I am a big fan of Costco, and especially the Camillus, NY store, but whomever they hired to re-arrange the merchandise recently should be fired. Looking for standard stuff like butter, Colgate toothpaste, Stevia packets and other items I not only couldn't find them in their normal locations but couldn't find an employee who knew for sure where they been moved to. [The Kirkland butter is now in the walk-in cold room where they keep the milk. The Crest toothpaste was where it's always been, but the Colgate was on the floor by the coolers where they have products like bacon and hotdogs. I don't remember where I finally found the Stevia, but am determined to only buy it elsewhere in the future.] This is the first time I've visited the store when I don't look forward to going back. read more

Lots of great items. Maybe a little higher end feeling than Sam's club? That being said, Sam's Club has a few more things figured out that Costco could learn from. First, there's no Scan&Go option! The line at the registers was so long! The food area was a mess and so tight and cramped. Not a fan of that. The warm chocolate chip cookie was delicious though! What is not to Love about Costco ? Costco is a good hour drive from my house and we go every now and then. I am a proud Frenchie Pawrent and saw on Social Media a huge stuffed animal Frenchie. Mind you I have seen quite a bit of things on Social Media at Costco only to Race out and they were out of stock or never received said item. So imagine my surprise when I found it mind you it was the last one and had a small stain but knew I had to have. Spent the afternoon strolling or maybe I should say grazing through the store samples. What's not to love about that other than checking out and getting my dollar fifty hot dog and soda. I will say it was getting frustrating waiting on the hot dog and soda as staff were swamped. I love the products, and while the prices aren't as shockingly amazing as they perhaps once were, you still can save a great deal of money. There are definite positives, but I think some negatives - at least from my experiences - you may want to consider: - You need to scan your card at the door, which would make sense except you also need to scan it for purchases at checkout. 7/10 times it doesn't matter, but the entry can back up if someone can't find their card or something, and it seems like an unnecessary step. - There are few signs designating sections, so you have an "Aldi-esque" shopping experience, where items move and/or are not easily located. It doesn't take a genius to see the potential upsides of this approach for the store, but just know that you need to have a decent mental map if you plan to find anything. - Produce is the one real downside - I'm shocked to see prices for routine stuff (like apples) way higher than Wegmans, with mediocre quality and selection. While everything else is great, I'd avoid produce here. - I admire the speed of the checkout process, particularly when they are busy, though I wish their design around the food court was better conceptualized. You tend to spill out right into folks waiting for hot dogs, and it can be a bit of a traffic jam. - Receipts and carts/bags are checked on exit - and this one really irritates me. You often find yourself in a long line while they poke and prod your bag/cart, and when you consider the level of scrutiny at checkout, I don't know why this is necessary. - Lastly, I find that most staff are unfortunately rather rude. There are definitely some exceptions, but don't expect anyone to be particularly helpful in finding anything, or to treat you calmly or with any semblance of patience, particularly at checkout. I can't imagine what they deal with daily, and I'm sure they are all great outside work, so I think I understand - but just realize that you're very much on your own, and you may be yelled at for any number of reasons, deserved or not. Review of Costco gas station only. WARNING: THEY DO THINGS DIFFERENTLY HERE The gas pumps are two deep with a pull-around lane between rows of gas pumps. Being new to this Syracuse location, I did not know that people do not pull around a car parked at the closer pump to access the farther (unoccupied) pump. My husband and I were honked at for doing this by an old geezer in his pickup truck. He started to roll down his window to shout at us too. Easy old man, it's just gas, and in most places you don't "have to" wait for both pumps to clear to get gas. Especially when there is a pull-around lane for this purpose. Guess there's nothing better to do in Syracuse than wait in line for gas?? Sheesh (We've also filled up gas at Costco in Rochester NY and never been honked at there.) read more

Apparently they're remodeling the store and relocating the checkouts so the self checkout is on the far right now, but they don't tell anyone so the lines were backed up all the way to the back of the store. The people are trying to coordinate the lines as well as the Checkout people were rude. When you ask them what was going on. I really enjoy this Costco location. I've found the employees are very helpful and friendly. It makes shopping a pleasant experience. This is an incredible "deal" at the food area. I both love and hate COSTCO. You better go with a list and not go hungry....especially on what I call "Sample Saturday and Sample Sunday" where at every turn you get to sample something. Then all of a sudden unless you have a list and stick to that list you are walking out with a full cart and a few hundred dollars beyond your list. Love the deals, the options and the variety. Especially with an active growing teenage son who loves to surprise his Mother and I with having friends over for unannounced meals. It's nice to have options in our pantry and freezer for these surprises. It's also nice to have the price points available due to the bulk buys and the buying power of Costco. While I love the bulk on some things I hate bulk on others. Example: I love a bag of 30 pc bag of large chicken wings for $20, but I'm lacking the love for a months supply of TP and where to store it. I know this is my internal conflict. Love and hate it....depending on the day of the week, depending on how weak I get and how far off script I go from my list and depending on what I buy. Went in with my 3 children and partner, and guy at front gave my partner a really hard time and stopped us at the gate (kind of making a small scene) due to my partners attire (bathing suit with large baggy cover sweatshirt). Dude, this place is slammed on weekends...just know that going in. They do have gas pumps out front and the store is a monster. Expect almost all registers to be running. Everyone is masked up and I don't think I saw any free sample tables. Food court is open, but it is strictly to-go orders. Note...this store does not sell wine or liquor like Costco's in other states. It's a New York State thing...that said, they do sell beer and even have a small selection of craft beer 4 packs available in the back right next to the freezer section. This trip they had Common Roots, Threes Brewing, Southern Tier, Smuttynose, and several other brewery offerings at reasonable craft beer prices. So my 8lb service dog Zoey and I go shopping for the first time at Costco today. I am a Army Combat Veteran that suffers from PTSD and other social issues. We have been shopping together for years at other stores BJs, Wegmans, Tops, Walmart, Price Chopper I can go on and on with no issue. Being so small I always put a blanket in the cart and push her around. The minute I walk into Costco I'm being yelled at about my dog being in the cart. I couldn't figure out why this guy is yelling at me so I walk past him. Next thing I know 4 managers are circling me like I stole something. Right then I feel trapped and start getting dizzy, and my heart is racing I want to snap but I don't because of my dog. They start yelling at me because supposedly Costco has a policy stating small dogs can't ride in the cart do to health issues. At this point I leave the store upset, dizzy and ready to blow. Are you kidding me? People throw their filthy kids in these carts all the time. Some of these kids look and smell like they haven't bathed in days. Costco products are not sterile either. I've shopped Costco since 1992 - mostly in CA. I had never been to this Costco store and can only say that I'm so disappointed. It's hard to believe that it's the same corporation. It was so cluttered and unorganized. There were empty boxes piled up in the Produce room keeping it difficult to move thru. There were empty boxes on the shelves which hadn't been cleared. There was carts stacked at the end of every single aisle blocking the traffic- mostly filled with merchandise which wasn't appropriate to that section. Actually the store was super crowded and I'm sure it was a fire hazard. It seemed like I was in one the dollar stores that are so difficult to shop in. I absolutely love Costco. They have so many healthy, clean, and organic food options available at an affordable price. Even their home goods, kitchenware, and clothes are great quality and they always have new inventory to try out. I absolutely love their fruits and veggies sections, but their pre-seasoned pork ribs are the best! We buy it everytime we go and pop it in our ninja grill and we're set for dinner for a few days. We also enjoy their fresh salmon and chicken too. We've bought clothes and shoes from here too and they're great quality through our wear and tear. I wish we have another Costco location in the Liverpool area to make it easier to get to, but driving 20min is certainly worth it. read more

Yet some of the workers are kind of a annoying, I went in the line to go to the self check out and we were already in a rush... one of the workers decided he was not going to let us go in the self checkout line because we had " to much stuff " and that we had to go in the other check out lines which took way longer, and although they packed it nicely it's not the way we wanted it packed and also the guy also sent some out of the self check out to the other lines even tho they had 5 items literally I counted, so how much is the amount of items allowed 1, like come on and also I hate when others touch the things I'm buying, thats kind of just a personal thing, I don't know, like there is a difference being good at your job and having pride and too much control and taking advantage of that. just my bad experience read more

This Costco was clean, the parking lot was easy to navigate, and they had plenty of friendly sample people. As always the Gas Station was reasonably priced. I couldn't find a consistent answer when I was looking online to find information about the attached liquor store - so here it is if you are looking: yes they sell wine & liquor at the attached store - no they do not carry kirkland brand as it is not a Costco liquor store. You do not need your membership card to shop at the liquor store. Yes prices are reasonable. Inside Costco they do sell craft beer - see my attached picture. They didn't have any local New York beers which was disappointing, but maybe they rotate brands. read more

There's a lot to like here, including the management who will go to great lengths to correct any issue. The optical department is one of the draws with inexpensive frames and efficient helpful staff. The tire department has generated nearly the opposite experience because I've had to ask for services to be performed twice when they weren't done the first time with nearly every visit. If you can get to Costco during the week you can avoid the crowds and lines that permeate the weekends. Whenever you visit, it is a nice perk to be able to top of your gas tank with the cheapest prices around. read more

Tire center damaged my aluminum wheels and over torqued the chrome lug nuts elongating the corners, it appears as if they used the wrong sized socket, while installing new tires I purchased from Costco. They refuse to accept responsibility. The wheels on my 2017 Cadillac XT5 were in pristine condition. The 1st problem was that the didn't know how to remove locking lug nut. read more

Do you know why they check your receipt at the end of your visit as you exit the warehouse? It's to make sure you spent at least $100. Haha. ;) It's impossible for me to come here without buying more than what I intended to. You can buy 5 dozen eggs here for less than $6. I love coming to Costco for my bulk purchases. I often get their milk (though Wegman's milk is cheaper), Spinach (no where else can I find a bag of spinach this large), beef jerky (cheaper than most places you can find it), their food court foods ($1.50 hot dogs!), fruits ($2.99 for a large box of strawberries) and meat. They have awesome furniture here as well. There is plenty of parking. I am a fan of any and all Costcos. Samples I tried here included a lot of health stuff. I always find that their samples reflect the type of customers they get (ex: when I was in east side San Jose there were a lot more Mexican food samples). Samples I got here included ginger lemonade, watermelon lemonade, protein bars, bone stock, organic salsa (it was too sweet) and a mango granola bar. read more

I typically love Costco but the cashiers can be quite rude... I went here with my mom and niece to buy 5 lbs of crab legs and a few lbs of shrimps for dinner. The crab legs are amazing here and that's literally the only reason I gave them two stars. The cashier was impatient with my mother before she even got up to the register; apparently the cashier felt my mom was taking too long to walk up to her and present her Costco card, this is where the eye rolling began During check out my mother noticed a few rotten potatoes in the sack and wanted to leave them behind, the cashier rolled her eyes again and took the sack off the belt and threw it behind her with tons of unnecessary attitude. She then put her hand on her hip and began rolling her eyes again when my mother wanted to give her exact change. This is our favorite place to do our shopping! We generally only buy things we need in large quantities that will last us up to two weeks, some things last even longer if we get frozen goods! We also enjoy strolling in every lane looking for free samples whenever we can find them & sometimes even twice if it's delicious & were super hungry before dinner sorry and thank you very much ! We do end up buying a package of whatever if we go for round two, because it means we want more!! Lots of time is spent here contemplating our lives and what's for dinner! Costco is a membership-only warehouse club that provides a wide selection of merchandise, from fresh meat and vegetables, to frozen food, canned goods, furniture, electronics - pretty much anything you want, Costco has, and probably at a lower price. And they've finally come to Syracuse. My wife and I had a Costco membership when we lived in Maryland, but we HATED going there. It was always packed, people literally waiting outside the doors for the place to open, so while there were plenty of deals, it was just a miserable experience. When we moved back to CNY, we were excited to try out the brand new one here, and it was a delightful surprise. It's always busy, but never overrun, with plenty if space to get around. Store is always clean, employees are always friendly. What is there really to say about Costco that hasn't been said? Whatever you want, they have. Food? Got it. Clothing? They've got it. Books, toys, tires, jewelery, pet food, a pharmacy, air conditioners, household goods, frozen food, furniture, TVs, cell phones, seasonal merchandise? They have it ALL. And usually at a lower price than anywhere else. And usually decent to very good quality. Their house brand, Kirkland, is also very good quality. It's the only brand of pet food we buy for our dogs, and is consistently on "best pet food" lists year after year. They're fresh made prepared foods are very good. I highly recommend their Tuscan seasoned pork medallions and Cajun spiced chicken wings. Great bakery section as well. Their tire section is also impressive. Some of the employees there seem a bit under trained at times, but their costs and warranty program is second to none. $15 for each tire mounted, and a 5 UEAR WARRANTY. the warranty is great, covers flats, punctures, rotations, etc. They also have a great eyeglasses department and program. They've replaced a couple pairs of my wife's glasses completely free when she's broken them, no questions asked. They have gas at this location and the prices are always the lowest in the are rea and tend to drive all the other locations near it prices down. Things you need to know...you need a membership. You can only use cash or debit cards. 90% of what's sold is in bulk. Only regular and premium for their gas, no diesel. No bags, so bring your own reusable ones or grab some of their leftover merchandise boxes. You'll need to present your receipt to a checker before you walk out, where they'll check your receipt against the items in your cart. Costco is pretty much everything you need and I recommend it to anyone. read more

More love than not when it comes to Costco. It's in our routine line up of stores for specific items such as eggs, paper products, baby essentials and bacon. Highlights: Kirkland diapers and wipes, better than most name brands in my opinion. The rotisserie chicken is an amazing deal (usually $4-$5) and tastier & larger than other grocery store chicken. We usually pick up a couple for dinner and use the other for another chicken based meal. Birthday cake is good and the amount of cake that comes with the order is insane ($20 to feed 30+). You can customize it as well. The food court turkey sandwich is incredible. Kirkland products (Costco brand) are of solid quality Gas prices are low, always fill my tank up when I visit. Most staff are really nice and looking to help. It's very clean. Lowlights: Kirkland milk is tasteless in my opinion. I've had many issues with their produce, rotted or mushy by day after purchase. I avoid this section and rely on other places for produce. It's pretty costly to be a member, for the upgraded membership it's $120/year but you receive some money back near the end of your membership year based on how much you purchased. I know that one of their strategies to entice more random purchases is to go without labeling the aisles but this is annoying. Wish their operating hours were expanded. Overall, Costco is a solid wholesale company and focus on pleasing the customer (eg-liberal return policy), which they should since membership dues are high. I've never met a Costco I didn't like. Each one affectionately nicknamed...Tower of Babel Costco (because of the multitude of languages spoken there), Nutella Costco (where Canadians buy their favorite hazelnut treat by the kilogram), fenderbender Costco (named for the cutthroat parking), and musical carts Costco (because leaving your shopping cart unattended left it up for grabs). This Costco would be dubbed Ghosttown Costco because on a Saturday afternoon it was deserted. We found a parking spot close enough that we didn't have to take a parking lot shuttle to the entrance. It was clean, organized inside, and boasted all sorts of goodies we didn't need but at the same time couldn't live without. We came in just to satisfy our Costco craving and left with $185 of olive oil and trail mix to last us for a year in addition to an office chair I didn't even know we were in the market for. I couldn't help but stay away from the Costco food court. 20 oz. soft drink for 59 cents??? Come on....there is nowhere else you can find that. Even the service at the food court was fantastic and I was greeted with a smile. Already riding on a Costco high, it was topped off by $2.29/gallon Costco gas. I felt like a kid at Disney World, this Costco trip was just that good! read more

Just left there, I noticed an item i had purchased the week before had its price reduced. I stopped at customer service and asked if they could scan my card and refund the difference. Male Customer service person responded no they don't like to do that. I responded well you have done it in the past. He responded with have a nice day. He wasn't busy in fact chatting about lunch with 2 other employees. I didn't think that was appropriate. I do have my receipt and will be bringing it back to that store. This is literally the first negative experience I have had there in my 4 years of shopping. So my question is do I need my receipt or not? The employee could have instructed me to look at my costco app where all receipts are stored but preferred to just move me along. read more

I was at this store today having tires installed for a family member. While waiting I walked around and checked things out. They had some samples of chicken meatballs towards the back. When I reached for one, a very angry employee named Diane literally hit my arm and pushed my arm back. She then slid another tray of them out allowed people to grab them. I told her that her behavior was totally inappropriate and asked for her name. Only then did she say the first word, which was "they're hot, that's why I had to do that." Of course they're hot. I have been in leadership for many years and would terminate an employee on the spot for such behavior. This is completely unacceptable and I'll never return to this store. read more

I will come right out and say that I am not usually a fan of whole sale at all. Most of the time the prices are a complete rip off and you aren't really saving anything. That and when you buy a lot of these things in bulk they end up going bad before you finish them anyways. The funny part is that I have kind of changed my mind about whole sale stores after coming here. They have a huge selection of quality items! A lot of them are really good prices. Now normally their bulk discount still wouldn't be good enough, but they have a lot of products that are on sale as well. We got a huge 24 pack of those yummy Belvita biscuits for like 7 bucks. That is a huge deal. The food at their food court is pretty good too. I tried their pizza and it was really cheesy and had a good crust. They also have soda for like 60 cents with free refills! That is a really freaking good deal! The only downfall is that they will try their best to upsell you when you sign up. They will even tag team you with their manager. It's sad that they clearly make their service reps do that. They probably have some sort of incentive. Other than that, not too bad of a place to shop! read more
