I have loved this shop since it opened back in November last year. Gutted I missed out on the opening day when the first 1000 customers received a £10 gift card. Was at stuck at work and I couldn't really use this as excuse for time off or could I've?! Hmm?! I did most of my Christmas shopping here, great prices for various well known labels. This store is much bigger than the Sauchiehall Street branch as it's on 3 levels so much more choice. There also used to be a branch in the St Enoch's Centre before the renovation. I was disappointed when it closed but I'm ok now since this Argyle Street branch has opened it's doors. Phew! It's still tidyish compared to the other store but then it's still new, it did get a bit messy at Christmas. Yes it's a store you have to spend time in to find what you looking for so with time on our hands my boyfriend and I headed on in. My best friend's just had a baby boy and I wanted to get something a bit different but useful. It was my man who suggested TK Maxx, so I thought why not. I liked his ploy of let's go straight into the lift at the door so you don't look at any ladies clothing. Hmm?! We headed to the 1st floor where there's crockery and bedding etc but at the back they have shoes, baby/children clothing and toys. We searched for sometime for that something when spookily we both picked up the same item and turned to each other. We'd found what we'd been looking for. It was a storgae box filled with a 13 piece set of clothing and accessories wrapped up as a beautiful gift with blue ribbons 'n' all. I hate clothes shopping. I usually have to be dragged, kicking and screaming, into a shop to buy new clothes. Yet I have come to actually quite like a wee browse round the racks in TK Maxx these days and will usually pop into this one when I'm passing, because you never know when they'll have that special something that's just for you, right? However, this branch never seems to fire my excitement as much as the Sauchiehall Street one, although this is the larger of the two. The ratio of my visits to actual purchases here is pretty low for me. I don't know why, maybe the good stuff just moves faster in this branch? Still, I can't argue with the size of the place and the selection of stuff to browse through. Top tip if you're going to the men's department on the second floor is to forget about the escalators and duck into the lifts, which are right by the main entrance. read more

This TK Maxx is much bigger than the other Glasgow branches, so you'd think it'd be the best? In my opinion , that's very debatable. Ground and half of the first floor is for ladies, the second floor is gents, and the remainder of the first is homeware. They have 2 lifts, stairs and escalators so it's a very accessible store. In terms of clothes, you'll find all sorts of big names at reduced prices. But you need to pretty much know what type of thing you're looking for, otherwise it's like being in a jumble sale. They used to have a huge and awesome tie selection. But now that has been decimated (as it has in all their stores). Recently the gents department had a bit of a redesign, resulting in the checkouts being removed from the second floor. I mean, seriously?! Expect the guys bit to half in size over the next year. Used to be a great shop. Now it just leaves me feeling a bit meh. read more

Please, never make me shop for clothes at TK Maxx. I don't have the strength to rummage through the jumble sale. I've occasionally been walking past the endless racks and happened to spot something wonderful, and that sort of serendipitous find makes it worth going in. On the other hand, the idea of shopping for a specific item of clothing actually scares me a bit. Fortunately, they stock more than just clothes. I've bought many pairs of shoes and trainers here, usually at great prices. For some reason the shoes are much easier to browse than say, the jeans. Likewise, I actually love the home ware section. I'm kind of a sap for home ware. I want cushion covers and picture frames and vases and on and on. They have them all, including weird things you don't expect to find in a high street store and again, at really good prices. Hey, you can even find pretty decent gifts here. Especially if the person you're shopping for likes things like artisanal teas, cute coffee cups or fancy cosmetics. So if, like me, you have a phobia of shopping for clothes here, you shouldn't be put off. It has a lot more to offer. read more

I think the trick about TK Maxx is that you should not actually be looking for something when you are going there, expecting to buy the exact thing you are searching for, but, similarly to a charity shop experience, you should be happy about whatever you found if anything. There are plenty of categories to choose from, including clothing, homeware, bags, shoes, makeup, sometimes even food (coffee/chocolate etc), but the stock changes constantly. I already bought a lot of nice things from training gear to shoe racks, all of them of fairly good quality for the price, and most of them were things I even actually needed, but if there is one specific item that I need to get immediately, I probably will look elsewhere. read more

While I first walked into this TK Maxx location and thought "ooh, the people of Glasgow are lucky. It's huuuuge!" my happiness was short-lived. THEY SHUT OFF ALL THE LIGHTS. Just shut them off while people were shopping throughout the store about 10 minutes prior to the posted closing time. Instead of some sort of normal announcement along the lines of "the store is closing in 10 minutes, please bring your purchases to a till" or whatnot they just shut off all but the emergency lights over all the floors. Being unfamiliar with the layout of the store, I was a bit unsure about how to find the escalators or stairs. Absolutely ridiculous. In addition to a whole bunch of customers being stuck in the dark with no warning, they then began to lock the doors as we were all trying to leave. WTF? Not cool. Generally unsafe and terrible customer service. read more

I must admit, I mainly visit this shop for the housewares section, though I have occasionally braved the clothing and shoe sections, as the store is much better organised than its Sauchiehall Street counterpart. The housewares though - oh my! Firstly, if you've ever coveted Le Creuset cookware, but didn't want to sell a kidney, come here. You may have to be flexible on colour, but it's better than being flexible on number of kidneys. Secondly, they have a not bad choice of notebooks and pads, often better than what supposed stationer WHSmiths can offer you across the street. Thirdly, visit often, as the stock gets changed quite regularly. And fourthly, if you come away empty handed, you will at least have had a satisfying 'aspirational window shop', possibly some houseware inspiration, and probably a chuckle at at least one horrific piece of tat trying to masquerade as 'designer. read more

Like any TK MAXX, getting a bargain here is as much luck as anything else. The rails and shelves are ordered chaotically, and when you do find something it's worth checking the size and condition carefully before purchase. Definitely worth a visit, though. I've saved a fair bit on suits and snowboard kit from here before. OK, you might not get the best or the latest fashions, but you can save a lot of money. They're surprisingly good for cheap books now and again as well, especially boxed sets or shrink-wrapped trilogies. read more

This is one of my moms favourite shops back in the states (called TJ Maxx) and I never really enjoyed shopping here until later on in my adult life when I realised that I could get high end name brand things for a fraction of the price that I would at department stores. My love of TK Maxx only grows every time I step foot in to this shop. My boyfriend and I have been in here more times than I care to mention buying bits and bobs for the flat and most recently, I was in looking for wee jars to house our ever growing supply of bircher muesli ingredients. I found two that were the perfect size, but with TK Maxx, what they have is what they have and as the many signs say, once it's gone, it's gone. So, I bought the two and am hoping to find more at a later date because when I got home with the two jars, I realised that my boyfriend had just bought a few different kind of seeds (on top of the ones we already had), making me feel like we need more jars. HA! The homewares section is obviously my favourite, but I also enjoy rummaging through the coats, and gym items. I bought my winter coat here as well as loads of running tights. The staff are always super friendly and willing to help if need be. The staff at the tills are always super chatty with me, which is nice. I will always be back to TK Maxx! read more

You have to love TK Maxx, it is equal parts fun and frustration, you can spend hours browsing, and then you find a great shirt, just what you have been looking for and it's not in your size. This store is handy for me as it is on Argyle street, decent size and has the usual full range of clothes, lugguage, sunglasses, home were, shoes, etc. So what can I say it's TK's you know what to expect, but I like this one as it seems to have lots of room. read more

Every time I get headphones they break:( my expensive senheizer are playing up, so are my other ones. So I was looking for cheap headphones, as I'm flying to Dublin tonight, then to Brussels from Dublin tomorrow morning. So I needed a new set of headphones that were so loud, that the other passengers, might end up loving rock, metal and the odd Abba, shhhhhh, our secret I went in here and got these bad boys for £5.95. Anyone who knows us Scottish, know we love bargains. I'm well happy. I also noticed when I typed this review, that my last one as for the wrong TKmaxx, ie St Enoch centre. Ah I have a love/hate relationship with TK Maxx. I really need to be in the mood to shop here and this store on Argyle Street is no exception. The ground floor houses all their fashion finds (along with bags) and whilst there are selected items on display, most items are racked up so finding a bargain requires serious rummaging! On this particular visit I wasn't really in the mood to rummage (catching sight of some of the colours/patterns completely put me off) and I headed upstairs.. On the first floor, there are hair/beauty products and homeware accessories. The homeware section is really good (plenty of kitchen utensils), there is a good aisle for pets and their candle selection is bizarre to say the least: Jo Malone rip offs that smell beyond disgusting. And not the best stationery selection at this TK Maxx. But then again, it changes constantly and that is the weirdly wonderful thing about TK Maxx. I don't mind their beauty section though! You can sometimes stumble upon some amazing finds here! If you love nail polish there are usually discounted Essie, Nails Inc and Ciate polishes to be found here, all huddled together. Sometimes the colour range is a bit 'off' and you think 'No wonder they are discounted' but I have managed to find some of the prettiest colours for less than half price. I recently found a pack of 3 Essie polishes (all summer shades, all perfect condition) for £3.00 which was an exciting TK Maxx moment! For beauty and haircare, you can sometimes find some really good brands at discounted items. Although it's not my favourite place to shop for products like these (the packaging isn't always perfect and some of them look like they have been opened and been used a little), there are hidden gems to be found if you have the time, patience and desire to do so. This is my only experience of this TK Maxx and although the store is large, I've not made it passed this point. Staff have always been fine, not overly friendly, just fine. Not my favourite place to shop in the world but if now and again I can find some great nail polish bargains, I'm happy! read more

The mothership has finally opened! It's the biggest Tk in Scotland and is spread over 3 floors. Some great ladieswear pieces with D&G, Pucci, Stella MacCartney to name a few. Homewear section is full of wee granny's wandering around like zombies (like that scene outa Father Ted, when they get lost in the lingere department). The guys section wasn't as full I think they are waiting for more stock. Best to go in on a morning, any later and you will need to sharpen you're elbows! No pet stuff though! read more

I rather this store than the other branch in sauchiehall street everything is more spaced out and tidier. I like to look out for unusual items for my kitchen and often found items here than any shop in glasgow. I don't do rails and have to avoid them at all costs as to me it look's too much like a jumble sale with clothes' strewn across the floor and people trotting all over them. read more

Terrible experience in the women's clothing section on the second floor - I went into the fitting rooms to try on a dress, where there was plenty of way to get in, not a single person stopped me, and there were no signs saying that they were closed. So me and my friend went in, the doors were open, as i said there were no signs that they were closed. After an employee came and told us in a very rude manner that they were not open to the public, to which we apologised and replied politely by telling her that i needed a second to change back into my clothes and would leave ofcourse (to which she did not even reply). Instead, once I had changed back to my clothes and was on my way out, we were attacked by a blonde lady who I assumed could have been the manager, shouting at us without even allowing us to speak, saying that we kept on trying clothes while we knew it wasn't allowed (which did not happen as i was only changing back into my normal clothes but was not even given a chance to explain), and saying that we went in even though we knew it wasn't allowed and that we did not have 'common sense' suggesting that we apparently don't have basic intelligence. After offending us and shouting at us even though we apologised multiple times for what was simply a human mistake and were faced with sarcasm, she didn't even take the clothes from us! (much for covid safety). Not to mention the inadequacy of not even anyone being nearby for a good 25 minutes if not more - not even a single employee - to actually indicate that the fitting rooms were closed (trying to pin their fault on us), while anti-maskers were also roaming around but were never faced with such condescending behaviour, but of course, me and my friend being young immigrant women were told off. Needless to say that we left immediately, didn't buy anything, and are not stepping into that shop again - tk maxx employees (the ones i'm referring to at least) should do a better job at actually ensuring it is a safe place for everyone rather than attack and offend in the most audacious manner some of their once best customers (not anymore). Shopping in TK Maxx is a bit like slipping your hand down the back of your sofa. Now and again you find an absolute treasure, but more often than not you come away empty handed. The joy is never knowing what you're going to get. Leaving aside further Gumpisms I have to say I love the place. I've walked out of here with yellow stickered clobber that should have set me back a fortnight's wages for less than a return to Edinburgh. It's a monthly pilgrimage that triggers my most basic hunter gatherer instincts. read more
