I ordered a beef burrito, and it lacked taste and, simply, didn't live up to a true burrito. The thing tasted like paper. I thought I got salsa, but even the salsa was tasteless. Very disappointing experience at this place. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place as a Mex/Latin food spot to anybody, unless you're into fake Mexican food. It's okay. I live close by and when I want this kind of food and don't want to drive to cafe rio in st George I bite the bullet and come here. Like I said it's okay. I usually get the burrito and most of the time have to cut off a lot of the tortilla. The tortilla/filling ratio is awful. A gigantic tortilla with a little bit of filling for $10 is a joke. It's like a bigger than average taco more than it's a burrito. Check your order prior to leaving ! I can't stress this enough. We get this maybe once every 2 months and every time we order there's something missing or wrong size (ie small chips instead of regular size) I don't leave this place until I check everything as there's always something wrong. If you're out of town and on your way toward Vegas then go to cafe rio in st George instead. Hell, if you're headed to slc go to the cafe rio in cedar city. I would avoid this place unless you absolutely want to avoid burgers in Hurricane and must eat immediately. We live 2 hours from one and do NOT get it very often... so you can imagine my FURY when I order a regular sweet pork salad to go and to my very unhappy surprise, when I get home, there is NO SWEET PORK ON MY SALAD AND NO TOMATILLA RANCH THAT I ASKED EXTRA FOR AND YOU KNOW I HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT EXTRA DRESSING THAT I DID NOT RECIEVE! This place is great. Every time I come to Utah I make sure to stop at Costa Vida at least once (although normally the ones up towards Salt Lake City). Great food. Great price. Friendly staff. Air conditioned (unlike some restaurants nearby). Clean bathrooms. Also, it's a pretty healthy place. I have no idea how this place has such low reviews. We ordered the pork salad and chips and queso, plus chips and refried beans for the kids. The flavor was great. The pork, beans, and rice in the salad were slightly cold, but not unpleasant. Some of the rice was also underdone. The consistency of the queso and refried beans were spot on this time. It's always a gamble ordering those items, but when it's good, it's great. The queso is also fantastic on the salad. I think lime wedges are supposed to be standard on Costa Vida salads, but you have to ask for them specifically at this location. read more

They don't monitor their food. There's a reason why they aren't very busy. Buyer beware! Earlier this month we ordered Queso and when we arrived home we noticed it was lumpy. Mediocre food, literally nothing special about it and it doesn't even have much flavor. Usually i enjoy food places like this similar to chipotle, but the food was okay and the people were rude and the whole staff was dysfunctional. Such a bad experience. When I started my order, I saw a worker in the back drop tongs on the ground and just pick them and start using them again without hesitation. When we got to the register, they had forgotten my dad's quesadilla on the pan and it was burned to a crisp. Overall, the service was horrible and the food was not good. Ordered the largest side of chips and guacamole. Came home with slim single layer of chips and a tiny tablespoon plop of guacamole inside the large container. It was almost offensive!! I ate here recently and they mixed up my little brother's order with someone else's. My brother is allergic to bean, and the other dish had beans. So we switched burritos. Not so long after I finished my plate, I was so sick. I am sure I had food poisoning. The puking, the irregular bowl movements, the chills. It didn't last very long but I am sure it was from there food. They were also super unorganized. The place was a mess. Costa vida is a great tasting Tex-mex restaurant. Everything is good, if you actually get what your ordered. We love their salads and burritos, but usually something is left out of our salad or bag. Our kids love to eat the refried beans, but this last time I went they didn't even have any refried beans to give us. We usually have chips and queso with our meals. Sometimes the queso tastes amazing, other times it is grainy and horrible. Their biggest problem is consistency. If they can figure that out, they may get a better rating from me. Food here is usually okay. Customer service well, not so much. Last two visits I had to wait so a employee could have a full blown conversation with someone she knew. Workers act like they don't see you standing there or ignore you until they are good and ready. Today they lost my business. I asked for two tacos and believe it or not they were made backwards lol. This place has gone way downhill since Covid started. My order has been wrong more than 50% of the time. Their salad dressings are watered down and soupy now. And the portion sizes have shrunk significantly. I pay the same $10 for vegetarian burrito for myself as I do a pork burrito for my husband, and the vegetarian burrito is now half the size. I was skeptical when I saw low rated reviews. But, I wanted to give them a chance and the other places nearby were not well ventilated and smelled bad. I walked into Costa Vida and was greeted cordially and the food was served quickly - super yummy and delicious, if I may add. Plus! Major bonus points. The guys at the front said downloading the app gives you a discount. So, not only did I get amazing service and quality food, but I got a deal!
