I mainly go here for the 25p Koka noodles (I'm addicted) and the amazing salted tortilla chips they sell. Their home cleaning section is amazing and so much cheaper than normal supermarkets. I bought some toys here for some of my friend's kids too, they always have excellent offers on branded toys. Lots of cheap and weird booze to be found also, always a good stop if you're having folk over or having a party. DVDs, plants, clothes, books, cycling gear... It really is a wee Aladdin's cave. Plus, their card machine is super fast, and you never wait long in a queue, no matter how busy it is. Winner!

Well braehead has a lot going for it…read more First off there's free parking ( even some Electric car charge points ), loads of it, some of it is open to the elements and some is undercover in a multi storey structure so where you want to park depends on your preference and the weather. There are loads of high street name shops in the centre, which covers two floors. The centre has changed a lot since opening years ago, with the food court area changing from an all for one area, with very few well known names, to an area with a few big names with their own designated areas. Many shops have come and gone in the years but there is a good mix and it's definitely worth a visit.

Fifteen years ago Byres Road was full of individual wee shops like this; today it's all coffee emporiums and charity outlets. I discovered Owen Bissett when doing my Christmas shopping in December. It's not the sort of place that would normally attract me, but I was looking for a nice present for my sister, and their window display looked inviting, so I decided to give it a try. I'm so glad I made that decision. The place is a veritable Aladdin's Cave of jewellery, bijoux, craft wares, designer knick-knacks and generally precious things (preeeeccccciouuusssss!). I soon found a lovely bracelet and necklace combo that my sister was delighted with, and would probably have ended up spending a lot more than I wanted to had not common sense kicked in. There's such a wide range of really unusual things in here, it is ideal if you're looking for that 'special gift' or just want a thing of beauty for yourself. I think my favourite items were the glass bowl sculptures with the natural wood stands - these large thick glass works appear to have been melted and poured onto driftwood or tree-branch tripods, so that they have flowed into the perfect shape for the support. I have no idea what I would use one for (and I couldn't afford one anyway), they were just lovely pieces of craftsmanship. A definite thumbs-up for the most original and unusual shop in Hyndland Street, if not the entire West End. Check it out - you're sure to find something you like.

I love, love, love this shop!…read more There are far too many beautiful things in stock, be it little trinkets, unique and interesting jewellery or gorgeous ornaments (and everything else in between), meaning that you'll be tempted to clear your bank account buying everything in sight! There's something here for all budgets, which is a bonus. I bought a gorgeous necklace for myself a while back that people always comment on, and it only cost £10. Regardless of price, you can be assured that whatever you buy will always be top quality. Owen's window displays are always eye-catching and well thought out; I defy you to walk past and not at least stop for a good look! Displays are changed regularly, which is a great way to showcase the wide range of what's on offer. I highly recommend liking the shop on Facebook too, as it's an extension of the window displays. The service is always fantastic, and everyone there is so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. They'll point out things you might like or will leave you to browse the stock without being over-bearing. It's customer service done correctly, and it's refreshing to behold. It's a great place to go and treat yourself or a loved one, be it Christmas, birthdays or just for the sake of it. It's a truly unique store, and it's wonderful to see such a vibrant independent business thrive. I really can't sing the praises of this shop enough!

It is a very true cliche that good things come in small packages, as De Courcys Arcade proves very well nestled in amongst the coffee shops and bars of Cresswell Lane. The upper floor, refurbished and renovated in 2009 plays host to a number of small shops, independent and specialist, which makes shopping here a totally unique experience. At the moment, the top floor is fully shoppable, with Miss Lottie Lou's vintage clothing store, Not Now Cato!, Auntie M's Cake Lounge, Mind the Gap artistic supplies, The Maisonette and Just for you bought and sold vintage clothing. Plenty to get your teeth into. I particularly liked The Maisonette, selling loads of gorgeous and kitsch handmade bits and pieces which would make gorgeous gifts. I even got a doggie birthday card for my Yorkie's 3rd birthday in Mind The Gap! Perfect for a Sunday Afternoon lazy shopping day!

I walked through the store to get to the café and I could see that it was a lot more modern than my local Next. It is so big too, that there is a Costa upstairs on a sort of mezzanine balcony level. The only other Next stores I know of that have a Costa inside is the one under construction at Straiton in Edinburgh and the one at the Trafford Centre. The clothing seems a bit nicer than what I'm used to. In Edinburgh, everything is too samey but in Glasgow, all the clothes in each shop will be different. Anyway, back to this store. It opened a little while ago to replace the old BHS (I think. I'm don't know much about the history of Braehead) and I just cannot imagine frumpy old BHS having a store in this swish location. I know I said that Braehead wasn't my favourite shopping environment (it's either the small shops, the neds or the signage above the upper mall shops) but with this fab store, they could turn their reputation around in my books.

I have picked up DVDs for as little as £2 here, such as classics like Jumanji, My Girl, but for that bargain price I've also bought newer releases such as Step Up, Step Up 2, Madagascar 1 & 2 and Kite Runner. So definitely check out the DVDs here if you're looking for a little boost for you collection I also treated myself to a nice hand blender from here for only £8! Now I can make delicious smoothies for breakfast. Oh and it's also open 24 hours, hurrah!

By ordering online you know if you are going to get the correct size that might not be available instore. By regularly ordering online I get first chance to view the sale and I lkie a bargain. I am a bit of a lazy shopper but I like nice clothes at a reasonable price, good quality and good fit. Tonight I picked up some Wonderfit Jeans, I bought some in Grey last week instore and they are so comfortable. I never been comfortable in Jeans after buying some cropped ones in the Summer I now have new black ones, a new dress for the weekend and a top to match my Jeans all for £33.00

Ortak also offer a wide and impressive range of ornamental and curiosity gifts ideal for many a mantle piece, or shelf, in any home. Ortak's range of silverware is particularly attractive. Whilst you may pay slightly more for some items in Ortak, you a re paying for something that, although still largely mass produced, is a little bit different than is available from the majority of jewellery retailers.

It's very G Star esque and has a fair few big brand names on offer for slightly cheaper prices than on the high street. Although I'm a big fan of the scruffy look, this shop is great for men's fashions that are very much popular, and this outlet is a decent sized space offering a good selection of well made clothes. They even have cool high top style trainers. A shop in an unexpected area for this sort of fashion that deserves a second look - and a third after that!
