There is one particular lady who works at the membership customer desk, she always flip her name tag to the backside, has the rudest attitude ever. This is a larger store. With the storm that recently went through, people are buying a lot of food that requires refrigeration. There are other storms coming, so I was just looking for non cook food that does not require refrigeration. Workers w were very helpful and answered all of our questions. read more

I'm biased. I love Costco so they would have to really mess up your get less than five stars. Since January Costco's membership has grown at a high rate. For this store that means there isn't really an "off" time. It is always busy. Saturdays are crazy but completely doable. I found a parking spot in the back 40 pretty easily. I need the exercise anyway so I just go ahead and park far away. U know the store really well so I find things easily. That said a but of signage might help new shoppers. I do find that not all things at Costco are a good deal. If you have a large family and need to buy in bulk you'll be fine purchasing here, but not all purchases are good purchases for all people. Example: Panera soup is the same price as Walmart but if you don't plan to go to Walmart why not? Just be a savvy shopper and check pricing. I shop Costco for a lot of reasons and they will always get my dollars before some other stores. read more

After one of my co-workers continued to extol the virtues of Costco and pestered me to buy a membership, I finally did so and visited Costco for the first time. It was... alright. I wouldn't say it failed to meet my expectations, but it didn't necessarily exceed them either. Because the aisles aren't marked and there's no displays, it's very hard to find the products you're looking for. I know that if I keep going I'll be able to figure it out eventually, but it was kind of annoying the first time I went. In addition, it seems like they ONLY sell items in bulk, and I wasn't able to find a single tube of toothpaste like I wanted. The gas was also about the same price as a regular gas station, which was disappointing because I was looking forward to saving money there. The bright spots were definitely the clothing section and the food court. Costco definitely has a lot of high-quality clothing for good prices, and I can't wait to go back and buy some golf shirts and shorts when I need to. In addition, the food court was excellent and well-priced. The food court might be worth the membership itself. I got two great hot dogs and a slice of pizza for about $5, which you can't beat anywhere these days. All in all, it was a solid if unspectacular experience. Whether buying the membership to Costco was worth it remains to be seen, but we shall see. read more

Let's face it, you've been to one Costco you been to them all. This location was fully stocked for the holiday rush and I couldn't be happier. From holiday giftables to snacks and undies and socks. The lines while long were minimal given the staffing was on point and had the crowd in and out with ease. Of course ended up buying things not on my list to the great vendors showcasing the many random items Costco has... lobster and corn chowder and pepper Jack crackers anyone?! The icing on the cake and outlier from other locations.... The mirror in the clothing section..... I don't know the genius behind it but give that person a raise. I can't say the number of times I have been frustrated that I couldn't see the reasonably priced clothing and boom this location saw the problem and fixed it. Love the simple ingenuity to the simple problem. Overall this location was fully stocked with both items and staff, clean and had customers in and out with ease. 10/10 recommend read more

One of the few places where you feel welcome. It is clean. The employees are efficient and friendly. The products are first rate and priced well. The Pharmacy staff, In particular, Is by far the best I have ever dealt with. Our prescriptions are extensive and complicated. You would think we were dealing with a pharmacy where the pharmacist owned it and his staff knew everyone on a first name basis. Who can say that the pharmacy can be the highlight of your day? When in Columbia hosting a campaign fundraiser, I visited this Costco to buy a vegetable tray, fruit, and other snacks for our guests/donors. It's much easier to buy here and then stage/plate the food on your own serving ware than to prepare it and haul it around town. We have Costco in Charleston and Mt. Pleasant, but this store seems bigger than ours. Also, getting here was a bit odd, as I didn't know which way to turn on the roundabout at first. I'm a typical South Carolina bad driver, I guess! On a Wednesday afternoon, the samples were plentiful and workers were cordial. I used the self-checkout, and workers assist you and keep the lines moving. There's a kiosk at the food court to order pizza, hot dogs, and other yummies. The parking lot has air pumps, so you can check your tire pressure and refill your tires if needed, and a QR code on the pump shows you how to use it. The tire pumps at gas stations on the interstate are almost always out of order. The gas prices at Costco are MUCH cheaper, too. I'll be back in Columbia a few more times this year and won't hesitate to return to this Costco. For what it's worth, our guests demolished the 18-pack of cookies, so I'll keep buying those. read more

I've been a Costco member since the one opened up in my hometown. Through thick and thin I have been understanding of different policy changes, however this latest interaction has been the breaking point. The price wasn't the issue, but rather the principle and trust within an organization. Costco has a generous return policy, if you don't like it or want a replacement return it "no matter what." Imagine my surprise when I returned a jacket brand new unopened cost $35 and they offered me a $25 return. Saying "the item is now on sell", and when I informed them well I paid $35 they said they couldn't tell (even though they keep and electronic record of every purchase which is tied to your account). It was bought a month before the sale even started, we have purchase 10s of thousands worth of good and merchandise over the last 3 years alone. The whole reason for a Costco membership was because they were customer focused and had a great return policy. I HIGHLY recommend you think twice before renewing your membership, I have never been more disappointed with an organization in my entire life. If you have a Sam's Club near you I would highly recommend using them as your whole sale club going forward. read more

First trip to Cosco as a guest of a friend. Spent $240.00, but had the rudest and nastiest cashier. An older African American guy, brown skin, short haircut, terrible attitude. I left everything and will never shop Cosco again. It was also my birthday and I was on a shopping spree and enjoying it, traveled from Atlanta, to a terrible shopping experience. I have had a Sam's card for about 25yrs and was going to open a Cosco one as well. Not anymore. So sad, I retired as a retail store Mgr and this guy should be removed from the front end. There was a gas station on site that didn't seem too crowded. Didn't have much interaction with staff but the experience wasn't unpleasant. read more

At first I gave this place 4 stars because despite the small discrepancies I enjoyed the fact that they tried to let me leave with a satisfactory feeling towards the warehouse but considering I drove back home and my check tire pressure light came on and won't go away even when I added air myself is concerning and now I have to pay for a diagnostic at my local shop means that they clearly didn't do a good job on my tires like I hoped. I dont believe I will ever return for auto to this Costco because although they seemed carefree and kind they were actually just carefree and carefree about a It all...what would've happed if I lost a tire on the road with my two little ones??? When we travel, we always look for a Costco. Always the best gas prices and a good cheap lunch are available at every Costco. Customer service staff and cashiers are knowledgeable & friendly as they go out of their way to help. Bathrooms are clean, well maintained, & easy to find. All true here! This was our first time at this Costco. We passed gas stations at $2.19 for regular, but got it for $2.02 here. For pizza, hot dog, and drink, we paid $3.84. We didn't need much in the store, but we walked out with a 48 pack of water, strawberries, and wine for $19. Kim was a fabulous front end cashier! Since Costco is so big, we also got our exercise - 1 mile. Who hoo! read more

I'm reviewing the liquor store section of the property, but the rest gets a big thumbs up too. We're from one of those "state run liquor store" states *coughNCcough* which really means that finding good and well priced booze freaking sucks. So while in town visiting a friend, we stopped in to hit the Costco Liquor store, and we made out like bandits. The prices were fantastic, we get 1.75's for the price of .750's at home, and the staff was super helpful packing our booze for the trip back home. Would definitely stop here again. read more

It supposed to be open at 9:30am. Today many costumers were waiting there in a long line, the doors opened more than 5 minutes late. A lady at the entry was yielding everyone to show the membership card. I wonder can you buy anything without checking out with you membership card. The reason for 1 star is because of their website. It is terrible. Overall I prefer them over Sams. But Sams Website is a thousand times better. I can see if Sams has what I want before I go there. And because of that I use Sams if it's a toss up. Because of their website I now buy all my gas from Sams. Sams seems more customer friendly! read more

I love Costco and go all the time This is specifically for the tire shop at this store. I'm very specific about any parts going on my vehicles and typically buy my tires and then take them to Costco to install. I then pay for rotation and balance for the life of the tires. We happened to be in the area, and I decided to stop in and get my tires rotated and balanced. When I dropped my car off, they said it would be a 2 hour wait which I understood. Thirty minutes later I received a rude phone call from the tire shop insinuating I was trying to have my tires rotated and balanced for free when it was not covered because they weren't Costco tires. I explained to them that I knew that I would have to pay for them and thought they could see that they weren't Costco tires when they checked their computer system...like every other Costco. The tire shop employee stated that I "should have told him that weren't Costco tires" when I dropped it off. Our conversation when I dropped it off was about 3 minutes. I was never asked if they were Costco tires and have never had an issue before. Costco employees always ask me if they have any questions. The Costco stores I usually go to all know me because they love my vehicles and recognize a fellow gear head based on the cars we are driving and the modifications we have done. When I got back to the tire shop, the same employee was confrontational again with me and claimed to know more about my vehicle and the amount of wear and tear my tires had on them. I tried to explain to him that they were installed a little under two years ago, but I just got back from a year plus deployment in Afghanistan. The car is not my only car and was driven on a regular but not daily basis while I was gone. He kept arguing with me stating his false assumptions as facts while I was stating facts and simply trying to get more info about the issue. I'll buy new Z rated tires, but they definitely will not be from Costco. I've never had a bad experience at a Costco tire shop, but I feel a lot better about switching to Sam's after this experience. This was the worst experience I've ever had at any Costco in the dozens I've been to across the US...California, Virginia, Maryland, Texas, the Carolinas, Alabama...anywhere. All the employees here seemed curt, and I'm pretty sure that's why it looked like Costco corporate might have been visiting today. read more

I heard a lot about how great Costco was and always it was just another place looking to make money in "great deals" by suckering people in. I was so wrong! The staff is extremely friendly and the samples are one of the best things you'll experience on top of great prices for buying bulk items. It's great being able to try new things before you buy them to see what you're really getting and some standard grocery stores offer a few things occasionally, but with Costco, there are at least 8-10 samples to try on any given day. They have good prices to starts with but their sales and coupons just make it even better. read more

The grand opening was disappointing. I waited in a long line only to be told o needed to get another form from a table that wasn't labeled. There wasn't any organization at all so I left. I originally was using SAMs club since Costco wasn't here. I absolutely love Costco. My husband and I have been members for a little over 6 months and it is one of our regular stops on Saturdays. We don't buy everything in bulk when it comes to food since its just the two of us but the large selection of items ranging from clothing to home goods allow us to shop for many other things we are in need of. Also, if you don't need to shop just stop by for a SUPER cheap lunch/dinner. Their pizza is great and the portion size is well work the $1.25 you pay per slice. I went into the restroom. While doing my business the lights turned out on me. So I had to get up and walk around the entire bathroom to get the lights back on. And then on top of that the stall had no toilet paper in it. So I had to pull my pants up dirty and all and go find an employee to bring me some toilet paper and then go back in the bathroom and clean up. Horrifying experience. read more
