bring proof of what organisation you belong to in order to qualify for membership. I personally wouldnt buy one but i have no need too since i can blag a trip with the bf when he goes! read more

Normally when I have to obtain a membership card to enter a club or shop, I see it as a badge of honour. But this place is filled with people who if they belonged to club, you would not want to join. The "people who buy things in bulk". The items for sale at Costco appear to have been hit with the same ray that transformed a mild mannered Bruce Banner into the Hulk. Why does someone, who does not run a summer camp, need to buy 10 kilo box of cereal? The meat is sold by the herd. If you are not a shopkeeper, then the reason for you to go here was completely mysterious to me. Then I found two things. Most of the items are just too huge but my wife and I go through enough purple grape juice and I am a sucker for a decent pretzel. So we go and pick the silo of San Francisco Sourdough Pretzels and the tanker of Paul Newman's Purple grape juice. I just think that Scottish homes are not large enough to accomodate the packages that this stuff comes in. Is it cheap? definitely. And for the most part it is the same stuff you could get at a supermarket, just ten times more of it. Handy Hint - Seasoned Costco goers will have their receipt at the ready when they approach the exit. Don't start rummaging through your pockets when the guy wanrts to check your cart. Sooo, I admit it. I'm sometimes a Costco shopper. I don't own a shop or restaurant; I'm just a woman on a budget. Sometimes you just have to get 50 gazillion toilet papers for a tenner (I actually haven't had to buy loo roll for a year thanks to some crazy deal like that). Sometimes you just have to buy a lot of buffet food, or get an enormous container of Very Lazy Garlic which lasts forever and makes life a bit easier. A lot of stuff that you can buy here probably shouldn't be purchased by the average singleton in a single occupancy flat, but there are also lots of things you can get that will make your budget go farther. It's a strange sort of experience, sort of like shopping in an aircraft hanger filled to the rafters with cases and cases of foodstuffs, alcoholic beverages and homewares as far as the eye can see. There's a butcher, a baker, but no candlestick maker... though you can buy candles as well. I do use their opticians for getting my prescription, as my own optician charge a fortune every time I need the lenses changing. There's also a photography section, and a place to buy tires for your vehicle. The electronics section always has my magpie senses tingling on high alert, but I've yet to purchase from that section. My parents did get an excellent deal on a huge and energy efficient fridge, though. Fantastic stuff. I once bought a set of six Global knives here for £160, each knife worth anywhere from £75 to £150 on their own. Tis definitely worth a look, but you do need a membership or to borrow someone who has one in order to shop here. To get your very own, you either need to own your own business (including taxi driver) or work in various civil service sectors, but some companies also have also negotiated to get their staff on the list too. Also worthy of note is their ENORMOUS, mouthwatering pizza! Buy it by the slice or the whole pie. Nom. ^^ read more

Being a member at Costco is probably like being part of a secret clan like the Masons. You don't really know what you're missing till you've been, and then you can't be without it! From parking up in the XXL bays, to picking up a comedically large shopping trolley and entering the temple of TVs, everything here is on a grand scale. There are plenty of bargains to be found, but even the stuff that seems about the same price or even dearer than a supermarket, is guaranteed to be top quality. If I were running a pub or somewhere selling food, I'd buy my ingredients here for sure. They also have an opticians department where you can pick up some great bargains. I recently got two pairs of Ray bans (both prescription) for just £200! When your gargantuan trolley can squeeze in no more, there's an array of cheap and tasty hot food to set you up for your journey home. Top tip, you can get two toppings on your jack ate potato (£1.50). Cheese and chilli all the way!!! read more

Have to ask - who described Costco under pound shops? It is anything but and coming here will seriously deplete your bank account. I've had a Costco membership for years. I don't use it all the time but it is worth it. So, you have to buy in bulk but as long as you have storage space, it is fab! You can go a bit mental though as there are always fab deals on so being disciplined whilst shopping helps, though I've yet to manage that ;) All the brands are here, as well as an opticians, tyre place (def. worth a visit if you need new tyres!), bakery, butchers, fresh food (ready meal) section. Produce is such good quality - butcher meat is butchers rather than supermarket quality. Great to come if you are having a party - perfect for food, cakes are meant to be awesome and the fresh food for buffets is amazing. So yep, love Costco and so not a pound shop! read more

Glasgow Costco has so much stuff compared to the Edinburgh one. Still like all Costco's there are endless aisles of Jumbo sized items that you never dreamed you could get so large... like mayo jars the size of ones head! We love Costco for the fresh meats, especially the fresh salmon. We shop at Costco about every two months and stock up on large essentials ... like 24 rolls of toilet paper for £10 . I love it when all the sample tables are out and you can just walk about and practically have your tea... Oh also there are great food pre made and ready to go home with you... not a paper there are tons of baked cakes and goods, freshly made that are just screaming to go home with you and for so cheap! ITs hard to resist. Which is why we don't haha. read more

Costco's the shop of dream's. Firstly this a great shop to go to and has everything that you will ever need. Secondly make sure you have room at your home of flat as you will have to buy in bulk, handy if you knew of someone who also wanted to go for a big shop and split the items between two. And thirdly don't eat before you go there as they give free samples on weekdays, they do have a sort of canteen where you can have something to eat and drink the juice is refillable so my tip is once you arrive get yourself a juice and you can have a free refill before you go, They do pizzas and you could purchase a 18 incher for something daft like £7.99 and could easily feed 4 people in glasgow city centre it costs £9.00 for a 9 inch pizza cosco's is great value. read more

I'm a sucker for Costco! They sell so many great things, yes some might be in MASSIVE portions but to be honest I can cope with a bit too much cake or freeze some bagels when I'm getting things for such a great price. Yes for some items you need to make sure you are reading the VAT inclusive price (the smaller price on the ticket) but food, kids clothes, kids books etc. are all sold VAT free. Best items to buy for biggest savings are: cans of fizzy pop (including the super yummy San Pellegrino fruit juices), toilet roll and bakery products. The hot food takeaway is better than IKEA! You can get massive jacket spuds with a mountain of topping for £1.50 or a pizza slice the size of your head. We often get a whole pizza to take away, at £6.99 it's too big for the two of us....which means pizza leftovers the next day :) read more

This place is like home. What can you really say about this place except WOW! Everything is American sized and amazing. Popped in here with some friends to have a nosey around and boy am I glad we did. Just walking in, the smell of tires and bulk goods makes me think of all the times my family and I went in to Sam's Club (like Costco, but owned by Walmart in the states) and the massive amounts of goods purchased! We were just looking around, but I ended up leaving with a jacket for the autumn weather and a few books for my niece and nephew. All total bargains and totally worth the price. There really is everything you could ever imagine here from TVs to tires to booze, frozen goods and ready to eat foods. There is a bakery and a butcher and loads of basic staples for your cupboards. The isles are huge and so are the bulk items! The prices are great and totally worth the membership. Their hot dogs are also delicious and for £1.50 you can get a hot dog and a refillable drink. Yum! I really want to go back because there are so many other things I wish I have bought but didn't. I can't wait to go back! read more

Costco is one of these places it is great to pickup certain products for home in bulk. Some things are very good value and others not so much. Keep your eye on the price and remember to add the VAT to the applicable products. On the plus side the cafe is very good value for money but normally has a massive queue because of it. Don't ever visit if you are in a rush as you will have to queue to make your purchases far longer than you expect. Staff are ok but seem a little de-motivated. Lots of bits to sample around the store if that is your type of thing. read more

I'm not a business owner, I just shop at Costco as a consumer. You won't get your full shopping list in here but it's great for big savings on things you buy in bulk/bigger pack sizes, at trade prices! Also ideal for catering for parties as there are large packs of salads, snack foods, cakes, etc. There are other goods too from TVs and washing machines to bouncy castles and all manner of things aimed at trade customers, especially around seasonal times like Christmas! I love a visit to Costco From their free tasters, the sushi platers, water and fizzy drinks and great prices and 24 potato scones for £1.50 There is plenty of selection for the average multi by shopper like me I'm not there to stock up my business or make money. I am there to save mine and stock up my fridge I tend to shop only for food and drink, sometimes toiletries and gifts I cannot comment on how great the electrical deals are, I see huge TVs with huge prices of up to £10k I'm not sure I want to know if £10k is good for a tv Most of the team are helpful, you do get the occasional one having a bad day so growl to all the shoppers The car park on busier times is a joke, long queues of cars trying to turn right going out when it is clearly easier to turn left and use the roundabout... They even put a sign up to tell you .... If you are one of those people turning right well I salute you for being a moron I think I'm only about £18 for a membership, not sure though..... Massive cash and carry open to Trade and certain individuals (you have to work in certain areas eg banks etc). Have a fantastic bakery section and make massive cakes for about £10, they are so amazing the sponge is light and the thick butter icing just melts in your mouth. The choc fudge cake is to die for! Wide range of products, they often provide samples. The products alll come in large sizes so good for stocking up but not so good if you dont have a lot of storage. Well worth the membership fee if you have many mouths to feed and need to buy in bulk. Some things are better deals than others - alcohol is cheaper than in the supermarkets, as are juice, toilet roll and printer cartridges are a fraction of the price. They have a superb range of electrical goods - TVs, PCs, laptops, washing machines, fridges etc and they have a good warranty policy - not sure of the exact deatils but they are better than some high street retailers. You can also try out some food as they usually have mini stalls with small samples to give away - a great way to try before you buy. I don't think it is really worth spending £30 to join Costco, and you have to work in certain jobs to join anyway. I don't find things that much cheaper and you have to buy in bulk. They do have a very good bakery section and there birthday cakes are the best i've ever tasted and are very good value. The cafe is always busy and the food is very good and very cheap (you don't have to join to visit the cafe). The worst thing about it has got to be the people who work there - they are aggressive and rude. They check your receipt when you are leaving and count the items you have bought - don't like this aspect at all. read more

Costco is one of those places where you need to know the value of what you're buying - don't just assume it's cheaper here. Many goods are priced the same as the shops BUT are bigger or better quality here. If you like Mackays ice cream it's about half the price of supermarkets. You need a membership (check their website to see if you're eligible) and there's an annual cost but if you go regularly and purchase wisely you'll make big savings. Located across from Tesco Extra in Springburn, Costco is a large cash and carry type of business. If you go in at the right time they have various samples for you to try. Just about everything is on sale from computers, tv's, and furniture, to fresh food, cakes, clothes, dvd's etc. For large families who need big packs of washing powder, to various others this is worthwhile if you meet the criteria for becoming a member. There is an annual cost, but you can have extra cards added for less than the first one. Cafe provides a small but very tasty selection of food at some of the best prices anywhere. I visited Costco Glasgow today to duy two tyres for thre front of my car when buying the tyres I was told that they would be fitted to the rear of the car and the tyres on the rear would be fitted on the front I explained that the tyres on the rear of the car were almost brand new and I would rather they were left what're they are Costco would not allow that to happen as that was not Costco policy I felt that as it was my car I should be able to choose whare they should de fitted remember the tyres at the rear were almost new so I decided to go else whare the person serving me was abrpt and I left thinking glad I did not want shoes as I hate to think what feet I could wear them on read more
