Barely worth one star. I walk in almost immediately I'm followed around and looked at by staff as if ive just stolen their Grannys knickers. I'm a hard working guy never been in bother and certainly never shoplifted. Spent an absolute fortune in their other stores (not any more) So I felt extremely uncomfortable and also angry because it's like - how dare you!? The Retail industry wonder why people don't shop like they used too? Tech...yes...Gen X sociophobes who can't deal with people in the flesh only over their phones and an unpleasant security guard staring at you as well as really obvious store detectives making you feel like a criminal. This isn't my favourite TK Maxx in Glasgow - the one in Argyle Street is much larger and has more choice. Still, you never know what bargains you might find here, so it's always worth a quick descent on the escalator to have a quick rummage around. Often I leave with nothing, however on this occasion, I was greeted by rack upon rack of woolly winter wear; not something I was in need of. However, a bit of perseverance eventually brought me to a solitary polo shirt that I liked, that happened to be in my size range, and best of all had a very heavy discount. Happy days. read more

I seem to always have a reason to go to this TK Maxx store, so I guess it must be doing something right to keep me coming back! I think they have a good baby section, both clothes and other baby essentials, but it's hit and miss what stock they have in. They tend to have a few nice new baby sets which are unisex and great for gifts with bright coloured vests, baby grows etc instead of just your usual pink or blue! Their range of baby and toddler sleeping bags is also really good and you can get grobag ones for about £10 less than retail price. The book and toy section is also pretty good, I always find something I want to buy and again find it good for gifts. This area of the store is pretty well set out and organised. I also like the home section, you get some random things(!), but can pick up some good bargains in kitchen items, bedding or towels. Again it's down to luck what they actually have in. I don't tend to shop for clothes for me or other adults in here though, I can't really cope with he chaos of the clothes aisles! In fairness it has improved from how it used to be, if you want some new work out gear for example this is sectioned off so easy to find. For me this shop probably deserves 3 and half stars but it's not quite 4. Well worth a visit if you've got some time to spend looking through the items for what you might need or want. read more

I absolutely love TK Maxx. If you look beyond the chaotic appearance of jumbled up rails and unpaired shoes, you might find something brilliant. My favourite part of this shop is the home section, filled with gorgeous and unusual furnishings from all over the world. Everything is of the highest quality and at up to 70% less that its original price. There are loads of rails of clothing, which can be a little overwhelming, however if you look closer you'll find that everything has its own category and is often in size order to make it a little easier. There are a great selection of fancy dresses and shoes for formal occasions, as well as a massive selection of retro trainers for not so formal occasions. It takes a bit of time, rummaging and determination, but a visit to TK Maxx is always worth it. read more

There's some quality clothes in here, with one of my favourite shirts from in here always attracting a degree of attention that continues to fill me with happiness. The layout is somewhere between Primark and a department store, leaning heavily towards the former. Aside from clothes there are some obscurities in the forms of toys and games and the other sort of products you would expect to find in a department store. If you delve beneath the first impressions of TK Maxx (the clutter and untidiness) it's actually pretty decent - much of what they sell is designer products at half the price which is a pretty good deal in my opinion. It's not your cheaply-made lower quality stuff in here. I've found quite a few dresses in here that people have commented on (positively for those cynics reading) and products like designer make-up brushes (oh-so-soft) just don't go wrong. I also think the toys can be quite unusual and fun in this day and age where toy shops are a rarity. This particular TK Maxx lets itself down though - perhaps due to its popular location and the fact it's always busy but it is somehow much messier than the rest and the layout is poor, poor, poor. No wonder it has a bad name. Go to Silverburn though and you'll see the positives. read more

I think TkMaxx is a bit of a Marmite experience. You either love it or loathe it. With a huge selection of discount gear- clothes for men, kids and women, shoes and accessorises, homewares and kitchen goodies, its great for a good rumble. For clothes I'd say it really is hit or miss. I've picked up a few bargains - good brands at great prices - like my bargain 7 for mankind jeans and my Reiss trousers, but other times I think some of the clothes look a bit dated, and like they've been left too long on the sale rail. I particular like the home section, and you often find some quirky one off items which make me wish I had more room in my house for exotic lamps and chests. I recently bought a wee Buddha ornament which now has pride of place on my bookcase. This store on Sauchiehall Street is near my work so its good for a lunchtime wander and has recently had a revamp. On my most recent visit I picked up some gorgeous storage/ file boxes for my ever expanding calligraphy. The store is also one of the main stockists of Comic relief / red nose day goodies including t-shirts, stationery, tea towels and aprons. I ended up buying a red t-shirt for my mum on this occasion to support the cause. Whilst its a bit of a mismatch of goods at times, I'm definitely in the love it category for Tk Maxx. read more

I do like this store l always find something unusual for my apartment like a knife magnet or Kilner jars there, l can never leave without smelling all the candle selection that they have. the only downside is the dreaded rails l hate them looks like a charity shop on a large scale with clothes strewn everywhere even the floor. There is a knocked down section where you can buy a broken vase for £6.00 why would l or anyone else do that dohh. I love the assorted cushions that they have but feel that its a lucky dip trying to find the other one that matches. read more

I'm so torn by TK Maxx, it used to be a great place full of obscure brands (back then) at affordable prices. Ever since the recession & the chain's expansion, the quality of their clothing has fallen drastically. It's so hit & miss that I often go in on the way to somewhere else, if at all. The Sauchiehall st branch is somewhat of a bunker, and it can be a bit of a trek from the West End or center of town, if you have no other reason to go there. There are still some great bargains to be had, e.g. I've picked up two/three pairs of really rare trainers for under £30. For every bargain, unfortunately, there's a lot of cheap tat which can be a little overpriced for what it is, maybe it's just menswear. Also for some reason their range of jeans seem to be exclusively clown sizes, 38-36 anyone?? Saying that, you can find some really good toiletries brands which are often cheaper than other stores & even online (Dr Bronner's, faith in nature, korres). So perhaps there's hope for you yet TK Maxx.. read more

I don't really like TK Maxx, but I'm a total ho when it comes to ties - TK used to have a great huge selection, but this has reduced to about a quarter of its former size over the past few months. I still pop in now and again and catch the odd bargain but I'd rather go to Debenhams for the larger selection. Guys clothing is on the limited side - like a lot of chains, the point seems to have been missed that dudes actually need clothes too. I've never been able to find anything clotheswise, but I did get a nice vase for a couple of pounds a while back! The staff have always been great any time I've been in. read more

Right, first thing to say is that i have never as of yet been able to find any piece of clothing in this joint that either fits my weird ass frame (they fit my waist but are then about 8 inches too long, or they fit my legs but are wide enough to encompass me, my wife, child, dog, goat, horse and that fat chick who works at my local off license). Add to this strange phenomena the fact that this is a shop a phobic persons own personal nightmare with rail upon rail of stuff that was once in some sort of order but now has all the logic of a stoned ramble and you have a very interesting proposition. Yet wait! Why does thou offer a four stat rating for what has until now been an almost damning indictment of this here store?? Well dear reader, this behemoth of a store has, for me, one very large saving grace and she goes by the name of shoe......s. Fed up paying £50 fooking notes for a pair of trainers, of which the majority are now retro and would have cost you half the relative price when your mum first bought them for you?? Well, get your ass to this place and get the same pair (only last seasons style.....OMG, that's like so last year) for around half the price. Adidas Samba style type shoes, 55 of your earth pounds in Shuh, 25 of the same coinage in this place. By my reckoning that's an extra guilt free £30 to spend in the bar....done and done. read more

If you want to enter the cavernous hole of TK Maxx, you better have some serious time on your hands. Apart from the shoes, which are set out by sizes and therefore very easy to browse, all of the stock is set out in a crazy maze that would make a grown man weep, and would provide excellent coverage if a couple of raptors are chasing you. Jurassic Park aside, the dresses are always a safe bet when you don't want to fork out a fortune for a formal event, and always good quality. Definitely worth the time, but having less of it now, I don't venture down there much anymore. read more

I was here today, and I must admit, I love or did love TKMaxx or as Americans version is called Tjmaxx. I bought Chef Knives last year called Kai. They are made by the Japanese company Shun. They have got the same knives in store 1 year or so later and they are a lot more than they use to be, compared to the price they were. Even the clothes and shoes, you really don't get bargains anymore. They say "always 70% cheaper" that is a lie as type any place on the internet and you'll find that's a lie. I know how the whole thing works. They try and create a brand from cheap brands, then stick real brands between them. So you think you are getting a bargain but really it's a name you have never heard. I also come across things more expensive than other shops. When have you ever seen the likes of a Ralph Lauren top cheap? Never. My advice is. Your store is not as busy as it use to be by far. You give the honest bargains and we will shop more. Good points are. In the catering community, they shop in your store as news travels fast. When you sometimes get the book Larousse Gastronomique. Every chef wants it. Knives you have sold that are popular are the brands that follow Kai Sabatier Global Henkel Vicktronox And if you get hold of Shun then you will sell bucket loads. Other books that are big sellers are by Ferran Adria. Every Chef uses a grater brand called "Microplane" On an end note. The staff are so much more friendlier in the store. TK Maxx is a bit like that girl with a curl in the middle of her forehead; when it's good it's really good but when it's bad it's horrid. (Hopefully some of you will know what I'm on about with that one). I find many TK Maxx stores to be glorified jumble sales rather than treasure troves of underpriced fashion. HOWEVER - Glasgow's Sauchiehall Street store fits into the latter category. It's amazingness may have something to do with the fact that its huge. So huge, in fact, that they had to put it underground! Don't let the elevators put you off though, it only floods occasionally. (That one isn't a joke, sorry...) It has a fabulous homeware section, which often has bits and pieces of furniture interspersed with the frames, crockery, cookware, bedding, blankets and throws. It always has giant queues, though, so make sure that you REALLY want something before you choose to join the queue. read more

I think TK Maxx gets a rather hard deal when it comes to status. Okay, its not the best shop around, heck its not even in the top 20 but it offers you something every other shop that is considered fashionable and trendy doesn't. Value for money. I will hold my hands up high. You are not going to find an item of clothing that will let you walk amongst the stars or 'trip the light fantastic' but you will get a decent bargain. I love nothing more than getting in from a night of work, or a day in the library and pulling on a pair of trackie bottoms. There, I said it. My guilty pleasure. I like Ned clothing. But where will i pick up a nice pair of three stripe trackies from? JJB? Sports Direct? No, as I don't have the money to fork out £30 on a pair of loungers, so I nip into TK Maxx and low and behold I can pick up a nice comfy pair of trackie bottoms for less than a 10er. Bargain. Trainers are the exact same, you can pick up the same stuff in shoe shops and pay over the odds, My advice is always check this place out first. Great for gym gear as well. I called in here yesterday for (I think) the first time. I think I'd walked straight past before because I hadn't noticed the escalator going down to the store. It was much bigger than I'd expected and with a huge clothing range for all the family. The prices were a bit higher than I'd expected (I vaguely remember the one in Cardiff being a cheap place to buy clothes) but there was certainly lots of choice. I was surprised to see a very large homewares department everything from soft furnishings to ornaments. Plenty of gifts too and many very reasonably priced things you might not see elsewhere. Well TK's is legendary! Where else could you pick up a few pieces of McQ along with D&G and some other suspects. It really depends when you go in, through the week is best as I have had to wait 20 mins to buy stuff at weekends. Yes sometimes you go in and it is like a jumble sale and smaller sizes seem to be getting scarce. The trick is to go in with an open mind and you never know what you will find and remember to take your own carriers as they charge for theirs. read more

I'd say about 50% of my (rather sharp) wardrobe is comprised of TKMaxx goods. Although it is a common misconception that searching through the trolleys and trolleys of TK's disproportionate amounts of hawaiian shirts and swimming shorts takes up the majority of your shopping day, it is actually the frustratingly slow staff on the tills. Will you hurry up for goodness sake! I've got people to impress with my new under-priced past-seasonal attire! Always a potential for success, but commitment is needed. read more

Every day is a different day in tk maxx! It sells a very wide range of good quality and designer clothes, footwear, toys and household goods at cheap prices, well beow the recommended retail price. Discounts are typically 20 - 30% off the RRP but sometimes you will discover items that are 50 - 60% off their usual price. Admittedly some stock is from past seasons, and other stock are 'seconds' or slightly imperfect, but the savings outweigh these minor blips. That is part of the beauty of the shop! You really have to check every day as new items seem to arrive all the time. The unpredicatibility is part of the fun - you'll never know what you might find there! read more

Located downstairs off Sauchiehall St it is always worth a look but I rarely visit this store now as it becomes more and more like a jumble sale with each viist. The rails are crammed full and although there is plenty of choice there are some strange styles. I like looking at the handbags - again very obscure and quite pricey. There are some bargains to be had but it requires a lot of effort to find them. read more

For me, TK Maxx is a weird one. We don't get on very often, me and Maxx, but recently, I decided to give him another chance. I rode the huge escalator down his silent, dingy basement, where people were shopping, looking a little lost and grey. I think Maxx had sucked the life out of them. I feel like this about the store a lot. Its so dark and messy, I can't imagine anywhere I would like to work less. Then comes the rails and rails of clothing, almost none of which catches my eye, mainly because jumble sales aren't really my thing. Although, its not all doom and gloom, because TK Maxx does a fantastic line in kiddies clothes, for a fraction of the price you would pay in bigger stores. They also do a great home ware section, although that requires a good rummage as well, and I wasn't desperate enough to do that. I am still not convinced that TX Maxx is the Godsend that people make it out to be, but maybe I haven't given it much of a chance. I'll go back one day when I have a spare 6 hours to rake through the over stocked rails. read more

i love tk maxx for three reasons - cool t-shirts at bargain basement prices, underwear, and socks! however, there are some things that infuriate meinsane queues that snake around the store - not only does it take forever to pay for the kitcsh little star wars tee you found, but your browsing gets interruted by other shoppers jostling for position waiting for the tills. oh, and most of the customers have no idea about the principles of traversing an escalatorfor the final time, WALK ON THE LEFT, STAND ON THE RIGHT!!! read more

How many stars? Well I would give it 6 if I could. I get a buzz from the moment the escalator starts its descent into my perfect shopping destination. Every time you go in there is something different to check out. And every time you can spot a bargain. I am particularly fond of kitchenware, body and bath and sweeties sections, as you can get more unusual stuff and it is easier to browse. However I am also partial to homewares, shoes and even the clothes rails on occasion, although these can be pretty hard going. The thrill of the chase is what keeps me going. read more

This is the biggest free for all in Glasgow. It is not the place to run into if you have five minutes before your bus or train. In order to find a bargain you'll have to trawl through the luminous green snoods and yellow pink and green shell suits. However I would challenge anybody to not find at least one item that they think looks quite good at a reasonable price. The staff aren't all that friendly but it isn't a very specific place to shop. They put items of clothing together and arrange them in size but thats where the similarity stops. The colours clash but it adds to the fun read more

I decided to do some more shopping for home because of the good prices -- some (though not all) of the stuff, incl. brand-name products, I found to be cheaper than online.
